This thing is awesome!

This thing is sweet!

The amp and cab modeling is pretty good when you make custom channels. There are 99 presets and a handful of them sound nice out the box.

Battery life is good and being usb-c is awesome. On a full charge, I can get through a full day of teaching and more.

This can be used as an Audio Interface as well as some other Bluetooth and App features.

There's a 40s looper and like 100 drum loops, tuner and so much more. You can move around the effects in your chain, everything.

Im stoked to plug this into my pc and try this out with my daw and stream. Just dont use this on the road as a main pedal.

Nice entry pedal at the price point

I have milk crates of pedals. I bought this because more and more pedals are USB powered. I didn't want to spend a bunch on a pedal that relied on USB. This pedal doesn't do anything my crated collection cannot do. However, if you are just starting out, this pedal is really nice at the price point. The battery did not last anywhere near the advertised claim, but I just left it connected to the USB. I'd recommend this to anyone on a budget, at an entry level.

Absolute Fire! All effects are amazing. Get it, you won’t regret it.

Use it with my Donner P bass. This pedal is absolute fire! Make sure you get a stereo cable for the foot pedal, otherwise you won’t be able to switch back and forth between effects.

Pocket-sized power for guitar and bass

This multi-effects processor is surprisingly robust for its size. The first thing you notice is the build quality; it doesn't feel like a cheap plastic toy, but rather a solid piece of gear capable of handling daily use. The physical controls are intuitive: the two top knobs are responsive for volume and menu navigation, while the bottom buttons have a satisfyingly firm click.

The color screen is small but sharp, making it easy to edit "Pipe Tones" without guessing which parameter you're on. Testing it with both guitar and bass, the versatility of running 10 effect modules simultaneously offers a lot of creative room, particularly for genres requiring dense textures. The response from the modeled amps feels natural, lacking the annoying latency often found in budget processors. On the practical side, having a dedicated headphone jack and USB-C for direct recording really speeds up home practice and quick PC tracking. Navigating through 125 effects might take a minute to master, but once your presets are dialed in, the workflow is very smooth.

Strich Pipetones enhances my flute sounds.

Delay & reverb enhance the sounds of my Native American Style flutes. But my Boss VE5 was stolen & I couldn’t afford another.

AI suggested that the Sonicake Pocketmaster would work . . . it didn’t.

The Strich Pipetones arrived today, easy to use and enhances the sounds well.

Fisher price pedal is very good

This little thing is solid. I used it to record music and for a live tone for a little travel rig. Love it

Not the best for Bass players

I tried this out only with Bass guitar. It is listed as being for both guitar and Bass players. I’ve seen lots of YouTube videos showing how good it was for guitar, and I was impressed, but not any videos for Bass players. Out of the 100 presets, there are only 9 for the Bass. I tried them all and was totally unimpressed. Most of the sounds are easily achievable just by tweaking the settings on any Bass amp. A couple were really not good, or at least they didn’t work for me. In particular, the distortion Bass sound was almost unusable for me. I am using EMG Geezer Butler pickups on my Bass. When using the distortion effect, there was nothing on the low volume settings and then suddenly it came thundering on as I turned the volume knob. This was evident on several of the other settings. It didn’t work smoothly at all, but was rather uncontrollable. You may get different results with different pickups, as EMG Geezer Butler pickups are considered “hot” pickups, but I have had no problems with other effects boxes, or amps.

As far as build quality goes, the unit is plastic cased, and made to stay off the floor and be operated with your fingers. There is a two button footswitch in the model I received that is in a strong metal enclosure and works well to switch between presets, but it is really quite small and would move around a lot and be hard to trigger if just placed on the floor. Because of the small size, I’m guessing it might be intended to be put on a pedalboard, but then why pack the processor with all those effects and eliminate the need for any other pedals?

The function is standard for this size device these days. You have to learn a lot of different push button and knob turning sequences, but at least the display is bright and legible, although as I said before you have to keep it up on top of something to see it and operate the switches because the display is small.

There are a ton of effects packed into this little unit, so if you were looking for something to practice with and use headphones, or even put through a non-modeling amp, it would definitely do the job. For this many effects and the sound quality I’m hearing guitar players get out of it (on videos) I think it would be a good value for them since the amount of effects, plus drums, plus a looper is amazing for around $75. But if you’re strictly a bass player, you could pass on this and not be missing anything.

Great value, high quality, works nicely

Easy to use, sounds great, super great value. If you want fun, easy tones and don't want to buy expansive products, all you need is something to amplify your sound and this will do the rest. Love it.

