Overall, a great product, and great price

I was very impressed with this mic right out of the box. Very well made and heavier than I expected. Very low hand noise. I use wireless most of the time but would use this in situations for stationary MCs, Mic an amp, Stationary vocalists, etc. It reminds me of the old 58s and is very road-worthy looking and durable. Good frequency response, and for the money, will be a good addition for any sound company needing to have extra mics in the arsenal.

I may get a couple more but will get the one with a switch, as this one is either always on or has to be muted.

The XLR cable is not lightweight either, and the mic clip is also more durable than those cheap pinch clips. It also has the adapter for smaller mic stands. Overall, a great product, and I may use it for simple voice-over projects for fast turnarounds.

Top notch!

I’ve been really impressed with the Phenyx Pro PM-25. The clarity right out of the box is noticeably clean and balanced, which immediately stood out to me. Vocals come through crisp without sounding harsh, and the overall sound feels very natural.

What surprised me most was how easy it was to dial in. For the first time, I didn’t feel like I had to make extreme adjustments on my mixer to get a good sound. It sat well in the mix almost immediately, which made setup quick and stress-free.

If you’re looking for something that delivers solid audio quality without a lot of hassle, the PM-25 is a great option.

Surprising Quality for the Price

As the drummer in a cover band, I’m also the person responsible for hauling, setting up, and running all of our sound equipment. I.e., I’m the one setting up mics, setting gain, EQ’ing channels, and troubleshooting issues during soundcheck. I’ve used plenty of microphones over the years, including the SM58, so I picked up the Phenyx Pro PM-25 with fairly modest expectations.

After several rehearsals and gigs, I’ve been pleasantly surprised- the PM-25 has a solid build quality that feels much more substantial than its price point would suggest. Vocals come through clearly, and the cardioid pickup pattern does a good job rejecting unwanted stage noise. For a live band environment where you’re competing with drums, guitars, and stage monitors, that’s important.

One thing I noticed is that the PM-25 seems to have a slightly hotter output than an SM58. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it’s something to be aware of when gain staging. Once dialed in, the microphone delivered a strong, clear signal with plenty of headroom.

Tonally, I would say it has a slightly brighter character than an SM58. Some singers may actually prefer this since it can help vocals cut through a mix without requiring as much EQ.

My biggest criticism is that, while it performs very well for the money, it doesn’t quite have the refined sound or feedback resistance of higher-end professional microphones. During soundcheck, I found I needed to be a bit more deliberate with monitor placement and EQ. That said, considering the price difference, it’s hard to complain.

Overall, the Phenyx Pro PM-25 exceeded my expectations. If you’re looking for an affordable live vocal microphone for rehearsals, small gigs, karaoke setups, or working bands on a budget, it’s an excellent value. I wouldn’t replace every SM58 in my inventory with one, but I would absolutely buy another PM-25 when I need a dependable microphone that won’t break the bank.

Exceeds expectations!

Quality: Compares well to the Shure PG58, with the weight and feel of the SM58. The tone is similar to Sennheiser e835. Great mic on a budget!

Great value, professional sound!

This microphone is a SOLID 4.8 stars in my book. We have put it to the test as a professional live audio company, and played with it in the studio to really test the limits. I have to say, the mic alone is impressive at this price point, but to receive a quality (15ft) mic cable, bag and clip in addition is worth mentioning. While trivial, there are very few if any mic's that will deliver that kind of value on the market; this does just that while competing on a level with products that double and even triple the cost. In our experience this microphone has excellent rejection and therefore no issues with feedback that were not adjacent to those of similar mics. In fairness there are a few minor details I can comment on. The mic body feels a bit large in the hand (only if you are accustomed to the more "industry standard" models, but it makes up for that with the quality of the build. The handling noise is minimal, but definitely noticeable at times, I would likely use this mic on a stand more than handheld and remedy both of those "issues"that way. Out of the box, this mic sounds wonderful on vocals and with very little EQ can fit in a mix instantly!

TLDR; this microphone is very usable in a professional setting, and is an incredible value!

Great Microphone

I Got this sweet Mic, I busted it out of the box and to my surprise it is a killer Mic, this thing is heavy made with a great tough grill on it, this actually feels like a better made one than my cheaper Shure I have, I hooked this up, it has such a wonderful sound quality and tone to match my voice. I am extremely proud of this item and can't wait to get this Jewel out into the wild to use it for my Microphone needs. The Cable is great also but I will probably still use my high-quality cables that I have. In the images you will see what comes in the box, I do highly recommend this one, the only drawback I've found is that I should have gone after Model PM-25S whuch is the same mic with an on/off switch but that is a such a great mic I will work around that small non-issue.

Great mic for the price.

Solid microphone for the price. Great sound quality. Love the fact that it comes with a xlr cable.

Great buy at a great price!

The microphone itself looks great! The all black in my opinion is a great look. It feels solid, has nice weight to it, and it also sounds pretty good. No audible difference in a live setting between this mic and a sm58. But the savings on price is a great buy.

Comes with a nice little bag and mic clip.

