Yamaha PKBB1 Adjustable Keyboard Bench

Sturdy and easy to assemble, but limited height adjustment

Easy to assemble and feels very sturdy and stable once set up. The overall construction seems solid, and I like that it doesn’t wobble when my child is sitting on it.

However, I was a little disappointed with the seat itself. I expected a padded bench based on the description, but the surface feels quite firm and hard with very little cushioning.

The other downside is the height adjustment. There are only three height levels, which feels pretty limited. We bought this for my 6-year-old to use at the piano, and we already have it set at the highest position, but it still seems slightly too low for proper piano posture. I wish there were a few more height settings, especially since this is marketed as an adjustable keyboard/piano bench.

Overall, it’s well made, sturdy, and functional, but the firm seat and limited height range keep it from being a 5-star product for us.

The jury is still outbn this one...

The website says Yamaha but there's no Yamaha anywhere on the package or the label on the bench. That's pretty deceptive in my opinion.

Defective chair.

This is not Yamaha. It’s no name chair. The chair is defective. When I adjust the level of the chair, the surface of the chair is under the angle and my lowerback experience the pain when I play piano. I didn’t notice it in the beginning. The left side of the chair is lower then right side. I just didn’t have time to complain about it on time. But today it was the last drop of my patience. Don’t buy it.

Not Yamaha. Not as advertised.

The bench is described online as 13"D x 23"W x 19.5"H. I chose it based on the wider seat compared to other brands. The bench is actually smaller. The seat cushion itself is only 12x17", 5" shorter than expected. The cushion is not softly padded - it's very firm. It's also not made by Yamaha at all.

It rocks back and forth on hard wood flooring

Good: the bench itself is very solid, the seat is firm but supportive

Bad: the feet don't rest in a single plane, so the bench rocks back and forth when leaning forward or backward. Pretty bad on hardwood floors, but manageable on carpet

Ugly: some chipping of the black paint on the metal on the bottom leg shown in the picture

Very comfortable great buy…

My son needed something to sit on while practicing. He found this seat himself. Said it was a piece of cake to put together within a few mins. Said it was comfortable even after a while of using. Thought it would feel flimsy and he wouldn’t like it since it’d be on top of carpet but says it feels sturdy when sitting.

Im not sure if its a defect or pourly made

Super sad I purchased this hoping because it was name brand it would a quality product but after unboxing and only sitting on less then an hour the bench seat is already breaking down pourly. Im 5’2 and 149lbs so i wouldnt think i was too heavy for the bench seat.

Also to add i was disappointed it was not branded on the box or seat with the Yamaha brand.

Good quality and built design!

Easy to setup, wider seat and tick padded memory foam. Perfectly leveled. Definitely recommend it!

Does the job

Arrived on time. It's easy to assemble. Does the job, height is good enough for me and my kids to use and it feels sturdy. Easy to fold and put away too.

Size wrong!!

I needed a lower bench than my original Yamaha's, so I purchased it. The lowest height they said was 17.5 but it's actually 18.5. Misleading! I had to return.

FALSE ADVERTISING. There is NOTHING on the box or the bench to indicate it is "Yamaha" brand.

The bench is really hard.

Extremely wobbly. Disappointing.

Easy to assemble but not functional for sitting to play. It is extremely wobbly and it was shipped with a rip on the underside. I know that no one sees that side but I expect it to arrive to me in a new condition. I tried to contact customer service but they are still closed for the holiday!

Great product great value

The Yamaha keyboard stool is a great value for the price and quality. It was super easy to assemble, well padded and just the right size for me. There are not a lot of holes for adjustments so if you are 6 feet tall of more, this may be too short for you, but great for teens and average sized adults. I am happy with this purchase.

High quality piano/keyboarf bench

This padded bench that a bought as a gift. The user states that this bench is not only super comfortable, but also extremely sturdy. This is a well made product. Based on their feedback, I highly recommend.

Lopsided seat

Came damaged on the steel bars resulting in lopsided seat. Pretty disappointed. Considering returning.

Other than that the cushion seems comfy

Take these with us camping!

Love these stools/benches. Portable and comfortable. We use them in our travel trailer to elevate our feet and for the perfect armless stool for playing the guitar around the campfire!

Not Yamaha, but good quality.

Definitely not a Yamaha which is disappointing. But it is sturdy and looks to be well made. Only one person can sit at a time. I was hoping it’d be big enough for two. Overall good solid bench.

Feels sturdy under my 6 ft 230 pound body

The bench came preassembled, but I adjusted it to my preferred height. The adjustment took all of 90 seconds. I had concerns about the comfort and sturdyness as I am a big boy. I'm happy to report that it's comfortable and shows no signs of collapsing.

