Not Compatible!

I haven't even used this thing yet, and I'm ready to throw it out the window. The stinking software will NOT install on my very modern, Windows 11 desktop: error 1395, generic error. I've jumped through hoops repairing and installing Microsoft Visual C++ files for various years, and on and on and... It will not work. I can use it without the software, but that's not the principle. Nothing on Sony's website, nothing on the internet. It's not compatible with Windows 11.

It is not in the original packaging

I thought this was brand new. It was not in the original package. Disappointed. If it works, I will change my rating.

Was used.

Product packaging was opened and taped shut before being delivered. Has crumbs in side packing and sticky on back side. Was supposed to be new.

Seth's thoughts on his voice recorder.

I like the playback speed. I didn't like the loud noises on speaker, it was as if it was about to blow.

Issue with battery

Hi, I have had this sony recorder for awhile, but the life of me I have replaced batteries 3 times and still shows low battery and turns off. Does anyone have suggestions on this recorder? Worked great until battery got low, now I can’t even get a full charge. What to do? Thank you

Super useful

It came in handy for my 3 day convention. There was so much info I couldn’t right it all. Now I can go home and listen to this and really study what I learned. Super simple to use. It came with batteries. I recorded all 3 days with full battery life and plenty of storage to record 3 days more by the end of it.

SONY RULES!

This is a great recorder. I use it to dictate with as a writer. The sound quality is excellent! The coolest feature is the built-in USB plug which makes it so easy to use with my laptop. The size is perfect and the screen is very readable in all light conditions.

I highly recommend this SONY!

High Quality

Easy to use and Excellent Sound Quality

Good

Easy to follow instructions. Bought this for my aunt and I think this one is definitely worth the money.

Very simple

I using this product for my classes is very helpful

Great for college

Nice size. Not too big or small. Takes triple A batteries (two, which were included). Love that it has a USB port on it and that it’s able to be hidden. Perfect for school lectures, and I sit in the very back. (It’s so good I often can hear myself breathing... which is awful... but at least it works great).

Display defective after 3 months

The recorder worked alright. But after 3 months the lower half of the display "went bad"....well, only about half the pixels worked, making it nearly impossible to figure out what's being communicated. I'll try to see if Sony will honor their 1-yr warranty...

I regret buying this voice recorder

I was hoping to improve my Video Tutorials, so I bought this digital recorder which is supposed to improve my Voice Recording by eliminating noise. Upon testing, it has no form of Noise Cancellation. ONLY Noise FILTERS. Which doesn't work either.

Check my VIDEO REVIEW. First part showing how I recorded the audio, Second is listening to the Recorded Audio Samples (recording from mobile phone versus recording from Sony Digital Recorder).

I TESTED ALL MODES, Voice Memo is the best option with Range set to Lowest (it will pick up more noise if you set Range to Far), I also turned on NCF(Noise Cut) or LCF(Low Cut) noise filters, but even with all these settings turned on, you will still need an editing tool to remove the noise afterwards..

The noise in my room is even louder from this recorder compared to how the noise actually sounds in real life. Noise was coming from an Electric Fan.. not the wind from the fan, but a humm from a Fan Blades.. yes this thing picks it up from 7 feet away. So this device is VERY SENSITIVE which is good. If you are in a sound proof room without any type of Air Conditioning. Else this thing will pick up noise no matter what.

Sony made a Cheap alternative but isn't anywhere near close to their expensive Recorders quality. I compared this to my cheap 60 Dollar Mobile Phone (Xiaomi Redmi 5A) and that thing cancels out noise completely. AS YOU CAN SEE in my VIDEO REVIEW.

Go buy a mobile phone instead of wasting money on this one. The sound quality is better and way more convenient (easier to handle / send / transfer files). There's no benefit at all in using / buying this Sony Recorder.

Meh... It’s okay

It is as advertised but my remote control uses better quality plastic. I feel like I could easily crush it with my bare hands in a fit of rage. So as long as you don’t drop it or splash water on it or leave it in a vehicle on a hot day or take it into a steam room you should be fine... the audio quality is what you’d expect, good not great. I like the simplicity, long battery life and user interface. Purchased this under list price but I’d be embarrassed to tell someone what I paid for it. $25-$30 would be fair value for this product in my opinion.
