Quiet and great value ceiling fan and light

Great fan with low noise. Relatively easy to install. Very good appearance with high quality blades and lights. Good value for the cost relative to similar fans on market. Easy to mount to replace an aging fan.

Nice white fan to customize living areas!

This is a high quality fan. Straight out of the box I can tell how sturdy the fan blades are. I have not been able to have it installed yet and I will update this review once I have. I am getting this fan to replace a fan that has become very noisy over time. The fan has 3 light fixtures which will help it to be brighter in our bedroom. The instructions make it seem easy to install. The size of the fan will fit our bedroom well.

Smooth, Quiet, and Perfect for a Small Room

I installed this 42-inch Westinghouse ceiling fan in a smaller bedroom, and it’s been a great upgrade. The brushed nickel finish looks clean and modern, and the reversible blades give you options depending on the room’s style. Once it was up, it immediately made the space feel more finished and pulled everything together nicely.

Performance wise, this fan really surprised me. At 42 inches It moves a solid amount of air for its size and runs quietly, even on higher speeds. There’s no annoying wobble or motor noise, which is huge if you’re using it in a bedroom or office. The reverse function is also a nice touch I can already tell it’ll be useful year-round instead of just in the summer.

The built-in light kit puts out a soft, comfortable glow that’s bright enough without being harsh. Overall, it feels well-made, smooth in operation, and dependable. If you’re looking for a stylish, quiet fan for a smaller room, this one does exactly what it should and does it well. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Fan works very well. Some hassles during install.

This is a 42 inch ceiling fan good for a small room. It comes with a light kit and 3 LED bulbs, as well as a small blank plate to install instead of the light kit if so desired. The fan does not come with a remote control, but the canopy has lots of room to hold a receiver if an aftermarket remote kit is purchased. The blades have a dark color and pattern on one side and a light color and pattern on the other, so owners can choose which looks best in their room.

Installing the fan was ok but there were some preventable issues that made things frustrating at times. On the positive side, the mounting bracket and its connection to the motor were done well; the motor can be temporarily hung from the bracket during installation so that one person can have both hands free to connect the wiring. Connecting the wires was also easy; there's no convenient place in the bracket to hold the connected wires, but I just ran them out one side of the bracket and curled them within the canopy. However, the mounting bracket is a bit too wide for the metal canopy that comes with the fan, making installation needlessly difficult and leaving a small gap between the rim of the canopy and the ceiling. Fortunately this gap isn't visually distracting and it doesn't move or vibrate when the fan is operating.

The worst part of assembling the fan was dealing with the blades. The blades are packaged separately from the metal brackets which attach the blades to the fan motor, and each blade attaches to its bracket via 3 small screws with fabric washers. The holes in these washers are too small for the screws, they can't be slid down the shaft of the screw. So, each washer needs to be manually threaded onto a screw before using the screw to attach blade to bracket. These screws and washers are tiny and extremely difficult to manipulate with adult-sized hands; in fact, all the screws that come with the fan are extremely short and have small heads, making any kind of hand turning a frustrating experience. Also, each washer needs to be manually threaded and turned all the way to the screw head, not just partially, to enable the screw to be fully installed. Fumbling with these screws added 10 minutes to the install process.

The last installation issue involved the light kit. They could have run less than half the length of wiring that they did in the light kit and everything would have been fine. All that extra length needs to be carefully curled and looped around and then stuffed into a tiny space by physically forcing the switch housing cap upward with one hand, while installing 3 more tiny screws into 3 more tiny holes with the other.

Now that I have it installed, I am very impressed by this fan. It looks and works great. It has the standard 3 speeds, and a winter/summer switch to reverse blade rotation (putting the switch in the down position circulates air downward and vice versa). The bulbs aren't dimmable unless purchasers supply their own aftermarket remote or dimmer wall switch. The fan works extremely well at maximum speed, as good as any other ceiling fan I've ever seen; completely whisper quiet and you have to look closely to see any wobble. I have three recommendations for installing this fan that will make peoples' lives easier. The first is to use a screwdriver with a magnetic tip! The second is to use different washers for the fan blade screws if at all possible; they will be facing the ceiling and not visible so it's ok if they're bigger than the screw heads. Finally, the 10 screws that connect the 5 fan blade brackets to the fan motor are pre-installed in the motor, and need to be removed and then re-inserted. The instructions don't mention this but it's much easier to remove these screws and their washers from the motor BEFORE attaching the motor to the ceiling. This is a very nice fan that I would order again.

