Overheating issues.

I have 2 of them. One works fine and no issues. The second one overheats. Sometimes in 15 minutes, sometimes in 1 hour. I thought might be a battery issue, so I bought a new one. Did not fix it. Tried lowering the video settings, did not fix it. So, you might win you might lose.

However, the video quality is superb. I edit in DaVinci Studio and you and zoom in to about 300% before distortion.

Hands Down the Best Action Camera in its Pricing Category

This is my first high-quality action camera and it does not disappoint. The 4K image on this thing is amazing. The value for what you pay (as compared to DJI) is a perfect price point. The compact size allows me to carry anywhere, and I love the accessories, primarily the cage, so that it can be used under water, and the magnetic mount. I love the fact that it has a screen on the front and back so that you can frame shots properly, either way. I haven't fully tested the battery just yet, but it seems to be holding a solid charge. If you are wanting a premium action camera at budget pricing, this is absolutely the one!

So good! I recommend

So good inside and out! I took it to the beach to film a video for my page, it preformed AWESOME! 10/10. It wouldn’t let me upload a video but my insta is The K side quests if you’re curious how it films!

Video quality is amazing for the priceee

I loveeee this camera, i recently started creating UGC and also for vlogs. It’s really easy to use. The mic on it is pretty decent too although I did buy a separate mic to use. The video quality is amazinggg for the cost. It’s super compact and lightweight which I love because it fits perfect in my purse.

Excellent action camera and customer support

I absolutely love this camera. I upgraded from a GoPro Hero 11, and the XTRA Edge Pro has been a huge upgrade for my outdoor filming and content creation.

The battery life has been excellent, and the batteries charge extremely fast, which is a huge benefit when filming for longer periods. I also really appreciate that this camera does not seem to have the overheating issues I experienced with my GoPro. The built-in storage is another great feature because it allows you to start filming right out of the box without immediately needing to purchase an additional memory card.

I did have one battery that would not fully charge, but XTRA’s customer service was outstanding. They responded quickly, addressed the issue, and had it resolved in less than 24 hours. It is refreshing to see a company that is this easy to work with and stands behind their product.

I have been using this camera with a K&F Concept Variable ND Filter, and I have been very impressed with the video quality and overall performance. The attached photos were captured using this camera setup.

I am not sponsored, but for anyone interested in seeing more real-world examples of how this camera performs, I have been sharing footage from my outdoor adventures and metal detecting content on my social media under “Appalachian Signals”.

This camera has been a great tool for capturing outdoor adventures and creating content. I highly recommend the XTRA Edge Pro for anyone looking for a capable action camera with great features and excellent customer support.

This one flaw makes the camera unusable

I’ve had this camera for a few months and I’ve liked it so far but it has a major flaw. The sliding door with button to plug it in is seized up. I can’t physically open it with my hands without injury and a small thin flathead screw driver isn’t working either which is a shame. This flaw makes the camera unusable without trying to buy a separate battery charger.

Easy to Shoot with Right Out of the Box

Right out of the box I am impressed with this camera. I brought it to an event to test the audio and video and I am so impressed with how far action cameras have come. The last action camera I bought was in 2017 and the technology has come such a long way. I thought the audio was clear, the image quality was great, and I was impressed with how easy it was to set it up and get to recording.

High quality action camera.

The best action camera for the money.

A Osmo Action 5 pro clone with some key missing features

This camera is positioned into a crop of action camera originally popularized by Gopro later joined by DJI. These are usually smaller primarily video cameras with smaller sensor, image stabilization, low light, and faster shutter speed. With and advancement in camera and sensor technology these have become quite good of late.

Xtra Edge pro is very well built the packaging included a cage in addition to the clamp. It has good set of features like the other ones in this price range. In fact this camera appears to be an exact clone of Osmo Action 5 pro to the minute details. Only difference is in software, proprietary names in menu are replaced with new ones and some features are completely missing.