Cool new versatile modeler

Very cool modeler! Very easy to use! My favorite option is you can use NAM profiles with IRs which I’ve been waiting for on modelers. Sounds great and very easy to use!

Great Pocket Sized Effects Processor, A Lot of Gear in a Tiny Package!

I picked up the Strich Pipe Tones to use with headphones and a guitar I keep in my bedroom for late night jams when I don't feel like trudging upstairs to deal with my main setup. It works great for that, though I can see how others would be just as satisfied using it as their primary effects unit.

The unit itself is heavy and feels well made. The knobs turn smoothly with satisfying detents on the selection knob. The screen is bright, clear, and easy to read. The interface is dead simple, and I figured out how to use pretty much all the features without having to consult the manual.

The factory presets are diverse and well done. It's fun just to scroll through and let each one inspire the jam session. I haven't had much need to get into creating new presets yet because of the wide variety already there. I like that they went heavy (no pun intended) on the heavier metal and rock presets. I feel like a lot of multi-FX manufacturers skimp on that genre when it comes to their factory presets. Some of the clean presets on this thing are breathtaking, crystal clear with a wide range and sparkling reverb. I also really love how easy the tuning mode is to access and how well it works.

The whole concept of neural amps is absolutely blowing my mind. Somehow I missed the memo on this technology, and stumbling upon it while playing with the Pipe Tones was a wonderful surprise that's going to entertain me for a while.

It also connects to my phone (Android) for Bluetooth audio, so I can play backing tracks that mix through the headphones alongside the Pipe Tones output. Quick tip on that: when you go to pair it in Android, you'll see two devices called "JME Stompbox," one with a bluetooth logo and one with a speaker. Use the one with the speaker. If you have trouble connecting, download the app from the Strich website and connect with that first, then it seems to work. One gripe is that you have to download the APK for Android directly and install it from the file manager since it's not on the Play store. Not a big deal if you know how to do that, but probably an obstacle for some people.

I'm loving the drum machine as well. There's a load of patterns and styles, so there's plenty to choose from and play around with. I do wish there was an occasional fill or something, but that's probably an unreasonable expectation for this type of setup. The looper works great as well, in fact better than the dedicated loop pedal that I have on my pedal board.

One quick tip: I was initially annoyed with what I thought was latency on some presets but quickly realized that most presets with gain have a noise gate early in the signal chain turned up too high. Turn the threshold down to 7 or so and it feels much better.

The aesthetics are not my cup of tea. I wish there was a version that was a little more "conventional" looking, but this is a pretty minor gripe.

I have a Fender Tone Master Pro setup for my main rig, and it cost something like $1,500. You could buy 18 of these for the same price, and honestly there wouldn't be much difference in terms of what it can do and what it sounds like. This is an absolute steal for the price, a full setup for roughly the price of one traditional effects pedal.

Impressive Multi-effects processor in a small size

This small pedal is so more than just adequate. It has its own power supply, from a re-chargeable battery than is enclosed. This is quickly becoming my go to pedal, The sounds are amazing, 100 different tones for guitar and bass that are very good. It is easy to operate the controls and use the pedal for next or back. Plus it has a tuner that is easy to use. Also the best, user friendly drum machine and a looper, which can be operated with the foot controls. The variety of effects from dreamy guitar to John Mayer tones and metal are incredible. Noise gate, delay, reverb, over drive and modulation effects can all be adjusted. Amp cabinets can be switched, all in this tiny pedal. Even though it's small, the 2 inch TFT display is easy to read. Can also be used with an expression pedal and connected directly in to your computer for recording. You can't go wrong with this pedal.

This thing is impressive for the price point and fun regardless if you’re a Pro or a Beginner.

I’ve been playing around with this pocket amp processor for the last month or so and I have mixed feelings about it. I have several of these pocket-sized amp processors and the Pipe Tones definitely has some really good qualities when comparing them to similar products.

The modeling of the amps included is good. It’s not a bunch of “captures” of amps loaded onto a pedal. You can actually make adjustments to the EQ and it behaves similarly to how the amps would. The effects are also really well modeled and the time based effects in particular are very usable. Probably the best and most impressive part of it is the Cabinet IR section. You can actually swap microphone types and positions in the cabinets in the software. At this price point that’s almost unheard of. The app is also very easy to use and it connects reliably.

