Good budget system with 4 wireless lavs

Working in live AV professionally this feels like a budget system offered at a very affordable price point

Initial impressions are positive

Pros

The body packs are lightweight plastic

The mics are not top tier in build quality but seem to perform fine

Cons

It definitely feels like entry level gear with buttons mics and overall build being on the thinner or plastic side

I plan to do a more in depth test in a couple weeks and will update this review if anything changes

Wow!!! What a deal for the price

Awesome Microphones. Great built body Packs, the tone is great, I love the easy frequency scan and change. I only had to scan one time and now there all working perfectly!! Much better than my previous unit!!!! Would recommend. Im in a traveling band and these work perfectly everywhere we go. We've been in nc, va, wv, ky, iowa, Indiana, never had a single issue! Battery life with rechargeable batteries is at minimum of 6 hours, can't beat these for the price !!!

Another AMAZING PhenyxPro product!!!

The PTU-7000 wireless system is awesome! Another great product from PhenyxPro!!! This fits perfectly into our wireless mic rack. We have been using the PTU-1U systems and needed to add some mics (knowing we were going to need some horn mics also) and this works flawlessly!! With a slight modification to the headset mic (I will add a picture of that later) we now have capabilities of 4 wireless horns now!!

PhenyxPro makes great products and when you combine their systems with the antenna distribution system, you can’t go wrong! We also use their Witeless In-Ear monitor systems and soon we hope to be all the way changed over to ALL PHENYX PRO! We will continue buying and working with PhenyxPro and will continue to recommend to everyone we have influence with

Thank You PhenyxPro!!!

Works great

I have to start off by saying these microphones work and sound great! I used them for a musical recently as I could just scan for the best channel and not have to worry about drop outs. The one complain I have about the product is how to open the battery slot on the receiver, the ends are plastic and seem flimsy making it a bit hard to open. Other wise this product is great and I would recommend to all!

Good value IF you make sure your environment is free of other radio interference

PTU-7000B REVIEW

============

The PTU-7000B is the 4 body pack version of the popular PTU-7000 series which offers a 4-channel receiver with 4x40 scannable frequencies, 4 body packs and 8 microphone elements (4 headset style and 4 lapel (clip) style). This is the fourth PTU 7000 series product that I have had the pleasure of using/testing.

Here are some of the pros:

The value: at around $300 US, you can add 4 wireless body-pack microphones to your setup.

The receiver is universal You can also purchase additional handheld microphones PWH-7 through Phenyx Pro and use these microphones for karaoke, worship, etc. and double the same receiver to be used for small plays, or corporate speaking events.

The PTU7000-B comes in very nice slimline packaging. The plastic-handled box with sturdy molded insert will allow me to travel with this unit until a more permanent case comes along

The LCD is bright evenly lit with high contrast

The auto scan feature is fast and reliable, although my experience with the syncing was a little inconsistent.

It seems like the antennae may have been upgraded since I last purchased my last PTU-7000 set, as they seem to have more rigid/sturdy angle and fit more tight onto the BNC snap on connectors.

I used the body packs for a rehearsal of a 4-person Winnie the Pooh play and the microphones seems to setup easily and have decent sound with little gain necessary

The actors in the play commented how they enjoyed the headset design as they were very comfortable —however, in practice the dark color and the large microphone windscreens will likely make these unusable in a theatre performance environment, but would work well for exercise classes, and multi-instructor classes

Here are some of the cons:

At home, I noticed fluttering noise from the body packs. Similar to the flapping of wings, the noise seemed to affect the voice and even breathes in or out were fluttering (like the power of the signal was getting weaker and stronger but very very quickly.

To be fair, I did not notice this fluttering when used at the theater, only at home, which has a highly congested WiFi network and mesh devices installed

Also, I noticed that when I used 3rd-party mic elements (using the T3F connector) the fluttering drastically lessened.

When I synced a PWH7 handheld to the same frequency, the fluttering was totally eliminated, which makes me think a combination of the body-packs and mic elements included in this package are of lesser quality and may be susceptible to fluttering noise floor and digital noise in environments that are heavy with other wireless signals.

The body/Mic element combos that come with this unit are highly susceptible to interference. I would love Phenyx to invest in better mic elements/wire quality as the included ones do not provide the value or performance consistent with their brand.

You’re mileage may vary as the units seemed to perform well in environments with lower radio activity.

Be aware that you may have to test in your intended performance space before committing to a permanent installation of these units.

I would say that I am worried about using these in a mobile rig, but would feel more comfortable in a permanent installation when low radio noise is verified.

The battery door hinges on the body packs are extremely delicate and likely will get broken or off-track with normal battery replacement. Investing in a better door design or a better overall housing for these body packs that incorporates shielding would be helpful.

Minor issue-one of the antenna was missing a rubber band that covers the BNC connector (picture included)

Who is this device for?

-Small black box theaters, performing companies, entertainment companies with multiple performers and a very small budget

-Churches or worship teams looking to add budget wireless microphones

Would I recommend the bodypack-only version? Maybe. If you already own a PTU7000 system with at least one bodypack and you have verified that your specific environment is not susceptible to radio interference, then adding this package as an additional set of mics is a great value. But if this is your first system and you are planning on using for small theater or mobile performance groups, I think that you would be better served to buy the individual system parts from Phenyx pro (the receivers and body packs). You would save a few dollars which I would suggest to invest in higher quality microphone elements with the T3F connector (AKG) and rechargeable batteries-which will enhance the performance and utility of these units.

Does not transmit through 1/2 in steel... Lol

I have used this product a few times now with no issues clean sound and great audio. My only complaint would be that the output is a little to hot and can easily clip but other than that a great kit and easy to use

Great value, easy to use.

If you need a multi-body pack microphone set, you'll have a harder time finding a better bang for your buck. Super easy set up. Comes with lapel and headset microphones (four of each) and four body packs. The body packs are plastic with metal belt clips. Sound quality is good. Comes in a cardboard box that can be used as a case, but would recommend something heavier duty for longer term use if not being rack mounted. Rack mounts are built onto the receiver. Outputs are 4 XLR (one per line) and one combined unbalanced 1/4 inch. Also comes with an unbalanced 1/4inch to 3.5mm adapter. It would be nice to have a USB output or an output compatible with a standard 3.5mm multi-jack on a laptop, but mine wouldn't recognize it with the cord included, so it doesn't seem compatible with that. Instead I routed it through a sound board and that worked fine. Really just plug and play, power on, plug in and go.

One of the Microphones doesn't work

First of all, this system has a

Great microphones which are completely noiseless. Second, the coverage between mics and reciever is super high which covers up very well in a big area. Third, the headsets are super comfortable and while singing I can monitor the sound very well. Sadly, one of the Microphones doesn't work at all because of some technical issues. Also, remember all these mics are not rechargeable and needs to be operated by batteries.
