Installed this in our bedroom nearly 6yrs ago, it still works great and we are still loving it! I find it much more “convincing” than other electric fireplaces, in part due to the real 3D depth it has. The selectable crackle noise and heater settings are nice features as well we use quite a bit especially in winter. Sorry it took so long to write this review!

Absolutely beautiful fireplace and love the crackling sounds! Easy to install and looks beautiful! Throws off some serious heat.

It’s beautiful. Has everything you could want from an electric fireplace. Crackling sound, smoldering logs, okay flames, heat or no heat easy install. My tech sons say the sound is horrible, I say the flames could be improved my husband says the heat needs a stronger blower/ fan. But it’s electric if you want real pay for the expenses of a real fireplace.

The PuraFlame Western 33" electric fireplace insert was easy to install. The cord was a good length. Operation was easy and fan was very quiet when using on low or high fan for heat. Crackling noise was ok. The trim kit was easy to put together also. I would recommend this product.

I love it..easy to set up... only needed a little framing to create a insert and shelf on top.... but afterwards looked exactly like a fireplace..without all the hassle of the real thing

We just moved to florida and I was missing my fireplace. We found a guy that could build one for us so we just needed to buy the insert. I wanted the flame to appear real and man! This one is beautiful! I cannot wait for cooler weather and having the ambience all fall long! I love it!!

I’m very happy with this electric fireplace. It looks beautiful once installed and gives the room a warm, cozy, and elegant feel. The flame effect and glowing logs look realistic, and the black frame complements the wall perfectly. The remote control makes it convenient to operate, and it fits beautifully underneath the TV. It was a great addition to the space and exceeded my expectations.

This was very easy to set up and it looks gorgeous. We don’t have an outlet in our fireplace as it’s a real fire place we don’t use. The cord easily came out the slot on the side to plug into the wall. The only criticism I have is the crackling sounds you can turn on sound very tinny and fake. But the wood looks real and I love that it’s glass enclosed so it’s cat proof.

Great quality. Great price. Realistic look. Couldn't be happier with this fireplace insert. I had a cabinet maker build a cabinet for the insert. I barely had room, but it came out perfect.

This was a wood-burning fireplace for almost 25 years, then converted to gas for another 10 years, but we stopped using it because of concern for the fumes as well as the hot glass doors with our small grandchildren always around.
We so missed the ambience that now, after almost another 10 years of non-use, I decided to get an electric insert.
It was quite costly to disconnect the gas and retrofit the insert into the opening while still preserving the brass bullnose trim already there.
IT WAS ALL WORTH IT!! The look is as close to the real thing as any I have ever seen. My friend has a much more expensive insert and this flame is far more realistic looking.
We are absolutely thrilled!!

Love this fireplace. The flame appearance is amazing. The way they flicker and the way the log glows looks so realistic. I built a custom wall unit just for this insert and it does not disappoint. I did not even need to anchor it in place, it sits in position perfectly. If you’re on the fence about buying this, don’t be. You won’t regret it and the customer service is top-notch. You will get two separate packages. If you get the trim kit don’t be discouraged about getting tracking only for one item because the other item will come. I asked customer service about it when I only received the trim kit and they were quick to respond and provide tracking information for the fireplace. Insert itself if I ever need another one I will definitely come back great product.

We bought this unit in 2021 and it is still working great! It is beautiful and makes the world of difference in our bedroom. Our bedroom is above the garage and is always 8 to 10 degrees colder than the rest of the house in the winter. More beautiful than any space heater, we even purchased another one from this same company for our living room.
The other one is shown below although it is not completed.

I’m soooo happy with my fireplace choice the crackle sound tops it off and the wood logs in the grate make it very realistic embers and all!! . I changed from a touchstone option when I found this one!!!! We just built this builtin with my fireplace it’s still not finished haha but the fireplace is in yay!!

Great I’m super happy a wonderful cozy fire and I don’t have to keep getting up to add more wood. It’s very realistic to me. my son laughed calling me a fraud, but I’m glad to have my fireplace back. The box said team lift which means use somebody to help. It should say or one determined Gen X woman. On my own I got it in the house and installed. Can’t wait for my smoke candle to arrive. The dog would not lay in front of it. I think he thinks it’s real. Crackling sounds a bit mechanical at times

I haven't had this officially installed yet I have someone coming to put an outlet in the fireplace and remove the old gas logs. It arrived promptly was so well packaged just basically plug in and enjoy. It's going to fit my space perfectly. It looks great and puts out a good amount of heat.
Update, November 15. I finally had it installed. Don't hesitate to buy this unit--for the money you can't beat it. It has totally changed the feel of my living room!!