The areas that need work on this pedal are connectivity. The headphone/output jack unfortunately only works in mono or with a guitar cable if plugged into an FRFR, mixer or audio interface. I’ve tried to plug TRS to split the stereo signal into two inputs on my mixer and it doesn’t work. You lose the signal of the amp and most of the presets simply won’t have a signal. With headphones this isn’t a problem, and in theory, using a good quality TRS Y-splitter with balanced cables shouldn’t affect the signal but it does. This isn’t a huge deal if you don’t record in stereo, but it’s something you should be aware of. The TRS input for a foot switch only works to page through presets. You can’t use it to control the onboard looper which is really disappointing. There’s also no midi support like I’ve seen on competing products.

You can load NAM captures onto this device. I’ve captured my vintage Marshall and loaded it onto this device and uploaded my own IR’s. There’s a pretty significant drop in sound quality of uploaded NAM captures when loaded onto the device compared to the quality of using them in a plug in or on other devices I own. It’s acceptable for practice but I wouldn’t say the quality is good enough to use for recording purposes. Same with user loaded IR’s. You can upload direct captures and run a separate cab though or use them the modeled cabinets which is something a competing product doesn’t do.

Overall for the price, the size, the quality of the modeling and the solid accompanying app, this thing is priced extremely well and offers a lot of value for both pros and beginners. It’s easy to get a great sound right away and the display being a bit larger makes navigating it even without the app reasonably fast. I personally love the vintage toy aesthetic and branding of the product too. I’ve owned a number of products produced by this brand and I think this is one of the best products they’ve released. I’ve recommended them to several of my guitar player friends because it’s just really a very fun little device to have around.

Practical, versatile, intuitive, and so much fun to use. Very well made.

I’m really enjoying this multi-effects processor for my electric guitar. It has oodles of presets and drum patterns. I think it’s around 100 or so of each. Everything is adjustable to your preferences, too. It’s versatile and portable since it’s rechargeable, and the battery lasts a very long time. I’ve only had to charge it once, and I’ve used it daily since getting it.

Before any session comes the tuning. I normally use a headstock tuner or an app on my phone. However, the tuner on this device is very nice. It’s much better than either of the aforementioned options. And it’s large and easy on my 49-year-old eyes.

Selecting effects and modifying tones is extremely easy. There are very few physical bells and whistles to have to learn on the device, making me much more likely to actually use it.

You can easily record via the ports on the back. This works with both mobile or on a computer. I haven’t actually used this feature very much because I doubt anyone would want to hear my beginner noises, but it’s easy to do.

The foot switch is nice to have, but I don’t use it much. It feels very nicely made and sturdy, and it’s easy to use. I just don’t find it necessary in my personal setup. It works well, though, and I can see why others would want it.

This device does so much for such a tiny little box that I doubt I will ever use all of the different combinations possible. I’ll enjoy trying, though. The device and foot switch are both very well made, easy to use, and work well. It’s also very intuitive as I never even needed the instructions. The current price of $75.99 is a great value since you can do so much with this set. I’m very happy with the Strich Pipe Tones Multi-effects Processor and recommend it.

Phenomenal

I could have easily made a product review video of an hour or more. There is a LOT to cover in this pedal. So, key points.

Ease of use: As a testament to good design, I pretty much had this figured out in about 5 minutes without consulting the manual. But after consulting the manual, I did discover more features.

Sound quality: I'm still amazed at what is being accomplished in such tiny boxes. For the video I uploaded, I used a Dano U2 and ran the pedal straight to the mixing desk through a DI, no amp, so you can somewhat hear the raw feed (minus whatever compression and post-processing is done after upload).

Size: I was a little surprised by the footprint. It's almost as small as all the stomp pedals we had in the '90s. I've had entire pedal boards that take up half my stage plot that didn't do half as much as this little guy. This replaces absolute loads of equipment.

Functionality: If you get the foot pedal add-on or an expression pedal, you can (after a little exploration) cycle through quite the array of functions with just your feet. Also, the output is stereo, so if you're into that, the option is available. Beyond that, I think most of its features are listed on the page.

Quality: Everything seems very well-built. The processor *can* be used as a stomp box but maybe is more intended for using your hands. The rubber buttons are pretty durable, but they certainly aren't steel-toed-boots-worthy. I would suggest using the actual stomp box for most of the stomping and save the processor's on-board buttons for starting/stopping the loop (or other functions when you need your hands). But even on the floor, I'm pretty sure it will take quite a bit of abuse.

