Best key action at this price point

Love this piano. I upgraded from a Yamaha PSR s550 keyboard, and it's so amazing, so close to playing a real piano. Yeah, it feels heavier than other actions but your muscles adapt. The dynamic response is what makes it a true joy to play. You can play how u feel it, you can express through this instrument. I mainly use it as a midi controller with pianoteq vst and external speakers, it's beautiful. Internal sounds are okay for me, but you really have to try this thing with pianoteq or keyscape. Buy this if key action matters most to you. At this price point, it has no competition. Thanks Roland.

Great piano!

This was a HUGE upgrade for me and I love it! It sounds so much better then what I was using before. I love playing it.

So Very Disappointed! I wanted a Roland for many years. But very dissatisfied with the FP-10.

Has a beautiful sound, but that’s it! What different instruments there are, which is around 10, are found in the last bass octave and are very hard to read. I am 65yo & wear magnified reading glasses & still can’t read them. Then, you better have your iPhone, computer, iPad, anything with the app on it because that is the only way you can adjust the volume of the keyboard, record, or transpose keys, and also, that is where the manual is located. In my opinion, spend the extra money and get the FP 30. I donated my Casio Privia Px-360 to get my dream keyboard……The Roland. Wow, I’ve been very disappointed. I missed the deadline for return. I have played piano 55 years & even majored in music in college.

Nice Roland Digital Piano, but…

I ordered a new FP10, but what I received was anything but new. The keys are not clean, there are scuffs and scratches on the case, there was no paperwork or documentation, and the box was for the stand, not the piano. There is loose (broken) plastic inside the case.

All of the functions seem to work, and it sounds as expected.

Very good beginner piano

The keyboard has an excellent quality in terms of sound and feel of the weighted keys. Although it offers a limited selection of sounds, such a feature is not crucial for those who are just starting to play the piano.

Great Value

Replaced my 90's Roland 2500s (which I loved) with this keyboard after a house fire. I was willing to compromise a bit with a lesser model but to my surprise, other than the more formal look of my 2500, there are no compromises and in fact, this keyboard has more features; built in songs, an adjustable metronome and some other features that my 2500 didn't have. It also fits perfectly in my new apartment. Love it, love it, love it!

I Adore My New Roland FP-10!

I've had my FP-10 for about a month and a half now and I completely adore it! It feels very nice and fits well in my small apartment. Others have mentioned that the speaker volume is soft; that was actually a perk for me, since I don't want to bug my apartment neighbors (especially since I'm just a beginner and can't play much of anything yet, haha). There are five little lights that represent the volume of the speakers, and each light represents a few degrees of volume. If I'm not using my headphones, I'm playing at either the first or second light, the latter of which is perfectly loud for my needs. Haven't played it at full volume, but I imagine it would be plenty loud for most people in a private setting, heh. Besides the "ON/OFF" and "Volume" buttons there is one "Function" button that controls all the additional features of the piano (metronome, bluetooth, etc). You hold down that button and then a specific piano key to turn on/adjust your desired feature. The manual that arrives with the piano does not list all the functions, so I would encourage you to go to Roland's website to grab the full manual. Lastly, I would very much recommend buying the official Roland FP-10 stand. I started with a cheaper, folding stand, which was okay, but it sets the piano keys about 2 inches higher than a normal piano sits, which caused me some difficulties with getting my arms into the correct position. Once I caved and purchased the official stand (which, honestly, wasn't that much more expensive) everything felt perfect. It's not as bulky and heavy as it might look in pictures, it's very visually appealing and it makes the piano a lot easier to move around the room, when necessary. I do plan to keep my folding stand for travel use, however, since the official stand would need to be disassembled to fit into a trunk.

Super happy with it!

Sounds great I have a stand coming for it tomorrow because it's to heavy for me to keep carrying to and from my desk when i want to play but this sounds amazing and I love the weighted keys:) Can't wait to start learning the piano!

A very nice simulated piano

First things first: I am a layman and don't have much musical ability. But my six year old is very much into music and asked to start taking lessons a few months ago. For awhile we were using a learning keyboard I got in for review a few years ago. This is Roland device is much better from a quality standpoint.

The keys are heavy like a real piano and feel (to me at least) identical to the real thing. While it's long because of the full key layout, it is only as large as it needs to be to accommodate them. As such this will fit into spaces where a true piano is not practical. It's also light enough for a single person to carry it around.

The piano sound is amazing. Very realistic even out of its internal speaker. There are a few other synthesized instruments available (including six different piano variations) but it won't rival a true synthesizer for instrument variation. It does support bluetooth midi devices so you can supplement it with your favorite tablet music app.

And that's the one area where this device falls short. The bluetooth pairing is a bit confusing and the included instructions were not very clear. We managed to figure out that the only way to pair the keyboard to a device is to download the Roland app. Once paired the keyboard remains connected to the tablet for use with other apps like Apple's garageband.

This is also not a "teach yourself to play" device. The companion app is very barebones and doesn't offer much in the way of learning activities. I do think it has value for those taking formal lessons, however. It's less expensive than a full size piano, requires no tuning, the keys feel real, and it will fit into a much smaller space. It's very easy to move it out of the way when not in use too.
