I absolutely love this Boombox, I had the silver one, unfortunately it was stolen, so i ordered another one immediately, but in Black this time, I love the look of it and the sound of it, a lot of people admire it when we take it places, it is a conversation piece when we have company at our home, brings back so many memories!!!!!

LESS THAN ONE STAR

After charging it to completion the power indicator would turn red no matter what setting it was turned to. Nothing would play or connect. Luckily, Studebaker provides a lifetime warranty on this boombox model- provided you pay to ship it to their warehouse in Chicago… which cost me over $50. They generously sent me a brand new boombox, which stopped working after one month… It no longer reads CD’s, connects to the radio, or Bluetooth… I am the proud owner of a $260 cassette player that sits on top of the writing desk in my living room. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

This is the best boombox I have ever had! I Love the sound and different things you can do with it! The speakers are definitely surround sound! The bass feature is truly booming! It’s the best choice I could have made! If You want a boombox the totally delivers on sound and everything you would expect from a sound system go with the Studebaker boombox!

Poor Quality Control From Factory.

AAs an individual with experience in quality control inspection, I must express my disappointment in Studebaker's oversight. The presence of that smudge within the plastic is unacceptable, especially considering the price of $198.00. Received replacement and everything seems work excellent. 4/5 stars.

Function with nice retro feel

Was ready to play after taking it out. I love that it is rechargeable, has both cassette, CD, FM/AM radio, and update to today’s tech.

A Gen X Dream

I love this boombox so much. Dial-controlled AM/FM, tape, CD, Bluetooth in and out, usb input, plus awesome lit VU needles and beat-activated speaker lights. As a 1974 kid raised in the ‘80s, this bad boy is fulfilling all my dreams. A real hit at the pool party. W!

Old school nostalgia!!

Absolute Garbage

This product might look cool, but that’s about the only positive thing it’s got going for it. The sound is trash. The cassette player eats every tape that I try to play. So many classic rock albums destroyed. The cd player works for the most part, although there have been a few cds that it couldn’t read but work on other players. I haven’t tried the Bluetooth because I have better sounding Bluetooth speakers than this. I wouldn’t recommend this product unless you just want it to look cool sitting on display. Although if that’s the case I’d recommend getting an actual vintage boombox.

Does the job well for the price

I picked this unit over the GPO Brooklyn due to reading too many bad reviews about bad quirks and quality. I am quite happy with this at this price point and it actually delivers more sound than any of my Bluetooth speakers.

Pros:

-Sound is pretty good and it has some bass punch at up to 75% volume. Good treble too that is crisp. You won't find that low bass rumble here due to no sub-woofer. Studebaker is supposedly coming out with a new unit that features a sub-woofer.

-Nice look and layout of controls

-The light show is fun, along with the voltage meter. The lights may be turned off if you want.

-Nice carrying handle.

-Radio has good reception in my area with clear sound.

-The CD player was quiet and quick reading. It was neat seeing the disc spinning behind the circular element.

-The cassette sounded decent enough and has the soft open feature. All controls work fine.

-Bluetooth responds fast to signal and plays perfect.

Overall it's just a decent sounding and entertaining centerpiece to any gathering that is a little better and more versatile than a Bluetooth player. It feels animated with the pulsing lights and VU meter, etc. . .

Cons:

-During cassette use, the unit's power turns off when you hit stop and then goes on again when you hit play. This becomes annoying when searching for a track with the unit powering on and off each time you stop and check where you are on the tape.

-A way to control the unit from your phone would of been nice.

-The knobs seem to be plastic painted with a chrome finish.

-The cassette controls are just a little bit weak, so need to be careful.

-The radio control knob turns the opposite way of the radio station needle. Turning it clockwise make the needle go left, and vice versa.

-It would of been nice to have a constant light mode on for the speakers.

-When you turn off the light show, ALL lights go out completely. Would of been nice if the VU meter and radio dial stayed lit.

That's about it. It's a fun and good sounding unit with some minor quirks that hopefully will be ironed out on the next generation Studebaker releases later this year. I hear it will have a subwoofer!

I recommend getting this and just enjoying the look and the sound.

Too many quality issues for the price

This boombox cost a little more than the beautiful tube amp I bought a couple months ago. It's not cheap. Yet it arrived with one speaker cone collapsed (see photos) and various fit and finish issues (scratched chrome, cassette door misaligned, cheap knobs).

The sound is good, but some parts are fragile.

CDs and other digital media sound very good. The auxiliary input sounds just slightly better than Bluetooth. Even the cassette player sounds good, but the buttons for the cassette player are fragile. My record button has broken after three months. This is unfortunate, because the cassette records audio very well from CDs, auxiliary inputs, and the radio. Now I can't record with tapes any more.

I'm still satisfied with the rest. This is the best audio player that will play almost any media type. I hope they improve the build quality on the cassette player. The rest of the stereo deserves that.

Check out that broken button in my photo. Kind of makes all that chrome look pretty stupid, doesn't it?

Oh, and the sound meter on the left was broken off the rip! If you smack the stereo, the needle will move again...until the next song. Then you gotta slap it again!

WONDERFUL RADIO

THIS WAS A GREAT CHOICE. IT HAS KICKASS SOUND. IT'S NOT LOW AND GOES HIGH ENOUGH TO PLEASE. EXCELLENT QUALITY!!!

Received radio with scratches and spot

We received this radio in damaged condition with scratches and a spot ! Not in new condition. Still plays nice, good sound and color but seriously considering exchanging this radio with the same, replacement. This radio had no remote control in the box. We wanted a new Radio, the description said new condition, it seems in used condition.
