I got this because I wanted to be able to record the games without having to stand there holding my phone the whole time. The auto-tracking is honestly my favorite part. Once it’s set up, it follows the action so I can actually watch the game and enjoy it instead of worrying about keeping the camera pointed at the player. The video looks good, and setup was easier than I expected. I’m really glad I bought this!

Very impressed at what it can do. It saves a lot of time and does all the hard work that we usually had to do with our phones. We can now focused on the game and let the XbotGo do all the hard work. I have a video that it did for us of my daughter game and it did pretty god. We will see how it works with her next game this week.

Very easy to setup using a phone and downloading the app. The XbotGo follows motions of the game or a specific player and zooms in and out when necessary, the quality of the camera is excellent, and it’s easy to connect to your phone. It also comes with a charger and remote to help navigate the videos and to pause or record. Very easy to carry in the compartment that it comes in. Great purchase.

I just got this this week and I think it’s really cool. You mount your phone to it and you control the camera movements with a remote. The quality is great! And it smoothly pans the field. Now I’m only using it for little kids so they don’t move super fast. But I think it would be great for older kids as well. It has a lot of features, you can select the sport and it adjusts functions from there. Color is great. I think it’s a fun item to help me capture my son’s soccer games! Definitely happy with my purchase!

Seems like a nice camera. Thought it might be a cool idea to fill my kids football games. I like it. This is relatively easy to set up. Also come to the remote, which is nice. The whole idea is that’s supposed to be an action camera and videotape for you. This way you don’t need to use your phone. Seems pretty straightforward and easy to use. Also comes with batteries already in the remote. Seems like a nice set up.

Just got it in and noticed the packaging had a big dent in the box. Opened it up and nothing was broken to my examination. I used it recently and have found that yes it does track on its own “I’m using it for football” however it will randomly track different objects. It took away from the game to track the referee and also tracked a bird and car on the other side of the field and not the game. Most likely going to return it.
Last thing: the zoom is only 3x with the app and my iPhone camera can zoom better and I can follow players as well. Not worth the hassle. Also there is no videos online of football being recorded just soccer but it shows it can be set to follow football games.
Going to give it the ol' community college try. Stay tuned for updated videos.

I recently got my hands on this impressive AI tracking gimbal, and I have to say, it's fantastic! I purchased it because my son is on a baseball team, and I want to stream the games for parents who can't attend and for families with loved ones in the military. I found a great coupon that made it even more affordable, so I couldn't resist. Before the season kicks off, I wanted to familiarize myself with how it works. I set the camera to track a frisbee, and it did just that perfectly! It ignored me and the dog, staying focused on the frisbee like a pro. This AI gimbal is truly remarkable, and I can already tell that the quality of our videos is going to be better than ever!

I've recorded about 10 soccer and baseball matches so far. Manual overwriting of tracking is sometimes necessary, but it's still good enough to be very usable for now. Hopefully, it improves further in the future.
The connection for updating the score is not very reliable (a major inconvenience), even when the page is kept open in the foreground. Having to reach the recording phone just to generate a new passcode is frustrating.
Suggested Improvements:
I’d be willing to pay for a reasonably priced, more advanced Bluetooth remote for updating the score, as dedicating a second phone with an internet connection is a significant inconvenience and expense.
• Ability to update the score directly from the remote (small screen on the remote).
• Separate buttons for different functions—for example, one for marking highlights and another for overwriting the tracking position, without requiring multiple button clicks to be ready.
• Option to automatically create markers when the score changes (ideally on both the second cellphone link for now, and the potential new remote).
• Add ability to pause tracking for a configurable amount of time (e.g., 30 sec.). This is useful when the game stops and you want to overwrite and record something specific (e.g., when the game ends and players shake hands, or when the coach calls a timeout, and you want to point the camera at the meeting).

I’ve been using the Xbotgo AI Sports Tracking Camera - Chameleon for a few weeks now, and it’s been a fantastic addition to our basketball games. I initially bought it to record my team’s practices and games, and I’m genuinely impressed by how well it works.
The setup was super easy, thanks to the clear manual. I’m not particularly tech-savvy, but I had it up and running in no time. Once it’s set, the AI tracking kicks in and follows the action smoothly, so I don’t have to worry about constantly adjusting it.

I bought this to record ⚽ games. There are several let downs of this device that is quite disappointing.
Once entered the football mode the Bluetooth connect starts to disconnect and reconnect constantly, rendering the tracking totally unusable. I use an Iphone 10 and not sure what happened there. Haven't tried other modes but that's the main mode I need.
The App is absolutely hideous. The video files are stored in the app and not shared in my photo album. I need to share it with my team however and there's no option to that. It also forces you to sign up for their cloud which God knows why and if you don't, there's no way to share the videos.
After it's out for so long the App is still very unpolished and not user friendly, and unfortunately that's the only way to use the device. It doesn't deserve the red dot design award at all(or it was one of those money grabbing award)

