Excellent cat tracker

I got this tracker to be able to find my elderly senile cat at night. She doesn't go outside often, but at night she likes to wonder into the neighbors cow fields so I worry about her. Twice she's been at the very edge of the trackers range, but it still allowed me to find her in the dark so 5 stars. Worth the price, no subscription. As long as you know approximate pet location within a few acres, this thing works better than gps.

Best option on the market tbh

Works very well especially if you live in a rural area. So much better than an AirTag. You just pay for this. No worry to set up an app or pays subscription. It’s not too heavy, my cat does seem to mind wearing it. The collar is a separate purchase though.

It helped me find my lost kitten.

Okay, first I thought these were really expensive. However, my kitten escaped while I answered the door and didn't realize he was gone until he didn't come running when his feeder went off. So he had been out for about an hour. I was frantic. I had no idea where to even begin to look. Our apartment complex is nestled on three sides with residential housing and one side a major highway. I took the handheld out and just started walking and calling. I was very nervous because it just stayed red. As I wondered I saw it bleep yellow. I got so excited as I figured I was at least going the right direction now. Then it really started going off so I new he was right there in the dense bushes. After calling his name a few times he came running out to me. I have never been so thankful. This tracker was well worth the price. Instead of spending days canvassing and putting up alerts, I was able to find him within about 15 minutes. It is well worth the cost to not loose your beloved pet. For me, it has already paid for itself. My kitten is back home safely. Now I'm going to hit submit and try to stop shaking. Best purchase ever.0

Works! Prefer over AirTag

Small enough that it doesn’t bother them. Really like that it’s secured to the collar and isn’t free hanging like a tag. Super easy to set up and use. I have 4 cats and all adventure in our little forest. I’ve found one behind our shed in the forest using the tracker. Only thing that is hard to do is get the tracker in the rubber fitting and only the collar.

Marco Polo game with cats

Package arrived a week after ordering. I got the “used like new option” for $10 off. Probably would have been worth it to buy the full price since this meant the protective tabs were taken off the batteries already. So now I have no idea how long these little button batteries have until they die.

I went ahead and ordered some replacements so I can switch them right away. I think this is going to have a learning curve because it’s like playing Hot and Cold or Marco Polo with your cat. When you activate the tag locate button on the remote, you turn around and walk toward the strongest signal. The remote control beeps much louder than the tag you are trying to find, but they do have an option to turn down the volume. I think the suggestion the company has about training your cat to come to you when the tag starts beeping is the best strategy. Once I’ve learned, practiced, and have used this more, I will update the review.

Like using a metal detector!

My cat wanders if given the opportunity. Shes adventurous and doesn't come to me when called. This tracker has found her 3 doors down in my neighbors back yard.

Its works very similar to a metal detector. Its kind of like playing a video game. If you get an increase in beeps and you see yellow appear on the remote that's a strong indicator you are close. If it stops signaling you go back to the spot with yellow and keep on the direction most favorable. Its very reliable in real time. No delays for tracking. The beeps will increase in frequency the closer you get to green status. I placed the tracker on a simple $1.00 collar from dollar tree. Its very obvious on her neck. The connection is very reliable. The remote is thin and simple to use. There should be a silicone case that allows you to hang the remote, It could get lost itself, but its perfect for its design. I don't panic as much as I did before. I highly recommend this tracker for any of your fur babies.

Prepare to spend more$

I gave them a 3 because the tags batteries were rusted less than 5 months after purchase. Customer service response was a link for me to BUY new tags.

Works intuitively, but add reflective tape to remote!

Works super well except with one cat of mine who is transitioning from kitten to cat and beginning to prowl for a female companion. He has shed his collar twice and after the last time he did so, it's gone without a trace. I thought he got eaten by a coyote, but he came back with a new yowling type of meow.

Can easily find my other two cats and my opossum when she wears her harness.

The remote should be more visible, but nothing a little reflective duct tape can't fix.

9/10 super product. I'd pay more for more range, but I can easily find any of my other cats on the 2 acres I live on just by walking around the property.

Takes no time at all to set up and is something I'd recommend to any who want to keep track of their feline friends without an annual fee or relying on someone's iPhone to be nearby.

I forgot to unpair one of my tags with the remote from the 2pk I initially bought, is this tag bricked now that I sent back the remote it's paired to?

