I have bought one of these just to test it out, see how it works. This radio works way better than I had expected. The built quality is just toeing the line with Motorola, the radio has some good weight to it, and it has excellent range. The set up is amazing and easy, you don't need to use CHIRP to give your channels names, you can set channels with an easy "one key" frequency match. And the battery life is fantastic, i can fully charge over night and use it for at least three days straight before hitting 25%, or my "it needs to charge" range. This thing has survived getting dunked in water, being dropped and has very minimal damage after those drops on concrete. The screen is very clear and easy to read. And one of my biggest likes about this radio is it will connect to any HAM Radio after being unlocked and has also connected to other GMRS radios and even Family Service Radios. I had originally bought this to test out and see what would be a good replacement radio for my Boageng AR5RM, and this has exceeded my expectations, and I have just ordered another one to use in pair. This radio is a great buy, it is worth the money, and it is easy to use. Hand mic was bought separately.

The off-grid/no cell service GPS is seriously impressive
These walkie talkies have a really solid feel to them and come packaged very nicely. The set includes two radios, so you and another person can make a team and start using them together right away.
The app was easy to find and install. Its just called Retevis in the Google Play store. I also like that the permissions seem to work fine using the “only while using the app” option, which makes me feel a little better about security.
Adding another person to a team was not intuitive at all for me though, and the process still seems a little buggy. You need to go through all the Bluetooth settings on each phone described in the manual, then go to the map screen, click the little briefcase icon, and select “send location.” After sending locations back and forth, we were eventually able to add each other.
Even then, the other person only showed up as a “0” and didnt receive the custom name or profile information I entered for my wife and myself. Adding one person to a team on one phone also didnt seem to automatically join them from the other app. I may still be doing something wrong haha, but either way, the setup definitely isnt very intuitive.
I DID get it working though, and once I understood what it was actually doing, I was really impressed. You can see the GPS check-in points from the other radio right on the map. I put both phones into airplane mode and played around with it, and it definitely works without cell service.
At first I was wondering why the GPS feature was even useful if you still needed a phone. But the phone and app are really just providing a visual interface for the GPS inside the walkie talkie. The phone connects to the radio through Bluetooth, and the actual location sharing does not need cell service. Once I understood that, this became way cooler haha.
This is my first set of epic walkie talkies, so im definitely not a pro or anything.. but im kinda blown away that these provide an actual working GPS feature without a subscription for around $100 a pair.
All in all, the setup could definitely be easier and the app still feels a little buggy, but the radios themselves seem great, and the app values security allowing you to set it to 'only while using app', And its a working GPS radio set for 100$?? Even with the little bugs this set is def a 5 star to me. My wife and I will absolutely be taking these camping, and I also plan to bring them on my annual kayak camping trips. Really awesome set once you get everything connected. Ill be keeping an eye out for app updates :)

Long Range Walkie Talkie Radios
This is a great set of radios for a surprisingly affordable price. They are relatively compact, yet have high quality screens with excellent resolution. Each radio comes with its own charging dock, so you can charge both simultaneously. The radios came ready to use, and did not require any setup or programming. These are great for road trips, camping, hiking or communicating with friends/family in different parts of the house, etc.

Outstanding GMRS Radios – Feature-Packed, Reliable, and Perfect for Outdoor Adventures!
These radios have quickly become an essential part of my outdoor gear, whether I’m hiking, camping, or traveling off grid. The combination of long range communication, GPS/BDS support, and smart features makes them far more advanced than typical walkie talkies.
The first thing that stands out is the clarity and reliability of communication. The signal strength is excellent, maintaining a strong connection even over long distances in outdoor environments. Audio quality is crisp and clear, with minimal static, which is crucial when I'm in remote areas or dealing with noisy surroundings.
The built in GPS/BDS functionality is a major upgrade. It provides added situational awareness and makes it much easier to coordinate with others in my group. Combined with APP control, it brings a modern, connected feel to what is usually a very basic device category.
The NOAA weather alert feature is another standout. It gives real time weather updates and emergency alerts, which adds a valuable layer of safety when traveling, hiking, or camping in unpredictable conditions. This feature alone makes the radios worth having for serious outdoor use.
Durability is also excellent. The IP54 waterproof rating provides confidence that these radios can handle rain, splashes, dust, and rugged outdoor conditions. They feel solid in hand and are clearly built for real world use rather than just casual indoor communication.
Battery life is strong, easily lasting through full day outdoor trips without needing a recharge. The controls are intuitive and easy to learn, even for someone new to GMRS radios. The design is practical, with a comfortable grip and easy to access buttons.
I also appreciate how versatile these radios are. Whether used for hiking, off road driving, camping trips, or even job site communication, they perform consistently well. Having a reliable 2 pack setup ensures constant communication between group members.

