My daughter loves her Tonie box 2, and I couldn’t recommend it more!
Chelsea Russell
I would never recommend a Tonies Box after the issues I have had in less than a year. A family member purchased this, and it didn't work properly from the start. How didn't it work properly? It would play the characters, but once my kids switched a character, the old one kept playing. It would stop halfway through a character, and we were constantly turning it off and on. We have factory reset our box 10 times in less than a year.
We have taken it off Wi-Fi, switched Wi-Fi networks, factory reset it, and deleted and re-downloaded all of our characters numerous times. We were given a replacement Tonie and 4 discounted characters for the issues. It locks up, and we can't use it at all. We got to keep the original box. The new box was WORSE. We barely use the new box because it doesn't work at all.
I am asking for another replacement because the pink isn't working again. I was told they would, but then all of a sudden they can't send me a replacement.
It is so defeating because my children LOVE it when it works. We have 16 characters and have invested in these boxes. I want to purchase another, but I worry we will have similar issues again. We can't even play our current ones, and my kids are sad about it.

Really should not have bought this. I did not buy one before and thought it’s great because it wouldn’t have screen time. You have to collect the little dolls and one can’t have all the stories, creates too much clutter for me.

We have now tried three Toniebox 2 units, and unfortunately every one has had major issues.
The first Toniebox constantly needed to be restarted and would sometimes fail to turn on even when it was fully charged and plugged in. Customer support was helpful and sent us a replacement.
Unfortunately, the replacement had many of the same problems, plus new ones. It would randomly play strange sounds (video of sound attached), the light ring on top eventually stopped working, and it would sometimes continue playing even after the Tonie figure was removed with no way to get it to stop.
We assumed these were just software bugs because the Toniebox 2 was so new, so we waited about six months before trying again and ordered a third one.
The third Toniebox has been even worse. It won’t even complete the setup process because it refuses to connect to our Wi-Fi. We’ve tried all of the troubleshooting steps in the app, and nothing has worked.
We’re returning this one as well. We’re incredibly disappointed because we’ve invested in 16 Tonie figures, and they’re essentially useless without a working Toniebox. We love the concept, but after three defective units, we’ve completely lost confidence in the product’s reliability.

I am extremely disappointed with both the quality of this product and the level of customer service I have received.
My Toniebox stopped working after only 6–7 months of normal use. I have invested over $400 in the Toniebox and Tonies, so having the device fail in less than a year is incredibly frustrating and unacceptable.
What has made this experience even more disappointing is the lack of accessible customer support. The company relies primarily on email, making it difficult to get timely assistance for an expensive product that is no longer functioning. No wonder why red is no longer an option to purchase. They are scam artists.
My interactions with customer support, including with Andrea, have not left me feeling that my concerns are being taken seriously.
As a single mom, purchases like this are a significant investment, and I expected a product that would last much longer than a few months. Instead, I am left with a non-working device and a frustrating customer service experience.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this product. The combination of poor durability and inadequate customer support has made this a very disappointing purchase.

These have been great for my kids. Screen free. I like that it magnetic so they can carry it around etc without worrying about whether it will fall off. Lots of different choices for stories. I have some creative ones as well- I would love to see the creative ones be a little easier loading things onto them.
We have 2 tonie boxes and lots of characters to put on them.

I got the Toniebox 2 for my child and it’s quickly become part of our daily routine. If you’re trying to cut down on screen time but still keep kids entertained, this is a really nice option.
Setup was easy and only took a few minutes. The box itself is soft and durable, which is perfect for little hands—it’s already been dropped a few times and still looks and works like new. My child was able to figure out how to use it right away, which I love because it encourages independent play.
The sound quality is clear and surprisingly good. The stories and songs are engaging, and switching out the Tonies figures keeps things fun and interactive. It’s simple enough that kids can control everything on their own without needing help.
A couple of things to keep in mind: the Tonies figures can add up in cost if you plan to get a lot of them, and you do need Wi-Fi at first to load the content. But once everything is set up, it’s very easy to use.
Overall, I’m really happy with it. It keeps my child engaged without screens and has been a great addition to our routine.

They are following the same trends as everyone else. Charge a fortune but fail to provide all components to use/charge their products. Unable to charge unless you also purchase a hdmi c box to plug it into the wall.

Can you fix this issue remotely? With update?
It is not functioning correctly.
It gets stuck in a repetitive loop. Then does its own reboot.

