Compact Pocket Radio With Solid Versatility

At the time of this review, the item was listed at $15.99, which represents a solid bargain for this sort of multi-functional pocket radio.

Securing an integrated rechargeable cell, Micro SD card playback, and Bluetooth headphone transmission at this price threshold is relatively uncommon, as many alternatives in this tier rely on disposable AAA batteries and bare-bones analog tuners. While the lightweight plastic chassis clearly reflects budget manufacturing constraints, the compact footprint and functional belt clip make it easy to carry for yard work or walks. In practical use, the FM band pulled in local stations cleanly, whereas AM reception proved susceptible to standard electromagnetic noise indoors. The internal driver delivers crisp dialogue suited for spoken-word programming, though physical acoustic boundaries limit low-frequency response, and volume levels introduce harmonic distortion when driven to their limit. Operating life was dependable, yielding roughly eight to nine hours of mixed radio and card playback per charge. Initial operation is straightforward once the unit is topped off via USB, though loading an MP3 playlist onto an external card helps simplify initial testing.

Despite its modest acoustic depth and lightweight build, the device provides reliable, utilitarian performance for everyday portable listening.

Decent FM tuning, but poor AM tuning.

This little radio/mp3 player/ Bluetooth speaker works well enough for most things. The tuning is analog but for FM it works pretty well, digital would probably be better. However the AM tuning indoors is very poor. I was unable to tune a single station in a major metropolitan area at night. I do think it will get some use at baseball games or out walking, so long as the game is on FM.

THE ULTIMATE MINI RADIO YOU'LL EVER REQUIRE

I absolutely love this compact radio; it has taken the place of my previous one. The best part is that I no longer have to rely on batteries. A quick charge gets me started on my classical music adventure. The audio quality is remarkably crisp and clear. Additionally, the radio stations come in exceptionally well. It easily picks up all the channels. The antenna is quite thin and delicate, so I need to handle it with care when extending or retracting it. However, with this little radio, I find that I rarely need to extend the antenna since the channels come in so clearly even when it's down. By "little" radio, I mean a charming little gadget that exceeds the length of a credit card by a small margin! I don't use the back clip that comes with it, and I don't wear headphones. I probably won't use it as a Bluetooth speaker either. Although I've never tried putting music on a mini SD card, I might consider giving it a shot in the future. This radio is truly amazing, packed with fantastic features. PRONUS has become my go-to brand for hand-held radios.

Great little radio — and apparently a history lesson for my son

My oldest son loves this little radio, which has been pretty funny because none of my boys really understood the concept of listening to an actual radio. No skipping a song you don’t like, commercials you have to sit through, and actually tuning in a station. Watching him figure that out has been entertaining by itself.

The radio is surprisingly well made for something this small. It feels solid, the controls are easy to use, and the back clip is convenient if you want to carry it around. The sound quality is much better than I expected from such a compact radio. It gets plenty loud without sounding terrible or distorted, and reception has been good so far.

He also likes having the Bluetooth and Micro SD options, so it’s more versatile than just a basic AM/FM radio. The rechargeable battery is another big plus since we’re not constantly replacing batteries.

My only concern is the antenna. It’s thin and feels like it could be the first thing to break, especially with a kid using it regularly, so we’ll see how it holds up over time. So far, though, no problems.

Overall, this is a surprisingly good little radio. Good sound, useful features, compact size, and it feels like a good value for what you get. Most importantly, my son genuinely uses it — even if he’s still slightly offended that the radio station gets to decide what song comes on next.

Easy to use and very versatile!

This pocket radio gets good FM and AM reception and you can play FM radio in mono or stereo with headphones. The pocket clip is okay but I don’t really carry this radio around, it mainly use it on my desk in a static/stationary position. The radio can be recharged via it's USB-C input, the radio comes with a USB-A to USB-C cable but my phone charger and USB-C to USB-C cable works fine for recharging it. You can use the radio while it is charging. You can connect your phone to this radio and use it as a Bluetooth speaker or you can connect the radio to your Bluetooth headphones and use the radio wirelessly. I tested both functions with my iPhone 15 Pro Max and 1st gen AirPods Pro, both devices worked as expected with no issues. You can play music from a TF card, I tested it with a 32GB card formatted as FAT32 and it worked great. The sound quality through the speaker isn’t bad but it’s not fantastic either, it sounds a bit tinny at high volume. The antenna does seem a bit fragile when it’s fully extended but the radio gets good reception with it retracted so I usually don’t worry about extending the antenna. The radio does sound great through 3.5mm wired or Bluetooth headphones. I think this radio is a well built unit for the money, it functions perfectly and it’s easy to navigate. This is a great radio for people of all ages.

Decent little radio, fragile antenna needs careful handling

This pocket radio punches above its weight in terms of sound quality. For something this small, the audio coming out of the speaker is genuinely impressive, and switching to FMS (FM Stereo) mode gives you noticeably better sound quality compared to standard FM. Tuning is straightforward with the analog dial, so finding your stations doesn't take any fiddling around.

That said, the build quality is where things get a little shaky. The plastic body feels cheaply made, which is worth keeping in mind if you're rough on your gadgets. The extendable antenna is especially concerning. It's very thin and feels like it could bend or snap if you're not being careful with it. Just something to be aware of when extending or collapsing it.

On the plus side, the features packed into this tiny unit are pretty useful. You get AM, FM, and FM Stereo modes, Bluetooth earphone output for private listening, and SD card playback if you want to load up your own music. That last feature is a nice touch for people who want one device to handle multiple audio sources without needing a phone or internet connection. If you treat it gently and don't expect a rugged build, it does what it promises at a compact size that easily slips into a pocket.

