Stopped Working after 5 Months

The light seemed to be great, but after 5 months the light no longer works and the display says UPDATE and there appears to be no fix for this issue.

Powerful Little Light

Super easy to use, amazingly bright, and perfect for on-the-go shooting. The wide range from warm to cool tones (plus RGB!) makes lighting any scene a breeze. Compact, rechargeable, and reliable. An absolute must-have for creators.

Used warmer light for this shoot.

The light that will brighten your life lol

Bought this for my fugifilm instax mini evo. great little light just what my mini evo needed. Light is very simple to use and operate has a large adjustment capabilities to the lighting effects. best part the light gets very bright you can control the Intensity of it . Feels very sturdy and looks great battery life seems very good. So far. We'll see how it does in the long run highly recommend, if you're looking for a small, bright, simple to use light

Add some color to your photos!

Love. Is easy to use and has many settings. Is chargeable too! Love that there are brightness settings.

Fantastic until it wasn't :(

This thing is great and without an attachment I noticed it's a fun nightlight to carry around the house at bedtime. But it stopped working after only maybe 100 hours total use max. Also why not label the switch on/off? I'll still give it 3 stars because I liked it so much but it should last longer.

Small, powerful and fun light.

Very easy to use and powerful. I love being able to easily switch colors and brightness without having to menu dive or read a manual every time. I use it for accent lighting my scale model photography and it is perfect for that. The blue light in my attached picture was made with this light.

A handy light

It is very convenient to use, with various modes like Blue or Red flashing, Faulty Bulb or Fireworks mimicking the actual things.

It can go all the way to very bright to the point you wish it had an extra diffuser tho I wish it could have focusing option.

Starightforward to operate, the battery life is good.

With a discount coupon makes it a must have for occasional photographer to throw in a bag or pocket.

Bright light but bad build

I bought a uUlanzi product before this and was very satisfied with the build quality. This has a great light for mobile videography but the hinge doesn't lock won’t stay in place and just hangs/dangles. Disappointing.

Versatile video light with lots of features in a small package

This RGB video light from Ulanzi is loaded with useful features, in a very light and compact unit. It's not going to light an entire room, but it is plenty bright enough to be used for lighting selfies or small groups, or as a key light in an interview type setting. The light is also dimmable from 0-100% in 1% increments, so there is a lot of control.

If you are trying to match the ambient light, there are more than enough color settings to choose from. From 2500K-9000K (very warm to very cool), and every hue in the spectrum.

There are also 18 scene lighting effects, such as "Cop Car", "Fireworks" and "Strobe" as well as red, blue and green "Flash" if you want to really spice things up.

It's been fun trying out different lighting scenarios on portraits, especially with such a wide range of colors to choose from.

The battery life seems to be as advertised. On high power you should get about 90 minutes out of a full charge. I find it helpful to simply switch the light off between photos or videos in order to preserve battery life.

It even comes with a small hex key to adjust the tightness of the pivot on the cold shoe mount.

I have only two issues with this light. The first is trivial perhaps, but should be pointed out nonetheless. One of the advertised features is that the back of the light is magnetic, meaning it could theoretically be mounted on something metal, but the magnet is not quite strong enough to keep the light from sliding down the metal surface, and the dial used to select functions and adjust brightness sticks out from the rear surface just enough that the back will not sit totally flat on any surface.

The second issue I have is the control dial. It has thin ridges all around it, but does not offer enough of a tactile grip to easily rotate the dial. It would benefit from either larger ridges or some sort of rubber coating to make it easier to rotate.

Overall, I am very pleased with this light. I've found it to be very useful in a variety of settings. I will update this review if I encounter any issues, but so far so good!

Awesome bright color light

This is the perfect compact device to mount to a camera and creatively change the color of scenes you're shooting. The user interface is simple and really nice to use, the light can get super birght and the colors are pure. The hot shoe fits perfectly on each of my cameras, and I love the tightening method to make sure it's in place. I've used mine for a while and the battery still hasn't died, so that part is excellent. This is just a great purchase for photography!

Great, lightweight addition for a small phone cam setup, but short battery life

For what it is: I love this little light. It’s a budget option, for sure, but it is also lightweight and versatile—so I find myself reaching for it in all sorts of cases, whether it’s to attach to anything via a clip, or to slip on the cold shoe on my camera cages and cold shoe accessories.