My toddler LOVES her Toni!! I was on the fence of buying her one but other toddler moms said theirs loved it so we got her one for Christmas. We have around 20 Tonies now. She plays with it as soon as she wakes up! Perfect for a toddle!

If like us, you are trying to cut down on screen time- this is the way to go! You will not regret this purchase and it will give you a bit of peace of mind knowing your kiddos are having fun screen-free time. My toddler loves his toniebox 2 and to pop on and off the different tonies he’s collecting. Night time routine has also gotten a lot easier for us as we just transitioned our boy to his room and his big boy bed, he looks forward to popping on his sleep time sheep tonie to start winding down for the night. 10/10 definitely recommend.

Worth the hype! My 15-month old is obsessed with it. She asks for it everyday and is entertained by it, even when playing in the background while she focuses on other toys. It’s pricey, but worth it!

Came used and won’t turn on.

I was really excited about the Tonnie box but my box is showing spinning rainbow lights for hours and will not get into pairing mode . Worked only well for a week

My 2 year old grandson is absolutely thrilled with it and uses it all the time. He is hearing impaired and has 2 cochlear implants and loves music so we thought it a very good addition. But would like to point out a problem with one of the tonies which can be corrected which is the Squirrel. I am sharing 2 photos. The squirrel has a very pointy hat, which my grandson placed on the box upside down and it made an indentation. Hopefully you can amenaza this for future buyers and uses. Thank you

I’m really upset honestly, I was really excited to get this for my daughter for Christmas. It worked for maybe two weeks and then completely broke. I tried all the ways to reset it and charging fully and it doesn’t respond. I tried to contact the company and no one gets back to me. They just say there’s a long wait. My family spent lots of money on figures for her for Christmas and now she can’t even use it. Feels like I just wasted money.

The Tonie’s box it so fun. I think I spend more time popping it to change the story/song. My 3yr old hasn’t mastered that part. But loves singing along
Stephanie
Purchased for grandson who is 15 months. He loves it and knows how to stop and start the music. Volume can be set and can’t be changed easily by him which I like so it doesn’t get too loud. Comes with a Tonie that has cute classic kids songs .
Jon
Broken. Terrible quality

This is an amazing audio player. I'm somewhat of a tech head, and I'm very impressed with the technology in the Toniesbox 2.
I can't wait until I give it to my grandkids for Christmas. I hope they like it as much as I do. They will get joy out of the customized Tonies that I made of me and my wife. I can't wait to see their face when our voices come the figurines/Toniesbox. I will post an update after Christmas.
Update 12-26-25: They love it!
Sandra Johns
Got this for my 1 year old. I wasn’t sure if she was old enough yet but luckily she immediately took to it! We’ve already started adding more tonies to her collection.

