Very compact; performs better than many bigger/costlier radios
The Prunus DE-333 is among the smallest pocket radios you can get, with a width of only 2 inches and a height of 3-1/2 inches. And, it only costs about what you'd pay for a fast food combo meal. But it delivers excellent reception, especially on FM, along with good sound and a DSP (digital signal processing) chip that makes it easy to achieve perfect tuning even of weaker and more distant stations.
After receiving this radio I opened up the battery compartment and put in two AAA batteries. The radio happened already to be turned on, and it came to life with an FM station from about 60 mi away. Finding it surprising that I received this station so easily, I tried a couple of hard-to-receive stations as a test, and this little radio pulled in both of them. Admittedly you do have to tune very slowly to get weaker stations that are right between stronger ones because the tuning thumbwheel is small and it's easy to skim right past them. But if you're patient and move your finger slowly, those weak "in between" stations are there.
AM reception isn't quite as good as FM, which you expect because the internal AM antenna in a radio this size has to be tiny. Still, you do get local and regional stations strongly, and at night many distant ones come in, too.
This radio has a DSP chip that makes it easier to tune precisely. Unlike a radio with conventional circuitry, a DSP radio will usually move directly to the center of the signal when you reach a station. So, there's rarely a need to do any sort of fine-tuning. Once you can hear the station, it's perfectly tuned in.
The sound is crisp and clear. News and talk shows sound very good. Even music sounds surprisingly decent given the size of this radio and its speaker. The audio gets quite loud, as well - and you can turn it up full blast without distortion. So, there's plenty of audio power to let you listen to this radio outdoors or in environments such as factories or other noisy workplaces where you might have to turn it up to hear it over background noise.
Along with the radio you get a nice protective carrying bag with a drawstring closure. It's big enough to carry a couple of extra AAA batteries alongside the radio itself. The carrying bag adds an extra touch of class to a well-assembled, impressively compact radio that already distinguishes itself with competent reception and pleasant sound.

The Little Radio That Could
One block away is the University, which has a public radio station. I am still in the phase of unpacking, rearranging, and only doing groceries and regular stuff, but that will end, and I need to know what is happening and going on. The town does not have a newspaper, and the next town does not bother to report fully on this town's activities. Social media does not cover everything. A sign gets put out about fireworks or bash. Local is cultural and has some unique mixes, but you must know what it means. The radio will help with that. They explain things rather than stare or butt into a line because everybody else knows who they are and what they do. I would say the same thing, but best be prepared for the blowback. To adapt, I need information since the mix is college, rancher culture, small city culture, semi-formals at the library, chaos factor in some groups, and let us test the stranger. Otherwise, it is friendly, but the Internet information does not tell all because of privacy things. Turning on the radio, jazz, several preachers talk about people's problems and music for minorities in the first minutes of listening. A majority of stations are clear, but others have static so far away. Easy to use and dial, it fits in the pocket, so you can take it with you when you know they are talking English (the dominant group), but it does not make sense since it references the local language and incidents. Here begins the local dictionary and encyclopedia of life here with the little radio that could.....inform.

Great addition to a disaster bag
It's a good idea to have a radio for disaster preparedness and this one is ideal because it's so small. I like the fact that it's old-school mechanical and uses AAA batteries so it should effectively work forever. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it can lock on to local stations, and at how clear and loud the speaker is for such a tiny device (though the output quality is improved further over the headphone jack).

This very small AM/FM radio produces good sound
I was surprised that this very small radio could produce a good quality of sound. The sound of both talk and music is good. Of course, the tiny sized speaker can't match the sound quality of large speaker sound systems but the sound is good. I really like that the reception of both AM and FM stations is also good, I don't even have to raise the (attached) antenna, and its very nice that the radio has a small green LED that lights up when you land on a station while while tuning. It has limited sound volume, its probably not great for use in a noisy environment, but it works great on my desktop, I'm listening to it right now while I right this review, and it sounds good. I also like that I can put it in my pant pocket while I carry clothes down to the basement to be washed, and the sound remains good as I walk, and while in the basement. I think its a great low cost radio and I recommend it to you.

