Processing motion consumes battery. Solar struggles to keep up. Durable design. Easy install.
I have been a Wyze customer since early days of free cloud service. I have had a basic account since started charging but unfortunately does not include any newer cameras. While I could place a micro SD card in these Solar Cam Pan 2k and still use basic plan, I found the app limiting my capability between older cameras and newer. There was no way to isolate the basic plan on the same account. Problem mainly had to do with the free trial option soon as devices added. Choosing not to use the free trial did not seem to fall back on any basic plan as could not add to my existing. I was not getting notifications properly and setup did not seem to be acting as should. This forced me to go for the free trial on one camera but remaining three required me to upgrade, as if the free trial only permitted one time. Ultimately, I went with the unlimited for all my cameras because these cameras are not well suited for all motion detection only.
The AI features are a must if you want the solar power to keep up with the poor battery life. Three of my cameras do stay at about 90-100% but one loses about 20% everyday. This is even with full sun. If I turn off the camera, I only gain about 25% charge per day, which has taken three days to go from ~20% to 95%. What I can ascertain is that one camera has much more motion from cars and trees. While I was using zone detection to block out the vehicles, I failed to block out the trees. I'm hoping that will help once I finally get the battery charged back up. If this continues to be a problem, I'll have to swap out with a larger solar panel or do some tests to make sure not a bad one.
Installation was a breeze. This next generation uses small machine screws to attach the solar panel mount onto the battery with many warnings about not using incorrect screws into the battery. I guess this was an optional recall on the prior version as was not clear using incorrect screws. For the base adapter, you have option to screw into top for overhang or back for wall. The trick is if the solar panel is mounted on top of unit, have to have the base mounted out on the edge of the overhang - though gutters usually get in way. There is 117" of USB-C cable wrapped on the cable storage of solar panel. Thus, you can simply mount this in different location. I opted to keep all contained making removal from base easy (two tabs on each side pressed and slide out). It is recommended to charge up the units prior to setup. The USB-C port is on the bottom of the battery section that slides into the base and solar cable needs to be pushed in hard as good weather proofing exists. Once charged, you press the setup button, which requires manually forcing the motor to pan down as ports are on top between camera and battery. This was not very hard - just felt like something should not be done too often. Next to the setup button is the Micro SD card port. Everything is rubber coated or covered for excellent weatherproofing. I do suggest keeping under an eave much as possible to help. Setup in the app walks you through the installation also but can skip forward. To hang up, you really just push and snap into the mounted base. Position your solar panel and set your home view in the app setup. Three cameras only took me 20-30 minutes total.
The image is great and consistently recording in 2k on Auto. You do have option to change to 2k only or 360p, which wish had a 1080p option to help with battery life. 360p is just way too limiting and requires more option in between. The motion tracking is amazing on how fast camera keeps up with AI detection. I have mine set to people only and seems to know ahead of time which direction people are moving. On the driveway, I can see the camera follow me and can't move fast enough to beat it. In the recording, the motion is smooth while keeping up with the pan, indicating a good frame rate. Today I have both ring and wyze subscriptions, with each having their pros and cons. I'd say the ring app has the advantage for ease of use and multi-location separation. However, there is a major cost if you have multiple locations on the ring service. Since wyze only has a single account with all cameras, the unlimited plan is much cheaper as multi locations is still permitted, even though not technically allowed. If you change your wifi password often, the ring app is easier. With wyze, you have to re-add the device again and run through full setup. This is difficult if your camera is hanging in inaccessible location as need to push that pesky setup button again.
All in all, these cameras are very durable, excellent quality and have affordable cloud service if many cameras in multiple locations. If only a few cameras in single location, there are better apps and service for around the same price. The biggest limitation with this kit is the solar panels and battery life with all bells and whistles turned on. For me, this is a good value that meets my needs, I just need to figure out the one power concern.

