If I could 0 star I would since I now have to wait up to 8 days to get 132 ish dollars back all because they labeled their product as for PS4 idk about Xbox or PC but it doesn’t work for PlayStation so I wouldn’t be surprised if it didn’t work for the others either.

This drive comes with a short cord (see photo) to connect the drive to your USB port. This is adequate to get the drive to work, but limits the placement of the unit. This is most difficult if attaching to the rear ports on a PC Tower. I did order some longer cables to extend the reach and allow for a more secure storage of the unit.
I simply plugged this into my PC's USB port. Windows immediately identified the drive, assigned it a drive letter and it showed up in the File Explorer Drive Tree (see photo).

So, I ordered (first picture delivered), and what was delivered was NOT the item I ordered: new. Is it a return? New Without Box? Most likely. But I was charged for new, not Used/Like New (a $25 difference).
In exchange for the first hard drive, I was shipped (second image). Sealed and unopened, that is what I paid for.
5 stars for immediate and satisfactory exchange. I'm a repeat customer of this particular item, as it is a user-friendly external hard-drive. HIGHLY recommend.

Works perfectly with my series x. Very easy to setup.
**Disclaimer: you cannot play series x enhanced games on this device; you will need a storage card instead for that.

Every other external hard drive I've ever had is still running just fine. Maybe there's a reason this one comes with a 1-year recovery service? I'm not even sure where to go from here with this hard drive. It's a bummer.

This has turned into one of the most useful and greatest purchases I've made in quite some time. I use this to store all my Bluray and DVD collection. I rip it from the disc and load them all here. Still have about 2TBs left over too. It's nice and sturdy. I leave it next to my Bluray player. I plug it into my Bluray player USB port and I can watch it on my TV with no problems. You can plug directly into your TV too but your TV may not have the correct codec to play. I cut the cord in 2020, bought this and now I don't really need any pay sites. Between all the free apps and this, I have all the content I ever want to watch. And I will continue to buy physical media and rip them until I can't. Build my own digital library.

It was great and worked fine until it started showing "corrupted and unreadable." Any way to fix this? I am going to see if a new cable will help.

I have had a PS5 for two years after it came out. I finally got one and used up most of my internal storage in the console. I love it already. I have been able to purchase so many more games without the hassle of running out of storage as well.
Highly recommend this for any gamers or people who need a really good external storage

Buen Disco duro; compré el de 5 TB; aunque me parece exagerada la diferencia que existe contra el almacenamiento real que es 4.54 TB. Deberían mejorar ese tema.

I was skeptical of this at first when I saw the connection type. I'm not thrilled about it because if the cord goes out it's probably gonna b difficult to get just another cord, but it works GR8! Transfer speed is excellent. I'm happy with the price for a 5tb. Worth the money. Am going to buy another 1

then SEAGATE told us that "they better send us a new one" and they have already More than 20 days have passed and they have not sent us anything, they say they are migrating the company's system, then UPS had it to send and they did not give us the tracking, now what do I do, who answers me? my designers don't have the tools to work optimally

A lot of memory for the price. Sometimes my computer has a 2-3 second delay accessing the drive but, it always works. This may be due to my usb extension or just that vast amount of space my computer has to acknowledge on the huge drive. I’m happy with it.

Haven't gotten any problems, this chonky portable made it 5,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean & 36,000 feet up in the air 🥶
Can withstand outdoor temps of 100+ Fahrenheit
Absolute unit. Will try to update this review if I can once it hits wintertime.

I got gypped by a different Chinese company with an "8TB SSD" for around $90. Couldn't even install one game on it because the upload speed was so abysmally slow, even after reformatting. An SSD it was not. (They even had false 5 star reviews for a totally unrelated art calendar on their page.)
I knew Seagate was a more reliable brand. And even though this isn't an SSD either, this 5 terries of quality cyber space is so good to have right now, that's worth pitching this commercial-style review. I've even stored and ran my first game on it. (Pics included).
As for BAOGSM, may your products find their way to the bottom of a landfill where they belong. Thank you, Seagate, for giving me somewhere to put my Dingaling.
Big Moike!

