Where The Sidewalk Ends - 20 Second Book Review

This is a silly trip down nostalgia lane, where laughter was key in getting us to listen. The delightful portraits of outlandish characters still sing deep within my inner child as it brought me back to simpler times, sitting in my school’s musty library.

No hidden meanings or missed symbols. All it does it brings you a creative play that is missing from today.

Classic!!

Such a classic. I read Shel Silverstein as a kid in the 90s. Now I’m reading to my son. Books are so silly and fun to read.

Crease in cover

3 stars - the book itself is what I was expecting but it is for a Baby Shower and the front of the book cover has a crease right down the middle. A little disappointing. I wouldn't care so much if it weren't being given as a gift.

Speedy Delivery But Damaged

Though it won’t affect my usefulness of the book it arrived damaged which sucks because I take great care of my books.

Delightful book!

This is book is a favorite of my daughter and I. She often chooses this book for bedtime reading. Many of the poems make us laugh. I love the poem “Invitation” so much I put it on my wall in my entryway!

Book is coming apart

My book was just delivered and when I opened it, the pages are coming unbound... I guess this is acceptable condition??

How are there so many good reviews

This book has very dark, strange stories in them that I did not think appropriate for a 5 year old. This should be for way older kids if any kids at all. Returning this immediately. I’m really surprised by all these great reviews. Do people enjoy scaring their children?

My kids loved this and I know my new grand baby will too

This was so spot on with my daughter and her 'Pappy'. If my daughter delivers a girl, I feel she will be the same...🤗

We are so excited to share this book of poems with our next generation

Book cover has damage - Otherwise great book

This book is one of my favorites as a child and I purchased it as a gift. Overall the book is fine, but the cover has a lot of imperfections. I rated this as a 3 star, as the book had damage.

Not a huge deal, but a bit frustrating. The pages are all intact without issues.

The book is great for all ages!! Highly recommend it to anyone, just be cautious with ordering and having it shipped as it can be damaged.

Wish they would have packages it better

Loved this book as a child, bought it to share with my daughter. My only complaint is that it was shipped internationally without any thing to protect the edges. It's seems to have arrived in good condition.

Classic

Definitely a classic for children of all ages, and I mean all ages being on the older side myself. I love all the silly little poems and illustrations that go with it and had to get the special edition with the 12 new poems definitely worth a read if you never have before, period.

Turned my fingers black.

3 stars because the poems in the book are great and the product is what it said it was but I spent 15 mins holding the book without the slip on it to read to my son and it turned all of my fingers black. I’ve scrubbed and scrubbed and the picture I’ve attached is after me scrubbing. I don’t think that’s supposed to happen.

I wish it never ended...

I couldn't be happier to own this book again after so many years. I feel as if Shel Silverstein's books are so important for children growing up. A mixture of campy and fun poems as well as life lessons. Some prefer The Giving Tree but for his lighter work I think this is a collection of great work. Nostalgic for sure. "Where the sidewalk ends." That place represents childhood, its innocence, and its fundamentally different way of looking at the world (as opposed to the way that adults view it). If you have a preteen in your household this might be just as good if not better than Chicken Soup For The Soul. Keep reading alive, put down that smart phone, and give this book a go.

Good quality book just a big over look on someone's ...

Would have been a five star review but, I clearly ordered the special edition of where the side walk ends. The book that showed up was not the special edition with the extra poems and drawings, but the regular version. Good quality book just a big over look on someone's part.

Book came as expected, however, dust jacket is bent with a small tear. Book is a gift so a bit bummed about that.