Small, Simple, and functional

I like this little radio. The first thing that stands out is the size. It is small and lightweight enough to clip onto my jeans, shirt, or even my bike without feeling like I'm carrying anything heavy.

More importantly, the reception is clear, and the sound is quality for such a small radio. That's really what I care about most with a portable radio. I have a couple of radios around the house, including battery-powered and crank-powered ones that I keep for emergencies, and this one is a nice addition to that collection.

The Bluetooth connection was not bad either, and it worked as expected. Personally, I prefer wired earbuds or over-the-ear headphones, and those work great with this radio too. So I like having the choice depending on what I'm doing.

I also like that it is rechargeable through USB instead of requiring disposable batteries. That's convenient for everyday use and especially useful when I'm carrying it around or taking it outside.

This isn't some fancy, sophisticated radio with a huge display and a bunch of complicated features. It's a simple, compact, budget-friendly little radio that does what I need it to do. I can listen to the radio while walking, working around the house, gardening, or riding my bike, and the clip makes it easy to keep with me.

For the price and size, I'm happy with it. Sometimes simple is exactly what you need.

Compact Radio, Big Features

I love how small and versatile this radio is. It has surprisingly good AM/FM reception, and the Bluetooth feature makes it especially convenient when I want to listen privately with earbuds or headphones. I also like having the option to play music from a TF card or use it as a Bluetooth speaker.

The rechargeable battery, back clip, and lightweight design make it easy to carry around while walking, gardening, traveling, or relaxing at home. It’s simple to use, takes up very little space, and packs a lot of functionality into such a tiny radio. Really cool little device!

An excellent FM stereo receiver at a crazy low price. Definitely recommended!

It's rare that I have come across a pocket radio that sounds as good as this one. And when I do I always ask myself why I spend as much as I do on music streaming services.

What differentiates this pocket radio from other pocket (and many larger) FM radios is the built-in FM stereo decoder. FM broadcast fidelity is good, but through a pair of quality earphones or headphones, FM stereo broadcasts rival streamed music in fidelity (and in many cases actually best it). Thank you PRUNUS for including FM stereo!

This particular radio is very small, fitting easily into a shirt pocket or briefcase. And it is feather light.

Bluetooth connectivity was rock solid. It paired with my iPhone immediately and stayed locked in without a burble. Audio quality over Bluetooth is superb! (I will admit I don't think I'll use this feature much--I will just listen to the music directly on my iPhone.)

I can't really attest to battery life other than to say it's a long time! I ran it all day and into the evening on the factory charge it came with. It recharges through a USB-C port on the top panel (see photo).

Functionally it does everything I could want. In addition to AM, FM, FM stereo, and Bluetooth, it also accepts microSD cards through a built-in side panel slot. I popped in a card onto which I had recorded several MP3 files and they began playing nearly instantly. Fidelity through headphones was superb. Files can be played, skipped past, stopped, started, and replayed through easily interpreted front panel buttons.

The built in speaker is adequate for listening to sports broadcasts, talk radio, or other speech material, and it is amazingly loud and low in distortion. But music sounds--as you would expect from a speaker so small--far less impressive than it sounds through earphones or headphones.

The side tuning knob operates smoothly enough, though I would have preferred a geared-down tuning rate. As it is, a tiny nudge of the knob moves the tuned frequency a lot. The front panel tuning dial is nicely done, but I found it interesting (and amusing) that the map has Sub-Saharan Africa as its center and doesn't show the Western Hemisphere (or China) at all. Interesting...

As for possible areas for improvement on the follow-on model, I would suggest that the 10" telescoping antenna (for FM reception) would benefit from a rotatable joint at its base so that a listener could lay the radio on its back and still extend the antenna vertically, where it works best. As it is, you have to set the radio upright--where it is susceptible to being knocked over--to receive weak stations. I should point out that FM reception is seriously outstanding. I was listening to stereo broadcasts from a station nearly 50 miles away.

Overall this is an EXCELLENT sounding portable STEREO radio at a crazy low price. It's an amazing value.

Ready to break the expensive streaming habit and try free FM stereo broadcasts instead? This might be the radio for you.

Absolutely recommended.

Great Rechargeable Radio for Emergencies

I’m very happy with this pocket radio. It’s compact and lightweight, so it’s easy to carry around. The AM/FM reception works well, and the sound is surprisingly clear for such a small radio.

I also really like the extra features, especially the Bluetooth capability, headphone output, and Micro SD playback. Being rechargeable is another big plus since I don’t have to keep replacing batteries.

One of the main reasons I especially appreciate this radio is that I live in an area where we can experience tropical storms and hurricanes. Having a small, portable rechargeable radio like this is excellent for emergency situations. I can charge it wherever I have access to a power source ahead of time, and once charged, I don’t have to depend on disposable batteries or keep it plugged into electricity while using it.

For its compact size and price, it offers a lot of useful features. It’s great for everyday use, but I especially like having it as part of my hurricane and emergency supplies.

As a USB-C Rechargeable analog radio, this works great, with fm station function

About the size of a credit card or perhaps a shade bigger, it will take your entire pocket if your t shirt has a top pocket or most of the pocket in your jeans, but it does have a slide clip that attaches to the exterior of your shirt or jeans. It is quite thick, though, so it will stick out from whatever. Charges via USB-C, and lasts at least 12 hours that I've had this running without a recharge via headphones. ('m assuming it lasts less when using the external speaker since exzternal speaker takes power)

I really like that it uses an analog dial and buttons, no lcd's or displays.