Great Solar Camera with Excellent Pan & Tilt Features!
I'm very happy with the WYZE Solar Cam Pan! The video quality is clear, and the pan-and-tilt feature makes it easy to monitor a wider area. The solar charging feature is especially convenient because it reduces the need for manual charging. Setup is simple, and the WYZE app is easy to use. Overall, it's a great outdoor security camera with useful features and excellent value. Highly recommended!

Easy setup and great coverage
I was expecting installation to be a bit of a hassle, but it was actually pretty straightforward. The instructions were easy to follow, and I had the camera mounted and connected pretty quickly.
The solar charging is a big plus. Once the panel is positioned in a sunny spot, I don’t have to keep thinking about taking the camera down to recharge it. The pan and tilt movement also gives me much better coverage.
Overall, love it so far.

WYZE outdoor cameras
I got a set of these Wyze indoor cameras a while back to check on the dog. I decided to try these outdoor ones for the front and backyard. I did install the newer app and I have been very pleased with them. You can adjust them on the app and the sound is actually good. They connected easily and the solar has kept up the batteries. We are in S CA and they just went through part of summer and still work well. The casing is durable and they are easy to install. You can do most everything you need but you can also subscribe if you wanted all the options. I did purchase the SD card and it records well. I'm pleased with them.

Event Recordings are glitched at this point in time.
The camera itself is well built and easy to setup, the issue of concern is the event recording connectivity to the SD card. You will get a notification and a picture that something was recorded with the time, but when you try to go view the recording it will say “No Video available at this time”, then you’ll have to back out and keep trying again until it eventually shows the recording before it becomes unavailable again. I am currently running the latest firmware 2.0.1.2388. I believe it is something that could be fixed with an update but as of now Definitely a bummer. Or it could be glitched by design to force you into the paid subscription, since they also make basic settings like “no cool down between recordings” unavailable unless you subscribe 🤔.

Wow this camera system is so easy to use and install. The quality is great! The way you get the most out of it is if you get the "Cam Unlimited" subscription as the video stored on the micro sd card is only like a few seconds. I bought 2 and I have been recommending them to my friends. Easy to unclip and charge when there isn't enough sun.

Very capable solar pan cam, with a few Wyze limitations to know about
I have been using Wyze cameras for years, mostly the Wyze Cam v3 models, and they have generally worked very well for me. This Solar Cam Pan feels like a nice addition to the lineup, especially if you want an outdoor camera that is more flexible than a fixed-position model and even more importantly doesn't have to be wired to an outlet and can charge during the day via the included solar panel.
Setup went smoothly for me, and I appreciate that Wyze includes detailed mounting guidance in the app during the setup process. That is helpful because placement matters more with a solar powered camera. You need a good camera angle, but you also need the solar panel positioned where it can actually get enough light. The mounting system makes sense, and the camera feels well suited for outdoor use.
The image quality is excellent, even in low light, and the pan/tilt movement is smooth. The feed stayed just as clear during panning, which is nice when manually checking around an area. The app is still one of Wyze’s biggest strengths. It is easy to view the camera, adjust detection settings, set detection zones, and change camera behavior without digging through confusing menus.
Because this is battery/solar powered, it is not quite the same experience as a continuously powered Wyze cam. The video feed is not just running constantly in the same way, but it does seem to wake reliably from motion in its field of view. For people actively monitoring a home with several Wyze cameras, I do think Cam Plus can be a good value.
My biggest complaint is that there does not seem to be a true full power-off option. Like some newer Wyze cameras, you can turn off the camera feed/sensor, but that does not appear to fully shut down the device. I wish Wyze would give users a real off option in the app. My other ongoing Wyze complaint is the continued reliance on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. It works, but in 2026 I would really like to see 5 GHz support so I do not have to keep a 2.4 GHz network around mainly for cameras.
Since it does not, I am rounding up to 5 because the overall value, app experience, image quality, pan/tilt coverage, solar charging, and local storage support make this a very strong outdoor camera.