Good buy

It works just as it was advertised! It came with batteries and was all ready to set up. It works perfectly outside of the USA as I’m using it here in the Philippines! It fits perfectly in my 2 year old cat. It doesn’t look bulky at all.

This works so much better than an AirTag!

THIS WORKS PERFECTLY FOR MY NEEDS!

My cats love to roam into the neighbors yards, so not too far, but far enough where it would take me an hour to find them using the AirTags (not worth it for tracking cats).

With this, I juts point it in different directions and I can track them from a full yard/house away. I haven’t tried it further than that.

My cats are “special”, but they LOVE being outside, and I have to collect them before I leave the house and this makes it so much less stressful.

*Four starts only because I couldn’t find the little tool at first to help get the tracker in the silicone- and it’s a tight fit.

Accurate and good (so far)

So far so good. Just received this week April ‘25. Very easy to set up. The sound does not scare the cat which was my fear. My only complaint thus far is I wish the size was a bit smaller.

Works like a charm

Just unboxed it and so far I am in love. No longer will I question if my cat is right in front of me. 😅

But seriously, this is a great product. I searched and search for something simple to keep track of my cat during outside time. So many other products required a subscription. So tired of subscription services.

This meets me and my cats needs the best.

Does not work

If I could give it 0 stars I would. The green "you're closer" light lights up in multiple directions. My cat took her collar off when I went to test it, I found my cat just because I knew where she was, but no matter how fast the green light beeped, the tracking device was nowhere to be found. Now instead of using the GPS locator to find the dumb thing, I have to look around my house just so I can find it to return it.

Find your cats in the apocalypse

I have 4 starts because one tag came with bad batteries and I had to buy new ones and read the manual for how to change them. Overall I'm satisfied. In case you are curious how it actually works, there's a video. It's a simple and effective solution. I imagine it'll work perfectly of I have tile tags for general area plus this for finer pinpointing. For now, my cats don't roam all that much so this is great. I love that there's no dependence on apps or networks, so it wouldn't be affected by any disaster scenario.

Instructions are wrong to replace batteries

I tried the included manual and all over the internet. If you want to open it to replace batteries, don’t follow their instructions. It doesn’t work. See the video here how to get it done.

Love these so much!!!

This product is a game changer! Air tags don't work well up here in the mountains because of the inconsistent cell service, but these are perfect! I did put an air tag on the handset because my son isn't great about putting it away properly, but now we can always find the airtag/handset through the Wifi.

I was worried the tags would be too large for my medium sized cats, but they are lightweight and easy for them to carry - mind you, the cats aren't keen on a collar at all, but they have to suck it up for safety. It looks oddly big in the photo, but it really isn't. I got collars with a quick release fastener so I can take them off when I can keep the cats inside and easily put the collars on again when the pretend-predators want to be out.

These are city cats moved up to the mountains, so I don't let them have 100% freedom outside, and they're reasonably cautious; but, being cats, they don't necessarily come when you try to call them inside because you have to leave or it's getting dark - sure, they hear me, they just have other priorities. These trackers have found them pretty far from the house and sometimes in unexpected places. The cats have their fun, and I get peace of mind.

I had an issue with one of the trackers on arrival, but I contacted the seller, and they helped me right away - minor battery issue, easily resolved.

Love that each tracker is connected to a different button on the handset, and you can change the volume on the handset - good point in the instruction booklet that when you're close you can turn the volume off and listen for the sound the tracker makes on the cat. One cat knows when her tracker goes off that I'm looking for her and will meet me part way, but she's very food motivated and knows she'll get treats. The other one - who knows what she's thinking - she makes me work for it (hahaha).

This works well for inexpensive tracking!

I think this is a great product. My cat is only 6 months, weighs about 8 lbs. It is not big or heavy and he doesn't seem to mind it at all. He has learned that if the collar goes on he gets to go outside. He's pretty good about staying close to the house, but it has directed me to him every time and easily. He does not like the beeping on the collar. It makes him look around and he gets a bit confused and even a little nervous as to where it's coming from, but with a little training, he is quickly learning that if it beeps, he gets a good treat. Today, he could not see me when I pressed it, and he ran into the garage to get the treat when I beeped him to locate. I'm not sure all cats would be as compliant, others have had success with this so I decided to start training him. I would prefer a gps that shows when he's out of a safe area, but the cost was prohibitive and it seemed the battery life short on those, not to mention the weight and size around the cats neck, so I opted for this instead. After all, if you let your cat out at all, you are willing to take a bit of risk with them. I recommend this product. It was easy, came packaged nicely, is small enough not to be clunky on my cat's neck, and is doing what I needed it to do.