This thing is awesome. I measured the space and it fit everything except depth which was my bad. My contractor got creative and built out a frame behind it to make it work. The cord is pretty short, too but we are working on that since this is a basement reno and we can add a plug closer to the unit. The plug cord comes out of the right side of the unit. The remote is easy to use and works from anywhere in the room. The built-in space heater is amazing. On high, it makes my 150 square foot, chilly room very toasty in about 10 minutes. The three flame settings are cool and we prefer the medium and low settings. The fire sound effects sound like someone lit a tiny fire in a tin can, so that's never going to get turned on. I didn't buy this for the sound feature. I bought it so that I have heat, a nice fire glow and no fire smell or messy fireplace. Overall, we love it and highly recommend!

After so much research with reviews on inserts and dimensions. This one fit our tv stand the best and our budget. I’m so very happy with this! Literally just inserted it and plugged it in. Now we have the coziest living room we wanted. I love that I have the choice of the crackling sound and at different volumes. The burning wood looks so real and the flames are orange and yellow. We don’t need the heat but it puts off a good amount of heat. The sound of the fan is barely noticeable. I recommend this to anyone looking for a realistic fireplace without the hassle.

It’s a perfect fit!! I plan to order the trim kit to close the gap on top. The insert came very well packaged and came all in one piece. No assembly required. All I did was unbox it, slide it into my fireplace and plug it in. I also bought the recommended extension cord. The remote works great and this little fireplace puts out a lot of heat. It’s VERY quiet and looks like a real fire. I love it!

I had been looking for years for an insert for my unusable fireplace in my 100 yr old house. Found this one and the other reviews were good so I got it. So glad I did! This insert is amazing, super easy to assemble, fit the space perfectly, looks realistic whether it's off or on, casts a very nice glow at night. In fact I'm thinking about getting a couple more for the dining room and my bedroom.

Ordering an electric fireplace online sight unseen was pretty risky.... ordering TWO of them seemed even more crazy. We wanted these in place, along with some new furniture, before Thanksgiving, so we bit the bullet and ordered them.
We are extremely happy with the new fireplace(s) and in fact they have exceeded our expectations! They arrived quickly and were well packaged. In fact, the trim piece (shipped separately) was packaged so well, I would say it was overkill!
We bought these primarily for look and ambiance and the fireplace looks even better than we expected! The log set and flames are quite realistic - despite the obvious that it's not a real wood-burning fireplace. These fireplaces have added a wonderful finish to both our family and living rooms.
We had no expectation that these would provide any significant heat. The documentation and reviews also never claimed these fireplaces would provide anything more than supplemental heat. The family room is a bit over 400 sqft and the living room about 300 sqft. In addition to the ambiance, we were just hoping to take the chill out of the air and had no expectation these would "heat the house." And of course they don't.
However, they provide much more heat that we expected! In fact, enough heat is produced in the front of the house that we have not yet turned on our gas furnace. Granted, we're in No. California and of course do not have extreme weather - although just this morning the outside temps were in the mid 30's. Our house is 65 yrs old and if we don't run the heater in the winter, the inside temp will drop below 60. We're comfortable at 66deg, but colder than that we typically would be running the heater.
Of course our house, it's layout, insulation, etc. is different and so I wouldn't go by our results because your situation will be different. But for us, again, the heat output far exceeded our expectations. For example, since we installed, the temp inside several times has been as low as 59 deg. The house thermostat for the furnace is about 15ft from the livingroom fireplace and 20 or more from the family room fireplace. These two fireplaces together have been raising the inside temp to 66-68 degrees. Yes, it takes a couple of hours to reach, but we are so pleased that there is enough heat to indeed, take the chill off.
We're giving this a 5 star rating because we are so happy with not only the looks, but the heat performance as well. In all fairness, there are some quirks that others may want to know.
The flame feature set is just 3 settings. Fine by us as we're not interested in purple or blue flames.... :-) The "cracking" sound is really just a novelty and nothing we'll ever turn on. And just 2, non-adjustable heat settings. The remote is simple and we love the flame and log set as is and so no need for 8 differrent colors...
Lastly, the big elephant in the room is the cost of electricity. We've only been running these less than a month and I fully expect our electric bill to go UP. How much? No idea yet. What I do know is that we've yet to run the old, gas furnace that also chews up electricity from the large blower. So we'll see if there's any cost savings. I kinda doubt it. But we didn't get these to replace central heating.
Overall, we are so very pleased with our purchase!

