Lightweight, but well made and durable. It sets up easy and comes with everything you need…. no tools required. You can easily fit five chairs under it (see the photo).
I looked at a cheaper version, but decided to spend the extra money to get this one. Someone next to us had that one. It was MUCH smaller and took four of them quite some time to get it set up.

Worth the $$$
Great Buy
I wasn't sure that this would be with the money but it turned out I was wrong. It does cost a couple of dollars but was well worth the price. My whole family was able to get under the shade without any issue. It was simple to set up and take down. The breeze off of the water kept it up so I didn't have to use the No Wind Kit. It is easily stored in its own bag. The material seems to be durable so it shouldn't;t tear or rip like flags tend to do. It was cool and shady under it even with the direct sun and triple digit heat it. I noticed several other beach goers with the sam set up. I know there are only a couple of color options, maybe in the future some others can be added.

The Best Tent I’ve Ever Owned – Easy, Classy & Beautiful!
Best tent I’ve ever owned! ☀️🏖️⛱️🏝️🏝️
Absolutely love this tent! It’s incredibly easy to set up, super easy to take down and pack away, and it looks amazing. The design is classy and premium—it really stands out from all the other tents around.
The colors are exactly as pictured and look even better in person. Beautiful, practical, and very well designed. Definitely one of the best purchases I’ve made. 100% recommended!

Great product!
We have had our Shibimi shade for 3+ years it had no issues.Absolutely love it!
The wife and can have to set up from the time we open the bag in 3-4 minutes.
Even by myself, it doesn’t take over 5 minutes.
Tear down is even quicker. Occasionally, I may have to reposition one leg or the other because of changing wind directions.
Extremely light and takes of virtually no room in our vehicle.
Put it to the test one time in Florida, the wind was gusting to 20+ mph. Other than the noise of it whipping, it did great. Highly recommend!

Beach Heaven
Feels opulent to have such ample shad with the larger one. The canopy provided enough space for me to get in a full beach workout without burning. Easy to set up and just a little more challenging to take down. Still it makes my heavier beach umbrella seem antiquated.

Doesn’t work on wind switching days… nightmare!
Just moved to Florida and there were a few of these on the beach so I looked up reviews and it looked and sounded simple from all the reviews but OMG what a nightmare!! After 30 minutes of trying to turn toward the wind, wind kept shifting to the point we gave up because it kept slapping us in the face, we decided to buy this $60 Saltlife one from Costco. On a positive note customer service for this company was amazing when I called about the fact my refund hadn’t come through yet they immediately refunded my money and were very nice, so upgraded to 2 stars based on their customer service👍 For $300 I want a relaxing day at the beach not spending the day moving it constantly into direction of wind

Beach shade upgrade
I was a little concerned about spending $300+ on a beach shade, but after setting it up for the first time, I became a believer.
It literally took me about 3 minutes the first time, and I couldn’t believe how simple and sturdy the whole setup was. I got the large one for our family of three, and it gives us plenty of space. My wife and daughter also find it incredibly easy to set up.
The fact that the whole thing weighs under 4 lbs is nuts. The poles feel well-built, and it’s incredibly easy to carry around. You don’t have to overthink or plan your beach setup by bringing stakes, a mallet, or a bunch of extra equipment.
Stability was probably my biggest concern before buying it. After the first setup, though, I was seriously impressed by how well-engineered it is. Once the wind catches it, you understand how the design works. The stitching also looks great and feels like good quality.
As for the “noise” people mention, I actually find it somewhat soothing when you combine it with the sound of the ocean waves. If anything, it makes it sound like you’re sitting in more wind than there actually is.
The amount of shade is also true to the advertised specs. You could easily fit around 8 people with chairs underneath it and still have a comfortable amount of space.
One of my favorite things is how open it feels. There aren’t hard bars hanging over you that make you feel trapped or that you have to worry about hitting your head on. At 6’4”, I really appreciate that.
Yes, $300+ seemed expensive at first, but after actually using it, I understand why people love these things. It’s lightweight, simple, well-built, and incredibly easy to use.
Side note: they do include the wind assist with this purchase.