Simply perfect
My first impression was, oh wow that's small! We live in the country, out a ways from any radio towers, so I was a bit skeptical how well this radio was going to work. To my surprise, it picks up stations REALLY well! The speaker even sounds good for its size. It's ultra simple to operate. On / off, volume, and tuning dial, that's it. I haven't listened to a radio at home in years, being able to relax and listen to this radio was fun. I think this would also be great for kids, and seniors. I'm really glad I ordered this, and look forward to using it more!

Very very small but works good and the sound is okay.
I like the fact that it's very compact only 3 1/2 in. x 2 1/4 in. and will fit easily in my fishing tackle box. It will help make the time between catching fish a lot less boring and it will help when I go to places like a doctor's office using earbuds of course . The sound of the radio's okay but earbuds really make it sound pretty good . The radio works pretty good and I'm happy with it and I think it's a pretty good deal for $16.00.

Reception is good - really!
The reception on this little radio is really good, and it “catches” stations pretty accurately. This surprised me a little. PRUNUS makes pretty good radios I hear, I guess it’s true. I don’t live in a bad reception area, but sometimes it’s not the best reception area either. This thing is picking up every station well. I’m outside in the morning when I’m writing this and it’s doing quite well at getting everything in. The sound is good for a smaller radio like this. It takes two AAA batteries to power it, and they’ll probably last quite a while. I tested the headphone jack and it worked fine. I think it’s a good portable radio to keep with you in the little sack they send with it. Am/FM stations only though. It would be nice to have weather bands, but not necessarily needed for the intended purpose of the radio itself. I might just get a few of these for Christmas gifts for work!

Like the small Transistor radio of old days
I had more than a few friends that would sneak in a radio like this to their elementary or middle school classes. Sounds great for the price - in AM and FM. I was able to use an older iPhone wired earbud to listen. It worked perfectly during a trip to Budapest. Very easy to use and uses standard AAA batteries. Styling is vintage and my favorite of the selections.

Small but mighty pocket radio just like the old days, only cheaper!
Got this radio for my son and I to take fishing and to ball games. He had actually never seen a transistor radio before. I figured we could save some phone battery life and enjoy a throwback to the old days. This radio doesn't disappoint. The radio itself is very compact. It can easily fit in the palm of your hand or in a pocket. The controls are simple as you'd expect. The radio pulls in signals nice and clear and the built-in speaker is surprisingly loud and clear for a small speaker. To top it off, the radio is inexpensive. Definitely recommended.

Perfect radio for camping and emergencies
I am really impressed by this radio. It is simple to operate and has a light that tells you when you've landed on a strong radio frequency. The sound quality is really there, and it can go loud enough to entertain a group of friends while sitting outside by the fire or camping. The radio itself weighs close to nothing and is smaller than a cell phone (really more like the size of a money clip). It easily fits into pockets and can be packed into any nook or cranny of a camping backpack.
I was initially going to write about how I hoped it would come with a battery and be rechargeable, but I've changed my tune. By taking AAA batteries, it is easy to just pack a few extra batteries for a backpacking trip and just swap them out instead of having to rely on any other charging method.
If you are expecting a radio with bluetooth/flashlight/other bells & whistles, this is not the product for you. However, if you are looking for a small radio for when you need it, this 100% fits the bill. I highly recommend for any emergency or camping kit.

Very Pocketable Radio
This radio is super small, which is exactly what I needed! I needed something small that I could fit into my emergency grab-and-go kit, and this radio fits perfectly in there. Like, I knew it was going to be small, but holy cow. I uploaded a picture of my old house key on the radio just to give you a good size comparison.
For its size, the sound quality is fine, and it can get surprisingly loud. You won't be listening to music on this enjoyably, but if you're looking to get weather and emergency broadcasts on it, it will do that really well. The dial is very finicky so it's hard to get a solid setting because even the slightest movement of the dial will change the tuning drastically. But, if you're slow and calm with it, you'll be just fine.
Highly recommend for any emergency kit, or if you just need a pocket sized radio with you for any reason.

