Renogy is the worst!! Beware two moot controllers went bad!!

By far my last piece from renogy ever. This was my second one that renogys system of locking cables in has broke. The design of the locking mechanism sucks. Last week I tried to put the positive battery cable and the part you tighten the wire down with was stripped and wouldn’t tighten creating a fire risk and melted the plastic case. Thank god I smelt it. Then I ordered a new one to replace it and this time the solar negative cable was stripped out and wouldn’t tighten. So I go to check on it two days after installing and melted the plastic case. Renogy figure it out!! Good bye Renogy. The first pics show the battery port and the last pic is the second issue with the second unit!!

Terrible experience, test yours ASAP

One of the terminals don’t hold at all it’s a waste of money, by the time I tested this, it was past the refund window. Crappy product terrible quality.

Great Solar Charge Controller

This Renogy 60A MPPT Solar Charge Controller is a great replacement for the unit from a different manufacturer that failed on me after only six months. It has been working perfectly since I installed it. I have great faith in Renogy products; my other Renogy 30A DC to DC charger with MPPT has been running non-stop in my camper van for over three years without any problems. I know this one will last much longer. I also ordered the BT-2 Bluetooth Modules for both this charger and my camper van's controller, and it's a fantastic feature. Now they both show up in the same app, displaying the total solar energy being generated. My only complaint is the size, it's much bigger than the other brand's and takes up a lot of extra space in my setup.

Just okay.

These charge controllers are fine. It feels solid and well made. The fanless cooling is nice. I wasn't happy with the data display. To really see what is going on with the unit one needs to buy the Bluetooth attachment and download an app. The app is buggy and never worked for me. I ended up returning the controller.

Amazingly robust charge controller

I got this charge controller for a large boat and boy did it not disappoint. The high humidity and high temperatures on a boat can really eat at your electronics so I needed something that can withstand this. Out of the box I was impressed with its construction: the device is very sturdy and robust. It's made out of metal, is somewhat heavy and feels commercial-grade heavy duty. I like the self-cooling feature which is a must in my high-heat environment.

Installation was easy, just plug and play: I connected it to the solar panel cables and the battery cables using only a screwdriver. I use it for a 12V setup and it did very well. 60A is a little more than I needed for now but it made the device future-proof for me in case I'll be adding more solar panels or higher-powered solar panels in the future. I also like that it comes with the battery temperature sensor which makes it possible to track the temperature on lithium batteries and prevent overheating. Those batteries are not cheap and marketed for 10+yrs so having this safety definitely helps expand their lifespan.

Potential con is that the charger is a little bit bigger and heavier than the lower-powered MPPT charge controllers (like the Rover), though not terribly so. I found it easy to install on a boat where space is tight. The charger is in fact built mostly for larger off-grid setups like RVs so the added size is expected. I can also see how this could easily supply an off-grid cabin, it's just that powerful.

The LCD screen controls on the device are very intuitive and self-explanatory, there's barely any learning curve. The screen is big and easily visible which is a big advantage for me since I like to monitor my devices remotely. Pro tip for viewing the status of the device from anywhere, you can install a simple residential-grade battery powered wifi/LTE camera facing the screen of this device so you can monitor the charging status from anywhere (that's what I did).

Overall, highly recommend this MPPT charge controller for any application where you need a lot of power and the conditions are harsh. With a 2 year warranty, you really can't go wrong. Hopefully I can get much more and many happy years out of it.

150v/60a MPPT controller

Instructions easy to follow, using with 900 w of solar, solid all metal construction, works way better than their 40a rover