Coming in such a small form factor, it’s not surprising that the battery life is less than stellar. And to be fair: the short battery life IS advertised. So this is something that is more useful for short shoots, otherwise it’s gonna be plugged in during a longer live stream.

Also, given that it’s mini—it isn’t the brightest light. But it’s surprisingly bright for such a small unit and perfect for my “creator” uses. It has several pre-set modes to cycle through, adjustable kelvin color temperature (for RGB white light), and a color spectrum to cycle through. Color accuracy is good enough here, but note that this isn’t perfect color rendering.

All in all, it’s got a good mix of options in a budget light that I can certainly recommend it for those looking for a little rechargeable light with feature-packed options in their mobile setups.

just OK light.

It's handheld / clip or shoe.

To my eye it's lighting capability is about like a small LED flash light

EXCEPT for the advantage of several colors.

At this price point it may be nice for some but certainly not very good / clear lighting.

I was looking for a small light that didn't have the haze of LED's

but I don't know what I was thinking since this lighting is an LED panel.

Nifty little video night!

A portable video light is a must for any videographer's camera bag. You never know when you're going to need a bit more light. This video light by Ulanzi as small and compact, meaning it'll fit into even the smallest of bags. Don't let it's size fool you though, this thing can put out good light! It has three main modes: White, RGB, and "Scene" modes. In white mode, the light produces a white light which you can adjust the temperature. In RGB mode, you can set the light to any color you want. In "Scene" mode, you can choose form a number of lighting effects like "Lightning", "Candle", and "Cop Car" (they do what you'd think they'd do). Of course, you can adjust brightness freely in all of these modes. The light also comes with a cold shoe mount, so you can mount it on top of your camera if you'd like. Or, you can slide off the mount to reveal a standard 1/4" tripod mounting hole.

My only small nitpick with this light is the control wheel. The light is controlled by a small wheel in the back of the light, but I don't find the wheel to be grippy enough for me to operate the light without my finger constantly slipping. I would've likes for the wheel to be extruded from the body a bit, or be made out of a gripper material, that way I can make adjustments more easily. It's just a small gripe, and definitely won't stop me from using the light, but it's somewhere that I think can be improved.

Overall, I really like this light. It's small, bright, and convenient to use in my video project. Highly recommend!

Almost Perfect

There's not much to ask for when it comes to a portable LED light.

1. It's bright.

2. Multiple mounting options with cold shoe and tripod screw.

3. Multiple modes (probably just for fun, and not real use).

This light's got it all. The only issue is in its usability and that's why I gave it 4*.

1. The knob is really annoying to use because it's not fun to turn. The knob is inset, and not against the edge where you can use your thumb to push it up or down. Instead, you have to push down on the dials face and turn it. It works. It's not great.

2. When you turn the light on, it doesn't turn on like a light, but needs to be 'booted' like a computer. Small gripe - but call me spoiled for expecting it to turn on without a 4s boot screen.

I would still recommend this light if this is the product you're looking for.

For those "Just in Case" Instances When Shooting

This compact, versatile light could be used for both video and photos. In the time I've been trying this light out, I could find this handy when on the go. The small, compact form factor makes it easy to throw in any gear bag, making it a good backup light for fill, practical, or even providing a mood in a shot. There's a cold shoe mount and a versatile exchangeable clip, making it easy to set up on camera or clip a subject or object for light. There's a built-in diffuser, making it pretty much ready to go out of the bag. The push button dial of the light makes it easy to switch between white, RGB, and special FX lighting, as well as the intensity. This has been one of the simplest lights to operate as I'm not fumbling around trying to remember which buttons or combination of buttons to press, making it quick to set up. It's easy to set the kelvin of the white light and hue of the RGB or switch FX lighting with the press and movements of the dial. The adjustable intensity of the light makes it easy to use as a fill for interviews or that extra pop of light during a dim shoot. I thought The special effects lighting was kind of gimmicky, but the glowing TV effect got my creative juices flowing as you can use it to simulate a TV in front of a person or to the side and get the video in camera instead of creating it in post. Overall, I think the small size along with the intensity of light it's able to provide for something so small, and being able to recharge USB-C is great to have in your gear bag.

