Does it play cassettes and spark joy ik the year of our lord 2026? Yes
Does it connect to Bluetooth? Usually
Are the buttons upside down, or am I an idiot? Maybe. Don't tell me if the button letters were rotated 180° this wouldn't make way more sense.

The best for quality and price!
Absolutely love this player! There are a few cassette players out right now, but with all the capabilities this one has I think it's the best for the price. I love that it's rechargeable and that you can either use Bluetooth or a wired pair of headphones. The sound is really good to me as well. There are a few players out right now for $100 and up and they don't even do everything this one does.

Good for beginners, lots of room for improvement from tomashi though
The Tomashi 6508 cassette player is a good starter player, although there is certainly lots of room for improvement (especially for $69.99)
There are only a few issues I've encountered, most concerning being that there is seemingly no way to open this model from the back, making repairs (such as replacing the belt) much more difficult than it needs to be.
There are a few problems with playing tapes as well, which I will list in no particular order:
1. No auto stop on rewind/fast forward
2. No auto reverse
3. Stuttering in playback, which If I have to guess would indicate a weak motor (I've tried multiple tapes, both new and old, plus I've charged the player overnight)
But I must say, when the stars align and the Tomashi 6508 plays tapes without stuttering, it manages to sound pretty darn good for a new cassette player in 2026.
So tomashi, I really hope you build on the positives of the 6508, because you could have a great product on your hands if you do.

NOT at THAT Price!!
Nastalgia Yes—but NOT at that PRICE!!
This little cassette player has the next century upgrade of recharging, including the latest standard USB-C charger, and has Bluetooth capability.
Big deal!
Being from the era where cassette players were THE thing to have, I have had considerable experience purchasing (and throwing away) these players. I have had a couple of cassette tapes in a drawer, recorded in 1985, so I was happy to try this little player. And, I believe I can speak with some authority on the quality of this one:
This is a simple very basic model, light and compact, EXCEPT: It was not designed for our region! This was the first sign to me: the manufacterers could not be bothered to design a model for our region. What does that say about quality?
The buttons look simple enough: Play, Fast forward, Rewind, and Record. But wait! That red button, which on any quality player would indicate Record, is NOT for Record; it is the Stop button. There is no Record feature on this player. I also eventually figured out the function buttons are backward from what is normal in our region. As a hint, the icon “arrow” next to the word play (on the left) is the play direction of the tape; that tells you the double icon in the same direction is the fast forward.
You will want to double check the instructions for setting up Bluetooth headphones, but once done, they worked ok.
The biggest downside: SERIOUSLY Over priced! In my day (when these were the cool thing to have) this would be one of the cheapest models. No headphones included, backward operation, and no apparent concern for quality manufacturing. I cannot recommend this player as a good value.

Very Good Cassette Player
The tomashi cassette player is very small, portable and very cool player . It has a see through design which I really like and is lightweight and easy to take with me on the go. Cassettes are back and this player is perfect for me when I just want to listen to my music in a different. All of the buttons work great and the fact that the player even has built in bluetooth is a plus. I did not get it for the bluetooh capabilities but it is nice that you can use wireless headphones or and in my testing it worked fine in bluetooth mode. Sound that comes out of this player is good and given the tape format that is used I have no complaints. The rechargeable battery life is good and the only thing that I wish it came with is a decent set of wired headphones. If you have cassette tapes I think that this is a nice portable cassette player that is a good value for the price.

What a cool cassette player with Bluetooth technology
I really love the look of this Tomashi cassette player, the clear transparent case where you can see the wheel spinning and this yellow color is very retro chic.
It’s also very lightweight, comes with a belt clip, charges via USB and best of all has Bluetooth to sync up my favorite headphones to listen to my old favorites tapes to reminisce while keeping the technology modern.
This makes it so much easier for me to go over my older collection instead of throwing them away. The battery life is good after a charge. It has all the functions needed for play backs. The sound quality is also good with the updated sound amplifier chip and less tape entanglement with use of a copper wheel. I find this chic cassette player a good value for the money and would make such a cool gift.

Interesting, rechargeable tape cassette player - works well
This cassette player works great with the saved cassettes my family has that we weren't sure what we could do with them or even be able to play them. One of my siblings is again fond of Xanadu, though she has several music cassettes, she didn't have Xanadu & we were able to get it for her - she was so enamored with the ability to use a cassette player & my family, especially my parents are happy that it's rechargable. The battery life seems really good since my sister has started to use it, though it didn't come with its own wall charger, it did come with a charging cord. I wish the cord would have matched the color of the cassette player, as it's already missing & my mom wants me to find one that's yellow.
The music plays great - it's just like or nearly like what my sister used previously, it sounds really good - though that might be the headphones too. The controls are easy enough to understand & use, after a tape is done, it's awesome that it automatically turns off.
I would say the one part I would change is making the door "handle" be slightly larger, it's on the small size & easy to miss it. There's no button to "pop" the cassette player door open.
As for the price, I'm not sure it's a good price or not, the last time I ordered one for my sister it was less than this one, but then again it wasn't rechargable, nor did it have a translucent exterior.

