I've been using this headphones as a DJ for 3 years and have been impressed by the quality and sound. I average about 40-50 gigs per year. The case protects the headphones and looks great. I give it a 4 star due to the ear cushions on both ears are deteriorated after 3 years leaving black residue all over my ears and suits.

Wish I had known about their recall notification! Apparently you could get a refund/replacement from the dealer or retailer because of a defect where the slider end cap would break (due to its weak construction with screws going into plastic)....

I purchased this product because it was a Pioneer product, and I assumed that because they make great controllers they make good headphones as well. Boy was I wrong.
From the moment I connected these headphones to my controller, I could only hear audio from one side. I tried this out on my laptop to make sure, and once again, only one side. I paid $100 for an amazing product, and instead my $10 gaming headphones are doing a better job. Absolute disgrace.

El producto me llego defectuoso. Un lado del auriculares Pioneer no me funciono. Fue una mala inversion y me salio más caro que comprarlo Nuevo. Porque yo soy de Ecuador y me costo $15 la traida, más $15 la Vuelta $30 dolar perdidos tirados a la basura. No se porque perjudican al cosumidor deberìan envíar algo que funcione bien. Que mala experiencia he tenido. Por eso no recomiendo comprar algo usado. Ojo y elegi el producto Usado como Nuevo. Y me llego con una Gran Falla un lado no valìa.

Headphones designed for mixing, they have excellent sound quality. The material, despite being plastic, feels premium quality. For me, they are the best headphones to start in the DJ world based on price and quality.

I bought these headphones as backups to my Pioneer HDJ-CUE's. They didn't last 6 months. If they're going to be in the same place at all times you've got a chance but if you're a mobile DJ that packs them in a backpack, DON'T BUY THESE. My CUE's have been goin 2 years strong and they're less expensive.

The headphones work, feels like high quality. My mistake was buying it used for a lower price because it did not come with the ear padding. Ended up buying 3rd party earphone padding.

Im not sure why these are so highly rated. I was very disappointed that pioneer went to hard plastic instead of metal. And naturally the plastic connector at the swivel broke. It lasted maybe a year and half. Cheaply made. Shame on you pioneer. My hdj-1500 lasted like 10 years. This knock off is a poor replacement.

I thought these being such a high end brand headphones would mean they would be quality, durable, overall long lasting…more than 8 months honestly. I promise as a professional DJ I would not recommend these to anyone! Not even for personal fun use. They are absolutely awful, please save your money and look elsewhere. :(

They are not made of strong material and will break just by adjusting the earpiece.

It turns out that this series of headphones AND OTHERS from pioneer use and inferior form of plastic that begins cracking for no reason. I got mine a month ago and started seeing small pieces fall of of them for no reason. Yup. They’re cracking. $100 down the drain. Sucks. I really enjoyed the comfort and sound quality.

I wanted comfortable, wired headphones with decent sound. Found this HDJ-X5. Very happy so far. Just be careful to put the wire into the grooves correctly in the headphone. Use your eyes. LOL My first try left one side without sound. Easy to remedy though. Just pay attention to the grooves. Would definitely recommend. 5Star Pioneer!

I purchased these headphones after spending about an hour and a half demoing all sorts of brands at a guitar shop in Allen county Indiana. I listened VERY closely to headphones that cost 100's of dollars more than these as well as cheaper ones also. After going back and forth between the Audio Technica mx 40 and 50's and some AKG's I kept going back to these. The Pioneer Pro DJ Black HDJ-X5-K's were just hands down better than all but (2) other headphones at best. So it came down to price and the DJ's just sounded more CLEAR and crisp in treble and punchy bass then 12 others. The sound stage for the 99$'s I spent was just better so much so that I pulled the trigger and have NOT been disappointed these last 6 months. Build quality is good IMHO. I use them for You Tube videos, trap music listening and PC Gaming every week.

Headphone sliding mechanism is cracked above right ear, causing the headphone to occasionally dig into my ear and the side of my head. Considering this headphone is made for DJs and boasts "durability", I expected it to last more than a couple months. Will never buy another Pioneer product again. Pictures are of crack and entire headphone to show just how little wear they have on them.