Value for the money: For the price point, this is easily worth it. Even if the sound quality isn't *quite* what you want, it's a great pedal for rehearsing (when you don't want to schlep a bunch of gear), practicing, as a backup at gigs, or just plain having fun. It really is a blast to tinker with. And if you consider what it would cost to get the absolute least expensive version of all the "pedals" that are inside this thing, plus the patch cables, plus the power supplies, plus the pedal board(s) to accommodate it all, this is a no-brainer.

And I really like the look.

Sounds really good!

It's really amazing how far affordable effects have come in the past 15 years or so. This pedal looks like a toy with this paint job, but it is decidedly not. It sounds really, really good, and costs as much as just a singular traditional pedal. It has tons of functionality as well, and has enough effects slots to replace a full pedalboard. The metal amps sound great, there are plenty of effects options, and I noticed that even a "shimmer" effect similar to my Keeley Caverns is in there.

It's pretty easy to use, and this particular pack I got included a remote stomp switch. It acts just like the red buttons on the unit itself. However, the remote switch is metal and a lot more sturdy for stepping on. That said, the Pipe Tones pedal itself is pretty solid, and though plastic, feels sturdier than those cheap Behringer stompboxes, which are also sturdier than one would think.

I'm going to be using this on my "go-board" pedalboard, for times when I don't want to lug around my full sized board. The onboard battery is great for this too, and lasts through play sessions easily.

My one complaint is that this doesn't include a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter or a 1/8" headphone jack. I thankfully have some lying around, but considering how this is clearly designed for portability, it's a strange choice not to cover that base.

5* Awesome super portable guitar multi effect kit, maybe skip the external footswitch version?

I love this thing: it's very similar to the valetron gp5 or the sonic cake pocket master, if you play a electric guitar or bass you need to try one of these devices ASAP. They offer so much fun to mess around with but they are surprisingly powerful. If you already have one of the other devices I don't know that this is worth upgrading to from the competition, but this might be the best $60 portable multi effect available yet.

I like the tone quality: There's 30 digital amp models built in to the pipe tone (with 25 guitar, 5 bass). They sound pretty good listening through headphones. You can also load up third-party IR files in one of the 10 slots for enhanced sound simulation.

I love the effect versatility: The unit allows you to use up to 10 simultaneous effects including noise gate, overdrive or distortion, amp, cab sim, equalizer, modulation, delay, reverb, looper, and drum machine. The effects are not Strymon level but i think you could play a little gig with them they are good enough for that kind of thing and plenty for practicing. These options are enough to get your creative juices flowing and with time and experimentation you can make your patch and sound your own.

I love the performance: Many of the presets are quite good for my style, overdrive clean sound with some modulation. I can't be a good judge of the high-gain sounds but they seem like they would be satisfactory for the shredders out there. It is easy to navigate this device with the buttons on the front or with the app. The screen is bright and clear and the app was responsive on my Samsung S24.

I didn't love the dual footswitch: I found this footswitch expression pedal interaction kind of disappointing. Physically it works fine, includes a TRS cable which is pretty decent length and seems to be decent quality. But I wanted to do more than simply move from one preset to the next with the foot switch. I wanted to be able to turn a particular effect or a group of effects in the preset on and off with the footswitch. I guess you could set up a drive preset and a rhythm preset next to each other and use the footswitch to move between them (or set up any grouping of multi effects to switch between) . But currently the uses of the footswitch seem limited in its current state.

I love the portability: The device is small and lightweight, weighing around 9 oz and being around the size of a oversized pack of cards, making it easy to throw in a bag and go. Heck you could keep it as a backup to your main rig in your guitar bag (or your pocket) it's that small. It's really great for practicing, with the built in looper you can jam over your own tracks with ease. A built in rechargeable battery provides up to 4 hours of battery life, which seems accurate during my testing i experienced 3 to 4 hours of play time between charges.

Things i didn't love: I think that the volume output of this device needs a little bump up, maybe something they can do in a firmware update. I needed to boost it up about 10 db in the main settings to compensate for the perceived low volume (compared to my experience with the competitions devices).

I also like the connectivity: you can also use this as an interface to your computer! I haven't tested this yet but it's just amazing what they built in to this device here. Bluetooth worked great for connecting to my phone and allowed playing back music to practice over and controlling the effects in the Pipe Tones.

Final Verdict: 5* Well worth it, especially if you haven't tried similar devices yet. But I would probably skip the external footswitch bundle of this model and recommend you go for the Stritch Pipe Tone stand alone version at least until the footswitch functionality gets improved in future updates.

