Well built but not a 1 cable device

I will start with the good, because there is a lot of it.

The monitor itself is very well built, super thin and light but sturdy as you would want.

The spring mechanism is strong enough to hold this on to just about any laptop but well made enough to not worry about it damaging your laptop screen

The image on the screen is not best in class but it is more than adequate and definitely better than you would expect at this price point and thinness

whether open or closed , it looks like a high end kit.

Overall i am very impressed by this monitor - but here comes the bad:

It is well documented that this monitor should work with a thunderbolt port. Since the only options are 2x USB-C ports and 1 thundebolt port, I expected that it would work with a single thunderbolt cable for power and signal.

Well, it doesn't.

No matter what i tried, this will not power on with the thunderbolt port, and will not get a signal from the USB-C ports. I tried 7 different laptop models and several brands and even a thunderbolt docking station. It just isn't happening.

I would really have preferred that this worked with a single cable but it just doesn't so pack 2 USB-C cables and expect that 2 of your USB ports are going to be in use while using this.

It's not ideal but not a deal breaker.

I would have given this 3 stars for that fact alone but i feel like everything else about this monitor is just so good that it deserved the extra star.

Truly plug and play!

I bought this Laptop Screen Extender, 15.6 inch Ultra Light and Thin Triple Portable Monitor with 1080P FHD IPS display. This is a two-screen monitor set that attaches to my laptop for a full triple display.

Build quality is great. It comes with a screen bag, just like a laptop bag, that both screens can fold into during commute, which makes traveling with them super easy and protected.

My laptop has two USB-C ports that support both screens. One screen is true plug and play with just one cable. If you need two screens at once, you need to use the included power cord to provide power for the second screen, which is expected for my laptop.

Overall they fit perfectly with my 15 inch laptop and are really light and thin. The picture is crisp and bright. Makes working on the go so much more productive.

Absolute game changer when traveling for work!

I’ve been using the screen extender for a couple days now and I have to say that I’m impressed. It’s so nice to have the two extra screens for work and play. They are attached and fold up nicely and fit into the provided carrying bag. So far so good! I would buy again. The quality is good and it is super easy to hook up and comes with all necessary cords.

Broke in 3 weeks

Only 15 days of use and one screen now has lines through it. Nothing happened to it, it turned on with this.

Good for a bit of extra screen space

One of my machines that I travel with is a mini pc. I have a portable monitor already but felt like I wanted a bit of extra screen space so picked this up. The good stuff: As far as quality goes, it seems to be well made and durable. I don't see any bad pixels on the screen. I've been using it for a while and when collapsed, is quite slim. I love that it comes with all the cables you need for a variety of configurations. It also comes with a nice sleeve that fits well into a backpack. It also works well in any orientation. I'm using it with Linux, but I'm sure it'll work with any OS. Setup was extremely easy and it is simple to use.

What I didn't like. To me, it doesn't seem like a good value. It feels costly for the size. Also, as I was playing around with it to determine how best to set it up, it kept slipping off the sides of my monitor. I know it is intended for a laptop, but my portable monitor is the same width, if not slimmer than a laptop, so I would imagine folks may go through the same issue trying to clip it on a laptop. I would have also appreciated if it could bend in the opposite direction. It would give me more options for how I position it. Overall, it is nice, but I'd consider something else for the price.

Laptop monitor screen extender review

Having used a freestanding 14-15” monitor as an extra monitor for my laptop for years, this monitor which actually attaches to your laptop’s screen was a very pleasant surprise. It just looks and feels so much more streamlined with my setup.

Upon unpacking the monitor, the first thing I noticed was that the graphics, packaging and instructions were all very impressive. The instructions are clear and in color to match the color-coded tabs on the cables. The slipcase/protective cover is a very nice addition and even contains a separate compartment for carrying the cables necessary to attach this to your laptop monitor. When closed, the unit is fairly light and compact.