I bought it to save docs from an HP and a MAC, I successfully saved the HP docs (easy) but on MAC it only reads, I can't store or retrieve anything from it.
And for the registration, I always get a message saying: There is a problem connecting to the Seagate registration server. Please try again later. And I tried several times and nothing. Not happy with it so far.
UPDATE:
In the description it says it works with both, and It did work perfect with my HP as described but you have to actually FORMAT it to work with MAC.. after this it does work with both perfect...so far :)

I recently bought a drone and the video I've been downloading rapidly filled up the drive on my laptop. My computer was starting to run a bit slower and I realized I had all this video I would be better off storing off the main drive.
I've been told to buy a solid state drive but for the price and capacity of this drive, it was hard to pass up. Plug it in and it's ready to go. Best of all is the speed! Friends told me to expect several hours to transfer data but I was able to transfer half a terabyte in under an hour. It was surprisingly fast. Now when I work on a video, I can do the work on the computer and when finished, transfer all the files to the external drive.
I probably should have done this a long time ago but highly recommend getting an external drive and this Seagate drive is amazing!

Out of the hdd brands I've used from Lexar, Samsung, Seagate, Toshiba, and Western Digital, I have had both my 2tb and now 5tb drives run into issues.
The 2 tb drive had constant boot errors when I would use it on my laptop, but it was my first large hdd and would work besides that. I had it for about a year before I started having issues with it, which prompted me to get this new drive, chucking it up to bad luck.
The new 5tb hdd drive, which I purchased in conjunction with a seagate drive for backups either way I got in April. Now in December, 8 months later, the drive has stopped working. No signs. I literally used it last night, powered down my machine, powered it back up in the morning and the drive is unreadable.
I can't tell what I'm doing wrong, because it's just these drives. I've had the Toshiba for 7 years. I tried ignore my bias and trust the good reviews and numbers, but this is frustrating.

I have read some really bad reviews about these drives and don't seem to see any issues. I have been in IT since i was 7 years old. Lol and professionally for 25 years. I have 3 of these units connected usb 3.0 to my server to farm chia coin and at 95% full iam almost still getting 150 mbps. Well over the claimed 120 mbps. So unless something goes horribly wrong with one of them soon. I don't understand what these guys are talking about

There's nothing impressive of this old fashioned design. The connector is still viable to bend if mishandled. They should have made the plug shorter or embedded a half inch deeper in order the plastic body may help secure it from bending. I wish Seagate will improve the casing with rubber bumb guards in the future. Write speed is sufficient enough for casual users. Above all somewhat satisfied but the price is worth the purchase for its capacity.

good price for storage, reasonable transfer speed on usb 3.0 (74.4MB/s) go for the internal on usb 2.0 (20MB/s).
You can see peak speeds up to 230MB/s on this drive but it has trouble with small files and average transfer rate ends up being 74.4MB/s on mixed files. For ref, one drive to NVME SSD is about 192mb/s on 200mb internet connection. I was impressed this was cheaper than the internal drive, but I suspect the internal would be a bit faster. No significant difference was observed by setting win10 policy to optimize transfer vs safe removal.
Rank: NVME SSD>SSD>IntHDD >MSonedrive@200MB>this [email protected]>>>>>this [email protected]>USB drive on 2.0>>>UniVPNnetworkdrive = MSonedrive on wireless

I mostly play story driven single player games and mainly come online for either DLC and updates for the PS4 console system and game apps. My gripe with the PS4 pro is the stock memory capacity. I recently ran out of space on my 1 TB stock internal. I discovered the cause of this were mainly DLC and updates. I research in to some solutions on this issue on reddit. I was decisive on purchasing Seagate FireCuda 2TB Solid State Hybrid Drive; I been recommended to change the internal. Suddenly from a reddit post. I received a different view point on using an External HDD instead. I was recommended the one I'm reviewing.
My Problem: I want to be able to keep all my game apps, updates, and overall data. I don't like the idea to delete and re-download everything when I need to make space in my 1 TB stock memory. Due to my local area having crappy ISP and internet speed 30-55mbps I have to leave my PS4 on few days when it comes to files been over 100GB.
Overall: If you have a similar problem like me. Get this HDD. It's a remedy and you have plenty of space to keep all your game apps files. You just never know when the internet might be unavailable. in you won't have access to get all DLC and updates you just deleted alone with the game app.

Disk is NTFS by default. I use it on macOs Mojave, so I reformatted APFS with OS utility (I dont trust the Seagate app bundled). Not noisy at all, it does vibrate more than others when in use. Datarate transfer (with empty disk) is standard for a mechanical hdd: WRITE: 117Mb/s - READ:139Mb/s. On smooth surfaces (glass desk for example) tend to slide around: I don't understand why it doesn't have rubber feet. My trick is using a little piece of double-sided adhesive tape under hdd.
Seagate is known for its reliability: I hope the disk will work without problems for at least 4/5 years