My family has been avid Tonie fans for the last 2 years and my daughters have quite a big collection of Tonies and 2 Tonie boxes. I was really excited about the prospect of a Toniebox 2 and the idea that it has so many additional features than the originals. I really wanted to like this updated product. Here is the overall scoop.
1. The look and feel of the Tonibox is similar, although this one has much more rounded corners and a softer bottom since it doesn't have the charging base.
2. As mentioned above, there is no charging base. This Toniebox advertises being safe for 1+ due to the ridiculously short charging cable. Using this cable posed quite a logistical challenge as it doesn't come with the plug adapter, and due to the short nature of the cable, any standard outlet would leave the Toniebox hanging. Also the charging cable is a double sided USB C. Fortunately I have a power strip that has a USB C slot so I was able to set this on the ground next to the power strip. Beware of this so you can plan accordingly.
3. When setting this up on the app, there are two modes: 1+ and 3+. It's important to note if you select the 1+ mode, you will NOT be able to play any Tonies while charging the Toniebox. This is quite a change from the original Toniebox as that one we keep docked at all times in our daughters rooms and this guaranteed a full charge at all times.
4. The top of the Toniebox is notably different having a full LED lightbar with multiple colors. While Tonies are playing, the light bar will shine brightly and either go around in circles or stay stagnant. Fortunately, there is the capability of dimming the light or turning it off from the app.
5. Setup of the Toniebox initially was fairly straightforward.
6. My husband is the one who has the Tonies app on his phone. He left while I was testing some Tonies on the box today and to my surprise I encountered several issues. First, when placing a Tonie that had never been played on the box before, it gave me a "Cat" error. Halfway through the error, the Toniebox began stuttering and got stuck like a broken record. This went on for quite a while before it turned itself off. I then attempted to place a Tonie that had been previously played and synced with the box, and after a few seconds after playing the story, it began stuttering again like a broken record. When looking at the manual, there was no mention or troubleshooting steps. I searched online and apparently this is an "Incorrect WIFI password" error. I didn't do anything with my WIFI and the only change was that my husband with his app were away from the box. This is important to note as if you have any other caregivers for your kids that may not be in control of your Toniebox app, the Toniebox can become very glitchy. I ended up performing a factory reset on the Toniebox. This caused a lot of issues when my husband came home and tried to sync it again. It gave him some very odd connection errors. He tried connecting it via our WIFI and via a phone hot spot and ultimately had to reset it again for it to work.
7. The Toniebox has a few new features. As mentioned, there is a brand new lightbar which also helps determine the volume level of the Toniebox. The higher the volume is, the more the circle at the top lights up until it is a full circle. The lowest volume is pretty soft. Another new feature is that there is a sleep timer. This is great if you have kids that love to listen to Tonie stories as they are falling asleep. Again, note that if you selected the 1+ mode, you will be unable to playback the Tonie if you charge your box at night. There are also multiple game features, however, you will need to purchase each game and the controller knob separately. It looks like the standalone knob is $14, and each game is about $25. You can also get some combos of a game plus the controller for $35. This is pretty steep and I am not sure if I will be purchasing one to try it. Another new feature is that the Toniebox 2 utilizes bluetooth headphones. It looks like there are now Tonie Bluetooth Headphones available ($35 cost) and it sounds like currently the box is not compatible with other brands of bluetooth headphones (but promised to roll out an update that would make it compatible soon). The original box had a headphone jack and you could use any chorded headphones with it. This is a big change, especially for younger listeners who may want access to their Toniebox on a long trip. My 5 and 3 year old daughters currently do not have any bluetooth headphones.
Overall, given the connectivity issues and significant glitches we had with this box, compared to 0 issues with the original box, I think if you already own a Toniebox, it's not really worth doing an upgrade. I hope that these glitches are temporary and can be ironed out with a software update. The new features are cool, but expect to spend a lot more money to be able to take advantage of most of the new features. I really wanted to like this but it fell short for me.

I ordered the new Toniebox 2 Audio Player starter set in Moon Gray that came with Playtime Puppy.
Playtime Puppy plays for just under an hour and sings all the kiddos favorite songs like Baby Shark, Wheels on the Bus, and other ckassics, sure to be a favorite❤️.
The Toniebox 2 is a nice step up from the original Toniebox with a very convenient USB-C to USB-C charging cable so it’s much easier to charge and connect. This one also has the ability to continue playing while charging. They are very well made and so easy for the kids to operate with a quick pinch of the ears, a tap on the sides to skip. New one has 4 times the storage as the original at 32 GB and age range to 5+, and can play games with the interactive game top and features for older players. Great value as it grows along with your little ones and will fit their play needs as they age. So many songs, stories, and games and Tonies you record yourself. Limited only by your imagination. Fantastic Function.

We are tonies professionals in this house so I was excited to see what upgrades came with their new box. From the kids perspective: it’s the same user friendly features as before, pop in the character and it will play away. I think my littles like that the ring light stays on during play, rotating in different colors. Parent perspective: I like the softer edges on the box, as well as the ability to set volume limits for certain times of day. Battery life and sound quality seem comparable to me on both the new and old box. I also like that the charger is the more universal USB-C but will agree with others that the length of the cord they give you is difficult to reach to any actual plug. If you are new to tonies it’s a great investment to go with the newer box, but if you have old boxes not sure there are enough features to warrant replacing them.

This has been the best thing I got my 4 and 2 year old!! My 4 year old gets bored during naptime for my 2 year old and always wants to watch tv, now he uses this and loves it during that time. He can use it by himself which is great for me. Even my 2 year old can do it. I love the sleep feature as it has helped my kids be more comfortable going to bed at night. The tonie box itself is really durable through a few falls. The characters are definitely pricey but we are just going to collect them over time!!

