Compact and relatively quiet for its type, with a comfortable feel and good responsiveness for gaming. Unfortunately, the keyboard is extremely disappointing in terms of durability and resistance to wear. It simply isn’t built for intensive use: the lettering on some keys started wearing off after just three months, and the “D” key actually broke after barely two years of use.
In my experience, Razer gaming mice are excellent, but their keyboards leave a lot to be desired.

Keycaps Will Break After A Short Time
Avoid this keyboard. Pay close attention to the reviews with one star. They all say the same thing even though they are far surpassed by all the glowy reviews that are written either by bots or simply upon receipt. This board looks great, feels great. For a little bit. Weeks..a few months. And keys start to break off. NO ability to replace them, nor offer any purchasable option to do so. (2 flimsy tabs underneath crack and snap easy) Mine had one snap off just shy of 6 months after purchase.

Hateful lighting effects are hard to turn off
I needed a basic keyboard in a hurry and this was the only one available in my local store. The distracting backlighting actually makes it harder to see the keys than an unlighted keyboard would be. The only way to apparently turn off the disco effect is to download their software (I’m now a half hour into that process). Good grief who thought anyone wanted all this? Honestly I hate this keyboard with irrational passion.
Also, as an older person with not-great near vision, why are the punctuation marks on the keys sooooo tiny?

Good Features, But Too Loud
I’ve been searching for the right keyboard, and this one still wasn’t the fit for me. It has a lot of features I was looking for - low profile keys, wired connection, RGB lighting, and it even comes with Razer stickers and a nice magnetic wrist rest. The build feels durable, but I couldn’t adjust the brightness without downloading the software, and I had issues getting the software to work. I also expected it to be quiet based on the description, but it was louder than I wanted. Overall, it has good features, but it didn’t meet my needs, so I’ll be returning it and continuing my hunt.

Backlighting Not Balanced
It's hard to tell from pictures, but in-person the backlight between and beneath the keys overpowers the text lighting, which I don't really like the look of. The clicky, yet soft feel of the keys is great though.

Great keyboard but poorly backlit and some letters wear off
In terms of feel and function, this is the best keyboard I've owned in the past 20 years. I love the precise, satisfying click of the keys, and the scalloped key tops and deep gaps between the keys mean you can even "feel" where the keys are with your eyes closed (I hate MacBook-like flat keys on cheap keyboards, which only people under 30 seem to be able to type on). I'd say it's a tiny bit on the loud side, but not offensively loud. But two problems mean this only gets four stars: 1) Keys I commonly use or rest my fingers on, like SHIFT or CTRL or "S", are completely unreadable due to the black paint wearing off. See my photo. 2) The letters are hard to see in the dark. Lighting comes up from the panel under the keys and each key is silhouetted against this bright light. Yet the light barely shines through the actual letters due to the design somehow. The bright glare between the keys makes it even harder to see the dimly lit letters. The lighting effect is beautiful yet not functional.

My husband is a radiologist who works from home. These keyboards are perfect for his home office. This is his second purchase because he has two stations in his office. The first keyboard is still working well after 7 yrs.

The original ortana chroma was better than this. Each key was customizable instead of this it’s only in sections. The wrist rest is also much lower quality and is not comfortable. I wish the ortana wasn’t discontinued, it was the same price. UPDATE. it broke within a week and the replacement is also broken. These metal clips are falling out everywhere

Great for work and gaming.
I've been using this for nearly a month as a daily driver at work. The keys feel great for typing because of the low profile and the click noise is satisfying. The keyboard looks great aesthetically; the lighting draws positive attention and is easily customizable with the software. The weight feels just right as well as the build quality. It definitely does not feel cheap. The volume keys are nice to have. Gaming on it also feels great. I played a few rounds of COD and had no issues with it. I paired it with the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro mouse, and they are the perfect match.