Rugged & Durable Set
Well made GMRS radios. Beefy build, feels rugged and thick in your hands. They grip well. Audio from the speaker is very good. Bright display, even in sunlight. Programmable with PL codes and repeater capable. Includes weather radio bands and GPS feature to send your location to other devices. Units are rechargeable with included USB cable. Can be charged directly to the radio or when stored in the included base. Typical settings are easy to adjust in the menu system or can be programmed directly from the app loaded on your phone. This is a great set of radios for outdoorsy people, no worry about getting wet or easily being damaged.

Kids used it at the beach last Sun. They liked it altho Heavy & Bulky.
HA1G GMRS was ok. kiddies said it was Heavy & Bulky. But it's good waterproof radio.
They played with it in the water. Just a lil wipe down and it's still tx/rx ok today.
(Kids also used Radtel 493, MP 31, UV-9G .)

It's been a great radio!
This is an excellent radio. I really like most things about it.
It is a tough, durable, waterproof radio that recharges with USBC.
Probably the feature that I most appreciate about it is the signal meter. It uses a meter that goes from 0 to 100. When I am trying to hit a particular repeater that is far away, sometimes my radios signal won't get through. But I can often times move around 10 or 20 feet while listening to others talk, and find the place where the signal is strongest. If I can receive a signal that hits better than 40%, then I can hit the repeater without any scratchiness or static from that exact spot. This is something that I can't do with any of my other radios, because they don't have signal meters that are graduated as fine.
I feel like it's a little too easy to accidentally hit the push to talk button and key up.
I wasn't initially a fan of the color screen, but it can be adjusted so that it's bright enough to read in daylight. It's pretty good!
The battery lasts a pretty long time.

Very sturdy and easy to program! I have the Ham version and it’s basically the same. But with a few button pushes you can open it up to GMRS and MURS for about the same price!

Solid value - lacks in software compatibility tho
The HA1G is pretty well thought out and executed radio. I primarily use for GMRS monitoring / transmission. Audio is clear and crisp, although there’s a bit of tail squelch which can be annoying. I’ve yet to find a way to reduce it. Dating 4 starts because of this.
The handheld is easy to use, feels comfortable in the hand, and is clearly well built and durable.
I’ve tested out the water proofing by dropping it in a puddle (accidentally) and the radio was just fine.
The mic that comes with this package doesn’t feel as high quality, but the audio sounds alright and it works reliably (used it for 3 trips so far and it’s held up).
Overall, the HA1G is a great radio for those getting into GMRS handhelds. The price isn’t bad for the quality of the unit.
I wish they developed the tuning software to include Mac OS. As of now it only works on windows.

Pretty good radio.
Got the radio fast. Set up was easy enough and ready to go. Build quality is really good. My radio came with the programming cable even though I could find nowhere in the discription that say it's included. Great deal there. One problem I have and my return because of is the sticker with the product name was missing along with a back sticker looking like a bad application and also I haven't seen any videos I'm going to boxing yet but the screen didn't have a peel on it. I don't know if it was supposed to come on or not. The box was sealed and nothing other than the missing sticker really makes it look like it was used but I'm wondering if it's bad quality control or someone actually went through the effort of sealing it in plastic and returning it. I only concern with the missing sticker is it looks like it might have exposed the microphone which I mean it's not waterproof. So I think I'm going to contact seller and maybe get a replacement sticker or just return the radio or get a replacement radio. All the reviews I've read a very positive about the radio and aside from my little issues it's a great little radio it feels very rugged doesn't feel like a $40 radio it feels like a several hundred dollar radio. What it's worth I would recommend it.
Update : I was contacted by the seller and they expressed concern and wanted to make it right. Shipped me out a new one and send the old one back. Thank you.

The squelch tail is so bad on this radio I can't use it
Seems like a nice radio but the squelch tail is annoying so I'm planning to send it back. I only have one of these so I don't know if there is a squelch tail when used with another HA1G. But, when used with other GMRS radios there is a loud static after every received message.

Beefy, color screen, waterproof.....
This HA1G is one awesome radio!! The color screen is easy to read and programming right from the handset is easier than most other radios! If you prefer to use the computer for programming, There is a software for that! I found this radio to be easily setup and quick to put into action. The build quality of this radio is wonderful. It feels very robust in your hands. Feels like a much more pricey radio as those in the top tier. The green PTT button is a nice touch and adds to the radios character. I highly recommend this radio. It is waterproof being ready for all the outdoor elements you might run into. Battery life is also very good even when keeping the backscreen lit up at all times this radio just stays powered on! I've added this radio to the top of my list carrying it every day and its been doing great!!

