Flexible inexpensive fill light
I love this fill light from Puluz. 18 inches, 132 LEDs, infinite range.
This is a fantastic photography accessory. Having a tripod mountable off-axis (and moderately diffuse) fill light gives so much flexibility. The white color range is excellent; adjustable from 2500K-9000K in increments of 10 degrees. I can now perfectly match golden hour tones with a fill light. It is also light enough to hold in hand while shooting. The only problem I have is that I couldn't use the light while shooting it.
The color range is excellent as well. I can choose hue, brightness, and saturation to match whatever light I need. I do with the brightness change was a bit more gentle on the low end. Moving from 0% to 1% is like flipping on a lamp. Fortunately the rest of the range is more gentle.
I also appreciate how flexible this is for goofing around. At a recent early Halloween event, some of the lighting effects were great to have. It also provided some extra security for wandering around on a dark night. At the current price of around $32, not only is this a good deal, but I didn't have to worry about it getting damaged. Also the back of the light body is an aluminum heat sink adding to durability. It is a great tool for work or play, and is a good value.

fine control of hue. saturation and intensity? not so much
Versus most RGB LEDs, this one provides direct access to color triples, and, more unusual, it does so in HSI space. The interface isn't all that intuitive, but it works. There are four buttons. The on-off button also functions as a mode selector button, and the M button, which I expected to mean "memory", cycles among the variables. For white, these include temperature and intensity. For HSI, they cycle through hue, saturation, and intensity. The variable resolution isn't all that great. For saturation and intensity you get percentages, rather than 0-255 as you might like for 24-bit color. Hue has a surprising 360 degrees.
It will take some effort to calibrate these values line up with a 24-bit triple, but, for my use, I'll either quickly select what looks good, or have a pre-planned triple that I've mapped to another visual. I'm not sure how much I believe the accuracy when saturation and intensity are lower, but at 100% hue looks pretty good.
(Note: the status display looks wrong in the picture, that's due to the refresh rate of the display. It looks fine in person.)

too dim to be useful
I got the 18" version hoping to use it as a backlight in my video setup and to spill some color across the wood slats in my office background. I also tried it in my basement studio against a plain grey wall. In both spots, the light was way too dim to show up on camera. Even in my basement studio, the glow was faint, and in my office in the daylight it disappeared completely on camera.
You can change color and brightness through a bunch of button presses, and the controls work fine—they just don’t save the fact that the light itself isn’t bright enough. Maybe it would look better in total darkness, but then the camera wouldn’t see anything else anyway.
I wouldn’t buy it again. The build and controls are nice, but it just doesn’t make enough light to do anything useful.
