This is a truly beautiful book

I had seen this on a few booklists but didn’t know too much about it - so glad I listened to recommendations and bought it! My two year old LOVES being read to and this quickly became one of his most requested books. The bonus is that it is so enjoyable to read for me as well! Beautiful artwork and a sweet, well researched story, with a whole back inside cover full of the author’s research so we can understand where she got the difference elements from. I especially loved the baby being born in the lighthouse (toddler always squeals with joy when we get to the baby) and the sweet twist to the ending. Will definitely be looking into more books by Sophie Blackall after this!

Such a Delight!

If I could take a picture of every page, I would! It is just absolutely breathtaking! I love the illustrations and the story! It’s thick pages add to the coziness of the book.

I am currently a student in school to be an elementary education teacher. I have assignments on creating lesson plans and I have to add literature in. I am SO glad I purchased! This will definitely be a read aloud in my future classroom!

Historical significance of lighthouses with beautiful illustrations and simple words!!!

I purchased this book for a theme table display for the month of June. This book 📚 has beautiful illustrations with vivid colors. The story is simple in presenting the historical importance of guarded lighthouses and how they became obsolete. There is a feeling of sorrow when the Coast Guard installs a permanent light, a bittersweet story for sure. I hope someday my 2.5yr old will share the same sentiment as I: “change is not always easy, but can bring about good.” Just think no more isolation out on that tiny rocky island.

it’s SO PRETTY

Ordered this so my kids could gift it to their lighthouse-obsessed mamaw, who loves to read to them for Christmas. Just opened it & although it was sort of sloppily packed (tossed into a box with a few other items I ordered. it slid around a lot, causing the sticker on the front to peel a little) I am OBSESSED with it, the story is cute, the artwork is AMAZING, & it’s definitely put together very well. Even the pages feel sturdy. I would have never looked at it had I not been shopping for a lighthouse enthusiast but its so aesthetically pleasing I’m considering ordering another one for my house 😂

Timeless beauty

At first, I was slightly underwhelmed by the amount of text in the story. However, my intuitive 6 yr old Grandson absolutely loved this book and would not put it down, reading it to me over and over. I fell in love with the simple, and nostalgic telling of "Hello Lighthouse"! The pages are BEAUTIFUL! Everytime I hear/read this story, it takes me out to that lighthouse life more and more. I love the author's commentary inside the cover also. It is now one of my FAVORITE books, a keepsake that everyone would love to read! Great book!

Secret Page Every Child Will Love!

Hello Lighthouse by Sophie Blackall: well researched, historically sound, dimensions of book 📚 suited to book's theme (well thought out), engaging story, secret page every child will absolutely love. A suggestion : Keep it on the 'special shelf' to share with your child often. Later, they may be able to share it with their children. It's that special! The author also wrote New York Times Best Seller and was 2016 Caldecott Winner for Finding Winnie.
