Longer range than Hollyland!

Let me start with this: I'm a photographer/videographer, and have owned Hollyland Solidcom C1 headsets for a few years. I love them and never thought I would go with any other brands ... until recently. When the Synco XTalk Pro was released, they claimed "1640ft/500m Operating Range" which I didn't believe. I thought to myself: this must be a "theoretical range under perfect conditions". I decided to give it a try.

After I received the Synco, the packaging looked neat and professional. Upon opening the box, the headsets looked decent although they feel not as "firm" as Hollyland. Yestrrday afternoon, me and my wife went on a walk in the Seal Point Park near Foster City and I decided to bring both Synco and Hollyland to test them out side by side in the open area.

I asked my wife to wear the Synco headset, and hold the Hollyland headset at similar height. She stood at a spot and I was the one walking away with both headsets on my head. We kept talking to make sure the connection was still there while I was walking on the trail and there was no buildings in between.

Whenever the voice gets glitchy, we both will hear a "lost connection" prompt in the headset. Hollyland started to lose its connection at round 875 ft/266meter (vs their claimed range of 1000ft). At this spot, Synco's connection was still very solid and the voice was crystal clear. I was SURPRISED!

So I kept walking ...

until about 2267ft/690m when the Synco started to get glitchy!!! (See the map attached) That was INSANE!!! They claim the working range is 1640ft/500m and the actual range is 38% higher than expected! Usually manufacturers will over exaggerate the specs but obviously Synco was too conservative.

After it lost its connection, I walked in the reverse direction and they immediately re-connected.

Hollyland has slightly better build quality and each headset comes with 2 batteries at a higher price ($199 for each headset). While each Synco headset only has 1 battery and costs $120 each. They both come with a carrying case to hold all the headsets, chargers, batteries and accessories. Lastly, Hollyland has very short delay (hard to notice) and Synco has a delay of around 300ms (wild guess). Since they are used for inter-person communication, such a delay won't be a problem.

Of course, this is not a thorough comparison. They should be tested under more complicated environments, say with various WiFi hotspots so that the interference will be taken into consideration.

Overall, Synco gave me a big surprise. If I need more headsets for my production team, I am more than happy to get these.

Great team intercom system

Syncs with other xpro5 across the area and gives long range. Can connect with each other and is easy to communicate with a 1sec or so delay but is crystal clear. Whoever has the master control can mute everyone on set. The communication with other devices is key with this set. You can separate two channels so one team can be team 1 while another be on team 2 and they don't have to know what team 1 is doing. I have a whole set enough to make a movie with.
