Great quality security camera with crystal clear images and no subscription

While I am used to that system and their endless expense of annual subscriptions, their cameras are all single lens and have not really added any significant features in all the time I've used them. Very basic, very boring and expensive, so I thought I would try this Reolink OMVI 3i camera.

My first impression was -Wow! This is quite the piece of technology compared to the simple cameras I have been using. I wish the system I have been using had any meaningful camera updates, but they never do. This camera is about 50% more expensive than the best ones I have been using, but has much better image quality and a much better field of view with auto and manual tracking capability-I would say it's a better value due to the better features and quality.

This is AC powered, which due to my very old house is something I usually can't accommodate since I had no outside power outlets. I recently had a room updated and added an outdoor outlet so I plugged this in to test it out.

The setup was incredible simple, literally a few minutes at most, with voice prompts and quick connection to the Reolink app. I kept expecting a sales pitch for a subscription to do anything, but that is not how reeling works. YOU control things, via a micro SD card or using their hub with micro SD or hard drive options up to 2tb. You can also use a network recorder if you already have one.

The images this camera produces are stunning in their clarity-way better than my existing cameras. The rotating ball shaped camera (bottom half of the unit) turns to follow any motion. The app deserves special mention for how easy and intuitive it is. You can manually move it via the app, and you can set patrol zones and timing of its rotation patrolling. I love that feature-like having your own security guard on duty. Very clever and useful! There is built in AI item recognition-people, vehicle, etc. I found in my testing that it was nearly flawless-the only miss was during heavy rainfall when it said a person was detected. Sensitivity was very good-it properly identified a vehicle presence from over 45 feet away-about 50% farther than my existing cameras can do. The very wide field of view and tracking ability means this one camera easily replaces and covers the area you would need 2 or 3 other brand cameras to cover.

One big and surprising design flaw is the power block-it took up both of my outdoor outlets which is not acceptable. That would be a deal breaker for me-I need that other AC outlet available and do not want one device taking up both.

In summary: a great app, incredible camera image quality with built in AI detection and NO subscriptions. The only drawbacks are that it requires AC power (to be fair, most cameras with this much motion ability are plug in), and no optical zoom capability on this model.

If you are considering a security camera system and have AC power available, you should give Reolink serious consideration. One good thing about no subscription is that you hold and control all your data and recordings-you decide who to share them with, not a corporation. If my location had the available power needed I would seriously consider switching to Reolink as the cameras offered are far more advanced than the ones I am currently using-and renting by paying a subscription fee. Reolink allows you to keep your data private.

So far so good

Set up for this was fairly easy. You just drill it into a wall find a way up through a soffit and then thankfully for me at least the power cord was long enough that I could just plug it into my garage doors outlet by drilling through the ceiling. But definitely look into a longer power cord if needed because it isn’t super long. In terms of video footage and functionality itself. It is very clear and it is a wide angle. All the footage looks good and works well. Just be aware that if you’re trying to connect it to an old NVR you need to start by adding it to the app first to where you’ll have access to all three cameras, but an older NVR will only show the wide angle and will not show the bottom moveable cam which is annoying. As well make sure you do a firmware update immediately on the camera because I found that my PTZ stopped working shortly after I installed it until I updated the firmware and then it started working again. I will say that the tracking for the PTZ it is pretty slow and can be out paced by a brisk walk, depending on the distance to the camera. I am happy about the WiFi connection though otherwise this would require direct Ethernet which would suck. It works well with the app and storage is just a micro sd card but make sure to look up what is compatible with it. At least as of today I would recommend it.

Wish the lower camera had an optical zoom. However really was pleased with the quality. Unfortunately this specific camera did not work out for me due to the dual cameras at the top being set high on the camera and the soffit of the home.

Needs Updates, Protected Home

Easy setup, video quality at night could be better, struggling to get it to produce better quality. I think they could make improvements software wise. This is my 2nd Reolink- I have the floodlight one as well and love it.

That being said, shortly after I installed it the tracking picked up someone who was breaking into cars in the neighborhood, so it prevented the break in because I was aware and called 911 and alerted the police who were already in the area and used the alarm.

