rough leather
The leather feels pretty rough, and I wish it were much softer. Also, what are those marks on the magnetic snaps? They look scratched or scuffed.
The large size is pretty big, so I actually think the medium might suit me better. I love the design and the embossed floral pattern on the leather.
Personally, I would prefer the bag to have a lining rather than just unfinished leather on the inside, although I’ve noticed that unlined leather bags seem to be pretty trendy right now. There are two interior pockets, which is nice.

I was a little nervous this wouldn’t be the real deal, so seeing it arrive in an actual Portland Leather box was reassuring. The medium size ended up being perfect for everyday use—not too bulky, but enough room for what I actually carry.
I really like the magnetic closures. They keep everything tucked inside without making me fight with a zipper every time I need something.
The dark leather is pretty, although now I’m wishing I’d gone with a lighter color. And honestly… if they made this in suede, I’d be in trouble. 😂
My one real complaint is the leather smell. It is STRONG, and even after a month of consistent use, I can still smell it.
Overall, though, I’m happy with it. Cute, practical, and a really nice everyday size.

Beautiful bag- strap not long enough
The bag is absolutely beautiful and exactly what I am looking for. The leather is gorgeous. There is plenty of room in the bag for a large wallet, a book, phone, and all the other bits you might keep in a purse/bag. I did read a lot about the closure not staying shut, it is very easy to open, but I did not have a chance to test it out.
Unfortunately, the strap is not long enough to hang where I am used to having my purses hang (The strap is about 38” as I measured it.), so I will be returning it. I hate that, I really really loved this bag and wanted it to work out.

Stain wasn’t dry or something when the purse was originally closed because when I first opened the purse, it made a ripping sound, and the stain came off and now that part of my purse where the magnet is will always be messed up.

The coloring peeled off when I first opened it!!
I am sending it back. I have asked them to replace it because it is a beautiful bag but when I opened the bag, the magnetic closures (very strong btw) ripped off the coloring of the leather where they connected. It was as if it was magnetized but also stuck together (like when your bare leg sticks to your leather seats in the summer). Would real leather peel off like this? I don’t know. It seems fishy to me. I’m hoping the replacement, which I have to wait more weeks to receive, doesn’t have this same issue. I’m so disappointed. Especially because the bag is beautiful. 😢

I love my new Portland leather koala sling bag. I’m glad I got the large , which is not that big. I think the medium would be too small for me. It holds everything I need perfectly with a little room to spare. The leather is soft and pliable and, at the same time, holds its shape. There are e pockets for your lipstick, pen, etc. The closing is magnetic and not as secure as a zipper, hence the 4 star rating. I’m careful with my purses, so that doesn’t bother me. However, if you’re a very active person and just throw your purse down instead of hanging it up or conscientiously putting it down, that might be a concern as the magnets might not hold. It came in perfect condition and I love the orchid color. Also it is light weight.

Very happy with this leather bag. Beautiful color and good quality leather. I like the raw edges which are a slightly different color. Inside is unlined and has two small compartments just as described. The magnetic closures seem strong. I have ordered from Portland leather directly for a round leather bag and was so pleased when I saw this bag on Cyber Monday special I grabbed it right up. I was a bit concerned about it possibly being seconds and not Portland leather quality but it is perfect.

Gave this as a gift. Somewhat an embarrassing gifting moment. Marks look like from a permanent marker… they do not wipe off. So, due to this, I am rating as 2 Stars. Overall, nice quality purse but poor quality control if this left their factory in this condition.

Obsessed would be an understatement, this is by far the most amazing quality and most convenient bag I’ve ever owned. The stitching is AMAZING quality, everything about it feels handmade with care. The magnets are so so strong but the perfect amount where it easily snaps open and closed.
The brown is a beautifully perfect neutral color that goes with everything. It’s totally real leather and came packaged SOOOO pretty and neat, with care.
My girl friends would always get onto me about having my purse open at bars, I hate fiddling with zippers. This solves that issue.
As far as size, it’s a smaller bag than I’m used to - but it fits everything I had in my old bag.
I can’t think of a single negative, it’s beautiful and so functional.