I initially got this device thinking this is a tracking camera. It has a lens and a tripod mount so I thought this device recorded footage but could not find anywhere to insert memory. Upon further investigation, this is actually a smart phone mount, not a camera as listing still describes it as an AI powered sports action camera. Inside the box, you’ll find the XbotGo device, remote, charging cable and documentation. Included documentation reads that it’s an AI powered tracking sports phone mount.
Device itself is pretty hefty and with any modern phone it gets heavier but it’s not anything decent tripod would have problem with (with S23 ultra in a case, it’s still under 2lbs). You’ll need to download the XbotGo app to use the device. Currently, it has 4 modes, follow me, soccer, basketball and ice hockey and 6 modes that are in beta which includes football, tennis, broom, handball, pickleball and lacrosse. In follow me mode that I tested, it has a beta mode that’ll try to track jersey numbers which is pretty neat and it works as long as the number is large enough to be visible.
On Samsung S23 ultra, it shows 4 recordable modes, two 720p and two 1080p, I haven’t calculated the bitrate but highest quality setting is about 60MB/min. I had this briefly connected to iPhone 11 and it had few more options but neither phone had 4k recording capabilities. It may be related to app and phone’s processing power needed for the AI functions. At the highest quality setting, video is very clear and smooth and as long as you’re using the rear camera, tracking works fairly well. If you use the front selfie camera, at least on the phones I’ve tested, field of view is very limited and the tracking does not work properly and is angled down.
Another issue I had was with the remote. It doesn’t have the option to reverse the controls so that it can mirror controls both in the app or the remote which makes controls the camera from the front bit challenging as you have go the opposite direction to make it go the way you want. Also, it wasn’t very responsive so I ended up just using the camera via gesture control for the follow feature.
I’ll update the review once I can further test the device for team sports. I appreciate the fact that features are being continually added and the software seems to be regularly updated. However, for those thinking this is a camera, I’d like to remind them that this is actually a phone holder/gimbal. And the quality and/or resolution of video depends on what kind of phone you use. While my S23 might not be the latest, I was bit disappointed that I was limited to 1080p video. I still feel that this device is still being developed and unless you’re trying to get your kids soccer/basketball games on the weekends, it’s tad bit expensive to recommend.

Camera quality is great, hands down, it does track and zoom in for slow movements, if you're doing cooking or a makeup streaming, this works just fine. Doesn't track or zoom for fast motion at all, also only rotate horizontally, not vertically. It is easy to use, but for the price, it has basically the same functions as the $20 rotating tripod, except it has the auto zoom which doesn't really work in a fast motion tracking. I'm a solo content creator focusing on dancing and fitness, this one doesn't help me that much, very disappointed. So far I haven't been able to find a Camera that rotates horizontally and vertically.

What you get… Well, I was a bit surprised. In the package there’s the gimbal, a remote control and a USB-C charging cable. You’ll also get the user’s manual, abeit a rather ‘small print’ mini-booklet. I opted to download the manual from the XbotGo site. And I was expecting some sort of protective ‘shell-formed’ zip up storage device or at least a felt satchel. My suggestion at the outset is to save the box this comes in as it has a foam block with a cutout for the gimbal. The app, which is free, includes cloud storage. When you do record, the files default-save to the XbotGo app on your phone. I found it best to just share the files from the app to my Dropbox account. From there I can direct manage them on my computer’s video software.
How this basically works… While I’ve been reviewing both DSLR gimbals and cellphone gimbals over the past few years, I was a bit confused by the vendor page description of this gimbal. I was unsure as to whether it was a ‘gimbal with camera’, or something else. Well, it’s ‘something else’. The Chameleon is a very specialized gimbal that mounts on a tripod or light-stand that has a ¼-20 male threaded post. The lens you see on the front of the gimbal is actually the optics for the AI-tracking of the unit. You will need to supply a cellphone camera. And while the vendor page boasts 4k-60fps as a feature, I believe that actually applies to the cellphone you choose to mount atop the Chameleon.
About phone compatibility… I found detailed compatibility charts online. And while Android compatibility extends all the way down to my Samsung S9+, I found less than perfect performance using the my older Samsung. In the words of XbotGo… “For Android users, we recommend phones equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 or newer processors. These devices ensure optimal performance with XbotGo Chameleon.” And for iPhone users, XbotGo shares, “For iPhone users, XbotGo Chameleon is fully compatible with iPhone XS or newer models. This ensures you can experience the full potential of our AI-powered sports cameraman without compromising performance.” So given that, I’m planning on borrowing my wife’s iPhone 13 Pro Max which I believe will be a better partner for the Chameleon.
My review video is limited to the FOLLOW ME mode as my neighboring parks didn’t have any games. However, this preliminary testing of the unit in its simplest form told me that the gimbal isn’t perfect. I did have some challenges pairing and then recording via the follow me mode. But I believe some of that was my learning curve and some issues with my older phone. Overall I see a great value in this gimbal and aside from my ‘start up’ issues, I still believe it’s a 5-star value given the performance of which I know it’s capable.

If you're on the fence about purchasing one of those just go for it. Is it 100% perfect all the time? No it is not. Does it get the job done well at a reasonable price? Absolutely. They are constantly making changes to the app and firmware. I'd say mine is 95% accurate and I'm using soccer mode for broomball. There are some hang-ups and things to research regarding your particular filming environment. You need a high quality cell phone to get the best out of this. You're not sticking some random $200 android on it. I'm using a $1300 Samsung phone and it gives great results.