The screen is actually so thin and light that I thought they forgot to pack it ! I thought I’d just received a clip to attach another monitor, not the monitor itself! It was a pleasant surprise to unfold the unit to discover just how thin and light the monitor part of this product is!

Thanks to the clear, concise instructions and the colored tabs and ports, it was easy enough to attach to my MacBook Air’s screen and connect the USB-C cable from my MacBook to the monitor. The provided instructions are clear as well as the labels for the ports on the rear of the monitor. It took a little bit to get the resolution of the external monitor where I wanted (mine defaulted to pretty large text and graphics). The image was crisp, clear and bright and looked great next to my MacBook Air’s screen. Of course, it drained my battery quicker but that’s to be expected when you’re using your laptop to power the monitor as well.

There are only a couple of minuses and they’re minor. As someone who’s used to having an external monitor on the left side of my main monitor, it took a little getting used to having it on the right side. This is the advantage of standalone monitors. However, this looks so good clipped to my MacBook Air that the only reason I’d use my freestanding monitor was if I needed three screens!

My biggest issue is that the plastic monitor case is extremely susceptible to fingerprints, even on the textured part (see photos). Granted, I have oily skin but this thing really attracts the fingerprints and smudges. It was even a little tricky to wipe them off!

Despite these small quirks, I am extremely pleased with this monitor extender and would recommend it if you’re looking for such a device!

Excellent Portable Monitor with Great Picture Quality and Convenience

The monitor responds very well during normal use. I did not notice any noticeable delays when moving windows, browsing, or working with multiple applications. It feels smooth and reliable for productivity tasks, and the connection remains stable once it is set up. While it is not designed for gaming, the responsiveness is more than enough for work, multitasking, and everyday use.

The overall build quality feels solid and durable. The frame and materials feel well made, giving it a more premium feel compared to many other portable monitors. The mounting system holds the screen securely, but because it adds extra weight to one side of the laptop, I recommend using it on a stable surface to prevent the laptop from tipping over or putting unnecessary stress on the hinge.

The picture quality is one of the best features of this monitor. The 1080P display looks sharp and clear, with good colors and excellent detail for its size. Text is easy to read, and images look vibrant and clean. For a portable laptop extender, the screen quality exceeded my expectations and makes working with multiple windows much more comfortable.

The setup process is simple and user-friendly. It connects easily using the included cables, and I was able to start using it without dealing with complicated software or drivers. The plug-and-play design makes it very convenient, especially when using it in different locations or while traveling.

So far so good

So far so good! I’ve not used this for long, but I am really liking it. It’s great for working on the go, but also just nice if I want to sit in my bed instead of my desk. I previously had something similar to this but it was a lot heavier. The packaging for this is very nice and it is securely held within a thin leather case along with foam boards. The leather case is a great addition so there’s a compact way to carry this along when traveling. I can use the single USB-C connection with my laptop but unfortunately I also need my only USB-C port for my charger so I have to use the two-connection way with the HDMI and USB-A. However, it’s easy to figure out - it does matter which of the available ports you put the HDMI on but that’s detailed in the instructions. Everything else works as it should once it’s plugged in and settings adjusted- it functions completely like you would expect a monitor to work. I can extend my display, the quality looks great, the settings are adjustable thru the computer as expected, and it responds as expected. It’s durability is yet to be determined with use. I’m a little nervous how easy this might be to break since it is so lightweight but time will tell. The price seems in line with other products like this.

Awesome to have, just keep one thing in mind...

I've been rockin' multi-monitor setups since the early 2000s and I consider myself spoiled. Normally, I avoid using my laptop for this very reason, but now... I don't have to.

Great Screen Extender

Truly plug and play (minus one small thing but I’ll get to that).

This monitor/extender was super easy to set up. It was packaged extremely securely, everything was labeled really well for straightforward setup, and it was super easy to attach to my laptop.

The screen itself comes in a very nice protective/travel case. It’s a deep, rich green color and it says it’s leather but I’m not sure how true that is. It feels like a brushed leather, but the inside feels like a different material. Regardless, it’s very high quality and should protect the screen well.