A simple little radio that works well
I confess that I bought this radio primarily out of nostalgia. As a kid, I had a couple of transistor radios that looked like larger versions of this. These radios were my main source for music back then and I have fond memories. On a more practical note, I wanted a dependable small radio for power outages and potential emergencies, and this fits the bill.
Nowadays you just don't see a dial on a radio anymore and I kind of miss it for some reason. Back then, finding a clear radio station could be frustrating--move the dial .001 of a millimeter and you get a loud blast of static that hurts your ears until you find the station .002 mm the other way around. Fortunately, technology has improved since then as well as the broadcast signals in most places. I live in average sized Midwest city and easily found about a dozen clear signals using the dial on this radio. There is also a tuning light that helps identify the best reception. I was pleasantly surprised at the sound quality.
This came with the ubiquitous suede drawstring bag which will help to protect the radio while carrying in a purse or backpack. It is quite lightweight and will stand upright on a flat surface. Battery life seems normal to good depending on use. People who are too young to remember these radios back in the day may be disappointed. This is not a stereo receiver so with headphones you will hear the same sound in both ears. But if you are not using headphones, you won't notice the difference.

Impressive Fidelity
This portable lightweight radio is small but mighty! Its fidelity is impressive coming from such a small unit. The station/tuning thumbwheel is sensitive and requires a light touch, but there is no sound bleed from nearby stations, even within very close bandwidths. So, when you tune into a station, the signal is solid and the sound is clear with no interference from other stations. A green signal light on the front of the radio indicates when you are tuned into a station.
The earphone jack is standard, and connection is stable; the sound using headphones is good also.
The length of this mini radio is about 3.5", the width is 2", thickness is approximately .5" and when the antenna is extended, the total length is 10.5". The casing is molded plastic, which seems to be good quality. There is no clip on the radio for attaching it to anything. It is not waterproof.
WHAT'S IN THE BOX: mini radio, fabric drawstring storage bag, manual.
The radio requires two AAA batteries to operate, which are not included. There is no option for USB or other corded charging. The battery compartment has a hinged door, which is not removable. Battery installation and removal is easy. There is a battery ribbon and when it is time to change batteries, pull on the ribbon (which you put under the batteries when inserting them) and the batteries will pop out for easy replacement.
This mini-radio fits easily into pockets, purses, backpacks or waist packs, so it works great for camping and other outdoor activities. I also like that I can use it when the power goes out for an additional source of local news and emergency information if needed.
Overall, this is a good value for price and performance!

Tiny - but mighty!
This radio is exactly what I wanted. Filling out my to-go emergency bag, I wanted a portable radio that would neither add additional weight nor take up unnecessary space. With just 2 aaa batteries needed (not included} it was just a matter of sliding the power switch to either "am" or "fm" mode. The volume and clarity is amazing, as can be seen in the video. Very pleased with this and would highly recommend. It is tiny - but mighty!

Excellent shirt pocket radio!
The Prunus DE-333, a great shirt pocket (credit card size) radio. One of the best FM stereo headphone experiences I have ever had. FM through the speaker is spectacular. MW is good also. Speaking of audio. Don't let the small speaker size fool you. The audio quality is excellent and LOUD. You also get a handy mesh pouch to store the radio in. For the money this is a must buy.

What a great buy for such a small price and such a powerful little radio!
I was concerned about the clarity of reception as I live surrounded by tall trees; however, this little radio's sound is amazing. I bought this for an emergency earthquake kit; however, I will be using this way more frequently due to the quality of the sound on both AM and FM. Very pleased! Highly recommend.