Insanely Versatile Indoor/Outdoor Camera With Incredible Coverage

This camera honestly exceeded my expectations. The image quality is incredibly sharp, and the combination of the 180° panoramic view with the pan-and-tilt camera gives you coverage that would normally require multiple cameras. I mounted mine high in the corner, and it covers a huge portion of my apartment while still being able to track movement.

Setup was quick through the Reolink app, and I had it connected to Wi-Fi in just a few minutes. The AI detection works well for distinguishing people, and the auto-tracking feature follows movement smoothly without constantly losing the subject.

One thing I really appreciate is that there are no monthly subscription fees if you use local storage. That’s becoming harder to find these days.

The camera itself also feels very well built. Even though it’s designed for outdoor use, it works great indoors if you want maximum coverage of a large room or open floor plan.

Pros:

* Crystal-clear 10MP panoramic image and sharp 4K PTZ camera

* Massive coverage from one camera

* Smooth pan, tilt, and auto-tracking

* Excellent AI person detection

* Easy setup in the Reolink app

* Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 connection

* Local storage with no required monthly subscription

* Solid build quality

Cons:

* Because of its size, it’s more noticeable than a standard indoor camera.

* You’ll want to spend a few extra minutes managing the power cable if mounting indoors for the cleanest look.

Overall, this is one of the most capable Wi-Fi security cameras I’ve used. If you want to monitor a large area without installing multiple cameras, this is an excellent choice. The video quality, smart features, and subscription-free local recording make it an easy 5-star recommendation.

Reolink OMVI 3i WIFI 4K,

I try couple differnt brands and so far Reolink cameras are the most stable wifi 4k connected devices, Great camera, good wifi connection, good picture quality easy to install, have a reolink track mix and track flex all working as expected, connected NVR 24/7 not missed any recording, fast live view connection.

When connected to NVR, only wide camera will record or show on TV, Hope Reolink will update to record and show PTZ camera also.

Great 3 in 1 camera

Writing

I replaced my backyard light with the REOLINK OMVI 3i WiFi, and it has been exactly what I was hoping for. The triple-lens design provides excellent coverage of the entire area, while the pan-and-tilt functionality helps keep track of activity without leaving blind spots. The image quality is impressive, delivering sharp and detailed footage both during the day and at night.

One feature I appreciate is the automatic tracking, which does a great job following movement around the yard. The smart AI detection has also been reliable, helping reduce unnecessary alerts while still notifying me of important activity. Setup was straightforward, and the dual-band WiFi 6 connection has been stable and responsive.

I currently have more than a dozen Reolink cameras around my property, and this camera continues the positive experience I've had with the brand. It performs consistently, offers useful features without requiring monthly fees, and gives me confidence that my backyard is well monitored. So far, it has been a perfect replacement for my old backyard light and another solid addition to my Reolink system.

A "Home Run" from Reolink!

I've been using Reolink PoE security camera systems for over 10 years, and I've recommended them to friends and neighbors. Always reliable, excellent video/audio quality, easy to use. However, I've reviewed several of their latest WiFi products and have been very disappointed with the poor performance. Given this background, I was expecting another disappointment with this brand new, PTZ camera. It's EXPENSIVE compared to single cameras. So - how does this one meausre up?

A HUGE SUCCESS!

It setup easily, the build quality is superb (including the METAL mounting bracket).

Most importantly for me - the Wifi performance is been 100% reliable from the first day of setup. Rock solid. It's as if it's a hard wired PoE device.

But how to justify the price?

Well, in my case, this camera alone will allow me to disconnect 3, possibly 4 existing cameras! If only they had had this product when I first got started!!

Seriously - it's a huge win for Reolink. You can use it in standalone mode and/or you can connect it to an existing Reolink Hub or NVR. The picture quality, day and night is SUPERB. The PTZ functions are solid and the wide COVERAGE of the camera is amazing.

The pictures I've attached show how much coverage. I have the camera mounted on my second floor deck and it covers the ENTIRE STREET. (I'll make a point of trimming the trees that are interfering with the picture!!!)

If you have existing Reolink devices or if this would be your first one - GET IT and see for yourself!