The screen itself is constructed really nicely. All the hinges and mechanisms feel very sturdy and durable. I love that the kick stand is extendable and rotatable depending on your needs and the support that attaches onto the laptop is easily extendable and attaches super easily. No fuss or struggle. The screen is on a hinge and I like that I can adjust it to be level or turned in towards my main monitor if I prefer. I do wish I could also rotate it on multiple planes so that it could be at a different viewing angle than my laptop screen but that’s a minor thing and doesn’t bother me that much.

All the cables are labeled with their function/use to easily navigate through and grab what you need. Upon plugging it in with the proper cable, (I plugged it into my MacBook Pro M1 2020 version) the screen immediately came on and pulled up my lock screen on both sides. Upon logging in I was then able to go to display settings and customize my setup to my preferences just like on a windows computer. From there I could easily drag things over to the other screen and it functioned like a separate monitor.

The only aspect I struggled with and could never figure out was the audio. All the inputs were correct on my computer and monitor, it recognized the screen extender as an audio output, but any time I switched to it for audio output the sound never played and I was prompted to restart for audio function. I never got it to work. Maybe it’s my laptop, maybe it’s the extender, but there weren’t any audio troubleshooting guides I could look at so I tried everything for about half an hour before I gave up.

Besides the audio troubles, this extender is top tier and it will be so great for home, work, and travel. Great value for the cost, even with the struggle I had.

Sleek Design Perfect for Hybrid Workers

This portable dual monitor is an amazing product, and I am absolutely loving it. It is exactly as advertised: very thin and sleek! I have always preferred a dual-monitor setup, but I constantly transport my laptop to and from work. Because I use it in so many different locations, I did not want to be tied down to a stationary desk. This monitor makes it incredibly easy to take a multi-screen setup anywhere. For reference, I am using this with an Apple MacBook.

PROS:

- True Plug-and-Play: It started up immediately with no installation required.

- Ultra-Slim Design: The monitor is very thin, just as advertised.

- Seamless Setup: The monitor connects easily and includes a great variety of connection cords.

- Display Quality: The screen is crisp and clear. I did have to manually adjust it to my personal resolution preferences because I did not like the default setting, but it was very easy to use and change.

- Smart Kickstand: The built-in 90-degree rotation kickstand (positioned on the back of the laptop side) helps keep the laptop from falling backwards with the added (minimal) weight of the dual monitor screen.

- Bonus Protection: It comes with an included sleeve case to hold the monitor, which I really appreciate.

CONS (or more a WISHLIST to improve):

- Screen Pivoting: I wish the screen could pivot up and down independently to change the vertical position. When you tilt your laptop screen back, it moves the dual monitor screen with it. Sometimes I need to adjust only that secondary screen.

- Case Storage: I wish the included sleeve case had a small separate section to better hold the attachment cord, though that is just a minor wishlist item at this point.

Overall, I think this is a fantastic purchase for anyone needing productivity on the go. I am very happy with it.

Excellent for when you are traveling and need 2 screens

My husband travels for work and uses a laptop where he often needs to have multiple screens. He previously would take a cheap monitor with him, but it wasn't the best set up and was annoying for him to pack up and travel with so we upgraded him to this!

Its incredibly light weight and portable with its hard leather case to store it. It also comes with multiple cables so that you can connect it different ways depending on your computer.

It also has its own setting button so that you can adjust the brightness, etc. And the screen is nice and clear and seems to be very good quality. And it has its own speakers you can turn on or off in the settings of your computer. It comes with very detailed instructions about how set up and use this. Its very easy to connect to your computer screen l and also has a kick stand for it to stand on its own if you dont wans to hook it to your computer screen This is a seriously great upgrade for my husband's work and travel!

Awesome screens

Screens are easy to use! They are super nice quality and exactly what I wanted they are plug and play no extras. I have them on my MacBook Pro and I’ve had no issues with them. I definitely recommend these screens from gaming to work or movie watching. I’m completely satisfied with them.