Compact little light, quite bright for its size

This is a great little video light for content creators and vloggers that need a little extra fill light when shooting their videos. It is quite bright for its size and compact. It has all the regular features you come to expect from these lights… ability to change the rgb color, color, temp, and includes different lighting effects. Only reason I docked it a star is that it feels a bit plasticky, kind of like my sons toddler toys. Coming from Ulanzi, I would have expected some thing feeling a bit more professional. 🙁

Luminance After Dark

Excellent little light that packs a punch!

This is a must-have for anyone that creates videos or photographs. It's a pocket-sized little powerhouse that can be set up on the fly to give a splash of ambiance or color to any scene. I use it primarily for still shots, but it can be used for videos as well. The operative word for this thing is F.U.N.

I pop it on the hot shoe of my camera, set the type of lighting effect I require, and it does the job. I find the solid white light exceptionally handy. The white balance can be dialed in to a specific temperature. This is great for adding fill light on a subject. The intensity of light on all the modes can be dialed up or down, there is a lot of creator control on this thing. The RGB setting is great to give a scene a colored gel effect. I've used it for tabletop still life photography as well. It comes with a clip so you can set the light up in a specific location away from the camera. I've used it on a cold shoe light stand too.

The battery life is impressive so far. Like most manuals these days, this bugger is hard to read. I would recommend photographing the pages in the manual so you can zoom in and SEE what is written. The print is super small so unless you carry around a magnifying glass equipped with a light, forget about reading it.

Handy light - Good features

This light has lots of uses for photography and video. It has a cold shoe for camera mounting and a clip mount, both fit the light slot just fine. Pop the cold shoe attachment onto your camera for white video light or constant on photo light. It has full spectrum RGB colors for lighting effects on background or on model for drama effects. It also has multiple blinking effects for video if you have the need. It's a small and handy light for the photo bag. Recommend.

Palm sized, flexible, nice LED display, stiff settings dial

Palm-sized, flexible, nice LED display.

It comes with a fit-in-your-palm square RGB light with a textured white plastic finish, an interchangeable cold shoe adaptor or clip, a small hex key, and a USB-C to USB-A charging cable.

The light has a cold shoe on top. On one side there's a power switch and a charging port. The bottom is where you can change between cold show or clip. It's a simple slide-in and out swap with no locking mechanism. The cold show and the slide area have a 1/4-inch hole for mounting. The clip is great if you want to mount it on top of your computer monitor.

The back has a nice resolution LED screen which shows mode, luminance, color temperature, Hue, and effects name depending on the mode you're in. There's a single dial that spins to change levels or presses to toggle function. A short press moves between luminance and the function of the mode. A long press changes the mode.

Unlike so many other RGB lights the Hue reference is full color and integrated into the LED screen so that as you change the Hue an indicator dot shows the color you're sitting over. The Hue moves in five-degree increments. Color temperature moves in 100-degree increments and Luminance moves more precisely in single percentage points. It was to see the luminance setting is remembered within the mode rather than universal for the device.

The instructions mention a four-hour change time and over ninety minutes run time so be aware that once you've drained the battery there's going to be a significant wait to charge.

I found the dial a bit stiff to turn so I tended to grab the unit with both hands and also caused it to toggle between settings or mode accidentally. This is a bit awkward and can result in accidentally changing settings. I wish there were a separate function/mode toggle. I also thought it might be too easy to slip out the cold shoe/ clip mount since there's nothing to hold it in place. The hex key isn't explained in the instructions but it seems its only use would be to tighten the pivoting joint on the cold shoe. There's no place to mount or store the hex key other than in the box so this is likely to get lost.

It's a nice light within its limits. But there are some design shortcomings. The LED is standout and the light is very useful given the shortcomings.

It is very bright, but controllable.

This is camera mounted video light whose color temperature and brightness can be adjusted. I hadn't realized that it came with a bunch of special effects -- some of which are good, and some are disappointing. For example, the "cop car" effect is quite nice with flashing red and blue lights. However, the "candle" effect leaves lot to be desired -- it is a very slowly varying intensity light that fades in and out slowly. This is unlike any candle that I have ever seen -- which tend to flicker. This is a pity as it is just firmware on the device that controls the light intensity and color.