So after doing a lot of research and looking for the perfect size, the perfect light ambience the perfect sound of as close to realistic as I can get I finally found it and I am so glad and actually I wanna buy another one. It puts off a good amount of heat. It fits perfectly in any aesthetic. I wouldn’t even second-guess it. I would just go and buy it if I were someone else looking for exactly what I was.

This electric fireplace was a very reasonable price. Very easy install, you can plug in or hardwire. It can warm the room that you are in. You can turn the crackle of the fire on and control the sound or just enjoy the look of the flame. It gives that cozy feel of sitting by the fire. We have had this for about a year now and still love it!!! The cats also love sitting by it!!! For size reference it’s a Maine Coon cat that weighs about 25lbs.

It looks fairly realistic when it's off but when it's running you can see the lights cycling on the wood. It had great heat output along with a thermostat to help regulate the heat. This is a great product for the money and I'd definitely recommend it to someone doing a quick DIY build. Be aware that there are other more realistic looking ones out there but they're certainly more expensive. I guess you get what you pay for. But overall, this is a great product and I'm happy with my purchase. Installation was a breeze. I built a box around it and sat it right inside with no fuss - I just made sure there was enough space behind it for intake. The back of it doesn't heat up at all and it stays cool to the touch even after running it for a few hours. My wife is always cold so somedays we keep it running most of the day and our energy bill hasn't had any noticeable increases.

We had a ventless gas fireplace that was over 20 years old and making our windows dirty with a gray film. Enough.
I started looking for electric fireplaces with heat that might fit the insert opening, and came across this Puraflame unit. It had great reviews and fit the opening!
It came a week earlier than expected and was packaged incredibly well. After removing the old gas unit and capping the line, this Puraflame slid right in. I only had to add some 3/4” blocking on the bottom to fill a small gap, and covered that with a black painted strip of wood molding. Looks like it was made for the old fireplace cabinet. There was already an electric outlet inside the cabinet, so it was just plug and play.
So, this thing is never going to fool anyone, but it really adds a nice feel and look to the room. It’s truly well made and thought out. Solid quality feel. The fake logs aren’t the most realistic, but the lighting effects help hide that. The flames are totally silent, and we don’t care for the fake crackling effects. In the video, you can hear the heater running. It’s pleasantly quiet, and puts out enough heat to stand in front of and warm you right up.
This thing is lots of bang for the buck, and we’re happy we chose it.

Purchased to use to warm up my family room when my elderly mother, who is always cold, watches tv. I installed this in my working wb fireplace which I haven't used since she came to live with me because the smoke and ash is not good for her to be around. It was an almost perfect fit, I had to put a 3/4" board under the front and mid way the fire box for it to sit on to eliminate a gap at the top. Photo shows the nice fit. The blower is not as forceful as I'd like it to be but it did warm the room nicely. Another thing I find a negative is the remote control...you have to almost be touching the unit before the remote works. They really need to invest some time and $'s in developing one that works better....then send all of us a new one to replace what we received. The flames are about the nicest I've seen and the crackling sounds a little better than what you hear on the video and it was set to loudest setting. All in all I'm happy with the purchase and hope it gives me many years of use.

I absolutely love the change this Puraflame insert made in my home. The photos show the transition from having a pellet stove insert (which was great for heat output, but a hassle to clean and no longer needed after getting a split duct heating system), to the old, bare fireplace opening after taking out the pellet stove, to how it now looks with my Puraflame installed.
It arrived by UPS in perfect shape and the packaging was superb. I ordered the 33 5/64 x 21 inch model to fit the height limit of the opening and had to put in some simple 2x4 framing on the bottom and sides to cover the remaining gaps. I also used 6” floor molding painted flat black to build a trim surround to cover up the 2x4’s but more importantly because I wanted it to not look like a TV stuck into a fireplace opening. The trim gives it more depth and a much more appealing look in my opinion.
The unit works perfectly and provides the most realistic looking fire I’ve seen, so much better than other options. The heat output can’t compare to my pellet stove obviously but we were only using that for backup heat during power outages at this point so it was nothing more than a vacant showpiece without a flame 99% of the time. Now, I can have a cozy, soothing “fire” going all the time and it adds so much more warmth and peacefulness to the house. Using the heat option is easy and useful if I need it.
I am so happy I bought this. Highly recommended as an easy, elegant way to upgrade and add true coziness to your home.

