Dirty keys bro

Good keyboard but I’m very upset that they don’t clean the keys before selling them. Look at all of this gunky residue on my keys… I’m not taking each one off to clean it. So now I’ll be using a gunky looking keyboard while silently being judged by my family and friends that I’m a dirty and grimy guy.

Absolutely Amazing

This Redragon Gemini Eclipse keyboard with red switches is chefs kiss with these epomaker silicone keycaps. It sounds and feels great. I absolutely love this combo.

Longevity. Trash

One year review..... My keyboard gave up. I wrote this on my phone because my keyboard can't type with most keys. Had a ton of use as a gamer...... Buy this if you want a keyboard that lasts 1 year, then dies while playing with friends.

Really nice keyboard, but one big caveat...

I'm an old-school guy, and I prefer typing on an old-school, mechanical keyboard rather than the flat, laptop-style keyboards so prevalent these days. I spend most of my workday typing, and the mechanical keyboard is much more comfortable for me.

This is a very nice keyboard at a very reasonable price. It feels good under the fingers, and for a mechanical keyboard, it's actually not very loud at all. I'm not a gamer, nor do I care about extra media buttons, but I think this keyboard would fit most peoples' needs quite nicely.

Now for the caveat:

I got this keyboard specifically to use with my work laptop, which is a Dell with only one USB-A port (where the Bluetooth dongle for my mouse lives), but several USB-C ports. However, when it arrived, I discovered that the cable that came with the keyboard has USB-C on the end that plugs into the keyboard, but USB-A on the end that plugs into the computer.

This was not a major crisis for me; I simply ordered a very inexpensive patch cable with USB-A-female on one end, and USB-C on the other (see attached photo), and everything worked perfectly. Really, the only aggravation was having to wait an extra day for the adapter cable to arrive before I could start using the keyboard.

In my view, though, when one searches for a USB-C keyboard, it's not unreasonable to assume that the connectivity is USB-C on both ends, and I think it would be very helpful for the product description to make clear that this isn't the case. Then the purchaser would know that he or she might need some sort of adapter based on what kind of USB ports are available.

For all that, I do think it's a very good keyboard, and can absolutely recommend it.

Pro feel keyboard. Worth it!

Great sturdy material, very pro feel, connects instantly when pluged in, bunch of light settings to choose from, Im using it for work and the typing experience is awesome. When typing the sounds is awesome. Materials makes this a worth it product.

Not a quality keyboard

Brand new, space bar doesn’t work half the time, you’re better off going with a brand that actually makes keyboards that work

Amazing

I love this keyboard! I happen to see run across this when it was on sale and I’m so glad I got it. I love how it comes with another set of keys to replace whenever you want.

UPGRADE TO A NEW TYPE OF KEYBOARD

Keyboard is amazing. The keys are super soft meaning you don't have to press hard on it at all im literally taping the keys which i noticed help to increase my wpm average. I also loved the keyboard clicks, if you're looking for a silent keyboard this one is not for you. The colorful lights under the keys make it look even more amazing. I wasn't expecting the additional keys to allow you to change the colors which is a plus if you don't want to have just the white keys in addition to being super creative with the color scheme. I understand that some people are gamer's and order this keyboard just for that but im loving this just to help making typing easier and more fun.

Good luck finding a better entry point to customized mechanical keebs for $40!

I've had this keyboard for about 6 months now as a daily driver for work, which includes using it as a portable keyboard 3 days a week. As I recently spilled coffee on it and had to disassemble, and there's a billion reviews already for the keeb as it sits, I figured I'd leave a bit of feedback on this keyboard from the perspective of those who want to customize and/or mod a mechanical keyboard.

TL;DR - This is an excellent budget keeb and customization platform for someone wanting to play around with different switches and keycaps, but the config software sucks and its BYK916 MCU means you can forget about custom firmware unless you're a very legit hardware hacker. Also, there's no room for adding things like rotary encoders or screens.

Pros:

- Hot swap sockets can take 3- or 5-pin key switches.

- Sockets appear durable (I've done about 15 complete switch swaps with no issues).

- Nice bright RGB LEDs work great for shine-through switches and keycaps.

- Reasonably solid case for the most part - good quality injection-molded ABS.

- MCU data line pads are provided on the PCB.

- There is config/editing software for this keeb.

- USB-C socket makes for excellent portability.

- Seems to be holding up well after 7+ months of traveling with it shoved in my messenger bag 3 times a week.

Cons:

- Uses a SinoWealth SH68F90A MCU (labeled as a BYK916); this uses the ancient 8015-architecture and has almost no custom firmware support (so no QMK/VIA/VIAL), and what is out there is alpha at best. If you're wanting to flash custom firmware do NOT buy this keyboard unless you're wanting to get into down and dirty hardware hacking. If you feel uncomfortable dumping stock firmware via serial with no documentation, you need to forget even considering this.

