I bought this product and after installation I took a closer look at the box it came in. It said that it only offers 900 Joules of protection, not the 1500 Joules that’s advertised in the product description.

Not 1500 joules as advertised up to 08/06/2025. 900 joules, on the box.
While still higher than any other advertised rating for combination surge receptacle… These were advertised as 1500 joules.
See picture.

I use this product in my ceiling to help protect my projector for my home theater. No complaints as of yet it was easy to install and is a small green light on it to let me know it's functioning.

We purchased a new washer. The new washer has much more in the way of electronics than our 20yr old model. We thought a dedicated surge protector would give us extra protection. The plug was easy to install. Went in with no problems. The only thing I would suggest is getting a larger cover plate. The cover included did not cover the old opening. Went to Home Depot and got a larger one for .69 cents.
Happy with purchase. The plug has a green indicator light showing the plug is surge suppressor mode. An added bonus is the green light serves as a night light. Would recommend

One thing to note if you don't have a "whole home" surge protector, this unit is only rated for 900 joules.
Although that may be good for a receptacle style unit, when compared to a standard power strip style surge protector, it is far less. Without a whole home protector in place, this may easily be overwhelmed. So if that is the boat you are in I suggest a power strip style surge protector.
Without a whole home unit in place, I would ONLY use this in an incredibly tight location where you have zero other alternative and can't use a power strip style unit.
Installation is not hard but it is very thick/deep compared to a standard outlet This can make it difficult to install depending on the depth of your outlet box and/or how much wiring is in there. Just something to be aware of.
The unit did not come with a wall plate even though in the customer questions the manufacturer themselves say it does.
Upon initially trying to plug something it, I could not get anything to go in all the way. The plug would only go halfway or part way into the outlet (see photo).
Eventually I applied force of the hulk/godzilla, not caring if it broke. The plug finally went in all the way. So if you are at that point , just keep trying. It will eventually give in. ;)
