The dash speakers in my YJ had been replaced at some point in its life but were blown when I got it. These aren’t a perfect match with the mounting studs but line up good enough to mount on two of the retainers. Install is a pain in the butt, as a YJ dash has to be pulled back to install (Jeep’s poor design) and windshield and roll bar has to be unbolted for that to happen. The sound isn’t bad from these speakers, though the highs and mid bass is where they sound the best. I have noticed that the lower bass notes at a medium to higher volume causes a lot of distortion. I’m going to install bass blockers on them and block the low notes to hopefully cure this issue. After all it’s a Jeep, I need to be able to play high volume so I can hear the music when top and doors are off and I have wind and road noise to compete with.
Update March 8th 2022: I returned the original set due to the driver side speaker blowing and sounding terrible on bass notes. The exchange was free and a pleasant experience. Replacing YJ dash speakers isn’t all that fun (removing the dash) but I got it done in a hour this time and wasn’t to bad. The new set sounds great, but I intend to install bass blocker filters to protect them from really low bass notes (hopefully they won’t blow if I do).

These sound pretty good with the low power I had available for them. I used one of the two for a center channel. It would have been better if they were three way, but the three way speakers I found were garbage. I also tried a JBL GTO series 4x6 and it sounded pretty harsh, so I switched to this one. I already had 4 other Polk marine speakers in the system, so I figured why not? Happy with these speakers so far. They arent gonna be very loud, just fill in sound if you will. But the tonal quality is pretty good.

Installed these behind a vent grill on a boat to get some sound out back near the swim deck. I wanted an oval shaped speaker rather than a round one due to the long, narrow shape of the installation area. These worked out pretty well, and seem plenty sturdy for a marine environment. They don't sound quite as good as the speakers inside the boat, not sure if that's just the nature of a 4x6 vs the original 5.25" speakers, or if it's unique to these speakers. For the price, it all worked out pretty well.

Just what I expected from Polk, excellent craftsmanship and sound.
I love the badges that they come with so that you can install on the stock grill.
I'm running them with a 100 Watt RMS/channel and they sound great without any distortion with a crossover highpass frequency of 100Hz

Looks good, sounds good, and fits the front speaker location in a 2004 TJ perfectly, but Polk Audio DB461 sounds just a little better to me, so i went with that instead, but this is still a great speaker if you want a easy drop in replacement for you Jeep. Just don't forget to buy the adapters, and attach the speakers to them before putting them in the vehicle.