This is a really really nice all metal high quality dynamic microphone

I'm not a trained singer but I'm interested in having high quality microphone for recording vocal samples and sound samples. I've had a couple different microphones and this is the best dynamic microphone I have dollar for Dollar by far. First off the build quality is impeccable it is all metal construction. Second the sound is fantastic. I have other dynamic microphones as well as different types of microphones to compare it to and I also can analyze the sound waves on my software and everything about this is excellent. It really does what I wanted to do in a variety of different situations and it's not hard to get it locked in to where it needs to be as opposed to other microphones. This could definitely be used in a variety of different environments and Excel. I'm assuming they're trying to compete with dynamic microphones two to three times the price and I'm pretty sure this achieves it or gets close enough not to warrant the extra money. The price is also reasonable enough that you could even use it for karaoke and not worry about someone breaking it unless they do something stupid enough that they would have to pay for it. I can tell you I accidentally let it roll off of my table and dropped about 3 ft. No damage to the microphone and a little damage to my wooden floor. I have other items from Phenyx and I can say they are of the highest quality to dollar ratio of any products out there. Really good company trying to get high quality products into musician's hands

I cannot recommend this one

The construction held up to my examination. Heavy. Nice fit and finish. Good look XLR cable included. Unfortunately, it all fell apart during the actual audio test. I did a side by side comparison with my Electro-Voice RE20. Yes, I know it's an apples vs. oranges test to compare a $50 mic to a $400 one, and I of course cut it a lot of slack. Even cutting it a lot of slack, I still can't recommend it. It has good frequency response, shockingly comparable to the EV in that regard. That was as far as that went, however. It needed a lot of gain added in my Rodecaster Pro II in order to get a good volume out of it. Even so, I could've lived with that. Where it fell apart for me was on clarity. It's just not a clean sound. Dirty and noisy. Is this subjective? To some degree, yes. And yes, I'm being an audio snob here. Truth is it would probably be just fine as a karaoke mic, since most karaoke audience members aren't that interested in pristine technical quality. I am, however, so this one is a pass for me.

It’s a pass, even on sale

It looks decent and comes with a sticker, pouch, mic holder, and mic cable. The cord length is a good length for karaoke and moving around a small stage. It’s got a decent weight to it and seems pretty durable but the sound quality isn’t the best. I used my sound booth to record, unfortunately I only have headphones so I couldn’t play the sound on speakers but the hum is pervasive whereas my condenser microphone is silent, so the hum is from the dynamic microphone.

You’re going to want a cloudlifter if not using a Karaoke machine. But even then, you’re going to get an annoying hum. I switched out the cable with a higher end, gold plated cable and it didn’t change a thing. I don’t think this is worth the buy as is. TBH, my phone microphone sounds better.

Truly a terrible microphone - tested and compared

I am sorry, I was excited about this until I plugged it in. I saw other reviews stating that it sounded as good or better than a Shure SM-58. That microphone has possibly been the most popular microphone for years now. It is rugged, the sound is pretty even and there's very little noise to it.

When the Phenyx Pro mics arrived, I was hopeful, because the design and build looks really great. The construction is very solid, with a metal body and grill. They came with mic clips that were good enough, as well as a bag. Once I plugged them in, though, I was very disappointed. I received both the PM-25 and PM-25S (switch), and sadly the performance was consistent between the two.

First of all, the noise floor is amazingly bad. What I mean is that is soon as you plug it in, you know it is plugged in because of the amazing amount of hiss and noise. For the PM-25S, this is even with the switch off! There is basically no noticeable noise with an SM-58.

Secondly, the quality of sound coming from the mics is thin and brittle.

I would give an extra star for the cables that came with these since they were actually pretty decent, but the microphones were so incredibly unusable to me, that I must give this a 1 star to balance out any of the reviews from others who clearly weren't paying attention, or didn't actually use the microphones.

Attached to this review is a screencapture of a Logic session where I recorded all three mics, a Shure SM-58, and the Phenyx Pro PM-25 and PM-25S. I used the same cable (the one provided), same preamp settings, same channel settings - all with me sitting in the same spot, holding the microphones the same way. I think it will be very clear from watching and listening that these are not worth considering. I would say put on headphones to hear what I mean, but honestly, I think you should notice the noise as soon as the tracks for the Phenyx mics begin, even through a phone speaker.

Nostalgic, Sturdy and Affordable Microphone

The Phenyx Pro Microphone stands out among non-name-brand options. I appreciate its nostalgic, sturdy heaviness. The 16.5 ft cord is impressively long.

I was unable to get the microphone to work with my Focusrite audio interface, which was the reason I chose it. I know my voice was picking up, but I needed another connection to my laptop for everything to work cohesively.

However, the microphone worked just fine with my Coolmusic amplifier. It seems like the XLR input is standard for most equipment. I appreciated that this mic is a simple plug-and-play.

My voice is clear and loud. Once again, it’s really about the input I use, because I know that certain settings can interfere with the sound quality. The microphone itself is far-out with the correct settings and equipment. I couldn’t be more satisfied.

