Reception is poor!

Premium price for a slightly below average scanner, my old 25 year old scanner has a better reception then this one, I will keep it and add a larger antenna.

Unit was defective upon arrival

As soon as I powered the scanner on I got an error message and a White screen. I googled it to find out my scanner is completely bricked. I paid almost $500 for this and didn't get to scan a single time with it. Very disappointing to say the least.

Didn’t last long

I purchased in October of 2022 and of course I’m right past the 1 year warranty mark and just tried to move the antenna for better service and this happened. I’m super upset- haven’t heard back from the company so I’m going to guess I’m just out of luck and will have to buy a brand new one. Besides that it worked fairly well.

It made it all good. The device looks and acts brand new. The shipping was as quoted, if not a bit long. No scratches and working well. I will use the company again.

I just bought a new device (06/05/2025) and it's the first new one I have ever bought. Save the money and buy one brand new. The last two I bought looked okay, but were probably dropped a few times and badly damaged on the inside. Careful not to drop the unit as the antenna stud easily breaks. The innards of the HP2 leave a lot to be desired as the screw studs disentigrate. I now know that it's ALL HP2'S that have this issue. Do not drop these. Period. It's like they're made of glass. I bought new and intend to send it for repairs when this one is damaged. Otherwise these are GREAT scanners.

Best user friendly scanner on the market

I love everything about this scanner, very easy to use and picks up most everything from 3 counties away.

The charging take long time

Returned HP2 Sentinel Software failed to update the HPDB or firmware

6/25/2020 Sentinel Software failed to update database and firmware upgrade. Indicated that the 7/20/2014 is the preset. Tried only the master database update and it errored and did not connect, popup said "updating HPDB failed operation canceled, failed connection to connect to the remote server ". Tried three computers same results, will not update master database. I have no choice but to send it back. I liked the unit but I give up. there is no reset button either but there is a clear user setting in Sentinel which worked to reset my input but the software is still not working to update HPDB.

Must buy for scanner enthusiasts

Where I live , reception wasn't good. I ordered a wide range 25 mhz - 800 mhz antenna works great..

No signal

After having this scanner I have learned that I don't have any signal bars, meaning the grey bars in background are confusing. I did some research and seen others have same problem.