One of the most versatile outdoor cameras from Wyze, great video quality
I’ve used Wyze cameras for years, mostly the Wyze Cam v3 models, and they have generally been very dependable for me. This Solar Cam Pan is a strong addition to the lineup, especially for anyone wanting an outdoor camera with more flexibility than a fixed-angle model. The big advantage, of course, is that it does not need to be wired to an outlet and can recharge during the day with the included solar panel.
Setup was smooth on my end. I also appreciate that Wyze walks you through the mounting process in the app, because placement is especially important with a solar camera. You have to think about both the camera’s viewing angle and whether the solar panel will get enough sunlight. The mounting hardware feels practical, and the camera seems well designed for outdoor use.
Image quality is excellent, including in lower light, and the pan/tilt movement is smooth. I was also happy to see that the video feed stayed clear while panning, which makes it much easier to manually look around an area. The Wyze app remains one of the better parts of the experience. Viewing the camera, adjusting detection settings, setting detection zones, and changing camera behavior are all straightforward.
Since this is a battery/solar camera, it does behave a bit differently from a continuously powered Wyze cam. The live feed is not operating in quite the same always on way, but motion wake-up has seemed reliable within its field of view. For anyone running several Wyze cameras and using them for more active home monitoring, their Cam Plus subscription can be a great value.
My main complaint is that I do not see a true full shutoff option. As with some newer Wyze cameras, you can turn off the camera feed/sensor, but that does not appear to fully power down the device. I would really like Wyze to add a true off option in the app. My other continuing complaint with Wyze is the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi requirement. It works, but in 2026 I would love to see 5 GHz support so I do not have to maintain a 2.4 GHz network largely for cameras.
Since it does not, I am rounding up to 5 because the image quality, app experience, pan/tilt coverage, solar charging, local storage support, and overall value make it a very capable outdoor camera.

Sharp picture, but the solar panel can't keep up & I never stopped worrying about the security side
This is a review of the WYZE Solar Cam Pan, 2k Security Cameras Wireless Outdoor, Battery Powered 360° Pan-Tilt, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi camera with AI motion detection, color night vision and 2-way audio, Cameras for home security.
I wanted a camera for the side yard and driveway where there's no outlet, so the solar panel was the whole appeal. The 2K picture is genuinely good. Daytime footage is crisp, and the night footage was better than I expected for the price. Audio is clear too. Mounting was easy enough with no wiring, though the instructions are thin and getting the angle right on my slightly slanted siding was awkward.
**The solar charging is the main problem.** My yard gets a fair amount of sun, and the panel still couldn't keep the battery topped off once the camera started catching regular activity (cars, neighbors, a lot of passing shadows). After one rainy stretch the battery went dead. I've had to take the camera down and charge it indoors more than once, which defeats the point of buying a solar camera. If you want "mount it and forget it," this isn't that. I also read that the battery isn't replaceable, so if it degrades, you're basically replacing the whole camera.
**Motion detection and recording are mediocre.** On battery it records short clips rather than continuous footage, and alerts sometimes arrive late. A couple of times I opened the clip and the person had already walked out of frame. Shadows and moving branches triggered false alerts, while real activity occasionally got missed. For a security camera, that's the part that matters most.
**Subscription:** It's not a total paywall, since you can use a microSD card, but a number of features, video access, and settings are limited unless you pay the monthly fee. It's confusing what's actually included for free, so check before you buy.
**Now the part that matters most to me: internet security.** This is a camera that sits on my home network and streams video of my property, so I treated it accordingly, and I came away uneasy.
- It only supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, so I had to put it on a network band shared with a lot of my other devices. I ended up putting it on a separate guest/IoT network so a compromised camera couldn't reach my computers, and I'd strongly recommend doing the same.
- Setup requires the cloud-linked app and account. I enabled two-factor authentication immediately, used a unique password, and turned off every feature I didn't need. Still, your footage is tied to a vendor account, and with cheap cloud-connected cameras your security is only as good as their servers and their update practices.
- I couldn't find a clear, easy-to-read explanation of how long they keep footage, who can access it, or how quickly they push firmware patches. A company that wants my trust should make that obvious. Support was also slow to respond when I asked about it, which doesn't inspire confidence.
- The connection dropped intermittently, which for me raised an extra question: is it dropping because of weak signal, or something else? I couldn't tell, and the app gave me little to diagnose it with.
**Bottom line:** Good picture and sound for the money, and fine if you just want to casually glance at a yard. But between the solar panel that doesn't keep up, the delayed and missed alerts, and my lingering uncertainty about data handling, I can't recommend it as a dependable security camera. If you buy one, isolate it on its own network, turn on 2FA, keep the firmware updated, and don't count on the solar panel to do the job alone.
Two stars, one of them for the picture quality.