Image quality is good, auto exposure works fine most of the times. The automatic white balance however is a hit or miss. I changed the color temperature on light and the camera could not adjust white balance properly half the time even after turning it on and off. While this unit has the color sensor window near logo like action 5 pro, I could not confirm it working. For any mission critical work I will set a color temperature rather than using auto WB.

Good thing is the camera provide you lot of option to set and shoot, including 10-bit log. Xtra website has LUT for log conversion. In the zoom setting on standard it provides an option to de-warp which is convenient to remove the fish eye effect of smaller focal length lens on compact cameras, without doing much in post processing. It shoots 4K 120 fps without any issues, though all resolution and frame rates are not available in all shooting modes which is understandable. Image stabilization worked well in my tests. If you need more advanced stabilization you can use gyroflow, it seem it will not be any different than Action 5pro.

It has a good 45GB of built in storage but shooting at higher resolution and frame rate fills it quick. Also it makes a low resolution file for every recording on the camera with XRF extension, I think its for on camera quick play etc. You can change extension from XRF to MP4 and it will play like normal mp4 video.

On camera audio quality was fine but we all know for any serious production you will need better and off camera microphone. This unit connected to a Rode Wireless Go receiver easily through the USB C port. This is where on of the key missing feature is apparent. Action pro has a built in wireless mice receiver that allows you to connect two DJI wireless microphones. That menu is completely missing from this camera. I believe this is a limitation added in software.

Depth and Altitude: This is missing. In DJI this option displays Depth and Altitude during diving or parachuting on the video. Action 5 pro has a built in pressure gauge.

This also allows you to program the the camera to automatically start recording at certain altitude or depth

At my order this was priced higher than Action 5 pro at the time. I do not understand the market positioning or target group of this device which is a clone of an existing popular device with some missing features priced same or higher.

A DJI action 5 pro by any other name is an Xtra Pro

It's apparently a rebranded DJI action 5, but missing some of the features. A couple settings such as the connection to DJI mics. Also the app is very basic and it can not be used with the DJI app.

When I lookes this cost more as well. The accessories work though. So all my cases, filters etc fit as expected.

It's fast, the quality is very good, but unless it costs less than it's DJI counterpart substantially I don't know why you would want this instead? I love and take it everywhere, but I got it to review and it makes me want the DJI. You pay more for mess, so it's value isn't there in comparison.

These are unedited photos, in manual mode with a variable ND filter.

EXCELLENT CAMERA!!!

I own multiple brand name action cameras and this camera is a top of the line camera. I’ve been testing it for a couple months and trying to use every feature, but there are so many that I haven’t gotten through all of them. However, I’ve done enough to know that this camera is reliable and top of the line.

Image quality is excellent. It has produced consistently good quality video. Stabilization is great. I’m impressed with it’s ability to handle both low light and bright light. One of my favorite features is the time lapse. I even challenged the camera to do a time lapse during a sunrise while it was snowing. For anyone into time lapses, this is a challenging situation dealing with changing lighting conditions, bright white snow, moisture, and movement (snowing). The footage was totally impressive and better than a side-by-side comparison with another name brand camera.

Slow motion is also a great feature. For slow motion, you have a high of 120 fps on 4K and 240 fps on 1080P (yes, my jaw dropped, too). The human tracking is also a great feature. Some other features I like are the front and rear screens; the ability to quickly change from horizontal to vertical framing; the horizontal calibration feature; the ability to switch from 16:9 to 4:3 layouts; and the quick magnetic mount connect.

As for build quality, this is a super camera. Everything feels tight and secure. The menus are intuitive and easy to understand. There are so many features that it does take a little time to learn how to maneuver around the menus. I haven’t submerged the camera, but I’ve been in enough rain and snow to believe that the camera can withstand moisture. You have internal storage and you can add additional storage with a TF card. The audio quality is above average for an action camera.

