Do not buy this product

The SD card holder is housed within the part of the camera that rotates and on the first day of use, the SD card came lose and broke in half. I can't imagine what engineer worth their weight in salt would put the SD card port in such a place but they should be fired.

Great camera easy placement

Great camera easy to set up large visual area easily rotated. Great buy.!!

Can't add to cloud recording.

Any of the Reolink cameras that are not LTE cannot be added to the cloud unless you have an existing plan. That makes non LTE cameras basically worthless. I know they have a cloud for these cameras cause I have a separate account with them and are using the same cameras.

never returns to its guard point

When the E1 Zoom loses power, it never returns to its guard point; it does not adjust its focus, and the vertical motor does not function. The Reolink Elite WiFi camera exhibits significant connectivity issues and poor recording quality. The sensor on the Argus MagiCam does not operate effectively beyond a distance of 12 feet. Therefore, investing in these products is not recommended.

False Triggers Everyday

Many false triggers. Twice daily when the camera lens changes from daytime to night time viewing and (visa versa) the click of the lens change and video change creates a false trigger every day, in the morning and evening. I've tried adjusting sensitivity as per Reolink Customer Service and even exchangee the camera but the design is flawed. If I cannot rely on a trigger to indicate it real security issue I cannot rely on the camera at all. The design would have to change to prevent the false triggers.

Much better camera

I’m happy to say this to thank Reolink camera worked fine. After the first 2 cameras gave me trouble. I had to send them back. Customer service was more than helpful. This new camera is a better model, a little more expensive but its setup was as easy as the older cameras which I had for a couple of years now. The image on this camera is excellent. It is well worth the extra cost. I want to thank Reolink for helping me.

Very nice product , I really enjoy-it

No one

Bigger then the last one.

Junk just like the last one, thought this one would be better no. Audio was still chopped up and horrible very slow to do anything everything is super delayed. You change your Wi-Fi password good luck getting this thing to reconnect and reboot.

Easy and Fast

The installation, the screws and supports that it comes with and the configuration, was easy and fast, Excellent quality and detail, the best thing is being able to use the space depending on the micro SD You use it, you don't need to pay for any extra services.

Reolink E1 Zoom

Reolink always provide for good products at affordable price. This is my 3rd camera from Reolink. I encourage customers to check out such products: Reolink E1 Pro and Reolink E1 Zoom. Features are awesome including the focusing and zooming. My only problem is the new camera inability to replay and I find out the device has issue with the SD slut because it always shows no SD inserted in. I change different SD card after rebooting and nothing works.

Reolink cameras

I have bought a few of theses cameras and always have problems trying to get these reconnected when there is a power outage or update. I suggest with these type of problems you would be better of buying a cheaper camera, at least that way you are not out of a bunch of money. I have 30 dollar cameras that work better than my reolink cameras. I don't intend on buying anymore cameras from reolink.

Excellent Camera

Installed outside under gutters. As long as it stays dry, it works great. The video quality, auto tracking and night time person ID is as good as some of my more expensive cameras. Initial set using the phone app, them added to my Blue Iris, which Detection and recording of motion alerts.

Great upgrade from 720P system

System was easily installed in less than 15 minutes. The memory card was back ordered and has not arrived so i can't check the quality of any recordings just yet, but I am very please with zoom and capabilities and the quality of video and audio. It has a wide view with a little fish-eye lens perspective but I've not fiddled with all the settings just yet. Wanted to get it out of the box and up watching my market. Works great on 2.4 and 5 GHz network, coming in much faster and more clear on the 5 GHz network. Video active system works but I don't have it on as headlights from cars in the parking lot set it off as I've not adjusted the sensitivity just yet. Very nice system, and easy on the wallet

A great investment for those who love our furry children

In terms of home security, the REOLINK Indoor Security Camera, E1 Zoom, is very convenient. With its 5MP Super HD resolution, it records footage that is clean and sharp. Anyone wishing to improve their home security should choose this option because of its plug-in Wi-Fi capability, which guarantees a simple setup process.

With PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) and auto-tracking features, this camera raises the bar for surveillance. An additional layer of intelligence is added by the human/pet AI feature, enabling effective surveillance. The E1 Zoom has flexible functionality that may be utilized as a pet camera, baby monitor, or general home security system.

The option for local storage adds peace of mind, while dual-band Wi-Fi guarantees a steady connection. The REOLINK Indoor Security Camera is a dependable option for people who value comfort and safety in their homes because of its sophisticated features and svelte style. For thorough and easy-to-use monitoring, upgrade your security setup with the E1 Zoom.

I got this because our home fire alarm went off with no reason, and we got worried this might happen when we were away. It is a great investment for those who love our furry children.

Box arrived torn and opened at bottom

Seems to be working fine. Did not come with operating instructions just setup and download info for the app. So still trying to learn how to do videos etc.

Awesome Person Detection AND Home Assistant Integration

I bought this camera because of it's Home Assistant HA integration... It exceeded my expectations and I started replacing the rest of my cameras. I was used to motion detection being triggered by wind and never bothered to look at activity. Having a person detection entity in homeassistant opens a whole new world! I have other Lorex & Amcrest cameras... which have good video quality... but they are isolated in their own ecosystems and can't benefit me further than their app allows. I can trigger lights in my house based on cam person detection entity sensor in HA. It's the new bar for me, no Home Assistant integration, go fly a kit.

Best WIFI IP Camera

I have tried several WIFI IP cameras with the use of Blue Iris and they usually don't work for one reason or another long-term. I previously had some Amcrest wifi cameras installed and they constantly lost connection to BI and the app was clunky. I've had this Reolink for about a week or so and it works EXACTLY as it should. The app has all the features i need, including the ability to reboot the camera, and it interfaces perfectly with Blue Iris. The fact it is dual band has taken away all my concerns over quality. The cam being on my 5g network makes all the difference in the world with lag and video quality. The only gripe I do have about this camera is the mounting function. It seems weird to me that the base does not have a standard 1/4-20 thread. Instead, it comes with this plates that twists onto the back of the camera so you have to get creative with mounting. It would've been much better if it came with an articulating arm with the built in thread. The fuctionality and quality make this a non-issue for me though. I just bought 5 more today as they were on sale for $64 - can't beat that. With the just the one so far, these are good cameras.

Inexpensive Reolink.

Unable to add this device to network. Incessant looping voice setup. No Reset Button. Device errored out when UID entered. Not such a good setup app.

Really Great Camera (with a couple minor complaints)

Ok! SO - This Reolink E1 Zoom is excellent! It is totally worth the few extra dollars over the Reolink E1 Pro. I purchased the "Pro" first because I felt that a digital zoom would be fine...it is not - the clarity is simply not there...for my needs, anyway. I breed/show Papillon dogs, and I keep a close eye on my girls when we are on puppy watch.

SO...my first cam was the Victure 1080P Pet Camera - which was fabulous & I loved nearly everything about it, but never could connect it wirelessly to our...wifi. I was annoyed having an ethernet cable that was draped all over the house...so...I was on the hunt for a camera that would easily connect to our wifi. The Reolink did not disappoint...once I found the E1 Zoom (the digital zoom on the Pro was just too crummy) all was great in my world!

Pros for the E1 Zoom:

- Set-up is a cinch

- The real zoom! The clarity & quality are awesome! If these features are important to you, do not even bother with the E1 Pro....it is not a "pro" - the name lulls you into thinking the camera quality is above their other options...this is wrong. Completely wrong.

- The ease of set-up on ALL Reolinks are hard to beat...SO easy using the QR code on the camera!

- Price - it's hard to beat for the quality you get (see my photos)

Cons for the E1 Zoom:

- I do not like that in order to adjust the any of the views of the camera, that you have to tap on the icon/feature to bring up the menu/bring up the icons to adjust the camera (ie to pan the camera left/right or up/down...and/or zoom in/out.

- I really miss the ability to pan 100* (like I could on my Victure) - the Reolink only has a 50* verticle (up/down) pan. This means that you can only look up and down just so far...this may not be important to some, but it is very important to me for what I use the camera for.

