4 Year Shelf Life

Apparently these chargers only have a 4 year lifespan...I bought my first Primecom charger in July 2018, it died and bought a new one in November 2022, well, it just blew earlier, wasn't even charging my are at the time. I also have the head unit inside the house protected from the elements...very disappointed, will be looking at a different brand moving forward...

100% recommend

I’ve had this charger for 2 months now and love it. I was using the 110 charger that came with 2024 Equinox but it only gave me about 17% over a 12 hour period at 12 amps, which isn’t enough during the cold winter months. With this charger I get about 50% in about 12 hours and I plug it into my dryer 240V outlet. It was way cheaper than having someone install an outlet in my garage and I figured it would be nice to take on vacations to charge overnight and not have to worry about finding a station and hoping it’s nearby. It’s easy to use, built with a thick cord and while the box is warm after charging for 12 hours it is not hot at all! I love it!

Breaks after limited use!

Tough to see in pic, but display stopped working after a couple years. Some letters/numbers are very bright and the rest are very dim (very hard to read). It’s just been sitting in the garage ever since. Really disappointed because it worked great at first. Reached out to customer service, but outside 12 month warranty.

Easy. Just works.

Works just fine. Easy to use. Spending $20-28 monthly (Feb-May 2024) to power my EV. Simple.

Worked fine .. then one day didn't

Bought this 18 months ago for C-Max and it worked fine, though erratic 'full' charge ranged from 11 to 18 miles?? Anyway, today it started making a loud erratic 'clicking' noise from the black box and fault light comes on, then off. Box has been affixed outside in SoCal out of the weather, and does not show any sign of case / water damage

Updated review after 4 years of use.

Great length to get from my washroom to my driveway. Gets the job done. Not a true level 2 charger but I plug it in every night and still have enough charge to get me around for the day.

Update: 4 years going strong. It has enough power to charge my car up every night. Customer support (the manufacturer) helped me solve one issue long ago and was quick to respond and fix out issue. Highly recommend.

Good Starter, Perfect Length

Bought my first EV (Hyundai Ioniq 5). Needed a charger that would work on my unused dryer outlet. The cost to have a new line ran up to the front of the garage was way too much after buying the car. The extra length allows me to plug it into the back of the garage, run it through the garage, and even enough too not have to back into the driveway. It charges the car at a nice and safe rate and with my Solar & battery, I can charge the car for free: USING THE SUN (last picture). Compared to other units it seems expensive but the cost of having an electrician do a ton of work + moving shelving units along the wall…. Then having to spend roughly the same amount on a similar unit made this price a little better.

Literally the only Con I have is the way it was wrapped took effort to untangle. Made me feel like that scene from Christmas Vacation where he hands the son the ball of Xmas light and says “hmm but of a tangle here”

Simply a great product

I was skeptical of all the 5 star reviews, but it just works. David, who answered the phone when I called, was also a wealth of information on general questions about charging for a BMW i3. I.e. what type of wire to have installed for the outlet, which type of plug will set you up for the future of EV's, etc...Great product and great customer service. I have never seen the point in the extensive charging stations with wifi, notifications, etc...

Worked well

Everything worked well so far. The charger is 240V / 16A (3.2kW), which is faster than the backup charger I had received with my e-Golf, and of course not as fast as the 32A chargers (, which are twice as fast, but twice as expensive as well.

It came in a neatly packed box (can be seen in the pictures), and I would keep it, since there is a lot of cable, and the box seems to organize it well. The cable is in two pieces (again can be seen in the pictures), I'll touch that in a minute. The final connection is a NEMA 14-50 Plug, which was the one used in my workplace.

I asked for the longer cable, since it allows charging when I cannot park directly next to the outlets. However there is a caveat, the longer cable should not be kept in a spool, but rather should have a random loop. Otherwise that essentially becomes a coil, heating up, and possibly causing a fire hazard. (This is general knowledge when you handle large currents over long cables). However I had issues with heating extension cables before (when I was using the 110V backup charger with a wrong extension cord). So make sure you use the correct length, and any slack is not tuned into a coil.

Overall I was satisfied with the charger and for the given cable length and power level it seem like a good deal