Single speed fan, candelabra style light bulbs

I would say this is a standard basic ceiling fan. There is nothing that stands out about it either visually or operational where I would choose it above another ceiling fan. I had someone else put this together for me and install it in a 11 x 12 bedroom. He said he didn’t have any issues putting it together except for a couple of the screw holes. The directions say that the fan offers dark cherry or walnut colored fan blades. I had him display the darker side of the wood, but one side of the wood looked like a dull lighter brown color, not what I would consider dark cherry or walnut. I also think the size of the fan looks a little bit small for the room. I like that there are lights on the fan since I needed a better light source on the ceiling, however, the lightbulbs are candelabra style and they don’t put out as much light as I was hoping to have for the room It is a flush mount ceiling fan, there is no down rod that brings it vertically closer. The fan is quiet and provides a good amount of airflow but there is only one speed, so you really can’t adjust the air flow output. That is disappointing since sometimes I like to just have a little bit of breeze for air movement. The fan works as intended, nothing fancy, just a basic ceiling fan.

Good Fan, but Discrepancies with the Listing

We are in the middle of adding a new master bedroom suite to our old farmhouse, so this hasn’t been installed yet, as I ordered it in advance for installation. Nevertheless, we are hoping that with a well-known brand like Westinghouse that this should have good reliability. Moreover, I like that the LED bulbs are included, so I don’t have to hunt those down separately. However, after opening the box and inspecting everything, this looks close to what I wanted, but there are some discrepancies from the listing.

First, the color for the title and listing says "oil rubbed bronze" and looks closer to black in the pictures, which is what I wanted. However, the real thing certainly has a lighter, more brownish look for the base and connecting fan arms.

Furthermore, the listing says this model is ideal for rooms 10’ x 10’ or smaller and doesn't really address other sizes. I didn’t think this sounded right for a 42” size, and that was confirmed by researching online and again when the box arrived, which says that rooms up to 100 ft2 should use fan sizes 18”-42” and rooms up to 225 ft2 should use fan sizes 42” – 52”, so this model can really be used from <100 - 225 ft2, although ideal is probably somewhere in the middle.

The box says that the average annual energy usage for this fan should be $9, which is on the lower end of the range, so I am happy with our expected energy costs to run this. All around, we will probably keep this model. I just wish I had known it would have a lighter brown, rather than darker blackish color, as we are going for a modern farmhouse vibe with darker colors, and this doesn't fit with that as well as I would have liked.

An attractive ceiling fan

A very attractive ceiling fan with reversible blades for a preferred look. The detailed information indicated the bulbs were E26 bulbs which they are not. The fan comes with 4.5-watt candelabra bulbs. I would have preferred E26 base bulbs with ability to have 60-watt bulbs. The single high speed fan setting is great most of the time but there are times when a gentle breeze would be good. It is indeed quiet. The build quality seems to OK. Priced at the upper end of the range for a fairly basic ceiling fan

A Surprisingly Solid Fan With Really Nice Details

What stood out right away is that it actually comes with good quality bulbs, which is rare these days and honestly saves a trip to the store. The blades themselves feel sturdy and well made, not flimsy or bendy, but just know the setup takes a little time because you have to attach the metal blade brackets to each blade before mounting them onto the motor. It isn’t hard, just a bit of a process. The glass shades are another pleasant surprise. They’re thick, heavy, and feel like something that’s not going to crack the first time the room gets too warm or too cold. Once everything is assembled, the fan looks classic and feels solid, like something that’s going to hold up for years without giving you reasons to mess with it again.