Easy setup and great pan coverage
Really happy with this camera so far. Very easy to set up and install. The solar panel has kept the battery topped up nicely, and I love not having to take the camera down to recharge it. Pan/tilt is probably my favorite feature. It covers a much larger area than my old fixed camera, and person tracking works surprisingly well. Video quality is sharp during the day and solid at night.
Good price. No complaints yet. I’m curious to see how well the solar panel keeps up during the winter when we get less sunlight here in the pacific northwest.

Easy Setup, Reliable Solar Charging, and Great Tracking
I bought this after an attempted break-in at my house made me decide to add more security cameras and lighting. I wanted something for the corner of my house without having to run power wires, so the solar option was a big reason I chose this one.
Setup was very simple, and I like that the mount gives you two different mounting positions. The solar panel has worked really well too. If you take the time to find the right angle, battery life really isn’t something you have to worry about. Mine gets morning sun and has had no problem staying active through the night.
So far I’ve been very happy with the night performance. I especially like that when it detects a person, it can follow them, turn on the spotlight, and make an audible sound so they know the camera has activated. I have a screenshot of the night view and a video of it tracking someone walking on the sidewalk, and I’ve been impressed with how well it works.
The detection settings are also useful. You can choose which areas of the camera view you want monitored and adjust the sensitivity, which helps cut down on unnecessary alerts.
I haven’t had any connection issues. My Wi-Fi went out once, and the camera reconnected on its own when service came back.
I personally think the Wyze service is worth paying for because of the additional features and cloud storage. Local microSD storage is another option, but buying cards for several cameras can start adding up.
Overall, I’d definitely buy this camera again and may end up adding another one. I’m perfectly fine being the camera-crazy guy on the block if it means better coverage around the house.

I really like Wyze® products.
My house is inundated with Wyze products. Everything from Smart outlets and cameras to water leak detection. I think their products are a good value. I've tried others and in my opinion this is a better 1 stop shop for smart devices and cameras.
This camera fills a particular niche when you don't have a good power supply nearby. The solar and battery combination allow you to put this where there is limited power. Everywhere from the corner of the fence, a shed or in my case the pool gazebo.
The camera itself has fantastic resolution and is easy to set up and install with the on-screen directions. The camera also has a pan and scan ability which works great
If you're already a Wyze user then the setup is even easier through the app if not it's a simple download. The camera can be used for free with the free app with limitations. I use a subscription and get more ability to use the system like a real security camera system. There are some added bells and whistles for a pretty low yearly cost.
I put mine by the Gazebo to monitor the pool. I have a full privacy fenced in yard but worry some about kids or others wandering in. I keep notifications on and get notified if someone is near the pool or in the pool. I have no children or grandchildren at the house but I want to keep any possible catastrophes at bay.
I am not affiliated with this company in any way. I evaluate and review everything fairly and honestly in order to give consumers unbiased information. I do this because this is how I would appreciate being informed.