- The config/editing software is pretty terrible, has basically no documentation or support, crashes frequently, and is blindingly difficult to understand. Even simple things like changing a key mapping is tough to figure out.

- The pin socket tolerances are pretty tight, so it's very easy to bend key switch pins if you're not careful when inserting.

- There's almost no room to add things like encoders or screens if that's your thing.

- The switch plate could use a bit more support. It's somewhat bendy and flexes when inserting or removing switches, though with normal typing this isn't very noticeable unless you have a heavy hand.

- The PCB is also bendy (and mine arrived with the ESC key LED data traces broken, though this is on the shipping company to be fair). It's also painted so circuit tracing is very difficult.

Conclusion:

If you want something you can mod to the ends of the Earth, look elsewhere. If you want a nice budget platform for playing around with switches and keycaps to create your perfect daily-driver typing keeb, you can't do better for the money. If this had almost any other MCU it'd be a 5/5, but the almost complete inability to easily flash custom firmware combined with the horrible factory config software knocks a star off.

LOVE IT

Absolutely love it, so easy to change out the keys. connected to the monitor, the lighting is really cool. I love the clicking sound; it's not annoying.

Lovely light effects, love this!

I love this keyboard. Truly, I like the sounds it makes, the lighting effects are SO pretty and it’s very comfortable. It’s not too heavy and I play video games, casual MMOs as well as PvP games and it does well with movement and I’ve had no sticky keys. The design is super clean and I love the different light effects you can have on this keyboard.

Nice backlight and quiet when typing

The keyboard backlight doesn’t strain my eyes, and the lighting is really beautiful!

I love that it’s quiet when typing — the keystrokes are soft and low-noise

Great keyboard for beginners

Easy to set up.

Easy to use.

Great mechanical keyboard for beginners.

I like the sounds it makes. Beautiful sounds.

Little bit of a lag but not noticable to anyone who isn't aware of that.

DONT HESITATE!!

If you are looking for an affordable mechanical keyboard… buy this one. I love the sound of the keyboard, it’s clicky/thocky sounds. The keyboard itself isn’t super heavy and it seems very durable, especially for a full size keyboard with a number pad. It connects via USB TO USBC. It comes with a whole extra set of keys, extra switches, and the tools to switch the keys. I’m a girl who loves a clicky keyboard and this fits my needs. No delay and it’s not overly sensitive. 10/10.

Best keyboard I own. And I own a $165 Logitech

I LOVE this gasket keyboard. This is the Gasket keyboard, not the ted switch one with the orange keys. The sound is soothing with the right thick Key cap on it. It’s super smooth with minimal effort for my 49 year old hands. And its smooth typing makes me super fast. I absolutely love it with these keycaps.

Avoid Red Dragon products at all costs. Keyboard isn't even worth 5$.

This keyboard is almost 40$, the price expected to receive an average keyboard, however you'd be better off smashing your window and plugging in the glass shards to your USB ports to type with than this piece of unbelievable junk.

Minor problems first, the keys feel terrible, it's like someone 3D printed them instead of ergonomically manufacturing the caps. Alongside with that, even if the keyboard was functional it is WAY too sensitive, a feather could press on the space bar. This is mainly a nitpick and a problem even with great keyboards, but good lord is it loud and obnoxious for how low functioning it is, and it has a USB-C port to connect with but it serves no purpose for how broken this product is, it should've been wired directly.

The major problem is the keys don't work, they're inconsistent. Frequently it will either repeat the same key I tapped, have an up to 3 second delay, not type at all, or be instant. No matter how intricately and slowly I could try to type it, even key by key with one finger, nothing could be salvaged or gained from using whatever this Dollar Tree electronic is.

Don't bother with this garbage, it's a straight up scam. You'd be better off actually buying a Dollar Tree keyboard or getting one handed down from the 90's. This would have a 0 star rating if that was allowed.

Good value for price, quiet, looks good, smaller than I expected.

I just got this keyboard delivered this morning.

Pros:

- Worked as soon as I plugged it in. No set up needed.

- Keys are super quiet which my coworkers are very happy about.

- Looks great.

- Smaller size than my other full sized keyboards.

- Preprogrammed hot keys work great

- Great value for price.

Cons:

- Keys are closer together than I am used to and my big hands are struggling to type as fast as usual.

- Feels less crisp than I prefer

- The grey replacement keys don’t have the secondary functions on them like the white keys do

- No information for the support software this keyboard advertised.

So far, 4/5 for this purchase.

DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!