The battery life is good. I would like to get more batteries as spares for the camera. So far I have not found good replacements, so I hope that situation is rendered quickly. For a typical outing, the battery life is good.

I typically carry two action cameras with me where ever I go and this camera has definitely made it to one of my favorites. I would highly recommend it.

I am impressed with action camera 🎥

I am impressed with this action camera 🎥, which boasts a sturdy design and handy functionality thanks to its compact size. While stability is satisfactory, employing additional accessories like a tripod for selfie or vlogging can improve consistency. Connectivity is remarkably quick, simple, and effortless. I am embarking on an international trip this month and will provide an update.

Got it working remotely

UPDATE: The mic 3 receiver works when plugged into the Pro's USB-C port: The USB cover snaps/clips on and off. Plugging it in directly eliminates the ability to use xtra's cage/frame. A short extension cable should do it for now.

It would be nice if built-in wireless microphone support is added.

Excellent 4K Action Camera for Outdoor Events!

I recently used this camera to record my kid’s birthday party at a park, and I was genuinely impressed by how well it performed. The camera captured every laugh, game, and little surprise with amazing clarity. The 4K resolution made the videos look incredibly sharp and realistic, and even fast-moving scenes — like kids running around or blowing bubbles — came out smooth thanks to the excellent stabilization feature.

The outdoor lighting was bright and sometimes uneven, but the camera handled it effortlessly, keeping the colors vibrant and balanced. I also loved the wide-angle lens, which made it easy to fit everyone into the frame without constantly adjusting. Later in the evening, as the light got softer, the night view mode continued to deliver clear and detailed shots.

It’s compact, lightweight, and easy to carry — perfect for parents who just want to enjoy the day while still capturing great memories. The waterproof design and durable build make it ideal for future adventures too, like swimming or hiking trips. Overall, this action camera exceeded my expectations and is now my go-to choice for family events and outdoor fun.

High quality camera, impressive

This is a good quality camera. It is touch screen and has similarities to a gopro but the camera does not really come with instructions and finding an adaptable mount might be a bit difficult. Overall it is great quality and has a great battery life, you also have to purchase a memory for this because it does not include one. Make sure to sit and play with the settings a bit to learn the camera a bit. Overall all this camera has great features! Really nice quality videos can be taken.

Amazing Action Camera

I decided to put this camera to the test in a tough environment. A subject on a couch in a slightly dim room with a window behind them. This was to see what it would look like when trying to match a RED cinema camera.

I can't praise this camera enough. The quality looks great and all the perks from the Edge Pro are fantastic. I love the battery life as I was able to record for a long time before seeing that I'd need to charge in the near future. It's waterproof, the cage it comes with is durable, and the camera has all the settings to stand out as it's own.

On top of all this, the camera has a lot of options to go super wide and capture some fun videos. It honestly was really great shooting video with the stabilization on. Smooth.

Loved playing with it and capturing something even remotely comparable to my cinema camera. (screenshots from video below)

Specs from test footage:

Both cameras: iso 250 on RED, 200 on Xtra

White balance: 5600K+10 green on RED, 5600K on Xtra

Lens: 25mm on RED, "1.7x" zoom on Xtra

Fstop: 1.8 on RED, No adjustments on Xtra

Shutter Speed/Angle: 180 degrees on RED, 1/50 on Xtra

More tests to do now!

Grumpy middle aged man.

Awesome action shooting Camera.

Clear Video and high FPS. The Camera was not too heavy for my FPV. Love that the camera comes with internal memories so I don't need to buy additionaal SD card, but if need more memory there is a microSD slot available. Charges fast. Sound is also very good. I didn't have to read the manual the operation was very intuitive.

Use it a lot for outdoor filming!

This sport camera is a great choice for anyone who loves action, travel, or outdoor adventures. It’s small, light, and built tough, so you can take it almost anywhere. The camera is waterproof up to 30 meters, so you don’t need extra gear for swimming, diving, or rainy weather.