Closest thing to my Sony Walkman I’ve heard so far
I am extremely impressed with this device. Not only does it look and feel great, but the sound quality is amazing. Compared to my Sony Walkman (the best sounding cassette player I own) this comes extremely close. I’d say that this device is slightly quieter with the teeniest bit amount of “noise” in the background, but other than that, it comes close, and with the frequent interference (that newer devices don’t suffer from… vintage devices weren’t made with the digital age in mind) my vintage Sony suffers from, I’ve noticed myself using this device a bit more often. Though I’m not sure how long the rechargeable battery will last on the long run yet, it does seem to last a long time before needing recharged. I don’t have an exact hour count, but I haven’t charged this once since getting it and have probably listened to at least 10 albums. It is extremely easy to use, had a very smooth opening mechanism, and is very small and compact. Very easy to travel with. One thing I did notice, however, is that sometimes, when tilted at specific angles, the sound quality drops just a bit or seems to dampen for a moment or two. I’m not sure if that’s standard with most portable cassette players, but it is something I noticed. It isn’t permanent though, only for a moment. This definitely makes me respect the Tomashi brand a bit more, and it is more proof that not all modern cassette players are bad. Though I am not a technical audiophile, the sound itself is extremely impressive. You’d never think a cassette could sound so good!

New age tech for cassettes
What a blast from the past, this thing is cool as cool can be. It has a wonderful transparent case and all the makings of an old cassette player with new technology and new hardware.. battery life is amazing and I very much appreciate the fact that it has Bluetooth. The integrated dealt flip is useful and stylish, and the sound quality is wonderful. It’s very easy to use if you are not familiar with cassette players as well. I had many in my day but it’s nice to see that new folks won’t have an issues. Functionality is great, the player doesnt make Alot of noise while running and it seems to have good quality belts inside. The only thing I would recommend is sending spare belts in the package just in case one ever breaks. Great value, would recommend.

Finer details are rubbish, but it plays tapes fine.
As you can tell from the button layout, this player uses the Tanashin mechanism.
To those not in the know, the Tanashin mechanism is a very very cheap, unreliable mess when it comes to playing tapes properly. It has a TON of wow and flutter, meaning the speed at which the tape is played isn't very consistent. It sounds horrible to my ears.
I think you should buy this anyway, for it is a cheap cassette player that will get the job done at the end of the day.
After all, I'd say that if you're choosing to simply listen to music and you don't care about the fine details, it works perfectly. It has so far only eaten 1 tape, but only because the tape itself was worn and was on it's way out regardless. I doubt anyone would be able to notice this player's shortcomings so long as the music is played through an average set of earphones.
It uses the same mechanism but with great improvements so it sounds incredible.
Here's a personal doodle I've made of the TOMASHI tape player. It's a fun device to draw.

Good quality portable tape player for 2025
According to the packaging, Tomashi has designed their own playback mechanism. I did my best to photograph it so you can look for yourself - I would agree, new mechanism or not, the tape heads work well with any tape I tested with. Having a rechargable battery is a great feature as well - I kind of forgot what a pain AA batteries could be, so it's nice to just USB-C charge the unit along with the million other things using USB-C around here.
There's really no setup to worry about - put in the tape, connect your Bluetooth, and you're good to go. The player produces relatively little hiss (for a tape player in 2026) and has a very solid build quality.
Yes - you can go on auction sites and try to track down a classic tape player. But that's costly and time consuming and requires belt maintenance and more. If you're looking, simply, for a way to play tapes without all the baggage of earlier eras, I think this is an excellent way to do so.

A sleek retro vibe cassette player!
I love the look of this cassette player, the translucent yellow with internals showing gives it a nice retro vibe which feels fun while remaining sleek and attractive. The player is easy to use with just 4 buttons on top, Stop, Play, Fast Forward, and Rewind. As well as a simple bluetooth button and volume wheel on the side. USB C recharging is an awesome feature that I love seeing included, making it super easy to recharge when on the go, and the battery life seems decent so far!
The player is compatible with all standard cassette tapes. Unfortunately this player ate the first cassette I used in it, albeit that cassette has not been played in a long time so I will chalk it up to the cassette being old, I have not had this issue since then.
The sound is amazing, especially through my Bose bluetooth headphones, though I had a really hard time getting them connected to the bluetooth of the device at first. Again, I'm not entirely sure whether this is the cassette player, or a compatibility issue with my headphones, however once they connected everything seems to work just fine. The connection process is pretty straightforward though, just hold the bluetooth button for a couple of seconds until the light flashes, then it will automatically connect to any device in pairing mode nearby.
Considering the older technology the device is a little over priced for what it is, but you are paying for a premium product that looks good and functions well.