Love my Shibumi
Love, love, LOVE my Shibumi! I was approached many times and asked where I got it, as folks watched us easily erect it in minutes, and then relax under the shade. The orange and pink color stood out on the beach beautifully. It’s so light and easy to carry. Highly suggest! We’ve already purchased the larger version.

I love it !
I love it, it's a bit pricey, but my wife says we'll use it all the time because it's just so convenient. I'm so glad I didn't go for those $100 canopies—those cheap ones are such a pain to use that we'd probably end up only using them once.

A Million percent worth it!
My wife and I ride down to the beach on our bikes every weekend in the summer. I am a pale white guy and this canopy has been such a game changer.
I typically have to over apply copious amounts of sunscreen because bringing a canopy would be too hard on the bikes. This canopy is super convenient and lightweight. Our first time putting it up took maybe 3 mins, we thought we were going to look stupid like we didn’t know what we were doing, but it was super easy and just worked. Go watch a YouTube video of it, so simple, but has worked every time. Definitely worth it if you want a light weight, easy and portable solution for shade.

Game-changer for easy beach days!
I bought the Shibumi shade after comparing it to other options like the ShadeSock, and it has been absolutely fantastic for our family beach trips. We’ve used it multiple times on our recent Gulf Shores vacation, and it performed perfectly every time.
Setup is incredibly easy — I can honestly set this up by myself in about four minutes. No complicated poles or frustrating instructions. You just anchor it, let the wind help fill it, and stake it down. It’s so straightforward that even on windy beach days it goes up without a fight.
It’s also quiet for what it is — unlike many shades that flap and rattle loudly in the breeze, the Shibumi stays relatively calm and stable. It creates a nice big shaded area without constant loud noise, so we could actually relax, read, and let the kids play more peacefully.
Takedown is just as simple — at the end of a long beach day, it collapses and packs away quickly. No wrestling with tangled fabric or stubborn frames. It fits back into its carry bag easily and doesn’t take up much space in our RV or vehicle.
The shade provides excellent coverage and blocks the sun effectively while still allowing some airflow. It’s held up great through several full days of use, including some breezy conditions. We paired it with our portable beach chairs and it made for the perfect family setup.
Highly recommend the Shibumi Shade if you want something reliable, easy, and low-stress for the beach. It’s worth every penny for stress-free sunny days!

Genius product, great customer support
I love an innovation for which only barrier was ingenuity.
The shibumi shade is an ingenious solution the the problem of finding shade on a windy beach. I haven’t found another like it. I’m assuming they have a patent. Good for them, it’s a great product. It’s expensive but you won’t find a better option for a Carolina beach. Mine came with anchors to hold it in place on days with insufficient wind, so I imagine I can use it on other types of beaches as well.
I did contact customer support and they were great.
Would not hesitate to recommend. It’s a great shade that travels super easy, sets up super easy, and won’t blow away in a 25mph wind. Genius product.
PS I shared my photo with their CS department and they recommended “rainbow, not train tunnel” for the arc of the poles.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:
5 retired women abandoned our Husband’s and go to the beach for a week. After the first day of setting up 5 umbrellas (and taking them down in evening) on the beach, I decided I needed this tent thingy. We set this thing up in 5 mins. It worked so well, we had to order 2 more so we could have the most Real Estate on the beach. What a life saver these are! We are now ready for the beach for years to come! Love this product!

3 yrs later - We still love it!
3 years later: we have loved every day at the beach with our Shibumi but recently the 2 corners that flap in the wind started fraying. Someone suggest we contact to he company so we did! And we were astounded by their reaction! They asked up to upload a picture. We did. They wrote us right back to say they would be happy to replace it with a lightly used one. We said that was fine. We received very quickly and wow - the upgrades are amazing!! The material felt less like a parachute and it slipped onto the rod without getting hung up in the middle where the back is since they updated the attached sandbag. What we didn’t expect is how quiet it is!!! We are so happy with the way they stood by their products that we ordered a set of extra tie downs for days with no wind or low and 2 of their new chairs! FIRST REVIEW We recently purchased this 4 lb Shibumi sun shade to replace our older commercial grade umbrella which weighed 12 lbs! We were skeptical at first especially since with its nearly $300 price tag, but if this isn't the best beach shade ever made! It's so light and small and gives great coverage (we use the large one for 2 but can get easily fit 4). It’s fast & easy to set up-possible for 1 person better with 2! Amazing & the blue colors and the way it shakes, shimmers and shines in the sun it looks like art. After seeing the one of the main characters in the Bullet Train movie reading a book called Shibumi. I read the book & Shibumi loosely translates tosomething like: effortless perfection & this sure is!

