Bast WiFi

I recently bought a Solis device, and the Wi-Fi connection is excellent—it’s a huge help with my delivery work. I also love that the battery lasts a long time.

Highly recommended for families and frequent travelers!

If you’re traveling internationally with kids, this is one of those things you don’t realize you need until you have it and then you never travel without it again.

We bought this for our first international trip, and it ended up being one of the most useful travel purchases we made. It was easy to use, packed well in our luggage, and gave us one less thing to worry about while traveling with the family.

What I really like is that it’s practical, reliable, and helps make travel a little less stressful. When you’re juggling passports, luggage, and keeping the kids happy, anything that simplifies the trip is a win.

We were so happy with it that we’re bringing it again on our upcoming trip to Japan, Korea, and the Philippines.

If you’re planning international travel and want something dependable that makes life easier, I’d definitely recommend giving this a try.

A bit heavy, so not pocket friendly.

An amazing device for traveling abroad. Mainly use it for MAPs while driving and doing a bit of work while on the beach where other WiFi networks can’t be reached. Battery never dips below 80% (charging while driving)

Funciona perfectamente

Don't pay for data throttling, local SIMs are better

I would not recommend the SIMO Hotspot.

I bought this because it seemed like a more convenient alternative to buying a local data SIM card while traveling. In theory, it sounded great: buy a data plan through the app, turn on the hotspot, and have internet without dealing with a local SIM card.

Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

I purchased an unlimited five-day plan in Asia through the app, and within only a few hours of use, the internet speed slowed down to a crawl. After checking the device, I realized the data was being deliberately throttled. This was not a guess either. The device clearly showed that throttling was happening on the screen.

At that point, the whole benefit of the product disappeared. If an “unlimited” plan becomes nearly unusable after a short amount of time, it is not really solving the travel internet problem.

In my opinion, you are better off buying a regular hotspot that takes a local SIM card. That way, you can buy a local data plan and get more consistent high-speed internet for the days you actually pay for. In many places, a local SIM card is cheaper or around the same price, but with much better and more reliable speeds.

I ended up buying another hotspot that takes a SIM card, and I wish I had done that from the beginning. I’m writing this review so other travelers do not waste their time or money making the same mistake.

Reliable

This is a great product. I opened it clipped it to my backpack and it has never left. I use this all the time and it is extremely reliable.

Good but needs a couple of adjustments

It does what it says..Get me wifi, easy to manage via the portal. But the only two issues i face are:

1. charger is usbc but must use theirs otherwise the place where you plug in the charger to in the device is hard to fit in any other usbc charger.

2. You can never tell how much battery it has , I wish they had a battery indicator that was clear to read or understand.

Solislite

The first WiFi I have when I went to the Philippines and I’m very satisfied with the performance. So bought another one which is the. 5G for me and give this Solislite for my wife. No problem with connectivity anywhere in the Philippines.

Great product!

Great product! I was struggling a lot with wifi connectivity on different places. This device help a lot. Now I can actually do my computer stuff on places where I don’t have access to a wifi connection.

Small But Mighty

I work remotely and need a reliable, and portable hotspot for travel. This compact 5G device has wireless connectivity and can power your laptop, iPad and phones, all at the same time! I was able to work and play while traveling through Europe this summer and stay connected. It’s a great value for the money, and provides peace of mind that you’ll have a private connection anywhere you need it. And, it can fit in your pocket it’s so small!

That’s the Wi-Fi connection will be very fast and very secure

That this item comes will package and secure very sturdy. I like it a lot thank you so much.

Perfect for me

It’s perfect for my 3D printing, I have a Bambulab A1, and I need to occasionally monitor a print or start a print remotely. It has 1GB per month of free data.

I also bought 20GB for $60 on Labor Day sale. It’s cheaper than a monthly subscription, because 20GB will last a very long time if I use it only for my 3D printing.

I also throw it in my bag if I travel, just as a backup. The 4g connection is stable and fast.

If you plan on heavy usage, and many devices connected, there are better options out there.

But it fits my situation perfectly.

I like how it uses the free 1GB/mo data before it uses the data you bought, so you don’t waste your free data by not using it.

I Saved So Much In WiFi Costs!