Needs improvement

This dual portable monitor needs improvement. There are a few problems with this system. Each monitor requires a separate USB-C connection from the computer for power and video. If your laptop only has one USB-C port (like mine does) how do you connect the second monitor? I suppose you could use a splitter but why don’t they just wire the two monitors together so you only have to use one USB-C port to power both of them. Another problem with the cables is the HDMI cable plugged into one of the monitors by itself doesn’t even work, you still have to plug in the USB-C for power. I thought perhaps u could use one of the USB-C cables jumped from the other monitor (because each monitor has two USB-C ports) to power the second monitor. However, the cables are not long enough. Another issue is the quality of the video screens is terrible. I’m using it for stock charts and it’s so fuzzy it makes them unusable. Finally, the total weight of the monitors seems to be a lot.

Easy to attach

I purchased this extra monitor for working while we travel. I even use it as a 3rd monitor while working from my home office.

Bought 2 and they are different screen size

I bought one about 4 months ago and my daughter cracked the screen. So Iwent into my order history and just hit reorder. The new one that arrived is smaller in height.

I still love the screen as I work from home and it allows me to not be stuck in the office all the time and still be sufficient with my work.

Taking off stars due to the fact that this one is smaller.

Easy set up! Great quality!

I work remotely, so I normally have my laptop set up to a huge desk with regular computer monitors, and I am stuck working at my desk. With this set up, I am able to work from wherever I want to if I want to go outside and work I can if I wanna work on the back porch I can if I wanna work in the living room I can. I’m absolutely in love with it. Clear, crisp quality picture. The value for my money was great. Sound quality is the best it can be for a laptop. Set up is easy just snaps around your normal monitor and plugs in. I did have a little struggle when I first got it. The instructions were a little confusing for me, but the ports are labeled on the back of the monitor is tiny though to show you which goes where HDMI to HDMI port on your laptop and the regular cord to the regular cord, also came with a very nice little carrying case that I loved as well . I highly recommend

So convenient

I travel for work, and I am enrolled in taking my masters. Since my laptop is only 13” and when I do school work I have several programs opened this was a life saver! It helps me easily travel with an extra screen that I can detach when I want. Highly recommended! The carbon fiber-like finish is pretty nice too!

I recently got this laptop monitor extender, and although I use it with my phone instead of a laptop, and it has been an outstanding addition to my tech setup.

This extended screen is awesome, it has everything I need, lightweight, good quality, easy to setup, must have for remote work. The package is Apple style white box, with a screen, a travel bag and three cables. There are 3 type-c on the screen, I use first two, the first one for power type c and usb cable, the second is 2 type-c cable for signal, you can see the light changes to blue light, before it was red. And this works amazingly well in my remote working station. Hope I knew this earlier!! Recommended to my friends who WFH! Super buy!!

Very handy

High quality laptop monitor extender

I am pretty happy with the product. It’s very easy to use. It came with three cables and I used the USBC to HDMI for display and USBA to USBC for charging. The leather cover is decent and instructions are clear. Super excited to carry it with me for my traveling. Finally got to improve the efficiency when not in office or at home! And it’s lightweight as well! Good product with reasonable price.

Travel/Portable monitor!

This monitor is great and useful! I am in pharmacy school and I have been using the monitor with my Apple laptop (15 inch) to study and multitask. I also use it with my laptop and iPad as well to further my ability to do different things without sticking to one screen. I think it is a very useful tool to have especially if you have multiple businesses and responsibilities that you need to monitor. I am also a day trader and this gives me the ability to monitor charts and trades while also looking at lectures, slides, assignments and more. One thing to keep in mind os that it does take a lot of energy from your battery so make sure your Mac is always plugged in or not plugged in for a limited time. I also wish that it was a little more flexible with the ability to close the monitor with your screen to always keep in plugged into your Mac, but that is not a huge deal. I see myself having and using this for a long time! It’s better than buying an expensive monitor for your computer that you cannot move around portably like this one!
