Save your time and money

Book is lame af. Feller is not an author. Hate his approach and prose. There are good technical terms in the book for the rhymes and near rhymes, but besides that you'd be better off learning from fortune cookies. I've never been so dissatisfied, nearly all the exercises and and examples are useless. This book would have made a good pamphlet and then he extended it by 275 pages. Your better of buying Jeff tweedys book on how to write a song. Even then best practice is writing snd finding your own voice.

0 out of 10, wish I could get my money back and an apology from the author. Feel sorry for the students who paid for an education from this joker. Kids stay in school unless they employ Pat Pattison.

Worth the buy

This book has great information and techniques to help improve your writing styles. With many unique approaches to get you in flow whether alone or collaborating with others. Worth it if you’re looking to expand your approach in any form of writing.

Pure knowledge - Highly recommended!

During the year I checked a lot of songwriting books and none of them compared to those of Pat Pattinson. In he’s books You getting pure knowledge and not all that couching and general empty creative advises. With the help of the exercises I’m making huge strides towards independent writing. The book gives you a course that is not easy but definitely satisfying.

Dirty cover.

I believed the book was brand new but when I took it out of the packing it looked like the person who packed it was eating s’mores. There is stuff all over the cover.

Terrific content. Terrible quality control and customer service.

As far as the content of this book, it is amazing. Really useful, practical, concrete advise and exercises. After a few weeks, my writing has already improved.

Unfortunately, this is marred by two problems with my experience. First, after two weeks of use, the spine of the book cracked (see photos). This obviously shouldn't happen with a brand new book. But fine, defects happen. I emailed Writers Digest, the publishers asking them to send me a new book. No response. I tweeted at them. No response. That's just awful customer service. This is a reference book that I would hope to last years. Unfortunately, after few weeks it's falling apart.

I can recommend the e-book version unreservedly. As for the hard copy, beware.