Beyond expectations
So light to carry and easy to set up. Used a couple of times and people come up asking about it because it looks great see how easy it is. Love that it makes enough shade to lay out and nap under. No umbrella does that! The only downside is when later in the day yesterday it got super windy and umbrellas were blowing all over the beach the Shibumi held firm easily but did get a little noisy whipping in the strong wind. Not an issue in lower wind, so that's why I gave it 4

Best beach tent ever
Shibumi Shade Mini® was the best purchase we have made for vacation in a long time. This simply concept shade worked great and was easy to set up and take down. No more days of renting umbrellas/chairs or hauling a heavy pop up tent only to have to chase down the mangled remains after the weights give way. The whole thing weighs less than 3 lbs and comes in a travel sleeve that doubles as the only sandbag weight needed to hold the frame forward. The canopy has no back anchor so the wind can not lift of flip it like an umbrella of tent. It just flows with the breeze. The canopy is so light that even the slightest breeze will allow it to flow. UV protection is great, we used it on an extreme UV day (11) and no burning. Sun screen was used but that was more for when we ventured out into the water. This model is a mini providing shade for two but we were able to fit three chairs under when needed. After three days on the beach the Shibumi paid for itself in rental fees saved.

Totally amazing
Absolutely perfect!!!!
I was a little worried that this wouldn't work for our needs, because we like to set up our umbrella in the shallow surf so we can sit in the water while being in the shade. It was perfect for this! Set up was a breeze (no pun intended). Taking it down is a little harder, but as long as you have several people to help it's easy.
It provides plenty of shade, while still allowing the breeze to keep you cool.

Best Shade in Town
This thing is fantastic! Light, durable, large enough to comfortably shade four or more adults either sitting on beach chairs or spread out on beach towels and blankets. We were in 15-20 mph prevailing SE winds off the Atlantic Ocean in Ft. Lauderdale and the Shibumi performed perfectly. Took less than 5 mins to set up and break down. It was like carrying a handkerchief in your back pocket it was so convenient. I’ve read some reviews about the free end flapping in the breeze as being too noisy. Well if you’re not upset with the flapping sound the American flag makes waving in the breeze, then you’re going to love this product. I’m just mad at myself for not patenting and marketing it!! BTW - we were the only Shibumi in sight and we chuckled at the straining efforts and longer times it took others to set up their tents, canopies, flys or umbrellas in the stiff breeze. If you love the beach and you want convenient shade anytime, anyplace, anywhere - and you don’t own a Shibumi - tsk tsk. 😎

Perfect solution for the Outer Banks beach trip
For years, we've visited the Outer Banks in NC and lugged along an E-Z Up tent for shade. Those tents are great but they're quite heavy and the wind/sand combination does a lot of damage to them and you'll only get a trip or two out of it.
Bought the Shibumi for this year's trip but also brought the E-Z Up as I didn't have faith it would work effectively. The Shibumi is super lightweight and turned out to be very easy to put up and put away. It stays aloft by wind power so it's fairly loud (think a kite rippling above your head all day) but it worked like a charm with the constant breeze you get on a barrier island. So much easier than dealing with the E-Z Up!
You need a constant wind and have to orient it in the direction the wind is coming from, so there may be other use cases where it won't work.... but in terms of hitting the Outer Banks, this thing is awesome and well worth the case. The E-Z Up stayed in the car the whole week and will stay home for future trips. I was so excited about how well it worked that I declared it the greatest invention of all time!
Saw lots of them on the beach in Ocracoke so I think word is getting around!