Kitty On a Strict Med Schedule

I have a precious 9 year old kitty named Peanut who has been taking anti-seizure medications 3 times a day most of his life. He may be mentally impaired but when it comes to pill time he can hide in places never imagined. He doesn't go outside so I decided this might help keep him on his much-needed pill schedule. I was concerned about him wearing a collar since he has never had to wear one but he quickly adjusted to it. He further proved how sharp he is by not hiding much since he learned I can find him with the collar locater. This device works like a charm!

It’s there when you need it

Our Maine coon cat, Max, is an indoor cat, but does escape occasionally. This device worked great for helping me find him a couple times already and we’ve only had it for a week. We definitely gotta do something about him getting out but this product will really really help us when he escapes. Since I don’t have to charge it every night or every few days, it’s there for me when I need it.

Saved my kittens twice

I found my ornary kitten at night in the neighbor's back yard down the road. He was not wanting to come in when I called him like his good brother...lol. So I went out looking for him with the remote. It started to go off when I got in range so I followed the direction as it lights up and beeps as you get closer. I could also see the collar light up red in the dark weeds and my cat decided to run off..lol. but he finally surrendered and I took him home. Saved me from worrying if something bad happened.

Then a week later, my "good" kitten got stuck in some logs and we were able to find him and get him out. It could have been a bad turnout. I wish this technology was around for my last cat. Would have saved the day in so many situations.

I did try the Apple Airtags first and they worked OK but I had some problems with them registering to 2 devices and the range uses blue tooth, not GPS. It's not very accurate on the map. They did beep as well when you tried locating them but not sure if they light up or not. They were also slightly bulkier/heavier than these.

I just like the simplicity of the Tabcat with the remote, especially since I don't have an iPhone and had to use the iPad which didn't have cell service to be able to leave WiFi range. Obviously if you had an iPhone that would be fine but I couldn't get them to register to my son's phone either. Was a pain. When technology gets better for GPS so that the tags are smaller for cats, I will get them but for now this is great.

Love it! Just wish it had better range

I have tried a few different cat trackers that do not require GPS or a monthly subscription and this one is my favorite so far! It is extremely accurate and not bulky on the collar. My cats don’t have an issue or seem to notice it at all on their caller. it helps me locate them when they are in the yard, but if they go beyond the 300 feet or so, then it’s useless. I wish that the range on this was better, but I’m happy to have this. For the most part of brings me peace of mind when I can locate them.

Life saver

I rely on reading reviews when I buying a product, but rarely leave one. I have to leave one for this product because it is amazing! I was very hesitant in letting my cat out, but she was very unhappy being inside all the time. All the other tracking products that I had looked at were more expensive, had a monthly fee and were very large. My cat is pretty petite and that would’ve never worked on her. I tried this out and while it doesn’t tell you exactly where the cat is it’s like playing a game of hot and cold. It tells you when you’re getting close or moving away. My cat has normally just been staying out an hour or two and then coming back. This week when she was gone for three hours I went looking for her. This device allowed me to pinpoint where she was which was way in the back of our house in the woods and over a deep creek. Turns out she was 50 feet up in a tree and couldn’t get down. I had to hire someone to get her down. There was no way that I would’ve ever found her if it had not been for this device. She would’ve just died up there, so this is truly a lifesaver. I highly recommend it!

Saved my sanity!!

Update: I have been using this for 8 months with no issues until there was an issue. I had replaced the batteries in the tag and locator and it still did not work. I reached out to Tabcat via email and they promptly responded to my email requesting a contact number to help troubleshoot. Veronica called and had me try several different things and recommended replacing the battery again in the locator if that didn't work I could send it in for testing and a replacement under warranty. I bought another battery and it now works again. Thank you Tabcat for your customer service!

Original Review: I was skeptical how this would work but it has saved me so much time and anxiety! I live in the country and my cat is mostly in doors but I have a very smart dog that can open the door and that's when she escapes. I have spent hours searching for her... Until this! I've had it on her for about a month now and I can easily find her. It's like of like playing the hot/cold game. Turn on the remote and begin the hunt. She has never traveled very far from the house but there are lots of places for her to hide. Not anymore. I am so glad I made this purchase and add a bonus it came with 2 trackers. I thought it was only one! I have not had to replace the battery after daily use for a month now. Very satisfied!