I Love It

Don’t let the bad reviews scare you away from this little jewel! The item is exactly as described by the seller. It has a firm yet comfy cushion and the legs are stable and strong.

Good bench for sm-med height use.

This little bench seems quite sturdy at med height. There are 3 height adjustments, and I needed the tallest one to work with my stand. At the tallest height setting, as you can see in photo it does get a little top heavy and not quite as stable. I am 5'5" and to use my keyboard stand as ergonomically as possible this was the only option. If your taller, no go. Quality seems good and cushion is pretty good, we'll see how it holds up over time. I may end up lowering it back to med height and adding a cushion.

It is a great bench, very effable, but not "comfort"

It is a great light weight bench. It is very easy to put it up and sturdy. It comes with a Yamaha box, but no any Yamaha logo on the bench itself. It is made in China. Which most things are now. The quality of this bench is great. The padding is thick and very firm. However, it is almost too firm, not easy to seat for a long time. I need to put a seat cushion on it to get comfortable.

Overall - it is a great bench and very affordable. If you need one piano bench and don't mind the firm pad, this is the one you want to get.

Great Adjustable Piano Bench

I bought this Yamaha bench for my daughter to use while practicing her piano. This bench is both comfortable and sturdy. We have had for a little over a year and haven't had any issues with it at all. It easily holds the weight of an elementary school aged kid and adults!

Solid firm padding

Solid as a rock. Would've been happier with something half as solid, so I am confused as to why some people received poor units. The padding is very firm, not soft, which I prefer. I have zero wobble placing this on a carpet for guitar playing. It most definitely isnt a true Yamaha product as it even states on the bottom it is made in China, but for the price this is exactly what I needed to have a solid black professional bench in front of my rig instead of a kitchen chair.

Sturdy, stiff padding, Yamaha brand bench, I recommend!

I am impressed with the quality of this Yamaha padded bench. It’s very good for the price. It’s sturdy and built well. The padding is very stiff and hard, but I imagine that will probably get softer over time. As weight is placed on it over time. I do recommend this bench. Its well priced and folds up to store easily with my keyboard stand.

PKBB1 is a Great Bench

Even though there are some pretty negative reviews on this Padded Keyboard bench, I find it to be an exceptional value and quality. And yes, it is made in China. Which most things are now. But it doesn't distract from the quality of this bench whatsoever. It's very sturdy. I weigh right at 190lbs, and it supports me easily. The padding is thick and very firm. The seat adjust to three different height settings. And quite easily. No assembly is required either other than when you take it out of the box, one side of the legs are made to fold up. There are two adjustable screws that tighten holding the legs firmly in place. And once tightened, they aren't coming loose unless you unscrew the tightening bolts to fold the bench up for portability. The seat measures 17" x 12". I use a standard adjustable Keyboard stand, and this Bench works perfectly in both height and comfort. I have no problem at all giving this a 5 star rating for overall quality and value.

Unbalanced and Wobbly. Not a Yamaha Product At All

• The bench is wobbly no matter what surface I put it on (it is not the floor)

• Adjusting the height has no effect on the unbalanced design and the wobble

• The product is NOT made by Yamaha. It is not even made for Yamaha. It is "Distributed by Yamaha Corporation of America"

• The product is imported by The Music People Inc of Berlin, CT

Positives:

• Easy to assemble

You learn to manage the wobble, and the bench does work. However, it is never as stable as you wish.

As for the bait and switch......it is as if Rolex would distribute a cheap watch they don't make because they have a good distribution network, and the shops advertising the cheap watch online tell you it is a Rolex when it is not.

Super easy to assemble

Ordered this to accompany a keyboard stand I bought for my 10 year old.

Pros

-opened the box and it literately took me 30 seconds to assemble

-seems sturdy I'm 140 lbs and I sat on it fine (it may not be suitable or comfortable for a larger person with a voluptuous bottom

-light weight

Cons

-easy to tip (just don't rock back and forth and you'll be ok)

For the price and the nice quality it's definitely something I would order again and recommend.

Looks sturdy enough, but look carefully...

I purchased this item a few days ago and received it promptly. However, when I went to remove the plastics covering the leg braces, I discovered rusted screws. Needless to say, I am going to be returning this for a replacement. The bench does look and feel sturdy and the padding feels very adequate and comfortable for prolonged sitting. On this particular order, I can't trust the integrity of the bench when the screws holding everything together have rust all over them. For now, I'm giving 3 stars and will update if the replacement arrives in better condition.
