Decent as long as you are aware of…

Overall decent walkie-talkies as long as you’re aware of these two caveats. You get what you pay for.

Amazing range! Easy to use! Extremely durable!

Want to know the quickest way to get targeted by security on a cruise?!?!?! HERE IT IS!!! lol!

These walkies talkies are amazing! The range is impressive. We were able to two way radio from the 14th floor down to the 5th floor (below sea level on the cruise ship), without any static!

We were so excited to use these that security took them from us! Even though nowhere on the prohibited list did it mention two way radios! Virgin Voyages makes up their own rules! Oh well! We got 3 out of the 6 days!

And they did give it back when we went off shore! Great piece of gear for overseas with your family and friends! Highly recommend it!

Easy easy to use! I love the individual charging portals! We had a radio per room, and it was awesome!

People that programs every radio onto same channel, can not get a connection

I needed these for work as a detox nurse, every other radio programmed on to the channel we use but no one has been able to get these ones to connect.

Work radio on the left, mine is on the right with the 3 buttons

Tech Savvy

You will 'brick' the radio if you use the Menu too much. How much is "too much" ?

I bought the RB48P for its 5W transmitting power. I did not buy a sub-$30 radio because I wanted a reputable and robust unit. The build quality is top notch. Solid and no frills. Haven't tried the IP67 waterproof claim yet. I am tech savvy guy and like to play around with the settings on any new gadgets. But just in under 10 minutes the unit was 'bricked'. I was going through the menu and trying different settings, the unit hung up. Upon cycling the power, the channel was stuck at '01' and sub-tone showed 'OF'. There was no way to reprogram the channel and CTCSS/DCS by any buttons combinations. I googled the problem and realized other Retevis models would hung up too. Retevis suggested to connect it to a PC and restore factory settings. I downloaded the Win 11 driver from Retevis website and immediately Windows gave a false virus warning. I have to disable Windows Defender in order to install the driver. The USB serial controller chip was a CH341 chip. I was a little bit disappointed by Retevis using such a low end chip on a mid range product. If I were the designer I would at least put a Prolific PL2302 chip or FTDI chip for even better result. The unit has a USB-C port for charging. My instinct told me to use that port to connect to a PC. !! WRONG !! That port would not connect to a PC. In fact Retevis sells a USB-C programming cable for this unit. Ding!! Why would Retevis not put a USB serial chip inside the unit , but instead made a separate cable for such a simple USB-to-Serial conversion? To the worse of all, the cable was a "non-stocking item" on Retevis official website. I have no way to soft reset the unit. So, my last resort was a hard reset. I opened up the back cover and unplugged and replugged the battery. But the problem persisted. That means, the problem was not volatile to lost of power. It was an EPROM corruption. Retevis really needs to fix this software bug. By Murphy's law, if I was able to break the unit in 10 minutes, any users out there will have a fair chance of breaking their units too. So.. Be warned. Don't scroll through the menu and make changes too fast. The EPROM will corrupt. My test of the unit could not continue. Shame.

I hear you

When out riding atvs or horseback riding it was always WHAT. Now it's I hear you loud and clear. This item has far exceeded my expectations by 10 fold. We've used them on the trails when some of the young ones get way to far ahead and need to told to slow down. The range for this item has been an amazing surprise. I'm talking a distance on a trail where I can't even see them. Amazing quality in the clear non static way. We've even roll over one and it got buried in the mud we found it by chirping the key button and it still works.

With this being a 4 pack we can be using all at once or take two when the ride is just us. This can be used for many applications from car to car while om the highway to just having one outside by the pool to get the kids attention.

Great instructions very easy to follow and they came charged right out the box. The yellow make it easy to spot and the charging bases fit neatly in a cabinet or by the front door for easy grabbing.