I was booked on a long cruise vacation where the ship's WiFi charges were astronomical. A friend suggested this device and it worked like a charm plus paid for itself before vacation was over. I'm not very high tech, but this was very easy to pair with my devices. Signal strength was strong. It worked in every port we visited and, surprisingly, it often worked at sea when we were cruising close to land. I used it mostly to check emails and access some websites. I did not use it for streaming. The Cruise Director confirmed that it was totally legal to use my Solis device on board because it had nothing to do with the ship's Starlink connection. In fact, he was planning to purchase one for himself! I will be taking this on every vacation going forward. There are a lot of plans to chose from, I went with unlimited monthly (good value) and renewed it once. You do need to remember to cancel when you get home. Highly recommend this to anyone who travels.

A Lifesaver When Other Options Fail

I got the Solis WiFi Lite with much hesitation, but I definitely needed something to tide me over until I had a more permanent WiFi setup. It has truly been a lifesaver—especially in those moments when my phone's hotspot isn't working or free WiFi just isn’t available. I'm so glad I went ahead with it. I use it regularly now and really depend on it!

Mediocre coverage and consistency

This is a handy tool but it is not consistent. It worked a bit in Houston & even less in Canada. It also takes an extremely long time to get started (think 5-6 minutes) which may not sound long but when you need your device to use for work, a meeting or to search for information—-that is a long time to wait.

My new “must have” for travel.

I purchased my Solis for our trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. It worked perfectly and was easy to connect to. So much easier than trying to configure an e-sim card! I purchased a matching carry case which makes it easy to throw in my backpack and not worry about it getting damaged or accidentally turned off. I’m looking forward to taking it to Scotland later this year. When I’m out and about I can throw it in my fanny pack for ease of carrying. I highly recommend it!

The one thing that I really like about this is that its reliable.

I bought the SIMO Lite because very bad Wi-Fi signals while traveling. It’s awesome, because I don’t lose Wi-Fi . It was so easy to set up and start using it. Battery life is very good and it’s easy to carry around with you. I love the case that came with it. I don’t worry if it’s dropped. The case is sturdy and tough. I can’t do without it now.

this device is a life saver

i have used this device countless times on the side of the road with no service to make work calls all the USA and Canada with amazing coverage. the app makes it easy to purchase data anytime and it is small and compact for travel. have been highly recommending to everyone i know. currently using in mexico during power outages and again, has been saving my life during work calls!!! don’t second guess this one.

Love my SOLIS Lite

I originally bought for camping use and travel to Mexico. Worked great.

Recently had a major move and ditched my AT&T internet service, since relatives have cable internet where i moved. Come to find out their internet was very slow and already maxed out with gaming use etc. i decided to use my SOLIS as my internet instead of theirs. Works fantastic

The only cons - if you travel a lot of Cruise lines are no longer allowing you to take these onboard. They do not work while at sea anyhow but when in port they work great! I had previously taken it on several cruises. May try to sneak it next time by saying it is battery charger pack

(Cruise lines want you to buy THEIR internet)

I like the no contract with this - very flexible

Small but mighty!

We purchased the Solis Lite while staying on my son’s farm. We were staying across the farm from his home (12 acres) and had no internet . We needed an option so I started researching all the different WiFi hotspot products available. The Solis Lite was the most affordable with the option of pausing when we were not using. It worked amazing and was so easy to set up too. I highly recommend this for people who travel and need a Mobil hotspot. 10/10!

$90 unlimited monthly data down the drain. Just stopped working.

I bought this just over a year ago, but it wasn’t used everyday. When not in use it wasn’t left on the charger. I know leaving things on the charger for long periods of time can do funky things to batteries. I used it in June and worked fine. Used it yesterday and it seemed fine. Go to use it today and it does this. I just renewed my unlimited monthly membership which is $89 just a couple of days ago. So guess that was a waste of money.

Connected everywhere in Italy…..

We used the Simo everywhere in Italy. From the mountains, to the ocean, connectivity wasn’t an issue. Knowing I could connect to work or just doing your typical personal stuff really gave that piece of mind! At times I had 6 devices connected. Slowed a bit, but what do you expect. I purchased the 20 day Pay as you go passes and worked flawlessly!

CarmenSanDiego

It works but…

It works and is sometimes stronger than home wifi when I have to log into my work VPN. However, I thought it was wireless once “charged”, but you have to keep it plugged in all the time.

