Don’t buy! Poooootastic

Piece of Crap! The door lock always needs to be calibrated, sensors go out, battery on the wireless cameras only last 3-4 days with all the settings on low, customer service sends you a copy and paste troubleshooting steps that you can find in the app. The key pad doesn’t work if the smartlock needs to be calibrated. So if you forget your house keys and the smartlock needs to be calibrated, you will have to find another way into your house. Don’t buy!

Useless piece of poo

This is useless. Constantly malfunctioning sensors that stop working for no reason. When the sensors malfunction, the base station will start to loudly beep incessantly with no option to turn it off or dismiss the alert, you just have to delete the sensor, troubleshoot the malfunction right then and there (which takes a long time and there’s no real helpful instructions from SimpliSafe) or deal with the beeping. It will go off at 2am and it feels like you’re being tortured. Another Major security flaw is if the alarm goes off you can just dismiss it on the app without inputting your password or anything, so if someone breaks in and gets your phone they can just shut the alarm system off, no questions asked. This is the worst money I have ever spent, I would not recommend to anyone. Attached is a picture of your new reality if you buy this useless piece of crap.

Not safe

I have the 24/7 monitoring but no agent came online. After 5 minutes and the perps left, an agent viewee the camera. Nice! Secure! Safe! SimpliSafe!

Privacy Issue! Camera records you when you disarm the system!

EDIT: Rating upgraded to 4 stars for good technical support.

We were willing to install an indoor camera ONLY because their description states that the camera "...comes with a built-in stainless steel shutter for complete control over privacy. " That is not true! I disarmed the system (Home mode to Off) and saw in the app that the indoor camera recorded me at the keypad, then crossing the room. IT RECORDED ME WHILE THE SYSTEM WAS SUPPOSEDLY OFF, WHEN THE STAINLESS STEEL SHUTTER WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ENGAGED! The shutter is supposed to be Closed in Home mode and when it's Off.

I called their Tech Support and long story short, they said that their indoor camera will record when the user disarms the system, "Just to see who turned the system off." They said that "Only the user, not the monitoring service, can see those recordings." So they say. We didn't see any disclosures about that.

I did a low-tech update -- I now cover the camera with a plastic cannister while we're at home -- see the pictures. Just need to remember to remove it when we go out.

We decided to keep the system. It's the only user-installable system we found that had US-based tech support. And they're pretty good. Tech Support did send us a replacement window sensor when one of the sensors kept reporting "Low Battery" even after we replaced the battery.

By the way, if your router combines 2.4 and 5 GHz speeds on one network ID, you will need to change your network settings to separate those 2 speeds into two different network IDs and use the 2.4 GHz with the security system, or the camera won't be able to connect at all.

Also, if you want to install the SimpliSafe doorbell, make sure your transformer can supply 24VAC at 0.6 Amps (600 milliamps), which is the rating stamped on the back of the doorbell cam.

ExpensiveliSafe - Pay Monthly or it’s junk

The stars given for installation and support are generous when you consider how badly they limit (ie steal, reduce) the functionality of the product YOU PAID FOR if you ever stop paying for monitoring. Suddenly the app is worthless, no video capture at all so you’d have to watch it LIVE, you can’t even turn the system on or off, it’s just a dumb battery powered box ... You can get a better version of a dumb box for less $$ upfront and video cameras that record. So their fantastic radio ads are a sham and sadly they’re just as unAmerican as their competitors after all. Sure there is no contract but the system is BELOW AVERAGE unless you pay the MRC for the rest of your life. #SimpliSad #SimpliDisappointing