We’ve had the original Toniebox for years and love it, but this new version is definitely an upgrade in sound. The speaker quality is much better — the audio is clearer and richer, and the box itself feels sturdier and thicker.
I haven’t figured out how to use the sunrise alarm feature yet (it’s not very intuitive in the app), but I’m looking forward to trying it once I do. My only real complaints are about charging. The new version no longer uses a docking station, which I actually liked on the original. The included USB-C cord is very short and doesn’t come with a wall plug. The battery life is about 10 hours, so we’ll need to charge it weekly, which might get annoying.
I haven’t tried the game settings yet, but they sound promising as my son gets older. I do wish Tonie had included at least one sample game and a controller with the unit, considering the price. Still, overall it’s a great update to a product we already enjoy.

This is a pretty impressive Toniebox!
Honestly, this feels basically exactly the same as the first one, just with 1) a colored ring on top, 2) different charger, 3) supports new features, and 4) is more padded and soft.
Okay so first thing I'm going to mention is the negative and then we can get into everything else.
The charging cable on this is ridiculously short. Like, seriously it's measured in centimeters if I remember correctly in the thing that keeps it wrapped up in the box, it's that small. As you can see in the image, it's not even longer than my hand, it's that tiny. The little wrapping that holds the cord closed in the box had images to try and make it look like this cable is shorter to prevent risk of it wrapping around a kids neck and injuring/choking them, but I really think this is just a cost saving measures. Pretty much everyone now has charging cables all over their house, usually within easy reach of children, that are 10x longer than this cord is, and that's not a danger so why would this be.
Also, the cable doesn't even come with a brick or anything, it's literally just a cable that's so short it can't even reach from the outlet to the toniebox 2 if the outlet is at a normal height. That's just insane.
Now, I have plenty of USB-C chargers around the house and this works with those fine so it's not a concern for me, but just really wanted to point that out.
Anyways, besides my frustration with the charging situation, everything else about this is great!
The toniebox 2 keeps all the same good and durable design of the original toniebox, but now it's even more durable and the padding and overall durability on this is insanely increased. Seriously, my kids and I were (jokingly but seriously) slamming it against our heads to show how soft it is now, it's that padded and save for little kids. Absolutely love that. The ears are still kind of pointy and hard, so you gotta be careful a little one doesn't fall on those, but overall it's much safer and more padded/durable than the previous toniebox design.
The colored ring on top is cool! It doesn't really do anything if you don't have the new rotating attachment thing to go with it, but I you have that it ads a lot of cool new features and games for kids which is really clever and well designed. (It doesn't come with that little rotating attachment though, gotta buy that extra).
The toniebox in my opinion I think does have someone new volume implementation, it seems like the amount of volume you add/remove using the volume buttons is decreased so you get more control over the sound level which is nice, and in my opinion it does seem like the volume can get louder than the previous toniebox, but I never really needed it to be louder anyways so I think it's just as good as it was before.
Overall this toniebox 2 is fantastic, and probably a worthwhile upgrade if you want to have any of the new features like the rotating dial games, colored light rings at the top, USB-C charging, more padding and better durability, all of that is definitely worth it I think, and if I remember correctly from their advertising material the battery life is increased as well (wasn't able to really test this yet, we've only been using it for a few days and we don't use it for super long periods of time, just during naps or quiet time) so that's definitely nice to have. I give this toniebox 2 a 10/10, definitely recommend, it's a great upgrade to the toniebox and we're very happy with it!

Toniebox 1 is great, I own it and about 50+ Tonies and accessories. Additionally whenever I had issues Tonies responded within a day with a quick solution.
Toniebox 2 is horrible.
They got rid of the charging stand, so you now have to plug it in directly to USB-C. The cord it comes with is only about 5 inches long, not long enough to reach a usb wall outlet or anything - you’d need a USB charging device basically flush with the ground. So in trying to make things safer for kids, they ignored real world user experience design and ended up making it less safe.
Additionally, none of the new features work. I bought a number of the play discs and the play button thing - all are a horrible buggy experience and worthless.
You’re paying more money for a much worse experience with no benefits over the Tonies 1.
Lastly, their support is now horrible. The Tonies 2 package and accessories I purchased were $250ish total and now 3 days later I’m still sitting here with worthless hardware.
I suggest you stick with the Tonies 1 if you have it. Only buy the Tonies 1 if you don’t have it. Wait 2-3 years for them to get their stuff together before considering the Tonies 2, it’s obviously an alpha product they are charging full price for