Overall, I am happy with this camera. Very happy....I just wish that the vertical pan and its app functions were better.

Quality

Clear video, was a little bit of a pain to set up. If u dont shut off the alerts, it will send alerts constantly with every movement. Also, works with Alexa.

Issues: focusing and SD card storage!

I bought over 10 units and 5 of them had focusing problems after a year or 2. one keeps messing up my SD card even when I put a new one in there, the SD doesn't anymore after formatted with the unit. this new version claims to be able to take up to 128GB but I have 3 of this new version and all of them only gave me 64GB even I have 128GB in there!

Great camera so far

I've been using E1 zoom for more than a year. About a month ago suddenly autofocus stopped working properly and image was blurry. Therefore, I disassembled the camera and fixed the issue. But I was shocked finding a 3mp camera inside as it is shown in attached photo while it is indicated as a 5mp camera in its documents. Overall, I am happy with this security camera, compared to the other cameras - Laview and Wyze which I own, it has the best picture.

Don't buy it

Extremely difficult to set up Email Notifications. Can't find the button anywhere so I can't Talk to any intruder through the Camera... Doesn't have an option to send Notifications to your phone. Sending the Camera Back. Thanks for the effort.

The security cam is effective

The camera has proven to be effective, very clear both in day light and night time. Its detective ability is smart, prompting the devices connected to it.

Great little camera

I really enjoy this wifi camera. Love that it takes dual bands. I also like the camera image and quality. The zoom is awesome as well. I have nothing to say but good things about this camera. I'm considering purchasing more of their cameras to install on different areas of the house. The night vision is superb. You can adjust the night vision that gives you i believe 3 options of light. I installed a 256gb SD card and it's great that ones it's full, older recordings will automatically delete to make room for new recordings. You can view the camera via your Android phone (as what i have) and through your PC (i have windows). If you have an SD card, you can play back what it sensed the night before or any date for that matter as long as it hasn't deleted.

I did have an issue not being able to view the play back recordings through my PC, but it was due to lack of understanding how to use the PC client version. I contacted support and they helped me right away and got it working! Big props to Hillary!

I definitely recommend this product to everyone.

Update 5 months later:

Every time i now go to turn the camera in any direction with the app, or even with the PC, my camera freezes. I recently upgraded the firmware thinking that would help, did not. I love the camera but it's so frustrating that it freezes every single time. The only way to get it active again is by unplugging it's power. Ugh very frustrating

Received previously returned item

I received a previously returned item that was obviously defective. The seal on the box was cut, the box was scratched and crumpled, and there were fingerprints all over it.

This time I received a new item in perfect condition. Setup was still difficult, mostly because the instructions in the app and manual incorrectly tell the user to wait to hear voice prompts before scanning the QR code for the wifi network. However, the camera doesn't provide a voice prompt at this point, but instead repeatedly "dings". The user needs to disregard the instructions in the app, and click the button to advance to the QR code generation/display. There may be a slight delay while the camera reads the QA code, but provided that the device is bright enough and the screen is held about 8-10 inches in front of the camera, the camera should move onto the step of setting up the wifi connection.

With the camera finally set up and integrated with my security software (Surveillance Station), I can report that the resolution is excellent, as is the field of view and PTZ control. I don't use the app or cloud service, so I can't comment on those, but the web interface/control panel is adequate. (Frankly, anyone who doesn't want to risk having their camera hacked should block internet access to the camera, and instead use security software on their LAN to record and stream videos to devices on the WAN. This setup is MUCH more secure, as security systems and NAS typically have better firewall and security software, as well as QA, than these cheap little cameras. At minimum you can be assured that the Chinese government has a mandated backdoor to all of these camera brands, many of which are essentially state-owned.)

Great picture coupled with mediocre firmware = low value IP camera

I decided to take a chance on Reolink despite mixed reviews across their product line. I upgraded from a Foscam FI8921W v2 camera; a mere 1.3 MP camera. The E1 Zoom is a huge step up in video quality. However, I found the setup, to put it kindly, awkward. Its fairly simple, but I didn't appreciate the loud distorted sqwaking voice that sounded like a broken NJ Transit speaker in the late evening. The provided documentation is rather sparse.

