Not double boxed for shipping but it works beautifully! The sound quality is everything I'd expect from a RODE mic in this price range. Perfectly compatible with my RODE PSA1+ desk mounted adjustable mic arm for everyday work. Love that it comes with a little tripod in case I want to record offsite.

This product was advertised as "like new" then it arrived broken and dented in places. The broken piece can be purchased separately, but I am discouraged that the product came damaged at such a high price.

I’ll start by this, Rode is a fantastic brand. I know that first hand. However, this experience has warranted the one star. I received a somewhat damaged box, and the inside was filled with what I could only describe as saw dust? Not quite sure. Clearly this was used or exposed in someway. As far as I can tell the mic works but I’m very disappointed that someone else may have used it before me. Who knows what they did.

I have read that the mic needs to be balanced well with the plastic stand that comes with it. When I looked t the stand, I could see why. The mic is metal and pretty heavy comparatively. Its easy to unscrew an adapter that connects the mic holder to the light stand, and without that, it is a standard size to connect to a heavier mic stand, as pictured. I also added a USB C to USB A cable, since I didn't have a USB C port available. Once these things were done, I tried it out and it really does sound perfect. Low noise, crystal clear, both for singing and for guitar. I'm very pleased with this mic.
Thanks for reading. :)

The sound quality recorded by this mic is fantastic. It captures even the smallest of details from guitars, vocals, cajon, tambourine, eggs, oneshots, block flutes, classical flute, everything.
Upon connecting to my laptop, it immediately updated the firmware and recognized the NT USB+.
Ater starting my DAW, and setting up the device to be the NT USB+, everything worked perfectly. I couldn't be more pleased.
The mic comes with a very nice and long heavy duty USB C cable.
The wind screen isn't the greatest, but it's sufficient and should hold up well.
The desk stand, while a nice sentiment, is very light weight plastic. It would have been much better if they had made it with metal to give it more stability. I tried the desk stand just to see how it was, and then I connected it to a boom mic stand.
If you use the stand, I recommend you do it carefully.
Lastly, on the funny side of things, I must say I believe this is the first time I've ever gotten anything that actually had branded desiccant, lol. Way to go Rode! I love it.
If you're looking for a quality USB microphone, look no further. While it's on the higher price point in comparison to its nearest competitor, I've no regrets with this purchase, and I'm extra proud of the fact it's NOT MADE IN CHINA!
AND, if that's not enough good news about a great product, I almost forgot to mention how this microphone is plug and play not only with my laptop, but also with my OnePlus android phone and my Samsung Galaxy S7 Plus Android tablet. On all platforms, works perfectly.

I'm sure the mic itself is fine. But you screw theic into your stand just a little too hard, and snaps off easily.
You know when old rubber degrades over time and crumbles. That's how it looked/felt when it came off.

This review is for the NT-USB+.
I can't say enough about the quality of this mic from the build and materials to the just awesome sound recordings it produces. It feels substantial in your hand but not heavy or unwieldy. The mount has two threaded options, the inner of which can be removed if your mount has a thicker male connector and you don't have an adapter, and you need to use the wider of the two - pretty cool feature.
Installation was legit plug and play. I was surprised how easy it was. I went with the included 10' usb-c to usb-c cable on a macbook pro and it was detected instantly and ready to use without needing to fight with any drivers or install the app. Setup was just as easy on a windows pc using a usb-c to usb adapter to connect to the computer. I was a little concerned that maybe the mic needed the extra power if could get from a usb-c port, but it worked great on a usb 3.0 port with the adapter and I haven't noticed any issues with quality. Windows installed the drivers and I was up and running in maybe a minute tops.
Sound quality is insane but you need to experience it for yourself. Highly recommended. And... it's got a cool blue glow to it when it's powered up that just looks cool and I wasn't expecting.

I have been using the Rode NT-USB+ for a just over a couple of months now, and it has completely transformed my recording experience. From the moment I unboxed it, I could tell this microphone was built to last. It is a bit heavy, but it feels solid and well-made, and the detachable pop filter is a nice touch.
The sound quality is where the NT-USB+ really shines. The large-diaphragm condenser captures every nuance of my voice with incredible clarity, and the cardioid polar pattern helps to reduce background noise. The Aphex DSP adds a nice touch of warmth to my recordings, making them sound even more professional.
I also appreciate the flexibility of the NT-USB+. It has a headphones output, which allows me to monitor my recordings in real-time, and the included desk stand and ring mount make it easy to set up and use. The 3m USB-C to USB-C cable gives me plenty of room to move around while I'm recording.
Overall, I highly recommend the Rode NT-USB+ to anyone looking for a high-quality USB microphone for their recording setup. While it may be a bit pricey, it is definitely worth the investment.