Easy Setup...Images Look Great...Pretty Clear Night Video...
I set up the wyze solar cam pan to monitor my back and side yard, where running a wired connection wasn’t feasible. After using it for a hours, it has proven to be easy, per the app, and of course low maintenance because of the solar panel.
I like the 360° pan and tilt coverage. Being able to manually pan and tilt the camera remotely through the app removes blind spots. I can easily adjust the angle to check on different areas without physically moving the mount.
The included solar panel keeps the internal battery charged consistently. As long as the panel gets a few hours of direct sunlight daily, I don't have to worry about removing the camera to recharge it manually which sometimes is a pain in the butt...lol.
So Wyze says this is the 2K video cam and yes the clarity is sharp during the day, making it easy to pick out faces and small details. Color night vision works well in low light environments, though in complete darkness, it switches to standard infrared.
Connecting to my Wi Fi was straightforward through the Wyze app, and the mounting hardware for both the camera and panel was simple to install. The battery drain with heavy motion will take some time to monitor.
If placed in a very high traffic area, constant pan tracking and recording will consume battery faster than the solar panel can keep up on cloudy days, so just a heads up. Adjusting sensitivity and detection zones helps balance this out.
Overall, it’s a low profile camera, self sustaining security camera for full coverage outdoor monitoring without the hassle of running power cables. Definitely recommend.

Really impressed. Great quality and features.
Great camera set. Good and trusted company for a complete camera system, so if you want to use indoor and outdoor, you can have it all in one app. They are reliable and hold a good signal over wifi. Very easy to setup and connect and had no issues getting them all up and running. Minimal install time and I love the solar panels on them that is going to help keep them charged up and going for way longer than a standard battery operation. Really impressed with the quality of video and audio as well. The night vision works very well too. They seem to be well made and heavy so they should hold up to the elements and constant sun exposure as well and have not had any issues so far.
I like the fact that you can do local storage so you don't need to do a subscription like a lot of major competitors require nowadays and the AI notifications are actually helpful too instead of the generic "motion detected" which could be a number of things, so it helps to know what is going on from a glance.
Overall, the price is actually not bad considering that you get 4 cameras with the solar panels for each of them.
I certainly recommend and am happy with these for a peace of mind and overall security at our house!

Excellent Coverage and Great Video Quality
I’m really impressed with these WYZE Solar Cam Pan cameras. Having a 4-pack makes it easy to cover multiple areas around the house, and the wireless design keeps installation simple without having to run power cables everywhere.
The 2K video quality is clear and detailed, and the 360° pan-and-tilt capability provides a much wider viewing area than a traditional stationary camera. The color night vision is also a nice feature and provides useful visibility when it gets dark.
I really like the battery-powered design, especially for locations where running a power cable would be difficult. The solar capability is another great convenience for keeping the cameras powered with less maintenance. The AI motion detection helps cut down on unnecessary alerts and makes it easier to know when something actually needs attention.
The cameras are a good fit for monitoring the yard, driveway, entrances, or other areas around the property. Being able to check the cameras remotely is also reassuring when away from home.
Overall, this is a very capable home security camera system. The combination of 2K video, pan-and-tilt coverage, wireless installation, solar power, night vision, and AI motion detection makes this 4-pack a great option for adding security coverage around the home.

Good design, well made, durable parts, lack of easily accessible detailed instructions
This camera is well designed and built with durable materials. It is user friendly in many ways. However, I marked it down one star because I had to hunt down the more specific and detailed information and instructions which are provided via the search feature in their shopping tab. There should be more in the included instructions and in a larger font size. The manufacturer assumes/relies on the customer's ability to have internet connections, wifi and some experience with apps. That said, once you press the set up button on top of the camera, it takes you into a process that connects you with their app, your wifi and the camera. That part was flawless. When I finally located a way to ask questions, as mentioned above, the answers were quick, specific and helpful. I temporarily placed one camera and it worked perfectly. Once charged, the battery has been strong. To unlock all the features, like recording video and viewing it later, will require one of their subscriptions which range from inexpensive to more costly but don't seem out of range with the features given. Without a subscription, it lets me know when it detects motion and lets me live stream the camera when I want to see what's going on. Photos 1 and 2 show the unboxing and laying out the parts. In those photos you can see the solar panel, the camera that's connected to pan motor, the brackets for installing the camera and the hardware needed for different installation scenarios. The third photo shows the back of the panel and the generous amount of cable provided to plug into the USB 3 [photo 4] charger for the batteries. With a solar power panel that can be attached away from the camera to get more sunlight, with the ease of connection and the quality of images - especially the color images at night, with thoughtful design and durable materials, I believe this is a good bargain for the money.

