Lower your expectations, and it might work a couple times.
Very cheaply made, but I shouldn't be surprised for $20. Don't expect this to last more than two shoots. The lettering and colored sticker (not print) on the sticks are already coming off before I even took it out of the packaging. The hardware is tiny and loose, and the magnets are crooked.
It gets two stars because technically, it functions. You can write & erase, it makes an appropriate click, and there are magnets in the sticks (until they inevitably fall out).

FRESH OUT THE BOX
The board came with scratch marks all over it and the letters were scuffed up

It looks nice, BUT
Iβll have to say it looks nice if youβre just trying to sit there and have something sitting in the corner, but when you examine it like I did after I first got it on the top part of the clapper. There is a small crack running along the top. Which is not cool. I would have to say really not worth it.
Can't wait to start filmmaking projects with this beautiful film slate π¬
It feels more professional, more detail-oriented, and the color pallet will definitely be helpful in post. I also added a few improvements, but all in all I'm happy to get this slate clapping on a film set.

Directors Movie Clapper
I bought this for my 6 and 8 y/o girls. There are 3 screw nuts which holds the board in place. Two days, I picked up the board and realized that the back of one of the screw nuts was missing. So far, we cant find it. So now, when we clap the board, the screw is there but not the nut to hold it together. I had to take a pair of pliers and tighten the other 2 nuts so that it wont loosen and fall off. It's a pretty decent product otherwise.
