I am reviewing: 5.8 GHz Wireless TV Speakers for Hard of Hearing, Portable TV Speaker Sound Amplifier with 0ms Audio-Vdeo Sync, 20Hrs+ Playback, HDMI(ARC)/3.5mm AUX/Coax/Opt/USB, All Cables Included
I have a Samsung Smart TV, and so I had all of the options to choose from for connecting. My TV setup had some notes that advised the Optical output port would be the one that provides the best sound. I connected it, no sound. So I switched to HDMI (ARC) and still, no sound. Back to the instructions, and I had to go into the expert settings to choose a different option. Voilá! It works. I switched it back to the optical cord and interestingly enough, the TV speaker, which is good to begin with, AND this speaker box are both working together.
For me, this is the best of both world. The TV sound is better, but sometimes the speech is so quiet, we can't hear it. Having this by our side to turn it up is very helpful.
It is also very helpful to have the earbud option. I can watch TV while my husband sleeps. He's a light sleeper.
I docked one star because, while there isn't any perceptible delay while watching the TV, when I use the computer to stream shows, there is a very slight delay on this speaker. That's when I can just reach over and turn the knob to off, and use only the TV speakers, or turn down the tv speakers and use this one by my side.
After using this for several days, I have noticed one small glitch. While using the speaker for several hours, a couple of times the Bluetooth connection was lost and reconnected. It took only a few seconds, but it’s worth mentioning.
Overall, this is not a quality speaker for those looking for excellent sound. It is for those who need a little sound boost at hand, or if your TV speakers don't work.