Stylish Bag That’s Easy to Love
I can’t say enough good things about this bag. I’ve been carrying it nonstop since it arrived. The design is fun and stylish, and the size is perfect for just heading out for the day with what I need. While I usually go for crossbody bags, this one just looks so good worn over the shoulder. The curved shape makes it sit nicely right under my arm, which feels secure and comfortable.
The rich coffee color is really something special—pebbled for texture and deep enough to go with anything I wear. I do wish the magnetic closure was a little stronger or that it zipped shut, especially since it pops open if you overload it. If you tip it upside down, your stuff will spill out, so I try to keep it light. The two inside slip pockets are pretty snug, so my phone just gets tossed into the main section. Honestly, that’s not a big issue for me because it works perfectly for errands and outings. If you want a bag that’s equally eye-catching and practical, this one is easy to love.

This is my first purse from Portland Leather and so far, I'm obsessed. You can totally tell that it’s made with high-quality leather. The look, the feel, even the smell says “full grain leather.” It is very well made from what I can see. This is no cheapie purse that's gonna fall apart in a year.
I went with the medium-sized sling bag. For me, it's the perfect size for when I don’t want to carry a ton of stuff. It's also a great size for concerts or places with bag size limitations. The magnetic closure is awesome, too! No messing with zippers, buttons, or snaps. It's just quick and easy access. I appreciate the convenience.
I usually wear it as a crossbody, but it works over the shoulder too. The adjustable strap makes it really comfy either way. The inside is also leather (love that), and it has a divider pocket that’s perfect for my phone or for separating miscellaneous items from one another.
Overall, I’m super happy with this bag. It’s stylish, functional, and feels like it’s going to last a very long time. I don't think this will be my only Portland Leather purse, I want more!

Gorgeous Green Sling Bag
I have a couple of Portland Leather Totes, but this is my first shoulder bag from the brand. I'm used to the visible stitching, minimal branding, and unlined interior characteristic of the brand, and those are definitely features that set these bags apart from more traditional brands. For the price, though, this bag is an excellent quality leather, with small pebbling and an even, deep green color (Bacalar). This particular leather holds its shape, even when there's nothing inside, and isn't "slouchy", despite the bag's crescent shape. This isn't a heavy bag, even for being natural leather, so it's not too hard on my shoulders.
The Large Koala bag is about 13" wide at the top, and 7.5" tall. The bag closes with a magnetic flap across the top; there are no zippers on this one. Because of this, I do have to be careful not to overstuff this purse, because the magnets aren't really strong enough to stay closed over protruding contents. However, without cramming, I can fit a wallet, toiletry pouch, small planner, glasses, a phone, and my keys inside. I don't know if the strap is meant to be a crossbody, but I can wear it as one. I'm 5'2", and a US Women's 6-8, and the bag hits me right at the hip, when I wear it as a crossbody, with the adjustable strap fully extended. As a shoulder bag, I like that I can leave the strap long, or shorten it and wear the bag up closer to my armpit. I think that the "Sling" style has a sportier look when worn as a crossbody, and looks more formal as just a short-strap shoulder bag, so I'm loving its versatility. With the style and the standout color, this is becoming one of my new favorite bags for summer, that I think will make a good transition into the fall and holiday season.

This Portland Leather Company handbag is medium sized. It has a clean exterior design without pockets or ornamentation. Inside are two unsecured pockets on one side. The leather itself is thick (each layer is 2.7mm), but supple and gives off a pleasant aroma. There is no interior lining, just bare leather. The bag has two magnetic clasps to hold the main compartment flap shut; the magnets are not particularly strong. The stitching is done well with no loose or frayed ends. My wife rubbed the exterior of the bag with a white cotton cloth and there was no color transfer detectable.
The pricing is moderate and appears appropriate for a genuine leather product that is constructed well. Though nicely crafted and coming from a trendy brand, it is not a luxurious handbag.
Portland Leather Company's customer service reputation is somewhat mixed. Though most online reviews are complimentary, there are a significant number of complaints about their online and retail stores' return process.