Having said that, the leds are bright (when turned up all the way) and the color can be varied.

It has 60 LEDS -- 20 of which are (very) warm white, 20 are cool white, and 20 look like full RGB. In the color temperature mode, it uses the 40 white LEDS in varying proportions. In the Hue mode, it just uses the RGB leds, and in the effects mode it makes use of all the LEDS (though I suspect each mode only uses one set of 20).

I ran the battery all the way down and then measured how much electricity was used to charge the battery -- and the answer was around 2200mAh. This seems entirely reasonable.

Fun, useful, and small light

This light is great for doing colored accents in the background for video, but it also puts out a decent amount of light for its size. There are 3 modes: color temp from 2500-9000K, RGB mode where you can set any color you want, and a "special effects" mode with things like police car, TV simulation, slow and fast change through the whole spectrum, etc.

It has a removable male cold shoe mount on the bottom that can be swapped with an included spring clip. Charging is via USB-C with an included cable and so far the battery seems to last a good while but I haven't really left it on to drain it.

The back of the light has a tiny OLED display which shows the color temp or FX mode and the % strength of the light. It is really bright and easy to see. It has a magnet in the back so you can stick it to a metal surface. The magnet seems a little weak, but the unit is so lightweight that it doesn't need to be terribly strong.

I also have the very similar Ulanzi VL49 light which has all the same color functions and FX. The main differences with this U60 is that it has the removable mount and sprint clip and a rotary wheel/button combo for control whereas the VL49 has 4 buttons. The OLED on the U60 is color too, which is a nice touch. I think this light comes in black as well.

S

SilverStreak

Nice light that includes a mode for lighting special effects

The Ulanzi U60 RGB video light has three modes: color temperature mode; RGB (colored light) mode; and lighting effects mode. The color temperature mode supports adjusting the color temperature from warm (2500K) to cool white (9000K). The RGB mode supports adjusting the light color through the colors of the rainbow. The lighting effects mode supports 18 different lighting effects (a subset is shown in the attached video.) All three modes also support setting the brightness of the light. The light has a small LED display on the back that indicates the mode selected, the brightness setting and mode-specific information (color temperature, color, which lighting effect.)

The light comes with a USB-C cable for charging (no USB adapter), a small clamp to attach the light to a cell phone or other device, a cold shoe adapter and an Allen wrench for adjusting the tilt for the clamp. The light contains a number of rows of LEDs behind a white diffuser. Different LEDs light up with varying intensity to produce different colors and to vary from warm to cool. The light is a lightweight gadget and does not feel awkward when attached to a phone.

The lighting effects mode can be used with video to create special lighting effects. Most effects do not provide continuous lighting, so the lighting effects mode works best for videos rather than photography. The color temperature and RGB modes work with either video or photography.

The selector wheel can be a little bit awkward to use but does get the job done. Rather than a separate Allen wrench that could get lost, it would have been better if the clamp had a thumb screw or other attached mechanism to adjust the tilt.

This is a nice, well-made, small light at a great price. In a single package you have a light that can be used for video or photography at moderately close distances, while also having a light that provides specialized lighting effects for video if needed.

Meets all of its specificaitons, solid light

This RGB video light has 3 main modes:

1. White light, with adjustable color temperature (from 2,500k to 9,000k) and luminosity (1-100%).

2. Hue mode, with 0-360% color wheel and 1-100% brightness.

3. A special effects mode with 18 different light flashing patterns.

The first two modes are useful, and the third might be useful in very specific situations. Overall I was happy with this light, as it met all of the specifications published in the manual I tested (runtime = 98 minutes, battery capacity of 2.5AH) and everything worked as expected.

It has a magnet where you can stick the back up on a steel surface, a cold shoe mount on the top to add something above it, and comes with 1/4-20 tripod mount, cold-shoe attachment point, and a clamp to attach it to cell phones or tablets.

The only criticism I have is that sometimes when you are spinning the dial to adjust the color temperature or brightness, if you push just a little too hard it will register an "up" or "down" action and you will find yourself adjusting the other setting by accident.