Works!

Works pretty well for us although we have lots of trees. Our adventurous kitty likes to sneak out hen the door is opened. Last tracking I traced him to underneath my neighbor's wheelbarrow. He promptly scampered after I found him but at least I knew where he was. We can't hear the slight beeping on the collar but he can, and he's starting to recognize it as time to come home

Great to have peace of mind!

Bought this for my new indoor/outdoor cat. I knew it would take a while to train her on the yard boundaries and wanted something to let me know where she was. This device easily lets me know how close she is so I can be doing chores and click on the tracker to see how many lights show. Then I can go into the yard and pretty easily find her. I’ve been using this about 2 months now and when I click to find her she usually come running as the collar vibrates when you track. She knows I’m looking for her!

Where's Kacie??

Great value for the money. We have a 1 year old cat KC that sometimes sneaks out at night. Before we purchased the tracker we had no idea where to start looking for her. Now we just turn on the unit and rotate until the lights start flashing , first red, then orange, then green so you are basically within a foot of her it has about a 500 foot range. So far no more sleepless nights worrying about her.

Every pet owner should have one

I have been using this for 6 months and it has been great and accurate for finding my cat in the neighborhood, it finds her every time. I also bought a pink LED light up collar to add to the Tabcat, as she is an all-black kitty. I also love that I don't need my cell phone either, it uses Radio Frequency "NOT" GPS. it is very small and doesn't seem to mind wearing it. So, if you have cat that is an indoor and outdoor kitty and want to make sure she is ok and want her to come in, I recommend this to every cat owner. Plus NO, subscription, which is great.

Get this!

Works perfectly! Works exactly like described. Will lead you directly to the collar which should be attached to your pet! We have kittens that go outside that are hard to find without this tracker. Works in the rain and the dark. Red blinking light can be seen (on pet) while tracking in the dark.

Works Where Others Won't

Tabcat v2 has an advantage that it works no matter where you are. As it doesn't rely on a cellular connection, you can let your cat roam, and then track them down with relative ease. My cat lost two GPS/cellular trackers, which went unrecovered. This radio beacon has a long battery life and can track your cat's collar for days after you've last had contact with them. GPS/cellular trackers only last 12-36 hours before their battery dies, leaving you with no way to find the collar and cat.

UPDATE: My cat came home late one morning, covered in mud and without his collar. I tracked the collar to a gully where he fell through overgrowth and took a mud bath. I chose not to grab rope and a bush axe and go in after the collar. My cat came home after losing the second tracker, and after sharpening my machete and hacking my way into the woods, I walked directly to the resting place of the collar. I never had such luck with either GPS/cellular/Bluetooth tracker that I've used.

A Great Tool for tracking down your cat!

Wonderful Device, helps me and me cat. However, the handheld battery life is SHORT and when the battery is low, you get no indication of where your cat is. NEEDS a handheld unit with better battery life!

I spent a lot of time researching cat trackers. Due to real life constraints, there is no perfect solution. However, for me this is the best fit. GPS trackers are too large, battery life is too short, you need cell service and a subscription. Bluetooth range is too short. So, I concentrated on RF. My cat is very small so size is extremely important. I decided to try the Tabcat. So far I am not disappointed though I have not used it for very long. I did testing by locating the transmitter in several spots and using the handheld to verify the range. I even placed it in bushes. I believe the range is as advertised and it worked well. I added it to my cats collar but I did not use the rubber mounting. It is too bulky and would not slip over his break-any collar. I used double sided mounting tape and electrical tape for a much smaller profile. He just ignores it.

I like that the tracker on the cat emits a beep and an LED flashes when searching. The hand-held unit works well also. It is very, very slim. I would prefer it being a bit thicker and a little more substantial though. I will be traveling and visiting friends with my cat and I feel better that he is equipped with this device. I hope I do not need it but I like to be prepared. He is very important to me. He has a habit of getting into cabinets and whatever, so now I can find hime even when he goes missing in the house. I will add to this after I use it more. He did not cooperate much for the picture but I did attach it.

Now I have had this a while. It has been invaluable for finding my cat who get into all kids of places. Yesterday he figured out the dog door and was outside in the backyard. Tracked him down. I have used it a lot! Great tracking tool