A Reliable Solar Camera That Stays True to the WYZE Formula
If you have used WYZE cameras before, you know what to expect, and this solar model delivers on most of the same strengths. No subscription required, no penny owed to view your footage. An SD card keeps as much local video as you want, and the cameras have proven themselves through some pretty rough weather over the years.
The limitations that come with the territory are also familiar. Only 2.4GHz WiFi is supported, which limits range. Video routes through WYZE's servers with no option to stream locally, which introduces a lag each time you connect. And the video feed is not open to third parties, so you can’t mix and match cameras from different companies. With a battery-powered camera like this one, you also have to manually tap to start the stream rather than having it run continuously.
Installation went smoothly overall. I received model 1.2, which appears to be newer than what other reviewers have described. This version allows the solar panel to attach directly to the camera body, a welcome simplification over earlier setups.
The one frustration during installation was the included wood screws, which turned out to be non-magnetic. Working on a ladder while juggling the mount, screw, and drill at the same time was awkward, and when a screw slipped it fell straight to the ground rather than sticking to my magnetic drill bit. Three screws are included in case you lose one, but magnetic screws would have made the whole process much less stressful.
Some guidance on optimal solar panel positioning would also be a helpful addition. Even a basic voltage readout in the app would help confirm you are getting the most out of the sun. I made my best guess on the angle and the camera has stayed charged through clear weather, but I will not know for sure how well the placement holds up until conditions change.
Overall, another solid entry in the WYZE lineup. Dependable and subscription-free.

Company is US based and operated
We got this a couple of weeks ago and love it. Installation was extremely simple, it comes with a drill guide and I also love that the solar panel can be installed separately in the event your ideal camera location is always shaded. Picture quality is great and it alerts us for what we need it to do.
The thing that I like most about it is, unlike most other camera companies, the subscription is OPTIONAL. The subscription does unlock more perks, but if you just want piece of mind or the basics (pictures, video, and none of the other bells and whistles), this camera is for you.
We own a few Defend cellular cameras, which is great you can place them anywhere, even in another State if you wanted, but they're expensive to purchase and to continue to operate. Wyze is on the cheaper end of the spectrum, no subscription fee, if you don't want it, and the installation/setup was really simple.
We also love that it's a US based company that uses US firmware. Meaning, your video feed isn't going to servers over in China. Everything stays here in the US. The only downside is that the camera itself was made in China, but what isn't now a days? So far the camera has held up to a few bad storms. I'll update this review after a bad snow storm come winter. Hopefully my review doesn't change.

So far, it's great, no issues with connectivity. Great picture & very responsive. Doesn't reach as far as other wifi cameras but if you're within 40ft of your router, you get plenty of signal. If not, a wifi extender boosts it enough to take care of it.
For the price & convenience it is well worth it. I'm very happy with it & definitely recommend.

Shockingly GREAT Solar Camera for the Price!
Best security camera I’ve owned.
I’ve owned a ridiculous number of security cameras over the years, and this is easily one of my favorites.
The biggest thing for me is that I basically never have to think about it. I mounted it, pointed the solar panel toward the sun, and that was pretty much it.
The pan feature is WAY more useful than I expected. Instead of having one fixed view and realizing later that something happened just outside the frame, I can actually look around the yard. The coverage you get from one camera is honestly kind of crazy.
Video quality is excellent during the day and surprisingly good at night. Notifications have been decently reliable, the app loads the camera quickly, and the whole thing feels much more polished than outdoor battery cameras I’ve used in the past.
The solar charging is what really sells it for me. I was skeptical that a relatively small panel would actually keep up with the camera, especially on days where we don’t get much sun, but so far it has.
Installation took maybe 3-5 minutes.
If you have a driveway, backyard, shed, detached garage, or basically anywhere that would be a pain to run power to, this thing is PERFECT.
Highly recommend.
