I need a dock for my Mac mini m4 pro. I was in need of more usb ports to run my equipment. I already owned an own a OWC thunderbolt dock for another computer but I decided to find another alternative. OWC tends to be a bit pricey. After doing some research I came across this Satechi Thunderbolt 5 cube dock and I couldn’t be more happy with it. The cube dock supports thunderbolt 5 technology, up to 3 multi displays, it’s very quiet and great design which resemble my apple mini pro. It offers fast speeds and extra usb ports I was looking for at a very reasonable price but the surprise for me was the cube dock SSD enclosure that supports a NVMe SSD card up to 8gb. I then purchased a 4 tb ssd from another vendor and installed it into the dock. Installation was extremely easy and the speeds are great. If you’re looking for an external docking system for your Mac that won’t kill your pocket I would highly recommend Satechi Thunderbolt 5 Cubedock.

Awesome Dock Station
As a dock station, this is great. I switch this out from my work supplied dock station cause I like this more. I really like that I can just turn off the station instead of unplugging it when I want to cut power or disconnect my monitors. I like all the connection slots on the dock. It's a good size and looks sleek and modern. It does have the fan inside running all the time but I feel like it is pretty quiet. I have enough other sounds in my home office, like a ceiling fan, that are all much louder than the fan on this dock. The times that I've used the dock to connect memory devices, the connection is quick and seamless. I haven't bought any permanent memory to install in the dock yet, because of cost of the memory. Overall, I'm really happy with this. It has gotten hot enough to have the fan get loud twice while using it because my office gets kind of hot in the summer time. But that has only happened at the end of my work day just before I finished an eight hour day.

Solid 5+ Year Investment
Solid 5+ Year Investment—But It’s a Cable Swap, Not a KVM
I upgraded from a Dell monitor with built-in KVM and a Thunderbolt 3 dock. The power delivery on that setup was failing—constant throttling and device drops. Needed something durable for a dual-Mac workflow (Mac mini + MBP), and this delivered.
Setup:
Studio Display connects to the Satechi Cube Dock via Thunderbolt. The dock outputs to whichever Mac I’m using that day—I manually swap the TB cable between them. Keyboard, touchpad, and USB-A mouse stay plugged in, so switching is just one cable. Separate TB cord charges the iPad.
What I Like:
Power delivery is rock solid—no throttling, no drops. The dock is compact and doesn’t eat desk space. Build quality feels genuinely durable. The footprint is small enough that I don’t resent having it on my desk. If you’re the type to buy something and forget about it for five years, this is it.
What You’re Trading:
No button switching. No wireless switching. You physically swap the cable. It’s not elegant, and if you’re context-switching between machines all day, it’ll be tedious. For my workflow—anchored to one machine per session—it’s fine. Thorough, not elegant.
Not a KVM:
This is not a true KVM switch. You’re getting peripherals-on-dock convenience and excellent power delivery. You’re not getting one-click machine switching. If that matters to your workflow, keep looking.
Bottom Line:
Buy this if you’re committed to a stable, long-term setup with multiple Macs and you don’t mind a manual cable swap. At the price point, it’s a solid five-year bet. The power delivery and build quality justify the cost if longevity is what you’re after.

Works well with M1 Max Studio
Just received and installed. Using this along with M1 Mac Studio. Connects easily. I'm surprised how hot it gets. I have not used all ports yet but I'm pleased to see that I had nearly no speed loss with an external SSD.
Packaging for a $400 item was horrible. They simply put the box in a paper bag that was torn wide open. I'm surprised the unit didn't fall out.
update: I admit I don't know much about all these different ports, power needs and tech crap. But I just tried using a MacSuper drive and it wouldn't work in any port. The message says it needs power, but I though these ports, including the thunderbolt 5 did supply power. What's the point of the dock having it's own power supply? That's the 2nd thing I've plugged into it that doesn't work. Very disappointed.

A good product with one fatal flaw...
I was so excited at the opportunity to review this Satechi product—I have purchased many iOS accessories from this brand over the years, and jumped at early access to the Thunderbolt 5 CubeDock! This product unfortunately didn't meet my expectations, and the value for the money is debatable as this unit does not come with an SSD card, so there is zero storage capacity out of the box, negatively impacting the value for the money. As-is, I can't recommend this to others. The singular function of an accessory like this is unifying peripherals and for heavy lifting in the creative category, and without built in storage, the functionality is minimal. Know that if you purchase this device, you will also need to buy a separate SSD unit, which will add hundreds of dollars in further setup expenses to use this device to its full potential, otherwise it is relatively useless as a connector between devices.
Connectivity is fine, charging compatibility is solid (and fast), and I had no compatibility issues with both of my MacBook Pro laptops and my Apple Studio Display. Beautifully designed, it will look at home in any Mac-user's setup. This is where the benefits end, however, without the additional storage. Only proceed with purchasing this device if you have the additional SSD on-hand, or are planning to purchase extra storage, anyway.

Almost Perfect
If you're in the need for additional TB5 ports, you won't be disappointed. The ports on my Mini 4 Pro weren't adequate and was looking for a suitable dock. I came across this a while back and placed a pre-order in early March and received it about a week ago. I like the size and look of the dock...almost the exact same size as my Mac Mini which allows me to stack them. Stacking doesn't seem to be an issue as far as temperature goes...the body of the dock pretty much maintains a temp in the low 90's Fahrenheit. The hot spot seems to be the opening from the front ethernet port that reaches about 110F...according to Satechi specs, the max operating temp is 130F, so its well below spec. The Mini doesn't seem to have any problems staying cool while stacked on top. Not sure what temp the internal fan kicks in on, but it is extremely quiet.
About the only downside is it uses an external brick...would have been nice if the power supply was internal, but in the grand scheme of things its not the end of of the world. If you're looking for a dock that's aesthetically pleasing, provides plenty of ports, functions well, and looks like its made for the Mac Mini I highly recommend this dock. Despite the power supply brick, I still give it 5 stars...it was well worth the wait.
EDIT: Made an error...not an ethernet port...its the 10 Gbps USB-A port in the thermal image.