I do video narration and can’t believe the difference the NT-USB+ Rode mic has made in my voice quality. The built in compressor, Aural Exciter and Big Bottom add a perfect amount of effects giving crystal clear voice with a well rounded base. The PC software is easy to use and simple to set up. My computer instantly recognized the mic and connected to the software. Once you set up your file location, the recorded files are organized ready to be save in the format you want. You can record and save right through the Rode Connect software or save your mic setting in the Rode Central software then record with the built in effects directly into your favorite recording software. Once you get into the programs they are straight forward and easy to figure out and use.
The mic is very sensitive and literally picks up everything in the room or I turn the input down and speak into the mic when doing my recordings so it only picks up my voice. This would also be awesome for recording a guitar or other instrument and would pick up a pretty true rounded sound. I don’t do podcasts but I can see how this would be a professional option with the included Connect software.
The build quality is mostly metal with the exception of the windscreen. This is bigger than I thought and it has some weight to it. The USB C cord is about 8 feet long so you can move the mic away from your computer so it won’t pick up the fan. If you plan on using this with an iPhone or iPad, you will need a USB C to Lightning cable or an adaptor to make it work.
The Rode Mic did not come with any documentation although there are detailed setup and operating instructions on line. They’ve done a good job with the online documentation. If you watched the video I uploaded you’ll know why I gave the Rode NT-USB+ a three star rating. I’ve played and recorded music professionally my entire life. Microphones that hum or buzz do not sound professional. The Rode NT-USB+ has a distracting hum if you touch any of the metal on the mic. At first when I was testing the mic I was holding it in my hand. I could not get rid of the hum that was clearly heard in my recordings. It wasn’t until I mounted the mic on a stand that I realized the hum was coming from me holding it. Its quiet when its on the tripod or mic stand but as soon as I touch it with my hand it begins to hum. I don’t know if this mic is defective or if they are all that way but because of the hum, I gave it an average rating. Believe me, this mic checked all the boxes in every other area but, a recording with that kind of distortion could ruin an entire project.

I received this microphone for reviewing purposes and previously daily used a Blue Yeti along with reviewing several other microphones in wide price range. It suffices to say that Rode hit it out out of the park with this microphone with it's mobile ready connections and app control on top of the high standards of quality. After testing, this will easily become my new daily use microphone for voice overs, podcasts, and gaming. Overall this is an incredibly capable studio microphone at this price point.
As far as what I've seen others mention regarding the packaging, I noticed similar things when I opened up mine. Some dust likely from the cardboard likely because there was no plastic bag that the mic was wrapped in. All the factory seals were in place so I have no reason to believe it was used and simply seems like some of the internal cardboard packaging rubbed off during transit all of which immediately could be brushed off.

For $170, this is an amazing mic. It’s geared more towards vocals and likely more than most people need in a mic. The design is pretty solid, basically it’s all metal except for the bottom area where you can attach the optional boom. That small area is unfortunately plastic and might be a weak point (I don’t have the compatible RODE boom so I couldn’t say, just an observation). Here are my impressions of this mic:
1. You don’t need a USB/c port to use this mic. The connection on the bottom of the mic is USB/c. While that might worry someone who isn’t familiar with computers, there are any number of readily available USB/A to USB/C cables available. Don’t turn away from this mic thinking that you won’t be able to use it if you don’t have a USB/C port. You don’t need one. This will work with USB/A, thunderbolt, USB4, lighting, etc. You just need to buy a cheap USB/C to whatever you need cable (sold separately for a few bucks).
2. Desk stand is limiting. This includes a pop filter that is pretty good, but the desk stand is a bit limiting. It is all plastic and the metal mic makes this setup overly top heavy so there’s a very limited range of motion using the included desk stand otherwise it topples over.
3. You don’t need to install any software to use this. There are no required third-party drivers for this mic. It is plug and play with generic windows drivers.
4. There’s not really any control knobs on the mic. Just the sound levels. You can control the headphone sound from the mic, which is nice. Other than that, in lieu of knobs, this has a companion app, called “RODE Central.” This will let you control a number of features like the mic input volume, high pass filter (75/150/off), noise gate to remove background sounds, compressor, aural exciter, and big bottom. Aside from HPE, everything else is on/off only, and the default is off. You can make the changes in the app and it saves your settings to the mic, so the mic will remember and will stay that way even if you unplug the mic.
5. No mute button. One thing I miss is the mic doesn’t have an onboard push to mute button.
6. This is a condenser (not dynamic) mic and it uses a cardioid pickup pattern. Unlike a Yeti, there’s no option to switch to a different pattern. This mic registers on my pc as 48 Khz sample rate, 24-bit depth. For comparison, the Yeti is only 16-bit, which means the Yeti has less dynamic range.
7. The mic headphone jack is on the side of the mic. You can plug in and hear your voice in real time as you go, no worries about lagging behind. You can also adjust the headphone volume directly from one of the 2 knobs on the mic.
8. Input control. If you’re not happy with the input volume (you sound too soft) there’s several different things that might be impacting your volume but the bottom line here is that the problem is NOT this mic. Several things to check are first, the onboard input volume control; you need to download and install the RODE companion app to increase or decrease the mic input volume. Second, in addition the computer will have mic input volume which by default isn’t always set to 100. This is NOT the speaker volume control. Instead, it is the input control and you need to select the device (here, the RODE mic) in order to adjust the computer’s mic input level. Third is your speaker volume, and fourth is the settings from whatever program you’re using. If you’re having sound issues any of those may be set too low.
In summary, the sound is clear and crisp, and magnitudes better than a generic built-in laptop or webcam mic. Those tend to muffle sounds and have a very small pickup radius. This mic also has a nice design, and it has a heavy weight and feel. There’s a blue LED that softly glows from inside the mic when it is on (see photo). It is also much bigger than I was expecting. Overall, I’m very satisfied with this mic. My job requires me to regularly participate as a speaker in livestreams to a public audience and I find this to be a great mic for my purposes.