Nicky's Picks

Pretty cool

Very cool, worth the money. Plug and play, easy to set up and use. The A, B switch is handy even though it does the very same thing the pedal does. The screen is easy to read and navigate. The effects are relatively reactive and accurate. The only issue to me is having to go through and set each EQ so it's tailored to it's own pre-amp setting. HOWEVER, once you make it through and set all the settings, it is very easy and convenient to navigate. It's a good quality pedal, I'm in the middle as far as the design goes, I like the retro vibe and hate it at the same time. IYKYK The sound quality is good once you get all the settings down, I'm still going through them all lol. I would recommend if you're a guitar enthusiast or play regularly. I have a bunch of pedals, I collect them and test them. This pedal is supposed to be wireless, but I have a whole set up, so as far as the battery life is, I don't know, sorry.

GRILLMASTER7

Awesome compact guitar pedal processor. 99 effects. 10 drums. Looper. Tuner.

This compact little processor is awesome. It came with 1 cable and a foot switch. I can only get the A switch to work. The instructions say you need a different cable to use tht B switch. It has 99 built in effects. 19 of them are for the bass guitar. There's a tuner. A drum machine with 10 types of drum, styles. And then there's the looper. I was able to have the drums playing while looping with chords. Then I was able to overdub with a lead. I was suprised I could overdub a few more layers. I got to 4. The loop sync and mode selections can only be made on the pedal itself. I didn't see anywhere on the android app to do this. The app I downloaded from their site works great. You can control everything else on it and it instantly reflects in the small window on the pedal. I found that you can clear any recorded loop by long pressing the left knob and getting out of loop mode by long pressing the right knob on the pedal as well. This can also be done on the app. You can also individually adjust the settings within each effect on the pedal and the app.

The effects sound great coming out of my 20 watt Blackstar amp. There's also a bluetooth function so you can connect a bluetooth speaker to it as well. This pedal makes practice so much more fun. I actually look forward to practicing everyday. Another added benefit is that I can take this pedal outdoors, plug into my guitar and plug a set of headphones in and practice without bothering the neighnors. I don't have to buy a small bluetooh plug in amp anymore.

The instrucitons are simple and clear but I found a few instructional videos on Youtube to learn how to use it. You can also connect this to a mac and pc to get a better app experience and download more effects. This little pedal is a lot more convenient to use than my 3 switch pedal. This is an awesome product. And a great value for the price listed.

Impressive Performance for NAM Profiles and IR Loading

I received this small pocket sized multi effects unit for review purposes and it has quickly earned a permanent spot in my practice bag. While the exterior has a very plastic feel and looks a bit like a toy, the internal processing power is where this device truly shines. It is a significant step up from other budget modelers I have used in the past.

The standout feature is the ability to run a NAM profile and a custom IR at the same time. Most budget gear in this price range forces to disable the cabinet when a NAM profile is active. On this unit, I was able to load straight DI versions of my favorite profiles alongside my preferred IR files. The result is a much more professional and authentic sound.

The audio quality benefits greatly from the 48kHz sample rate. I noticed that my reverbs sound much smoother and my IR files have a level of detail that is usually missing from small portable units. It feels like a high definition upgrade compared to the standard entry level gear on the market.

-- Performance and Use --

NAM and IR Slots: You get 10 slots for NAM profiles and 10 slots for IRs.

The App: The mobile app interface is intuitive and makes tweaking patches much easier than trying to navigate settings on the device hardware itself.

Gate and Compressor: The noise gate is actually usable without cutting off your notes abruptly. The compressor is surprisingly good at evening out the dynamics.

Acoustic Capability: I created an acoustic preset using a 3 Sigma Audio IR, a plate reverb, and gentle compression. The clarity is excellent and far exceeds my expectations for a device this size.

I found the included two button external footswitch to be a bit unnecessary. I do not see a way to assign these buttons to any functions other than moving patches up or down. Since the buttons on the main unit already perform that task, the external pedal feels like redundant gear to carry and connect.

There are a few other small quirks. The built in tuner is very sensitive and tends to jump around quite a bit. Additionally, I did not find any settings for spillover when switching between patches. However, the inclusion of an expression pedal input is a huge bonus for a unit this small.

If you can get past the goofy appearance, the sound quality and the ability to combine NAM profiles with IRs make this an incredible value. It is a powerful little tool for any guitarist who wants high quality tones on the go.
