2 years in, through some trauma, snd still working

We gave my daughter this wonder buddy a couple years ago and I am writing a review now because she has really enjoyed using it on and off over the past 2 years AND it is still working... even after she LEFT IT OUTSIDE for Lord knows how many days. My husband threw it from the woods up onto the deck.. assuming it was trashed. There was water dripping out of the speaker and buttons... i opened it, dried out the inside.. and low and behold it works like new. Honestly no change in quality. Leave it to my kids to destroy things.. but this toy went into a dark place and made it out the other side unscathed.

Worth every penny!

I purchased this for my 19 month old son so we could have story time together before naps and bedtime. Straight out the box I turned it on to check out the quality. I’m extremely pleased with the WonderBuddy story box ☺️ it has tons of songs and stories, I’m familiar with most but there are a lot that will be new listens for me. The sound quality is very good even at max volume. The narrator for each song/story is delightful and draws your attention. The speaker is small and a nice weight, it doesn’t feel cheap, visually it looks exactly as pictured. Inside the package you receive:

3.Story writing kit and activity book

4.Small book that lists the songs and stories that are on the story box

5. Thank you card

6. User manual

The suggested age is 3+ but I think it’s perfect for children under 3 as well because of the nursery rhymes, children under 3 may not pay attention to the stories as much as older children but the stories will be there when they are ready.

I can’t speak for the battery life yet because I’ve had it for less than a day.

Overall I am pleasantly impressed with the WonderBuddy and would most certainly recommend and purchase again if needed…..

Best “toy” ever!

This is by far one of my favorite things my children own. It’s pretty incredible. The quality of the stories and songs are wonderful and the best thing is that I can add or delete songs. Just plugged it to my computer and added songs and other stories. I also deleted some Halloween content I wasn’t a fan of. The flexibility is wonderful and you can add so much to it. Can’t recommend enough and compared to other prayers this is a no brainer. It can also be used as a Bluetooth speaker.

Nice little music box

This was a perfect purchase and just what we were looking for. It’s a great size for little hands and very simple to use with easy buttons. My 5 year old with Down syndrome that loves music was able to quickly figure out how to turn it on, adjust the volume, and how to play her favorite songs. I have recorded about 6 songs so far with no issue. I played to songs on my phone via YouTube and hit the record button. All the recorded songs are all accessible in a playlist for easy access which is great. There are so many preloaded songs and stories that we have not even touched the surface of everything yet. I think this will be great for car rides and no screen time. If I have one criticism so far is the recorded songs are not as loud as the prerecorded audio so I’ll have to play around with it and see how I can record at louder volumes to see if that helps. Otherwise so far so good.

Simple audio player for kids with no screen — great idea, limited navigation

We received this player as a gift for our daughter when she was 2 years old. She really loved it — during the first month she barely allowed us to turn it off. The device is clearly designed for young children and is generally easy to use. The volume level is sufficient, and at times even too loud.

Cons and usage limitations

All content is divided into categories, with separate buttons for each category

When a category contains many tracks, it becomes difficult to find a specific one

At this stage, the sorting logic for custom tracks is unclear

In these cases, the lack of a screen is noticeable — a monochrome display might have been a reasonable compromise

When switching categories, the player does not remember the previously playing track and always starts from the first one

After turning the device on:

it resumes the last used category

but always starts from the first track in that category

If there is no interaction with the player for about an hour, it turns off automatically

when turned back on, it again starts playing from the first track in the category

Tracks cannot be fast-forwarded or rewound

if an audio file is long, it must be listened to from the beginning

No battery level indicator, making it hard to know when the device is about to run out of power

Summary

WonderBuddy is not a universal audio player, but a fairly simple device for young children. It works well if your priorities are no screen, good battery life, and the ability to upload your own content.

At the same time, navigation, playback logic, and category handling feel underdeveloped and can be frustrating for adults. The child enjoys the device, but from a usability perspective, there are noticeable limitations.

Stopped working after a few months

This was a really cool product that my kids loved, unfortunately, it stopped working less than four months after purchasing. So disappointed.

The WonderBuddy Kids Story Box is a wonderful educational tool disguised as fun. I love that it’s simple for kids to use independently, and the included DIY art kit inspires creativity by letting them write and illustrate their own stories. Durable, engaging, and educational—an excellent investment for both learning and play.

It's amazing

Highly recommend this product! I'm glad that I didn't buy those Yoto and Tonies thing. I hate to pay extra for cards, figurines and knowing that my kid would bend and throw it away those. Price for this is reasonable and everything are well-made. My toddler loves her little audio player and brings it everywhere she goes now.

Loved it....at first. Be aware of language and hidden advertising

Great alternative to some other story readers because it comes preloaded with stories and is much more affordable because of that. However, there are a few downfalls. Some of the stories are a little odd, nothing crazy, just odd. Several also include the phrase, "Oh my God!" which, I personally don't want my children to hear. But what caused me to actually write this review is that I just came across a commercial embedded in one of the stories urging children to subscribe to "crunch labs" founded by a very important and popular YouTuber! 🙄 Really? Like, really? No thanks. Won't recommend this product to friends any more.

THANK YOU!

I have only had it a day but will update after some months.

My 2yo loves playing music all the time and is always wanting mommy to play my Spotify which ties up my phone from the podcasts and calls I normally do during the day.