Fantastic portable wifi for travel

I’ve loved having wifi wherever I travelled (Europe this trip) - particularly as the European eSim I had bought didn’t allow me to access the internet etc on my phone - but my Solis Lite saved the day. It was easy to set up and it always quickly finds a network to connect to. It fits into my small travel pouch, the orange colour makes it look great and its always easy to find. I love it! And the free 1GB of data per month for its lifetime is a fabulous bonus. I highly recommend the Solis Lite.

Worked flawlessly throughout Asia

Five family members took a cruise from Japan to Singapore with multiple stops in Korea, Hong Kong, and Vietnam - along with several days at Japan and Hong Kong Disneyland. Since my niece and I would split from the rest of the family in a couple cities, we took both a SIMO Solis Lite 4G LTE and 5G WiFi Mobile Hotspot with us.

After pulling in at a dock in the morning, we would enable a Daypass on the 5G and hang it from a suction cup on the porthole to see what we missed while we were at sea.

We usually ran the 4G when only my niece wanted to stream videos or when the family split up and the wife and her side of the family went onshore. As a photojournalist, I was writing on sea days and sending articles, including photos and videos, to my editor when we docked.

The 4G usually got a signal much faster than the 5G, and was able to hang on to it much better, which is still unexplained. Tip to the wise - sign up for the Solis email list and watch for Daypass sales.

Pays for itself in one trip

I can't say enough good things about this hotspot device! We decided to try it as a way to save money while traveling. Our cell phone plan's global pass was going to be $10 per day per line. We traveled throughout Eastern Australia for 2 weeks, and the wifi worked wonderfully! It was really fast and reliable. We kept our phones on airplane mode the entire time and used wifi calling. There was only one time when we didn't have service, but we were way out in the mountains, so we wouldn't have had service with our phones either. This was a great purchase!

Sweetshine

Will no longer connect to wi-fi

Have used probably 25-30 daypasses I’m estimating.

Very handy when it worked but now it just buzzes….so annoying.

Customer service chat refunded my last two wasted daypasses, which is great. But now my device doesn’t work and their only advice was to use a different charger.

App says device is fully charged. Customer support gave no other suggestions to remedy the issue.

Kinda bummed as I could really use it on my off grid property where my cell doesn’t get very good service.

Kinda steep price to buy another one as it doesn’t last very long.

Definitely worth the money

I was skeptical about the Solis, as I live in a tiny home in a fairly remote part of Texas, but I’ve had great luck with it and the internet speed has been phenomenal. I stream videos in the back ground while I work on my laptop. I have even taken it camping a few times and got service where I wouldn’t have otherwise. The first few times starting up were a bit slow, but now it connects within a minute or less and provides great service. I’d recommend it for anyone looking for a small, portable means of having Wi-Fi.

My Eyes Are Up Here!

Only connects to T-Mobile and AT&T so I paid for a worthless brick

Another UPDATE: Well I'm now 18 months into this purchase and the more time that passes, the more it frustrates me. We're in a broadband outage right now and decided to give this brick another chance and it didn't continue to disappoint. My blistering 0.47 download speed is barely enough to send an only-text email, and only with multiple timeouts and re-attempts. I don't know why they dumped the largest and fastest carrier in the country but really made their product and services useless to a lot of us.

UPDATE: The wifi mobile hotspot is a worthless brick. After I bought it and paid a bunch of money for non-refundable data packages, they dropped Verizon as a carrier they support. IT WILL ONLY CONNECT TO AT&T and T-MOBILE, NEITHER OF WHICH HAS USEABLE SERVICE IN MY AREA. And they never told their customers that this was coming, or that it happened! I only found out they bricked my device when our fiber internet went down. I thought... no problem! I bought this nifty device to get me through an outage such as this... NOT!

Don't waste your money on this bait-and-switch product. Maybe one of these two carriers work in your location now, but there is nothing stopping Solis from dropping them in the future too. Oh... and offering new buyers of their device "lifetime" free data (1 GB/month) right after I bought mine (I get no such deal) was kind of like them saying "Hey, we bricked this product you just bought, and now we're going to throw the brick at you. Don't let the door hit you on the way out." I guess the consolation is... I wouldn't be able to use the data anyway? Make no mistake, this company hates it's customers.