The video quality is excellent. It records in 4K at 60 frames per second, which means the footage looks sharp, colorful, and smooth. The wide-angle lens gives you that “immersive” action look, while the image stabilization keeps videos steady, even if you’re biking, skiing, or running. It also performs well in low light, so you can still capture clear shots at sunset or in shaded areas.

Photos come out great too, with a 20-megapixel sensor that produces crisp and detailed images. The burst mode is handy for fast-moving action. Sharing is simple thanks to built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth—you can connect it to your phone, use the app to control it, and even live stream if you want.

Battery life is decent, lasting about 90 minutes when filming in 4K. For longer trips, it’s smart to carry a spare battery. There are also plenty of accessories, like mounts and tripods, so you can attach the camera to helmets, bikes, or even your backpack.

Overall, this sport camera is reliable, easy to use, and delivers great quality. Whether you’re into extreme sports or just want to record fun memories on a trip, it’s a solid and worthwhile purchase.

High quality, with a trying learning curve

With cameras, image quality is Priority One with me. Whether I need to sort through a convoluted menu flow, struggle with unconventional navigation techniques or accept that what I’ve long known as this is now called that, I’ll do it, provided the end result is quality imaging. I’m finding that to be true with the Xtra Pro action camera and also wondering how large a role actual photographers had in developing it. The speaker cutout, for instance, is placed right where the index finger typically rests when holding the camera. When it first sounded I thought I had a bee pinched under my finger. If an unusual grip is necessary, note that the camera body has a coarse, easy-to-grip surface. Although each action cam I have varies a bit from one to the other, this one varies a good bit more. Call me old fashioned, but I was surprised to see there is no threaded, 1/4-inch tripod adapter on either the camera bottom or the provided protective camera frame. Instead, the Xtra Pro mounts to both via a magnetically reinforced clip. It works, and being able to mount the camera to any magnetic surface can be useful, I suppose. The clip, however—the only provided mount for the camera—is a helmet mount with a thumb screw and curved, adhesive base. Fortunately, other action cameras I own, unlike the Xtra Pro, came with a slew of mounts and related accessories, including tripod mount adapters that I can use to replace the curved helmet plate. Another thing gone missing is a second camera battery and, often, a separate dual battery charger. Only one battery (1900mAh) is included with the Xtra Pro, and I’ll be charging it in the camera. I appreciate that the illuminated charging level indicator is large, bright and easy to see from a distance. The camera has a generous 47.8GB of internal storage and a slot for optional additional memory via microSD card (not included). Like most action cameras, it does not have a flash, lens cap or external microphone input. That said, the onboard audio is quite good. Available settings, of course, vary according to the shooting mode, and there’s a bunch of both. The more notable for me are two image stabilization settings: a Sports setting for vigorous action, and a Day setting for more subtle movements. Both are impressive, with the Sport setting offering stability nearly on par with that of a gimbal. The camera being waterproof to 65 feet without requiring a case is a great convenience that could spark a broader interest in underwater photography. I like the Full Front Screen feature, which zooms a tighter, square crop front screen image to a wide panoramic. Both screens are bright and razor sharp. Both can be zoomed from 1x to 2x. The Xtra App, a companion app, allows users to view, edit, share and download images and videos with a mobile phone. With the provided 20-inch cable, files can be transferred to a PC. I checked out the features I found of greatest interest, and I found them impressive enough to convince me that when I get to the others they will not disappoint. This is a worthy camera. The included Quick Start guide is very sparse. To learn more, there is a useful video tutorial and an informative user manual—Xtra Edge Pro_User Manual_en—available online.

exceeded expectations

this Xtra Pro Action camera exceeded my expectations. It's definitely worth its price! This is a great alternative to other more expensive cameras. The image is very clear and just as good as name brand cameras. I wasn't expecting for it to be this good. Call me IMPRESSED!! This camera takes 4K videos and 48MP images. So far, the videos and images are clear and great quality. My husband took it this past weekend with him kayaking and he really liked how clear the videos are. The camera is practically ready to use right out of the box. It comes with everything you will need. It comes with a poly case and lens protection. What I love about this camera is that it can be use under water!! I can't wait to use it underwater when we go to water parks in the summer. Overall, I'm impressed and shocked at the quality of this camera. It's definitely worth the asking price and it's just as good as name brands without having to spend more.