The Good:

The picture quality is very good as is the video. The audio leaves something to be desired but it is a feature I wouldn't really plan on using anyway. I used Reolink's tech support and they were very responsive and helpful, but didn't resolve my issue that is a deficiency in their firmware and I address that below. I found the camera to work well in the dark too.

The Bad:

I found a lot of aspects within the firmware to be entirely mediocre. Here is a list of firmware issues I have encountered::

1) I am surprised that the microSD card only purpose is to store vdeo when motion is detected. In every other brand of IP camera I have used, one can select the camera to take a picture and store it on the camera at regular intervals often between 5-65535 seconds. This is highly desirable because the camera is Wifi only. Its incredibly lazy of Reolink to do this since the base functionality is there in the firmware. You will either have to use FTP or 3rd party software; this reduces the value of the camera. A 5 min clip at full resolution of 2560 x 1920 at only 2fps the lowest you can go, it consumes about 155MB. The max capacity microSD you can use is 64GB. You'll run out of space really fast so why the heck not store photos at 5, 10, 30, 60 intervals. The jpeg photos of same resolution are under 500kB.

2) Reolink states the Wifi is stable. I adamantly disagree. My shed is approximately 200m away and it is connected via single mode fiber to between two Cisco 3560CX switches. I have a Cisco wireless environment: a WLC 5520 with older 2702i APs. I see the AP's algorithm is to choose 5Ghz. There is no option on the client to choose a band; that would have been nice. This is annoying. Take this into account in your environment. Most prosumer/consumer dual band APs do have seperate SSIDs for 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz. Since my shed is far away its not a big deal for me to have it on 5Ghz but I wouldn't want that running in your home environment. Why you ask? Because this is camera operates at 802.11n and it will slow down 802.11ac devices; not something desirable if you put in the expense of of having an AC router with AC clients. I typically reserve 2.4Ghz for low priority devices and that is what this device is to me. I would not entrust my security to this device for anything critical. I have experienced multiple wireless drops with a SNR of -51 dB which is excellent. I have included pictures where these drops occurred I lost connect to the camera on multiple occasions using the Reolink client and Blue Iris v5 demo.

On my WLC and Spectrum analyzer I have no wireless interference whatsoever my noise floor is around -97dbm - My shed is far away from any neighbor's home so there is no 5 Ghz interference. I noticed a significant amount of duplicate packets and data retries. This device purportedly has MIMO antennas which should cut down on multipath. It is the sole 5Ghz client on the AP therefore I conclude there is an issue with their wireless driver. I noticed several of my photos missing data. Again saving it directly to the microSD card would mitigate this issue altogether.

Here is my wireless environment:

Given these issues I would really be nervous about firmware upgrades and the system had better check the file integrity otherwise the chances of bricking the device are increased. Data retires happen but 7-15% is an unacceptable level.

3) No QoS/WMM - I would have expected the device to mark packets but it doesn't. Again not a difficult thing to do but the firmware. If you don't have carrier grade equipment like I do you're SOL prioritizing packets. Since this is wifi only camera

4) FTP: Only FTP is allowed and this is not a secure file transfer protocol. This is a security camera right? How about securing communications from the camera to the upstream sever. Lazy.

5) The CPU on this device barely up to the task. Consistently high CPU averaging ~77% never going below 56% and often spiking to >90%.

The Ugly:

Even if the firmware operated in the desired fashion I seek, the microSD card placement is absolutely bizarre and not at all user friendly. But why bother sacrificing one after what I explained the issues. Its apparent Reolink put this in just so they can say they have it too. It practically serves no purpose. Oh if you do manage to overcome the issues above, there appears to be no means with which to access the files on the microSD card so that will be really fun accessing it instead of having the card easily accessible in the base.

Based upon this experience I am totally reconsidering the Reolink brand. I purchased two; opening one to test. I am returning the unopened box and looking for a better value camera because this ain't it.