This keyboard is great! I purchased the AULA99 first and I WFH fulltime. When I tried shortcut functions, they all didn’t work so I returned that.

I have been searching for a keyboard that’ll make working from home great, isn’t super expensive, but still good quality, and customizable. This keyboard is it! The price is hard to beat and the quality is good. It isn’t as heavy as some but that’s okay if you’re using it for more of an everyday use. I was able to change the switches and keycaps, no problem! The lights are awesome and it comes with secondary key caps in different colors.

Lights Stay On When The PC Is Off

I have another mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Brown switches, which is great. I got this one because the switches are replaceable, and I wanted to see what red switches felt like. For $40 I thought I'd give it a go.

I really like how it feels when typing. It's smoother than the brown switches, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing. I have the lights to set up to flash on each key as you type, and the side and front light is off. I don't go for annoying, flashing lights. Because it lights up, the keys aren't printed on. Rather, the markings are clear so the light can shine through. This means that the dark keys are hard to see what's on them. The white keys are fine, and I'll most likely make use of the spare set that's included to make everything white.

The biggest flaw, and I mean it's a MAJOR flaw with this keyboard is that, when I turn my PC off or put it to sleep, the side and front lights come on and are a very bright red. This is shockingly stupid, and whoever thought that was a good idea should be fired. It's a good thing it has a detachable cable that i can unplug whenever I'm not using my computer. I'll keep it as a backup, but it's going in the closet.

Just Buy It

My old wireless keyboard died so I figured it was time to get a new one and I decided to go with a wired one this time. The reviews seemed good on this keyboard and the price wasn't outlandish so I figured I'd give it a shot.

The first thing that sticks out is the weight. It's sturdy and feels very well built, not like a cheap Chinese knock-off. The plastic all feels quality and the keys are smooth pressing motion. It's going to take me a bit of getting used to using a mechanical keyboard again after using a membrane keyboard for so many years, but I do like the clicking sound.

Next you will notice this company does not cheap out on customer satisfaction. I bought this keyboard expecting only a keyboard. Instead I found a complete second set of keys, extra pieces to replace the mechanical part underneath the key, and a key puller tool as well. Completely unexpected but something that will automatically endear this companies customers to them.

Lastly, the keyboard functionality itself. It is RGB and if you like having an RGB setup then you'll love the look of the white keyboard with the colors underneath. There is a button native on the keyboard itself that lets you change the RGB preset as well. I haven't fully counted but there seems to be around 10 presets with everything from colors slowly moving across the keyboard to zig-zagging back and forth, and if you don't like RGB there's an option to turn it off as well. The last nice bit is that in the very top right above the num-lock button row there are 4 additional keys: Mute on/off, a calculator button that pulls up your calculator app, a screenlock button that works the same was as pushing win+L, and a homescreen button that will minimize all of your windows and take you back to your desktop.

The keyboard is nice and spacious and feels great to use so far. Especially for the price, this is the keyboard to get imo.

Great, Loud Keyboard.

I literally just wanted a loud keyboard. I work from home two days a week and was tired of my regular, quiet Logitech keyboard. Although this keyboard is wired, it’s still really great. Very clicky sounds and it has a good weight to it. The colors are pretty cool, although I didn’t buy it for that. Definitely recommend it if you are looking for a low cost, loud keyboard. Oh, and it’s full-size so the zero on the number pad is big, unlike some of the smaller zeros I’ve seen on other keyboards

Nice board

This is a nice upgrade to my office space at work. My coworker says she’s never heard this “type of typing sound” - I find it pleasing. The build quality is solid, overall feel is nice once the feet are adjusted to your liking, very sensitive but easy to use, wish buttons were a bit less rounded, overall functionality is phenomenal for the price. (I use it for work but can tell it’s quick and solid enough for gaming)

Timid office typing no more!

Took advantage of the Oct sales and copped myself this keyboard for work. Definitely will plan to swap the key caps in the future. Timid typing no more! 😂

Love that it comes with another key cap full set in the box including some accessories and replacement switches. Loving the RGB displays and functions!

Excellent keyboard but not much information on how to program it.

This is an excellent keyboard. The red switches behind keys requires little force to press. I basically purchased the keyboard to program its keys. I spend probably 3 hours browsing and watching videos and no one had what I needed: program multiple keystrokes at the same time. Finally I figure it out (in the hard way) using the software provided inserting events to macro editor using "specified cycle times" as 1. For instance to simulate Win+X key combination you need to insert events L_Win down, X down, L_Win up, X up. Then to assign the macro to a key the "light" check box should be unchecked. See picture uploaded showing how to put to sleep the PC using the keystroke combination Win+X U S

Nicolas

Meets all my requirements

Overall, I'd recommend this to friends and family. I had a TKL mech before this - which required software to control the backlighting. That software offered more control of individual keys but I never used that and I like the advantage of not having to install a software to control the color modes! This is a big advantage for the K668, as I use it with a company pc where software installs are usually access controlled. The usability is great for me, as a software dev using it all day - I love the sound and feel of it (even though I historically favored quieter keyboards). I did buy a wrist guard as well and that has improved my experience

D

Dominick

Awesome product for the price!