1/10 DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
Ordered this keyboard at the end of December 2024, thought it would be ideal for better durability and easier to type. Moved in January and just now (within the last week) gotten it out of the package and hooked it up. The keys are already falling out! The space-bar, tab key, caps lock, and various letter keys are out of the proper placement and wont go back in! Since the keyboard is specialty, I cannot but replacement keys. Unbelievable. Even typing this I had to dig out the keyboard it replaced, which doesnt work properly.
1/10 do not recommend! I have a razor mouse, pad, and other products. Can't believe this fell apart within a few days of use.

Questionable Quality - Keys...
The lights are amazing, the build quality is decent, the keys feel smooth and are clicky in the best of ways.
Not sure why or when, but randomly my "Z" and "B" Keys have broken off. I barely even use "Z" for anything.
I've not even owned the Keyboard for long...

Two year review
So after two years I figured I'd do a basic review on this. All keys have held up great, there is some wear on my most used keys (WADS, shift, C, etc). However with about 3 thousand hours of gaming on this particular keyboard (yes, T H R E E thousand), I'm surprised that I can even read those keys. The lighting works well still. Cleaning it is an absolute pain but that's on me for eating crumbly things at my desk.
The reason for 4 stars is that I've started to have a issue with the keyboard just being dead randomly. Unplugging it and replugging it in fixes it, but it's starting to get a bit annoying.

I am very disappointed with Razors build quality on this keyboard
So I knew when I purchased this that I was buying a cheap razor keyboard. That being said, I have owned razor products for many years now and I’ve always been satisfied with their quality which is why I keep returning to them. However, this keyboard is very annoying. First off, the wrist rest does not stay attached to the rest of the keyboard at all. It has a magnet but it barely sticks at all. Secondly, the keys have little metal things (pictured) that my research says are “clickers”. Apparently for making the keys, make a click sound. They pop out, quite a lot and then get stuck under the key making it unresponsive or jamming it or making it sticky. And it is happening a lot. During normal use. You can remove them and the keys still function just fine (and to be honest, I cannot hear the difference) but I really don’t want to remove all they keys to take out the bits, and putting them back in is a huge pain as well.
I’m fine with a cheap keyboard with synapse and rgb color mixing, but these stupid little metal bits are awful and I am very disappointed with Razor’s engineering on this one.

Great Keyboard
I’m not a big fan of big clunky mechanical keyboards. This is not that. Seems like good quality, especially for the price. It’s very responsive, very satisfying to use, and has a nice clean and simple look. RBG lights are easy to customize. I’ve only had for a few days and used it a few times so I can’t speak to longevity but so far I love it.

Buen Teclado! Aunque el Ornata V2 tenía elementos que no tiene éste Ornata V3
La sensación del teclado es buena, mezcla de mecanico con membrana. A mi me gusta sobre todo por la suavidad. No soy gamer constante, sólo ocasional.

coating wears off fast
i have had this keyboard for just over a year. it isn't used very much. i use my laptop much more. however, in less than a year the coating of the keys is already wearing off, which is disappointing. in the attached picture the "A" and "S" are particularly bad, and the side of keys "E" "D" and "C" are also worn off.
again, i only use this keyboard about an hour or two a day, 4-5 days a week, and often not even that much.
every other aspect of the keyboard has been great, which is why i still list it at a 3 stars.

Letters rub off, become lit up blobs
After just a few months of regular use, the black is rubbing off so that I can't see what the letters are. I don't use this keyboard for work. I don't do a lot of typing. Not enough to be considered heavy use. I started using this in February of this year. The black started rubbing off after about 6-8 months-ish. It's been 10 months & now look at it. I'm trying to find stickers for the keys, but many don't look like they'll work well to show the backlight. I use this a lot in a dark environment at night. Razer doesn't sell such things & their customer service isn't going to care.
Otherwise, the keyboard works great as a typical keyboard should, except the program for choosing the lighting scheme is rather finicky.
My last Razer backlit keyboard never had this issue. I'm also having problems with the mouse I got at the same time as this keyboard. Seems like their quality is going down.