Really neat portable cassette player with a rechargeable battery.
This is a unique looking portable cassette player. It has a see-through shell in an interesting yellow color. This makes it visually striking. I think it is fun to be able to see the motor, gears, and other components working inside the cassette player while it is in operation. I appreciated the internal rechargeable battery. This provides adequate power to the unit to be able to play long-run cassettes. It also lasts forever. It is very easy to charge. It has bluetooth functionality to make it easy to pair to wireless headphones for a more modern experience. It is easy to use and pair. The stereo sound is a nice feature, and it is quite loud.
There were a few things to note. For example, there is a little hiss from the player. It is also not the most durable cassette transport. It is a little basic, but that is typical of all modern cassette players. I think it is a fair value for the money, but I would have preferred to see something like a carrying case or way to keep the player looking nice over time. It does not come with headphones. It has basic cassette player features with a forward, rewind, play, and stop. The only other control is to pair the bluetooth. Overall it is easy to access and use all the functions as they are all clearly labeled.

Future tech meets classic tech meets style. Clip is detachable, internal battery, runs during charge
I can't say enough good things about this cassette deck for the price. I get more compliments and questions about this than anything high-end I own. It is so stylish and engaging I find myself (and others) looking through the clear sidewalls to the mechanism just as much as enjoying the music! It plays everything great, feels very well made and everything opens/closes crisply and slides effortlessly. I easily connected higher end noise canceling Bluetooth headphones and was blown away by cassettes that are from the 80s. The internal battery beats swapping AA batteries, and you can even run it while charging off the wall or off of a battery bank. I was worried I would snap the clip as I don't need to use that because it sits in my bag more of the time and was pleased it can easily be removed. This will make a perfect gift for someone who likes gadgets, especially old school stuff that is the best of old and new.

Works great, fun way to introduce kids to old cassettes
Does exactly what it says. Bluetooth and built-in headphone playback both work great. The kids really liked the see-through design - makes it feel more interesting than just a black box.
While we don't listen to cassettes a ton, this opened up a bunch of my old tapes from when I was a kid to them (at least the ones that haven't fallen apart with age). It's been a fun nostalgia trip.
We were also able to hook this up to our computer with an audio cable and record old cassettes to digital formats, which worked perfectly. Nice bonus feature.
Overall great for what it does. If you need a cassette player that actually works in 2026 and has modern features like Bluetooth, this seems solid. Happy with it.

Great Quality Cassette Player
This is an excellent cassette player! My teen has recently become obsessed with all types of retro technology, and was excited to use this. It performs beautifully. My teen purchased another cassette player in a similar price range ($50) prior to this that worked, but the sound quality was rather poor, even with a brand new cassette. This one blows it out of the water. The value is so much higher, especially for the price.
The yellow translucent color is as pictured, very fun.
It features Bluetooth, which is great for additional functionality and pairs well earbuds.
There is an optional belt clip, that clicks into place, or comes off easily.
The cassette player opens easily with a small tab on the front, to place the cassette in. It feels well made and is holding up well to daily use.
Overall, I am very impressed. The features and quality at this price point are excellent, and the style is great.

Well Made And Sound Quality is Decent.
Well this is a pretty well made cassette player. It has a nice industrial look where you can actually see the insides of it when playing a cassette tape.
The sound quality is good of course having a good set of headphones helps. It's really easy to use with the basic play, stop, fast forward and rewind.
It has Bluetooth which I haven't needed to use yet but the option is there. It's compatible with all me old cassette tapes and it runs smooth so far.
It's small in size which makes it nice for taking it with you maybe on a walk or a run. And it has a decent battery life too. I like it but its a little over price in my opinion, but with that said it still does a good job.

This is an amazing retro type portable cassette player and it actually has Bluetooth to make it modern. The cassette player itself works really well and efficiently easy to use. The door opens very easily. Insert your tape and go. It’s a great product that brings you back to the 80s and 90s it works really well and you can see the inside of it working and the mechanics going while using it. It has a see-through case nice color very high-quality and strong quality product. I would definitely recommend it.
