I just got this tape measure and on the first retract the tape got bent very poor quality not a high quality tape measure very disappointed because it’s heavy as in weight but it’s not a heavy duty one
paul Ross
I like the product I feel it has great potential however I only used it ones when I noticed a bend slightly near the 6 to 7 inches mark where it’s critical cause whenever I got to extend it pass 5 feet it curls up and fall I would really like for mine to be replaced think it’s worth it but again it’s frustrating when I literally just got it and now what I’m assuming I have to go thru the motion of tryna send it back to get it replaced. How my schedule set up that’s gon be tough but I’m hoping for a response on how we can get this resolved

I bought the Spec Ops tools Elite Tape Measure. It follows the line of tools that I really like because they are heavy duty and incredibly well made. It is the heaviest tape measure I have! It is built like a tank! Very heavy duty and a good wide tape measure and has a magnetic base. I have other tape measures, but this is my go to one. I have others that are just too flimsy. I really like that it color matches the other Spec Ops tools that I own. Having a larger/wider tape with bigger numbers helps when I’m not wearing my glasses too, which helps making it accurate.

This tape is very strong and sturdy, it will last for a very long time. Good quality value for your money. Very good size

The worst tape measure I've ever used. I got a few uses out of it before it snapped. This tape measure is fine if you want to measure something under 10' after that...good luck. It is way too thin to measure more than that. $35 for this thing? Don't do it. They should be ashamed trying to put veteran anything on this. As a vet I'm pissed at the crap
Tessa
Don’t waste your time, magnet broke off the tip immediately after taking it out of the package.
bree
I’m pretty hard on tape measures but I am little sad that this only only lasted 4-5 months before the tape ripped.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:
recieved this tape today and it’s already broke not ever 8 hours into my shift at work very disappointed considering I paid $50 bucks for it

Muy bueno solo que me salió algo rallado por la parte de abajo 😢

Awesome tape measures. I love that it’s double-sided and built to last.

Este producto viene dañado dice usado como nuevo pero ya viene dañado 👎

This happened today from simply drawing it out to measure.... Purchased December 30th after the previous one had a different issue, I thought maybe something I did on the first one so I reordered because it seems to be well built. I use this everyday at work and it is in fact, already falling apart. And alas return policy is 30 days, I cannot be expected to order a new tape measure every two months.

do not buy does not hold up after a month of moderate use.

Money well spent. Quality in all aspects of design.
The manufacturer logo looks outstanding.
Hash markers are defined and easy to read.
Has some weight to it giving it a durable feel.
This is easily apart of the everyday essentials bag.
Jeremiah
I’ve had it for a little over a week now and put it against some metal and the magnet just fell apart.
Michael
It took less than a minute for the magnet to break off. Didn’t drop the Tape, just snapped the tape back and it broke right off.

Tape measure started getting stuck ball bearings inside or not working well last time using went to pull out, tape measure and broken half at 8 inches
Jorge Alegria
The tape's quality is disappointingly fragile and the magnet's strength falls short of my expectations, making it unsuitable for my profession. Definitely not worth the price I paid.

I know I’m not gentle but I was pretty nice too this tape measure cause I mess them up quick but I have only had it 15 days and probably only used my tape 6 days and the blade is already starting to warp it’s not a good tape for me
Rodney Bryan
I started using this 8 months ago at a new QC job. This tape gets used all day 5-6 days a week. It’s been very good for the abuse I put it though. It has finally started to wear out. I do long extended measurements. And now it will extend to about 10’. But over all has worked great.
Alexander Lowry
Very bulky, but seemed heavy duty and liked it well enough. Issue is that the tape tore during normal use, after a very short time of actually using it.
Tatiana Quilca
Its weight is better than other brands. It has good balance and feels strong.