A Nice Keyboard For The Price
I was decided between this or the Cynosa V2 after the Cynosa Chroma I've been using for 4 years just died and decided on this. It works perfectly and I personally like how clicky it is despite being louder. The included wrist rest is nice and I find it easier to type on with the slimmer keys. Upgrading the firmware was nice and easy. A little disappointed that the colors of the keys cannot be changed individually as in the past, but Synapse works like a charm with this. I have heard about the non-included roll over and I noticed this with typing here and there. If you're like me and don't need to game with lots of keys pressed quickly, it should suit you fine.

Great keyboard! Upgrade from my Razer Blackwidow
I really like this keyboard! I used to have a full mechanical keyboard from razer that I used for years. It was great for gaming but the high keys made it difficult for me to type fast. This keyboard is a perfect in-between being mechanical but sorter keys and shorter key presses. You still get the mechanical click but it's quieter. The colors and effects are great. I've have no issues with it at all and would totally recommend this keyboard.

Ornata V3 X:
I didn't realize I ordered this keyboard used. It was less than 10% off. It appeared "Like New" for a few weeks until paint started chipping off the WASD keys. I would have spent the $5 for brand new.
Love the keyboard though. I much prefer it to the original V3 because it's quiet.

Satisfyingly clicky! Using it for home office iMac, feels great to type on.
I’ve wanted a more mechanical-feeling keyboard for my home office work for awhile. I’m not too worried about gaming performance, speed of click registration, or multi-key presses simultaneously registering.
What I was concerned about was a snappy and satisfying haptic, tactile, and audible “click” and this keyboard absolutely accomplishes those requirements!
I hooked this up to an iMac and everything worked just fine. The windows key becomes the mac command key, and some of the keys like scroll lock and pause work for Mac OS features like brightness. Honestly I didn’t check to see if there is any software that lets me adjust the key bindings or RGB lights. By default it just cycles through several colors.
I like the magnetically attached wrist rest. It is soft to the touch but has no actual cushion. I have bad typing habits so I rest my wrists down. Usually I prefer a gel padded rest. The included rest works, but I do wish it was cushioned.
I’m pretty happy with this keyboard in any case. Simple, nice to have the backlit keys at night, and very satisfying to type on!

Razer Ornata V3 Low-Profile Gaming Keyboard
I was using this keyboard to write this review as you read this. I was previously using the Razer Huntsman Mini - Clicky Optical Switch (Mercury) previously (pictured above). I liked having the extra desk space with the 60% form, however I desperately needed a num-pad. My first Razer keyboard was the Razer Ornata V2. It was a great keyboard. The V3 has improved upon the V2, with brighter RGB, and low-profile keys. It comes with a magnetic wrist rest. The V2 came with a leatherette one. This one feels soft to the touch, like their plastic wrist rest with a silk top layer. It doesn't have a scroll media wheel as you can see in the picture, instead opting for normal media keys as seen in their other lines of keyboards. I must admit, the scroll wheel gave it a unique look and feel. I purchased my first Razer products on August 31, 2021 in the All-Star Bundle, and I haven't looked back since. They are the top in their game, where even the middle-tier of what they have to offer is top notch. For the price, you will not be disappointed! This is not for the Ornata V3 X which seems to be the entry level keyboard with silent switches. This keyboard has mecha-membrane keys which are to be a hybrid of their clicky and membrane keys. It is still very much clicky, however is not hot-swappable. I learned this the hard way with the V2, and ended up buying the BlackWidow V3. I had to put away my Sneki Snek keycap because it will not fit on this keyboard. When laid flat, the keyboard is 27.05mm thick, and the keys themselves only 4.40mm. This has quickly become my favorite keyboard since getting it, and the main one I use for work. I don't dive deep in to the world of PC gaming, so I can't recommend it for that, but I will however recommend it for your daily, multi-purpose keyboard.
Side note: You do not need to use Razer Synapse to customize the RGB. It works well without it. If you do, however have multiple Razer products and would like them to sync, then of course you'll need it. I am on my work computer, so I cannot install it. In fact, it has been black listed by my company. When I did have Synapse installed, it did make my computer run sluggish and misbehave.