Simple Design, Nice Quality Authentic Leather & Some Possible Areas for Improvement
For reference, I’m 5’1 and 88 pounds. I tell you this information because I took a picture of me wearing the bag so you can get a reference on how the bag might look on you.
The bag smells like genuine leather and seems like it is genuine leather. I love the smell of leather. The leather is buttery and feels nice quality. It has a subtle pebbled texture.
The leather strap is adjustable. I able to adjust it to hit above my hip. It doesn’t seem like it can go any lower than that on me.
It kind of looks like a fanny pack that you wear on your side. LOL It’s cute!
I got the beautiful forest green color. Forest green is a great color to wear with Fall and Winter clothes.
I got the small version, but it is big enough to hold my essentials. If you carry a lot of things with you then might want to consider the larger version.
The style is minimalistic. The name and the logo of the company are etched in the bag.
The bag doesn’t have any zippers, but it has magnets to close it. There is a slot on the inside where you can put your phone and wallet to help keep it separate from the other contents in your bag.
I’m always honest so I have to give you my concerns and constructive feedback.
The bag is closed by 2 large magnets one on each side of the bag. When I was sitting in the car, the bag kind of opened because it pushed against the seat belt. I dropped the bag, it opened up and the contents of the bag filled up. I worry that even when it closed something could fall out between the openings. Maybe a third magnet in the middle would be helpful. There have also been a few times when the bag would open when I was walking and wearing it.
It is not necessarily a negative depending on your preferences. But I want to let you know that the edges of the bag do not have a coating and neither does the interior of the bag. However, I understand that this is a handmade bag from a small business with simple design, for a value price considering that it is real, nice quality leather. I have noticed other bags from similar companies with similar prices have this kind of edges too, making it look a little more rustic.
It is a value bag, but I still feel like the price is a little high considering everything. I think $10 cheaper would be a price I’d be more okay with paying, but what do I know? Maybe the rising costs of materials made the bag more expensive to make.
I will continue to use the bag. I will be careful not to let anything tiny fall out or accidentally open it.

A fantastic real leather purse!
It seems like there are a lot of faux leather purses out there, but plastic materials like polyurathane and vinyl just don't hold up to a lifetime of use. Finding a genuine leather purse of this quality at this price point is pretty amazing.
This is a really lovely purse. The leather is soft, thick, and has a suede feel on the inside. Everything is nicely stitched on this purse. The purse has a fold over top with magnets stitched into both sides to make for a nice secure closure without any zippers. Inside the purse is unlined, but does have two leather pockets stitched in. The strap is reasonably long and adjustable for length but not designed to be removed or replaced as it's stitched to the metal hardware (which seems to be of very good quality).
When I presented this beautiful green purse with its embossed tress on one side and brand on the other, my wife immediately was enthralled. My wife loves the scent of leather and was within moments, enjoying the rich scent of this quality leather.
I would buy this purse without a moments hesitation and I am very likely to order some of their other designs, if the quality matches this one. It's really an excellent purse that should last my wife a lifetime.

This is a very well made bag. The color is a much deeper, richer color than my pictures display, and very pretty! The strap is the perfect length, and it is surprisingly light, which is a definite sign of well cured and finished leather. It is quite pliable and soft, and with a zipping pocket inside it would be perfect, but it lacks this. It does have two small pockets inside, where one large one with a closure of some sort would be better. It has magnets on top for a fold over fairly secure lock that keeps it closed. What confused me was it did not come with a dust bag, but it did come with a sheet of stickers. For that amount of money and quality to match, I expect a dust bag, not children’s stickers!

Quality leather, nice style purse
It's not easy to find a good quality leather purse in a blue/navy color. While this cobalt blue leather purse is exactly what I wanted, the color is a bit darker than shown in the ad picture. Mine is more navy (almost black looking). The style is different than any other purse I own, and I like it. I ordered the medium, and it suits my 5'3" height well. The pebbled leather is soft and a very good quality. The strap adjusts easily, but it should be noted that the strap is almost too short for crossbody wear. It does work as such but comes up a little higher than is comfortable for me. I plan on using it as a shoulder strap. The magnetic closure is also new to me, and I like it a lot. The magnets are stronger than I had imagined, and I am less worried now about whether items will fall out. The magnetic opening is very easy to open and close, and it is actually easier than a zipper. This purse is a worthwhile purchase and makes for a very nice accessory to any wardrobe.

The "large" size is LARGE!
This is a very nice, leather bag. From the seller's photos, I thought the bag was going to be like a "fanny pack"-size, so when I received the item I was surprised at how big it is! I did select and order the "large" size variation of the bag, and I received a bag that fits the measurements in the item description - but definitely does not match the photos shown. As you can see from my photo, this is a large bag (and I'm a large person). All that aside, it is quite a nice bag and I'm happy with it. It has an interesting, magnetic closure system that I find helpful but a little concerning at the same time. It's very convenient that I don't have to unzip anything to get into the bag, and that the magnets close the bag automatically, but I am rough on my bags and I worry that the contents of my purse could spill out with only magnets holding them inside. It hasn't happened to me yet - but it will be something I think about when I wear this bag. I am happy with the brown color and I do think this is one of those goods that will age well and get better with time. Can't beat real leather! Thanks.