This is perfect!

I know it says for 4 and up but we aren’t involving the kit accessories at this time and will introduce them as age allows.

For now, the “radio” is sufficient to keep him occupied and engaged as well as learning. Especially WITHOUT a screen. 😃

I love the amount and variety of genres, along with options to upgrade and record your own.

10 out of 10 so far.

Comes with so much for the price!

WonderBuddy has been an absolute hit with my kids! My twins love using the audio storyteller during quiet time every day to listen to stories and songs. And my eldest really enjoys the included story kit and activity book. It’s an all around fantastic gift for children whole love to read, write and listen to stories.

There’s also so much included for the price! I love that the storyteller is already preloaded with over 500 songs/stories so I don’t have to go out and buy any additional items for it.

SCREEN FREE!

Got this toy for my daughter's birthday after seeing it posted on an influencer's social media. She is pretty obsessed with screen time and I'm wanting to get her something that entertains her without being on a screen all the time. Truthfully, I didn't know if it was going to work. Plus, the cost would be an investment. I'm happy to report she LOVES it. She was so excited to get it and it's the kind of toy that will last a while. Our favorite feature is recording ourselves to it. She gets to listen to her mommy anytime she wants. It's great for the car, bedtime, and so much more. I am VERY satisfied with this purchase. Oh, it's durable too. She dropped it from the top of her indoor playground -_-

Perfect screen free toy for toddler

I got this music box for my toddler to help reduce screen time. My toddler loves listening to music and stories. I like this product because the stories and music are preloaded and I don't have to buy any extras. I like that she can use this with headphones which makes this a great travel accessory. My toddler loves this a lot and loves to press all of the buttons on the box. It is easy for my toddler to use and turn on and off with the knob. The battery last a long time and is easy to recharge with the standard USB-C plug that's on the back side. I also like that the buttons on the top are well labeled for playing pausing a skipping. I also love that this kit comes with lots of activity books, stickers, flashcards.

Great for my preschoolers!

Lasted us about a year & a half before breaking. Love this! I just wish I could also delete from the favorites without having to reset it. Other than that, it is so great with a lot of options to listen to for littles!

Cute!

My daughter has been wanting a way to listen to audio books but isn’t quite ready for managing that. I had looked at the more popular option but you have to buy the device and each individual story - it would get very pricey quickly for something she’ll likely outgrow in a couple years. So, I decided to give this a try since it comes with 500 stories preloaded; a much better deal.

The technology is a little behind imo - I wish it had some way to see what stories were on it. As it is, you have to scroll through each category and then story in that category to pick what you want. I’d also like to be able to see a list of everything that’s on it. You can connect it to a computer and also record your own stories so you may also be able to access a list there.

I scrolled through a few of the stories and they seem to all be done in different voices, which is fun. It also comes with some story writing cards and books which actually are very cool. I can see using the cards for other things also.

All in all, for the price, I think she’ll really enjoy this for awhile. For the price compared to others, I think this is worth it.

Build Imaginations and Reading Skills Without Screen Time

I have three young girls, ages 3-7, in my life, and I want to nurture and encourage their imaginations while cutting down on screen time. This product offers all of that. They can listen and hear stories, rhymes, and music and then use their imaginations to build and record their own stories. There is an art kit, cue cards to help build their stories, stickers, and more. It is interactive, so it is a perfect opportunity to spend quality time with the girls and help them creatively build their imagination while learning. Fun while developing reading skills is an important component of teaching. Wonder Buddy offers all the needed materials to nurture and encourage the reading skills needed to succeed.

Fantastic kit for kids at home and on the go!

Excellent collection of stories and rhymes for kids. The activity set is what truly sets this package apart from the herd of other devices available in the market. This will definitely keep my kid engaged throughout the weekends, as well as on long flights. A must buy!

Fantastic Fables from near and Far-

I was searching for an audio “reader” that didn’t require a subscription or an iPad/internet connection. My 6 year old isn’t quite reading yet and there are days we don’t have time to read a story -this little unit is perfect! A small, handheld “radio” with pre-loaded stories, music, and a recording feature. The stories range from classic Aesop’s fables to Pinocchio, Wizard of Oz, space/sci-fi stories, to best-loved fairy tales such as the Elves and the shoemaker and Cinderella. There are both male and female “narrators” (some with British accents and others with American!). Some stories have soft music in the background while others do not -I find this variation a nice feature.

The buttons and knobs used for control are both intuitive and pleasant to use.

I love the rounded, compact design of the player -sound quality is quite clear, the charging port is convenient (a silicone flap protects the ports and the cord is a universal USB, so even if you lost the one that came with it, chances are your home would have a sore one in some drawer!). The symbols on the buttons are straightforward for a child to navigate -pretty easy for a child 4 and up to use this independently; a younger one may need a little help, but not much!

There’s even a headphone jack, so if you are traveling, your child can listen without disrupting those around them -great for travel, car commutes, and relaxing at home.

This will be under the tree at Christmas for our little one but would make a great gift for any occasion or Holiday. The unit even came charged -so your child can begin at once to enjoy the nursery rhymes and stories!

Very happy with the purchase - honestly, this little player is great for a wide range of ages, from probably around 2/3 (the nursery rhymes are great for all younger ages) to easily 5-8.