The Spec Ops Tools 25-Foot Elite Series Magnetic Tape Measure (SAE scale) is sure to become your "go to" measuring tool once you discover how easy to use, easy to read, and versatile it is compared to other comparable tape measures. Obtaining accurate measurements is vital to many projects and the adage "measure twice, cut once" is a good rule of thumb. The Spec Ops Tools 25-Foot Elite Series Magnetic Tape Measure does everything it can possibly do to help you get accurate measurements and make fewer mistakes, whether you measure once or twice.
The large, high contrast, and easy-to-read divisions on the tape blade are easy to see from further distances. (See last photo taken 30 inches from the tape measure in comparison to my old "go-to" tape measure.) The addition of common incremental measurements, such as ⅛, ¼, and ½ inch, on the lower portion of the tape blade mean that you are doing less manual and error prone counting of 1/16" tick marks to obtain accurate and repeatable measurements.
A summary of my impressions are given below.
Pros:
1) The blade is stiff and sturdy and retracts without any binding or friction. I found that I my old tape measure could only be extended with no additional support in air to approximately 5 ft before it would buckle. The Spec Ops Tools 25-Foot Elite Series Magnetic Tape Measure could be extended to beyond 10 ft without buckling under the same conditions. This comes in handy if you are measuring openings, wall heights, or determining clearances between or around fixtures, furniture, machinery, or other static objects.
2) The reverse side of the blade is oriented vertically which lends itself to more comfortable measurements for certain scenarios.
3) The neodymium magnet comes in very handy if you are laying out metal fence posts, rebar, or any magnetic objects where your critical spacing is based on the inside to inside dimensions. In these scenarios you can obtain accurate measurements without the need of an assistant to hold or anchor the end of the tape. I used the magnetic anchor feature to measure the distance between metal storage racks. This feature will be especially handy if you are working on metal fabrication or erecting metal structures, for example. For wood and lumber projects the magnetic anchor does not add anything but it does not interfere with the operation of the tape measure in any way. It's small and unobtrusive.
4) As a military veteran, knowing that a portion of all sales go to support military veterans and first responders is much appreciated. The fact that the product delivers on its promise for working men and women makes this gesture all the more meaningful.
Cons:
1) The Spec Ops Tools 25-Foot Elite Series Magnetic Tape Measure is quite a bit larger and heavier than some traditional and lower function tape measures. The added weight is certainly the result of its rugged and robust design and construction as well as the use of high quality materials. But you will certainly notice the additional weight in your toolbox and even more so if you use the attached belt clip to hang this from your toolbelt or waistband.
2) The strong magnetic anchor can attract small magnetic items like screws, nuts, and washers, not to mention metal grinding particles, shavings and shards that could potentially interfere with your measurements. However, the placement of the magnet ensures that these things cannot be ingested into the interior of the tape measure. Be careful to ensure there is no magnetic debris on the magnet before making your measurements that use the magnetic anchor feature.

This tape measure is expensive, but it's probably the highest quality tape measure I've ever used.
The construction is very sturdy and it has some nice features. The tape itself is sturdy too, and it stays rigid while extending much farther than cheaper tape measures. The tape is labeled down to the 1/8" scale, which is a helpful feature. The printing at the start of the tape is also protected since that printing area tends to wear off from frequent touching.
I would say that I would buy this again, but it will probably last forever. I would look to this brand for other tools as well, based on this experience.

A really well-made tape measure! Comparing this to my older FatMax results in this product being a clear winner. It's ruggedly built with two orientations for easing reading. The end has a fairly strong magnet which might come in handy on occasion. The locking mechanism is smoother and clamps tighter than my older TM. I was able to extend the tape for 11.5 ft before gravity had its way and the tape collapsed.
I highly recommend this tape measure!

Wow !
As tape measures go, this one is absolutely on another level of quality.
It is a beast.
Seriously, it really is that impressive.
It’s big, it’s well made and it has the most visible markings I’ve seen on any tape measure.
Plus it has them on both sides of the tape !
Unfortunately, It’s also the most expensive tape measure I’ve encountered.
The price is not for the faint of heart.
Time will tell if it’s worth that extra cost but so far I’m favorably impressed with what I’m seeing and my other tapes are taking a back seat to this one.
I’m having fun using it because the tape is so physically impressive and it feels substantial in my hands.
The return spring has plenty of power too and it drives the tape all the way back into the housing with authority.
There’s nothing anemic about this measuring tape.
Except for the high price, I like everything about this tape and give it high marks.

This review was informed by an HVAC technician, who says:
- The clip is great
- holds up to the 12-foot promise of no tape bending!!!!
- increments are clearly visible
- has good grip
- lifetime warranty
- magnet is convenient
Cons
- it’s kind of heavy
- It would be nice to have a hold-blade button to hold the tape rather than locking it.

This is among the most expensive tape measures I’ve seen, but it has features to match.
It’s available in 25 and 35 foot lengths, with a 1/16” scale.
The most unique feature is that it has a scale printed on both sides of the tape, making it really easy to get accurate measurements in awkward places. Another useful feature is that the tip of the tape is magnetic, making inside measurements of steel items easy and more accurate.
It remains rigid for a very long reach, really convenient for long inside measurements. I was able to extend at least 11 feet before it “broke,” and more of I supported it with the other hand.
The first 6”of the tape… the part most prone to have the scale wear off… has an extra plastic coating to protect the printing.
The tape is very wide at 1 1/4“, which could be an issue when trying to do fine work, but that’s not what this tape is made for.
In addition to the standard belt clip, this tape has slot at the back to accommodate a lanyard or safety strap, important when working at heights.
The case offers lots of protection and spools easily. I have no doubt that the video in the listing showing it being dropped without breaking is accurate.
Conclusion: If you need an extra heavy duty tape measure and use it a lot, it is worth the price. 5 stars.