Very nice action / vlogging camera with one small gripe

This Xtra Pro Action Cam is very nice and works well out of the box. It feels very sturdy in the hand and is built very well. There is a video screen on the back that takes up the entire surface and a smaller screen on the front for seeing what you are recording when video recording a selfie. It comes with 45GB of internal storage. There is an SD card slot so you can expand the storage space, but from what I read, it requires a special SD card and standard cards will not work. But I think that for most, the 45GB of internal storage will be more than adequate. When you turn it on or charge it, it does display the current charge state of the battery. The image stabilization is very good as well as the internal microphone, and the menu that displays on the large screen on the back is touch sensitive and relatively easy to use. It comes with a hard case and mounting equipment to attach it to a helmet. The mounting adaptor does work with GoPro mounting gear. The clip that attaches to the protective frame has a magnet and two clips on the ends to keep it secure. My only gripe is that the on / off button requires a lot of pressure to activate and you need to hold it down for several seconds. I would like to also point out that when I first got it, I fully charged it to 100%. I took around 7 minutes of video and then I used the USB-C cable to transfer the video to my computer, it said the power level was at 68%. I am thinking that was some glitch with my computer because I find it hard to believe that taking 7 minutes of video would drain 32% of the batter. And after I downloaded the video from the camera onto my computer, the power level read 97%, and I had only had it plugged into my computer for a few minutes. Overall, I am very pleased with the quality of this action cam and look forward to getting a lot of use out of it.

very good

The Xtra Pro Action Camera is incredible! I’ve been using it for cycling, diving, and outdoor adventures, and it performs flawlessly every time. The 4K video quality is crystal clear, and the large 1/1.3'' sensor captures vibrant, detailed footage even in low light. The night view mode is especially impressive—it really enhances shooting after dark. I also love the built-in stabilization, which keeps videos smooth even during fast action or bumpy rides. The waterproof design up to 65ft is perfect for diving and water sports, giving me confidence to take it anywhere. Compact, durable, and easy to use, it’s ideal for both vlogging and action shots. Truly a top-quality camera at a great value. Five stars!

Great alternative to the popular action camera.

The Xtra Edge Pro Action Camera is a fantastic alternative to more expensive brands, offering a wealth of features for about half the price. I've been using it for a while now, and it's proven to be a reliable and impressive piece of equipment.

The camera boasts some serious specs, including 4K at 120fps video and 48MP still images. It’s important to note that the camera's screen has a 50Hz refresh rate, so you won't see the full smoothness of the 120fps video until you transfer it to a device with a higher refresh rate. Once you do, the footage is clear, beautiful, and fluid. For still images, the full 48MP resolution is only available at a 3:4 ratio; images at the more standard 16:9 ratio max out at a still-impressive 35MP.

The camera is incredibly easy to set up right out of the box. It comes with a protective poly frame, a lens cover with a rubber grip and bumper guard, and a few essential accessories like a helmet mount with pre-taped double-sided adhesive. The camera also has built-in underwater capabilities, though I haven't had a chance to test them yet.

I've had a great experience with the camera's features, especially its 4K 120fps performance and the easy-to-use time-lapse function. The internal storage is a decent 60GB, which is expandable. I've had no issues using a 1TB micro SD card, giving me plenty of space for all my footage.

Overall, if you're looking for a high-performance action camera without the premium price tag, the Xtra Edge Pro is a stellar choice. It offers just as many features as its more popular competitors and is a great value for the money.
