retro looking, heavyweight radio ( t-shaped ferrite antenna bar missing )

upon checking the firmware version of this radio on the app, its listed as version 1.910,

this is a much better sounding radio and the receptions on mw, fm, airband, uhf and vhf bands are quite good and decent, except weather bands which the country that i live does not support, and also i have not tried cb and shortwave, i only used the built in antenna so far and the tecsun pl 368 small t shape ferrite antenna

be careful when using the radio strap, better used a velcro strap with it to simply secure the radio when you use the strap due to the radio's weight

USB-C port failed in less than a week!

Update:03/17/2026

Just when I thought that things couldn't possibly get any worse when I went to insert my 3.5mm plug the plug just fell inside of the radio. (See Photo) I had bought a really nice headset specifically for SW listening and this happened.

I do plan to try one more and if it has the same issues I will return it and just get something else I suppose. VERY disappointed with this radio. This was supposed to be my dream Short Wave radio but so far it's only been a nightmare!

I waited so long to get this radio and I was so excited once it finally arrived. I listened to many many radio station all over the world using my outdoor long wire antenna which is 50ft+ and goes up into the very top of a tree and comes down to a 9:1 balun I had bought and from there I have KMR240 low loss coax running to the inside of my house. From there I have a pl-259 to a 3.5mm plug which fits perfect into the back of the radio and this allows me to hear SO much more than you would using the included antennas.

Everything was working perfectly UNTIL the USB-C charging port became loose and now I can no longer charge the radio which makes it useless as of now. But everything else I fully appreciated and I wanted to give my honest review for this radio but it didn't even last a whole week. I plan to return it and order a new one and try all over again. But having a loose USB-C port ON the radio in less than a week does not scream "QUALITY" to me! It tells me that the company "Raddy" is cutting corners and not fully soldering their internal parts as well as they should be.

Once I get the new radio and it lasts past a week.. THEN we can discuss if this is a good radio or not. Based on what little I know for now there just is not way that I can fully recommend this radio at all because I cannot fully comment on quality until I can see it with my own eyes!

Interesting updates

I'll start by saying that Raddy's after-sales support is excellent, and for this reason alone, purchasing one of their products is extra valuable.

When you buy a product like this, consider why it is important.

My radio was replaced under warranty without any problems and in fact Raddy proved very responsive in solving the problems.

The new radio will be tested soon but I am very satisfied with the purchase, a real guarantee

I can also tell you that I have always been satisfied with the use of the RF919 which has often proven to be a more capable radio receiver than some SDRs.

Very interesting radio, I don't have to tell you anything different from what other people tell you in the many reviews of the product that you find on YouTube and online.

But I have a few things to point out to you, and I think they're interesting things for you to know.

First point the firmware version.

As you can see from the image, the firmware version is a more updated version than the one currently found on the official raddy website.

Second point, quality control.

The radio was in its cardboard box with accessories sealed by a transparent plastic bag with a quality seal.

This way it is easy to understand if the radio is new or used.

The instructions on colored cardboard, those with the wiring diagram (schematic), are missing but you can download them from the official raddy website.

I think it's a slightly updated hardware version, I haven't checked for the presence of two separate power batteries.

Problems with the 3.5mm jacks.

The external ferrite antenna is difficult to use because when inserted it remains crooked and turning it to find the maximum signal is problematic and risks damaging the small 3.5 connector , female connector.

The antenna connector behind the radio also has the same problem, they seem really low quality and don't give a great feeling of quality, they seem like they could break at any moment.

The jack connector of the wire antenna supplied with the radio as an accessory is difficult to insert and, above all, difficult to remove.

I think it's a problem with the radio connectors being too tight or incorrectly applied.

Further small observations.

The external ferrite antenna offers no gain in medium wave, impossible to tell you if LW works better than the original antenna

The receiver has great sensitivity in medium waves and also picks up nearby electrical noise.

It's not a defect but a feature of a radio that I assure you is cheap for what it offers (it's not regulated, it's true, but a real receiver costs figures with a few zeros more).

Currently under testing, if I notice any more things that might be of interest to you I will update the review.

P.S

I add, the radio has serious tuning problems in USB and LSB.

The signal attenuator command appears to be reversed, a firmware issue?

Awesome powerful Classic Army Green

Awesome radio had to send the first one back because the top antenna loop jack was defective second one seems ok so far jacks are important for uses being they are constantly be used I recommend the radio to anyone powerful in recovering and a lot of options to make listening a better experience

I like the radio it works very well cuz a lot of stations

This is a nice unit but it's not too user friendly you got to use your Noggin to be able to use it but you will get used to it very good radio I think

The radio is now useless

I plugged in the external antenna to the back for better reception. I followed the instructions to the T. When I was done using the radio, I powered it down and removed the 3.5mm antenna from the back and it broke. Because the 3.5mm male end was stuck inside the female end. It rendered the radio useless. Pretty bad experience as I just got it and now I can't use it.

Excellent Radio

Great radio but had to send my first one back it died. I must have been having too much fun with it!!! Anyways I've been listening to shortwave radio since the 1970s...I have a bunch of old and newer shortwave radios....but this one is fun to mess around with...all the different antenna settings bandwidth settings and ways to adjust the sound make it a keeper!!!! Love the different antenna jacks also. Reception so far is excellent!!! My only complaint is the soft mute but not the bad. And the sound quality is awesome!!!!..............update!!! The Bluetooth works great also and installed the app and found out using the app the soft mute is hardly noticeable. No beeping noises or clicking noises while tuning with the app i have version 1.710

Good SSB reception but noisy

My main interest is SSB, and this radio delivers good reception. However, there is a loud fluttering noise when scrolling in ssb, in addition to the soft muting/agc noise many digital radios have.
