Faulty Remote

One of the buttons on the remote does not work. The corresponding outlet is working, because it’s indicated light is green, but the lamp won’t turn on. I need a new remote..The lamp in the background was turned on with the same remote as the one in the foreground that would not activate..

Easy Remote Outlets

These are great and convenient. You have two remotes so you are able to disburse the outlets in the house as desired. Numbered for easy use too.

Problem solver!

I purchased this because I have antique stained glass hanging lamps over tables that make the switches difficult to access. Some of the switches are fragile so I wanted to limit the wear and tear on them. Problem solved. The item is ready to go right out of the pkg. The remote has a magnet if you prefer to use that option, but I have a small basket next to my chair that holds remotes so it's handy all the time. One of the best ideas ever! I absolutely recommend this. It would be great for much more than just lamps.

Great product!

Super easy to use and love the small remote control which can be magnetically attached to night stand or end table

Looks decent, barely functional.

Day 1, the magnets both fell off the remotes. Guess I'll go buy some super glue so they don't need to spend their money on it.

The next issue, more importantly, is that the remote doesn't reach about 3.5 ft to the receiver plug. There isn't much mass between the two that would attenuate the signal. I have to move the remote around usually to get it to operate.

I don't think it's asking much in 2025 for it to operate a little better than this and especially when it's advertised as such.

Ideal for controlling Christmas lighting decorations around the house. Very handy, easy to use!

Great for controlling multiple devices with a single remote. Ideal for Christmas time, where we have multiple lighting setups around the house and I want to easily be able to turn them on/off without going to plug... Christmas Village, Tree, and garland all now easy to turn on/off at the push of the button!

Great idea, nicely executed.

I ordered these because we have an outlet on our garage door opener that we use to plug in a hanging shop light when doing projects in the garage. My husband has to hang the light at over 6 ft, so it doesn't hit his head. Consequently, if he forgets to turn it off, and he leaves or goes to bed, I'm stuck with trying to turn it off. Of course, I can't reach it, so I have to drag my tall step-stool out to the garage in order to reach the switch on the light. I thought, "There must be a better way!" Well, This beauty is it!

These are EASY to use. Just plug this device into the outlet and plug in the electrical cord. Then, push the button on the side of the outlet switch until the indicator light blinks 3 times. Done. Now, the light (or whatever) can be turned on/off with the remote or by pushing the button on the side of the device.

I immediately found uses for the other two outlet switches in this set. I'm using one for some string lights that I use for ambient lighting in the bedroom and one for the Christmas tree lights. This saves the hassle of digging behind furniture to try to unplug lights that don't have on/off switches. Now, I'm wishing that I ordered the set of five because I'm finding other uses for these already.

The remote is easy to use with on/off buttons for each outlet switch clearly marked with the corresponding number (see pic). It has a magnet on the back which allows the remote to stick to a metal surface, like the fridge, to keep it handy in a central location. There is even an included metal disc that has a mounting sticker on one side which can be attached to a smooth surface to create a mounting surface for the remote. A battery for the remote is included.

NOTE: There was a small issue with the magnet on the back of the remote coming off because the magnet is stronger than the sticker used to attach it to the remote. I solved this by peeling the sticker off the magnet and attaching it to the remote with a dab of rubberized glue (Shoe Goo). This worked perfectly to correct the issue. I'm sure super glue or some other type of glue for plastic would work just as well.

The retail price at the time of this review is $27.99 or about $9.33 per switch. Yes, this is a little pricey, but if you are like me, and you're tired of the frustration of trying turn off lights (or other electrical items) by unplugging hard-to-reach plugs, you'll probably find that these are worth the investment. That said, due to the magnet problem and the price, I took one star off of my review.

In summary, if you've ever wanted to add an on/off switch to anything electrical and control it with a remote, this is your Huckleberry! My rating: FOUR STARS!

So convenient!

These remote control outlets are exactly what we needed for the Holidays. The remote is very standard and simple to use. Just On button and Off button, nothing crazy. Would have been nice to have a timer option. But no biggie it works exactly as it should. Comes in handy, especially for Christmas trees. I just wanted the ability to turn it on or off quickly. I like that these outlets save on energy and are decently small. I also liked that you can hang the remote. They provide you with magnets to stick onto whatever surface you want. Overall, a great quality item I do recommend

One plug died at 3 weeks/no manufacturer contact address

Update after 3 weeks of use:

I originally gave these smartplugs 5 stars. At 3 weeks of use one plug stopped working. The other 4 plugs still work. Under "Support" in the user manual it says if you have any problems ..."for purchases made through TESSAN'S authorized resellers, please contact them directly. But Tessan's online store is at <tessan.com>. But it's not clear what to do if the problem occurs past the return period but within the 18-month warranty. Tessan does not show their website address in the manual. And I think they need to make clearer who you would turn to for a warranty refund or replacement.

Original review:

I'm sure this type of switch has been around for awhile but I was not aware of it. I wish I had known about these long ago -- they're fabulous! Not only do they make it convenient to turn plug-in lights and other items on and off but, by eliminating the plugging in and unplugging you decrease the wear and tear on the wall socket and possibly eliminate having to replace a worn-out wall socket at some point. You also increase the life of the wires/cable since the difficult-to-reach location of some sockets might encourage you to pull the plug out by the wire rather than the plug itself. Highly recommended.