This was an awesome purchase! It comes with a wide array of color modes and even includes extra buttons for customizing the colors further. The buttons have a slight concave shape, which feels comfortable to use. Additionally, the key sounds are okay. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a nice keyboard that won’t hurt the bank.

Hannah Brown

Awesome keyboard for great price!

Love this keyboard and the price is amazing. Has a great sound and is sturdy but not too heavy. Comes with a whole additional set of key caps and is compatible with 3 and 5 switches. The red switches that are on it already sound great. I changed a few out to my gateron milky yellow and they sound almost identical, so I didn’t bother switching them.

Koda

Great upgrade

Bought this to upgrade from my Redragon 552 because I needed the number pad. It’s hard to find white keyboards with red switches at a budget price but this fits that description very well. Sounds amazing and even better than the k552 because of the sound absorbing foam. Only downside is that while it does include a whole other set of keycaps, 6 of them aren’t included so you can’t achieve a fully white keyboard

Vincent Darius

Excellent for the price

I picked this up for fifty dollars, and at that price it's a fantastic value. If you're looking for a backup board or just a board to build and tinker with, this is a great option. And the spare set of keycaps is a good bonus--no idea why the product page didn't even mention them, since it's actually a pretty big deal. If you're looking for an entry board to get into moddable mechanical keyboards, though, you'll want to be aware of the issues with this particular board before picking it up.

The switches I used:

Main - Chosfox Arctic Fox (light blue base, white stem).

Space/Enter - Kailh Box Crystal Pink

Misc - Kailh Box Crystal Jade

Keys I really don't want to press accidentally - Kailh Box Crystal Navy

I also swapped the keycaps to some dye-sublimated PBT caps I bought elsewhere. Just to be clear, the pictures of the assembled board are NOT showing the spare keycaps. The spares were blue and white, and I took a separate picture of those.

Things I like:

- Price, obviously.

- Hot swappable and has 5-pin sockets.

- 108 key

- Came with a whole extra set of keycaps. At this price, and especially for a 108 board, that's basically unheard of.

Things I don't like:

- Stock switches break easily (see Other Thoughts below for detail)

- No software for Linux and no VIA/QMK support as far as I could find.

- The cable that comes with it has a very large USB A connector, which looks bad and takes up a lot of space. I just used a better A-to-C cable that came with another Redragon keyboard.

- The manual is minimalist (whatever, cheap board), but it has a placeholder Prop65 warning, which is, uh... not great. See picture. Not sure if this is just part of a document template that should have been removed because there are no applicable substances, or if there ARE applicable substances and they just didn't report them properly.

Other thoughts:

1. LEDs are north-facing. This works fine for double-shot keys with the legend on top, but if the legend is on the side facing you the light doesn't really come through. For boards with a bezel/recessed plate I prefer south-facing LEDs for this reason.

2. There is no foam in the interior of the board. It's just a PCB in a plastic housing, with a thick foam overlay separating the PCB from the bezel/mounting plate. If you're looking for "thock" you'll definitely need to mod this. I'm a monstrous philistine who loves clicky switches, so this was actually better for me. I take the foam out of my keyboards if they have it.

3. Pulling the stock switches might break them. I had to really pull and wiggle, and it bent the top housing of the switches and broke the retention pins on the bottom housing. I swap switches all the time in my other boards and I've never had this kind of problem before. The new switches I put in have polycarbonate bases and I can pull them out just fine. The box included a lot of extra switches, so I'm guessing this is a known problem. If you're looking for your first customizable mechanical keyboard maybe spend a little more for something else. Or at least have replacement switches in-hand before you pull the stock ones.

4. The +4 keys in the top right are: Mute, Calculator, Lock, and Desktop. The first two are standard XF86 codes, but Lock sends left_meta+l and Desktop sends left_meta+d. I wanted these to be volume down/up, but as far as I'm aware there is no built-in way to modify what these keys send (there is software for Windows, but I don't use Windows). Luckily I didn't have any shortcuts that used d or l, so I was able to just add those as bindings in my Hyprland config and use them how I wanted to, but if you're not on Windows and already have left_meta+d or left_meta+l bound you may not be able to use those keys without plugging it into a Windows system or doing USB passthrough to a Windows VM to run the configuration tool.