For the listed price, this microphone is affordable. I keep winning!

Good sound need XLR to USB adapter for PC

My son wants to get more serious with streaming so I gave this a try. You need an XLR to USB adapter to use this with a PC setup. That works fine for our tests so far.

If you need top quality for clarity, for like recording your music, you'll want to pick up an audio interface which you can find for under $100 instead. The USB adapter works well enough for us, similar to a phone call quality. Pretty clear. Not immersive, but good.

This has a good weight to it for a nice solid feel and comes with a clip attachment that has a fitting for most standard mic arms/stands/mini tripods.

It also has a long cord, and thankfully a Velcro wrap to help keep that tidy, but if you need to set up from like 6-10feet back, you're covered.

The noise reduction sponge is built into the mic (see photo) so that you don't need a soft cover over the mic for streaming.

If you hold it directly to your mouth you might want an extra cover but for regular use it's great

Extremely impressive wired mic for price point. Delivers on many key areas.

I took a while to write this review because ai wanted my musician friends and family to test in a variety of settings All were extremely impressed. Overall sound quality, whether with my teen's out back jamming or my friends on stage doing sound check, this passed all their picky specs. Cables included have a rubber sleve not metal which is fine. At this price point it is a solid cable that is included. Hello!

Heavy build quality, sounds great right out of the box and handling noise is minimal.

Overall sound quality is solid. This is absolutely your starter (& maybe backup) mic.

Definitely recommend.

Surprisingly Great Mic for the Price

I wasn’t expecting studio-level performance at this price, but the Phenyx Pro PM-25 really delivers. The build feels sturdy and professional, and the cardioid pickup pattern does a great job isolating vocals while minimizing background noise—perfect for live gigs, rehearsals, or even podcasting.

The included XLR cable is long enough for stage setups, and the mic clip and storage bag are thoughtful touches that make it feel like a complete package. Sound quality is clear and punchy, with enough warmth to flatter most vocal styles without needing heavy EQ.

Whether you’re a singer, karaoke enthusiast, or just need a reliable mic for your setup, this one punches above its weight. Great value, fast shipping, and no fuss—just plug in and go.

Clear sound

This is a professional quality microphone, very clear sound, and long cord.

The first thing I noticed is that the connection is good for professional equipment, so if you’re looking for the regular microphone for your home karaoke machine, make sure you get the adapter, I’ll assure you that you won’t be disappointed, because the sound quality is superb! The voice comes out clear and smooth, no muffled sounds, the one thing I notice the most is that it protects the performance from background noise.

The long cord provides room to walk around while you perform, so even though is not a cordless mic, you still can have a bit more freedom to move around stage, and the connection stays on because it latches secure in place, and it even comes with accessories, excellent deal!

Excellent quality at amazing price

The PM-25 is an amazing microphone! It's built solid and durable, metal construction, sure to survive traveling, dropping, and day to day wear. The sound is top notch. I've used at least 6 other types of microphones for a new young band, and this is by far the best microphone so far! Super clear vocals, excellent sound control, and no feedback.

The included cable has metal ends and locks in place, and is high quality with no interference. The microphone holder works well and the included travel back is a nice perk. Many microphones don't come with any of these things!

I honestly can't believe the quality of microphone at this price. It easily compares to much more expensive microphones and in many ways, beats them. I do sound for a new band and this is our new go to microphone for our lead vocals for live shows!

Nice Microphone

Nice Microphone. Played with this on my PA system and it sounds and works good. I like that the head of the microphone has the flat parts on it to keep it from rolling around. I often put my microphone down on a table and it will help keep it from rolling off. It is real nice that it comes with a decent length XLR cable. It feels real solid, doesn't feel like a cheap one that doesn't weigh anything.

Update - At first this microphone was working great. Now it sounds extremely tinny and lost a lot of its gain. To make sure it wasn't the cable used another microphone and it worked good, then tried this microphone again and it was still bad, even tried a different XLR cord same result. Not sure what happened it was working great at first.

A pleasant surprise

I give it 5 stars because I believe the value is outstanding for the price.

It sounds perfectly fine for live applications, and I even got a good sound using it to mic up a snare for a quick test.

No, it won't compete with your $800 dollar condenser in the studio, but if that's what you're looking for, why are you looking at a sub $50 mic? On stage, it sounds clear and is only slightly less "hot" than an SM 58... which may be a good thing depending on your application. The sensitivity is rated at -50 vs the 58's -56, so that's as it should be. This mic seems more pronounced in the mid-low portion of the spectrum than the 58, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, of course.

What really impressed me and won the 5 star rating is build quality. This thing is built like a tank. Very heavy, with a thick aluminum body, it FEELS more durable than a 58, but I'm not comparing it in a drop test to find out for sure.

The included cable worked fine, no issues there. A quick inspection showed tightly soldered connections, although the sleeve component is rubber instead of metal. Considering you essentially get it for free, that's not an issue.

Compared with Behringer and Peavey's offerings in the same price range, I think this takes the prize. Give it a shot.