It’s now my EDC
This is my new every day carry radio. At first I was going to swap out the antenna. Then I heard repeaters further away from me, so I’m keeping the stock antenna on. The main reason I love this radio is how easy it is to program (I posted a video). This radio is extremely well built. The one con is the retevis software, you can’t name repeaters with it. As of now, Chirp doesn’t support this radio. I’m sure they will in the future. Battery life has been really good so far. Audio is outstanding! I do wish you can change the theme on it. The blue with black font isn’t easy on my old eyes. It I’m still very happy with it.

One of the best GMRS HT radios - Retevis Ailunce HA1G GMRS Radio
After owning several HT radios from brand like Motorola, Yaesu, Baofeng, and various other make and models. I wanted a dedicated GMRS only radio and Revetis knocked this one out of the ball park. I also own several other Revetis HT radios like the RA89 and R3TS (digital/DMR).
The radio feels solid and well made. It also has a nice heft and weight to it as you can feel the radio fits nicely my hands. First off let me tell you that if you are looking for a GMRS only HT, this is the one to get. The channel on top is a deal breaker. I'm not sure why other manufacture make this features into the hand held radios. Trying to switch channels via the up/down keys gets old and cumbersome, especially if you have big hands like I do. I tested this radio on a Surecom SWR meter with the stock rubber ducky antenna and the SWR is dead on perfect. I'm about to TX/RX all of my local repeaters with no issues. There is a local repeater that is about 40 miles from home and I can hit it just fine with decent sounds and very little static. Mind you this is for the stock antenna.
There are a few quirks about this radio, as with any HT. There will always be little issues with any manufactures. The first issues with this radio is that with the factory CPS, you cannot change the default GMRS channels names, this including the repeater's channels too. But within the radio itself, if you select the channel and alias. You can change the default channel name. Just can't do it with the factory CPS.
The second thing about this radio is the display colors. I'm not sure who decided to select the foreground and background color. It's very hard to read the screen at times especially if there's any sunlight (inherit problem with TFT screens.)
The 3rd quirks is the antenna attachment. It's your standard SMA male. Not sure why have the mounting screw sticking so much out from the radio. But there is a reason, for that. If you look at the base of the stock antenna, it's recessed and the base sits firmly inside the radio housing body, thus how it achieved it's IP rating. Though I haven't really tested this radio by dunking into a bucket of water (not yet) but I have used it in the rain and it performed fine with no issues.
With that being said, let's talk about the little features that Revetis/Ailunce got it right. With it's IP rating, if you plan on using the belt clip. You have to unscrew the two back small machine screw in the back. Putting the belt clip on can be a bit of challenge. If you look closely where the screw goes into, there's a small o ring that is inside the screw hole. Also help to prevent water intrusion. Couldn't take a photo of this since my phone can't zoom in macro that great. So it's the little things like this that gain my attention to details.
As I mentioned earlier, the stock antenna is actually really good straight out of the box. But if you want to make this radio perform I suggest you get a aftermarket antenna. But keep in mind, if you replace the stock antenna with an aftermarket one, you will lose the IP rating and I don't suggest you use this in the bathtub.
So on the topic of aftermarket antenna, I tested 3 antennas with this radio. First one is the well know Nagoya 771, Diamond SRH77CA, and Comet SMA24. For some reason, the Nagoya test with a high SWR and I don't recommend that antenna. Both the Diamond SRH77CA and Comet SMA24 is the one I highly recommend.
As I mentioned about using an aftermarket antenna. You will get a gap between the antenna base and the radio. Though I think this is mostly cosmetic, you will again lose the IP rating (not water resistance). What I did was I use a firewall grommet made for automobile when you drill a hole thru the vehicle's firewall. The grommet is there so you don't cut or chafe the wire thus causing a potential short or electrical fire. I took two photos of the grommet sitting around the antenna and with the Comet antenna, being smaller and skinnier. I was able to shove the grommet deep inside the radio housing and I believe will prevent water intrusion from the antenna hole.
As with most GMRS only radios (firmware locked). Most manufactures use the same inside circuitry and guts as your regular HAM. They just flash a firmware where you can't transmit on the HAM frequency(2m/70cm) but you can listen. Here's a another caveat to this radio. There is a "unofficial firmware" floating around the net, that if you flash this radio. You can use this radio on the HAM bands (FYI, it's illegal to be using a GMRS radio on HAM bands and vice versa since both are not approval on the latter between the two.)
A quick note about the CPS, for anyone that own and messed with DMR radios/CPS. The factory CPS has a very similar design to those with DMR. You can create zones/banks, scan list, and groups. But each zone is only limited to 16 channels like how some Motorola are.
Overall, this is great GMRS only radio that will do more than what you need. Also the radio can hold 1000 channels (if you really fill up the 1000 empty slots, it's time for a new hobby) Will also look at getting another unit to my collections.