I am not using this keyboard for gaming, but I wanted a mechanical type keyboard with RGB lights for home office use and this keyboard is perfect. The lights are bright and easy to program. They keys have a nice feel to them and the wrist guard, while not soft, is comfortable. I would definitely recommend this keyboard for home office use.

Coming from an Ornata v2 which I’ve really liked, the v3 is…ok
Been using an Ornata v2 for the past ~1.5 years, so will be comparing this to that. In short, the v3 doesn’t feel like an upgrade, but a slight downgrade (or maybe a lateral change, with some pluses and minuses). Along with some things I point out below, MSRP of $70 for the v3 compared to $100 for the v2 suggests it’s a downgrade. FYI - I’m a long time PC gamer, but not a huge keyboard enthusiast, so I may be getting some of the terminology slightly wrong.
Improvements I like:
- Space bar doesn’t feel as wobbly/rattle-y as the v2.
- Slimmer base/frame.
- Visually, there’s a larger gap between the keycaps and the base plate/frame compared to the v2. This gives a look similar to a lot of enthusiast keyboards and lets more of that sweet RGB light through (which you can of course turn down).
- Discreet branding on top of the frame (below the right alt and fn keys). The v2’s branding is on the front side, which is covered when using the wrist rest. If you’re forking out for Razer, odds are you want to at least subtly show it off.
Things that are… different:
- Overall, the v3 isn’t as clicky. On one hand, it’s a bit quieter (not that the v2 is loud), which is nice for calls/etc, but on the other hand aren’t the clicks a large part of what you’re paying for? Like the v2, it depends a bit on where exactly you press on the key, with the bottom being clickier than the top.
- I was skeptical of the shorter switches claim as they initially felt similar in height/travel, but after using it for a while, key presses on the v3 do feel a bit shorter.
- Popping off the same key on both keyboards, the stem/lower part of the key actually seems a smidge taller on the v3 (pic).
- The keycap tops have a flatter curve than the v2, being a bit more square vs. trapezoidal (pic).
- The keycaps have a slightly less matte finish. It’s too early to tell of course on the v3, but the finish on a few of my v2 keys has worn down to become glossy.
Changes I dislike:
- The keys/switches have more of a “thunk” at the end, the action not feeling as crisp and sharp as the v2. This may be in part to personal typing style, as typing lighter may get around it.
- The v3’s media buttons seem out of place, especially since they don’t match the rest of the keys, having a super short travel of maybe 1-2mm. The v2’s media keys matched the rest of its keys, plus I rather liked the v2’s scroll wheel (defaulted to volume control, and un/mute when pressed).
- The raised bumps on the F, J. and 5 keys are quite tall and a little sharp in that your finger can kinda catch on them. You get used to it though.
- Wrist wrest surface seems to be a thin firm silicone. The v2 had a cushy pleather that felt nicer, and is still in good shape after 1.5 years.
- 10 zone RGB is ok, but the v2 had individually backlit keys so you could get REALLY fancy like having WASD a different color and/or have much more complex lighting effects.
- The v2 tech specs on Razer’s site states “N-key roll over” as a feature. I didn’t see that mentioned anywhere for the v3, so I suspect it’s been removed..
Things that are the same:
- No USB passthrough
- If you don’t have the Razer software suite running (whether it’s a locked down work machine or by personal choice), the keyboard defaults to constantly cycling through the rainbow. There’s also no onboard memory, so you can’t just config it once, then uninstall. If you just want a simple solid color, it can be a bit of a resource hog at ~220 MB of memory. If you do install the suite, it’s fairly easy to use and allows you to get fancy with your RGB, especially if you have other Razer devices.
- While I’m not familiar with the enthusiast keyboard market, I’m assuming being Razer, there’s a decent premium in cost over similar options from lesser known brands.
To summarize, the v3 is a step up from a basic OEM membrane keyboard and on its own is a decent upgrade, but the v2 is a bigger step up in most ways both objectively and subjectively.