Nothing to dislike! This fireplace is plug and play easy. You just need to remember to read directions using the remote.
It has heat when you want it, different ranges of crackling sounds, different intensities of flame effect, and looks like a real fire burning up logs. We love it.
My only problem is when pointing the remote, it is hard to find the right spot to click on things.
You can place it anywhere. We sealed the fireplace that had gas logs and just inserted this one in and plugged it on.
Of course, measuring is important but you probably won't find a size ti fit right. Pur fireplace is too big for the sizes offered, so I got a black sheet of cardboard and carefully cut it to fit around all the gap areas. It looks like one of those metal surrounds they sell that are expensive but cardboard is cheap! I cut it out on three sides since the insert rests on the floor of the fireplace.
Cord is not too long, so I do use an extension cord. I had to run the insert cord around the back of it to reach the extension on the other side.
Love it!

After doing much research on different fire box inserts and what would work best with my mantle I choose this one. I was impressed that it was well packaged to avoid damage. If I ever need to return it, it came with clear instructions on how to do so. It was very easy to install. I like the fact that it has handles on the sides for easy lifting.
The glass is clear and the flames shows up well. even during the daylight.
The heater works enough to take the chill out of the autumn air. My little apartment gets very drafty in the winter so I’m really going to be putting it to the test then. I don’t expect this to be my primary heat source. I wish it had more than three flame settings. It has a high with blue, middle and low with no blue. The remote is a little confusing wish it had an extra button so that I don’t accidentally turn on the heat. the size of remote is small, it would be easy to loose. I like that it has a safety shut off with a thermostat. Would be even bey if it had a sleep timer. I bought a fire cracker several years ago, It makes it very realistic to hear the sound of a crackling fire.
I like the brick background. The flames look actually better in person than they do on video. I am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend this to anyone looking for an insert .

I really have no complaints about this 26" version that I recessed into a wall. The flame pattern and flickering log set are very real especially when viewing from further away. Other reviews are correct about how well made and sturdy the firebox is. Upon unboxing I just plugged it in and turned it on. The white power cord is connected to the upper left side of the unit (if you are looking the back end) and extends about 5 feet. In my case, I cut a hole in a wall slightly larger than the size of the fire box and slipped it in. The cut out was made directly in front of an open space behind the wall which happens to be below a staircase landing. So I had plenty of room for at least 8 inches of depth for the unit.
I left about an inch and a half of space between the top of the unit and underneath the top wall cutout. Be advised the inside top of the unit gets very warm when the heat is on high so I will be keeping a close eye on heat build up inside that wall. I can always install a strip of cement board to prevent heat from going up the inside wall. For power I am fortunate this unit is installed about 12 inches above the ceiling in my basement so I ran a dedicated line/receptacle to the ceiling joist and dropped the power cord through a hole in the floor. Wires are totally concealed. Keep in mind this is a glorified space heater so plugging into a plug nearby should be fine as long as there is not too much on that circuit. Because of resistance and voltage drop over length it is never a good idea to use an extension cord for any electrical heat.
The unit simply slides in and there is no need to anchor the frame to the wall unless you drill noticeable holes in the front of the frame. Although the weight of the unit keeps it in place inside the wall I may make a shelf so the back bottom surface can rest. The top, left and right sides have a 1 inch lip; there is no lip on the bottom. I can very easily pull the unit forward from the top and extract it from the cut out if needed for any reason but, as long as the unit works well, I may just caulk the bottom edge and leave it alone.
Heat is blown from the upper left of the unit and the fan is very quiet on high; kind of like the sound of forced air through ceiling vents in a quiet room or computer fan. The room is about 13 X 9 and the ceiling height is about 9 feet and there are 3 good sized windows in the room with lounge chairs directly in front of the windows. There is also two long, forced hot water baseboards for regular heat. The windows in this room (they are about 10 years old) make it drafty in there on very cold days (if highs are in the 20s F) so we hope this will help . I don't think it would heat the room very well if only this unit was used. In fact, I was slightly disappointed with the heat output but a stronger fan would have meant more noise. So we'll see how it goes. That said, if you just came in from being out in the cold and stood in front of the unit it will help to warm you up more quickly.
