Adasterix
Solid quality industrial camera with good zoom magnification
Included in this kit is a camera, breakaway 10ft USB cable with the breakaway point about 1ft, 2in away from the camera, mounting hardware, and instruction pamphlet. Operation is very simple and is recognized immediately upon being plugged into a PC or Mac. On the telephoto lens there are a few adjustments that can be made. The outer ring adjusts aperture/light and is freely available. There are two additional inner rings that can be clamped down with small thumbscrews, these are used for zooming and focus.
Low light image quality is not great and introduces a lot of image noise, but in good lighting the image clears up quite a bit. Likewise setting the aperture too dim can also impact image quality. There appears to be some automatic white balancing built in as well. Included in this review are a few images taken of the top of a soda bottle at about 2ft away. One is zoomed all the way out, and other all the way in. The framerate on video capture is very smooth.
Overall, this is a good camera for watching well-lit areas.
